:wave: :wave2: Hi there!!! Will you be staying at POP Century on or after October 6th? If so this is the place for you!!

We are beginning a Window Decorating Kit!!!

This kit will include all kinds of decorations: Magnet tape/Scissors/Tape/
Wipe Board/HD Alien Green Mickey Heads/Window Paints/Lights (christmas, halloween, easter).

I am checking out on October 6th and a couple of us would like to pass on our decorations to those that would like them and have them do the same! Sort of a giving tree of sorts! we all use what we need and pass it along to the next! I will keep this thread updated so that we can also keep informed on what needs to be replenished in the kit!

This makes it easier for many of us so we don't have to keep lugging our decorations around!! I am checking in again on December 22th 2007 and would LOVE to see my decorations still there!!! :teeth: If you are interested just post here and will we go from there!

ANYONE willing to start a box in the summer??? If so then it's BobCat starting it!!

If you end up starting it, it looks like the next incoming person is: dsnymoners. All you would do before your trip if dsnymoners is still after you, is put all the decorations you are donating to the box in a box or bag with dsnymoners real first and last name and arrival date and then leave it either at Front Desk or Luggage services, the FD will tell you where! and then it begins!!!

Bobcat, I'm at POP from Aug. 11-20! Sign me up! (Actually, I have a split ressie due to free dining, but I'm staying the whole time at POP. There's a chance I might have to change rooms, so I might have two different windows to decorate... one on Aug. 11 and one on Aug. 13 if we're moved.)

DH is being a grinch at the moment, and the idea of signing up for something to annoy him even more is making me feel better. LOL! (Sort of kidding. LOL! However, you'd think some of my planning included giving him a root canal the way he's acting. He's soooo gotta lighten up! LOL!)

To be recognized as a DIS member put your ALIEN GREEN mickey head from Home Depot in your window with you DIS name on it :)

the box is just window decoration stuff that you will pick up at the FD that will passed on to you from a DIS member here, then at the end of your stay put the stuff back in the box and leave it at the Front Desk for the next incoming DIS member, you will get their name in a PM and you just put that name on the package and tell the Front desk their first and last name :)

Wouldn't it be neat to see which DISer's are at your resort and see your window while you're there? Maybe I will take a little pad of Post-It's (or green Mickey heads with double sided tape on the back..), and put my DIS name on it, and post it on the front of any DIS windows that I see during my stay! :grouphug:

This is a great idea, let me just say HALLOWEEN is my 2nd favorite holiday (Christmas being 1st of course) heehee... At home I decorate my whole house for Halloween tree and all... DH thinks I am crazy but I love it... I was going to bring a Halloween box or ship fedex when I go. I will be there Sept 26 to Oct 6.... I would be willing to pass my "Halloween box" on. I will even add extra HD Mickey's....

The first person on EACH box list is the starter of the box. You will then leave the box.bag at the FD for the next person on the list and so on and so forth :)

Hopefully we can get rooms. I am a little scared about the 13th as it is the first day of free dining. My budget airfare may end up costing me big! Wish me luck!

Good luck! :) The free dining shouldn't really matter because there were only a certain amount of rooms set aside for that.

We were able to get a day at Pop added on at each end so it will only cost about $50 over what I budgeted for airfare. Haven't added the extra days to my food budget yet. Like you I would rather be in WDW than spending a fortune to get there.

Don't worry about not having enough, when you PM the next person in line before you go let him/her know what you are leaving for them and they will know what to bring!

basic list that i can think of:

Scissors (the safety kind like for kids just to be on the safe side)
tape
lights
mickey heads
construction paper
white paper
crayons or markers
magnetic board
dry-erase marker

just get creative and definately only bring what you can! these boxes will grow as they go!!

OKAY i have an idea for BOX 5 which really only has Jcuel in it :) if you are willing to do this let me know either yes or no, so i can adjust everything :)

Others that read this please let me know if you understand :)

**JCUEL 9/3-9/8 when you arrive, decorate your window as you wish with everything you bring, THEN PJstvns 8/31-9/4 will check out on the 4th and will leave the box to you at the Front desk, since you are already there, they will call you and leave a message on your machine and you just go pick it up :) you can use ANYTHING in the box that you wish and then donate your own stuff at the end of your stay and pass the box onto the next person :) :) now you aren't left out and we all can play!!!

