Couldn't find this on these boards... and didn't know the proper place to put this.. MSNBC is conducting a poll about the symbols of America... WDW is on there.. currently in 2nd place... 33,000 votes behind Statue Of Liberty.. With all the members here, we can over take SOL... Go ahead and vote for WDW..

Honestly.. I don't think anyone would expect WDW to beat out the Statue of Liberty... I mean, Lady Liberty does symbolize America....

Frankly, I would vote for the Statue of Liberty and I'm as big a fan of WDW as anyone.

On this one I'd think that the symbol of liberty and freedom should win out not be the symbol for corporate ideals. I really love every vacation I take at WDW but a resort destination/corportation should not be "the" symbol for America. JMHO!

WDW started 33,000 votes behind Statue of Liberty today... af of 4:00... WDW trails for 30,000 votes, closer to 31,000 votes.... almost a 2,000 vote swing... Come on people... Let's pull WDW closer

Just voted for WDW....why not!!!. Anyway I think you have to go with the statute of liberty if you are asking what landmark symbolizes the spirit and history of America. The Statute of Liberty is hands down the winner there. I think you can vote for WDW if you are asking what landmark do people think of when they think of the US in general, not necessarily a landmark that defines what America is.

Meh... I'm Canadian so I voted for WDW. ;) It's my favourite place to GO in the US... but I would agree that the SOL is a better symbol.

How about the Freedom trail. For those of you didn't know it is a trail that goes through Boston showing of the monuments important in the Revolutionary War.


The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France for winning the Revolutionary War... (given almost 100 years after the War)

What seems more American?

I can't imagine WDW beating out the SOL! Besides, other nations now have Disney resorts while the SOL is truly unique.