Okay, I'm in! After a bazillion trips to stores, this is what I have come up with:

1 pair scissors
2 rolls of Scotch tape
2 rolls of lime green streamers
6 window decorations (3 are cut from a HB banner and 3 are bigger made of posterboard type material. All have characters on them)
A bunch of Home Depot Mickey heads in both Alien Green and Sonic Boom green
A plush Mickey doll to sit in the window
a bag to put it all in (sorry, it's not a box, I don't know how I would fit a box into my suitcase as we are flying down)

I am working to find a string of Christmas lights but they are pretty hard to locate in July! Hope this is an okay start...I have never done this before so am open to any and all suggestions about what else to add.

the closest outlet to the window is behind the table, a 6ft extension cord should be long enough, maybe try the suction cup hooks .

From what i remember it was right under the window, BUT i'm not positive, my mind clouds after having a baby and trying to keep all these threads active!! :)

The bag I have for "box 1" has Mickey on it. I am going to add a small notebook too so we can keep kind of a running journal of who all has had the decorations and when we were there. Putting the room numbers is a great idea! Also maybe what we added to the bag. It will be fun if everyone would post back on here after they get home so we can "track" the boxes.

DS and I started a craft project last night for our room. He's really getting into picking out items to decorate our window. I had been looking for window clings, pirate themed, and haven't been able to find any. Then I remembered I had some gallery glass I hadn't used and the kids had a left over craft set with a lot of colors of essentially the same thing. I found a pirate flag and we did the outline last night. Now I just need to wait for it to dry and we can fill it in. Any ideas on what color my flag should be since I can't use black (it's only the outline color and too thick for filling in).

I am still looking for nice pirate clip art for our door sign if anyone has any. All I can find is strange looking pirates or its too cartoon looking. I did find some great pirate fonts after much searching.

Hi there, if you are framing the windows, you would probably need 2 strands of 50 :) iu'm not positive though, but just in case bring two! and if you only have one, that's cool just don't frame the bottom part fo the window :)

Yippee, I see that I get to start box 3. I am going to go out tomorrow and see what fun things I can find. I am flying also, but I figure I can fold down a box to put it in my luggage, then use some packing tape when I arrive to tape it back up. I love the idea of a DIS window cling! I have some vinyl so I am going to experiment with markers to make a few more window clings. My pirate flag I made out of gallery glass turned out great and we printed out a treasure map, a pirate ship and tinkerbell to do as well. I also found great skull and crossbones fabric to put on the windowsill. Can you believe Halloween fabric is out already?

My son is really getting into decorating our window, 14yo DD just rolls her eyes, especially when I dressed pal mickey up with a pirate head scarf. pirate: I just need to find a gold hoop for his ear and he's all ready to go. Okay, so I just finished packing "box" (okay, bag) 1! It has everything I mentioned before plus I added a notebook so we can write to each other to track it's progress. I also picked up a couple more rolls of scotch tape since it was on sale.

I will be decorating my window tomorrow night when we FINALLY get to POP! (We've been waiting a l-o-n-g time for this trip!)

I will leave it at the front desk for Lisa to pick up on the 4th when we check out. Have fun everyone and let the decorating begin!

Unfortunately, I think I may have caught on too late to this thread--I leave on Tuesday the 8th and I'm going to be there until the 12th. I noticed that box 2 doesn't have anyone until the 11th. I have already made a cute poster for my window (so if you're staying at Pop--look for it..it's on disney striped vellum with mickey ears spelling out "with a Y"), but I was wondering if you wanted me to take down some markers, scissors, colored pencils, etc.

Just let me know before tuesday!

Edited to add: Pooh latex balloons, Disney flash cards (I am going to laminate some of the pictures on the cards), a lime green notebook for journaling - I think that is it so far.

I still have about 50+ days to go, so I will continue to gather items.

Just a suggestion... For box 3, I am going to tape a plastic page protector (the kind you put in a 3 ring binder) to the top of the box. I will then put in sheets of paper, and on each sheet I will one person's name, confirmation number, and check in date. When one person is leaving the box at the front desk for the next person, all they will need to do is pull out the top sheet of paper that had their name and information on it, and the next sheet of paper will list the information for the next person that will be picking up the box. I think that might help to keep the box flowing from person to person.

I went tonight and bought some materials..If you'll notice they're mainly flat items. I took this on and forgot I tend to overpack. :rotfl:

I bought some sheets of Disney stickers, colored pencils, markers, a LIME green :thumbsup2 composition book--a ploy for an amusing trip report from someone, and 2 cute lime green cork strips with push pins for notes from other DISers, and of course extra Mickey head paint chips! .. I'll keep my eye out for some more Disney items!

I hope this is a good start!

okay i have a spot for you, what happens is when you check in to the hotel there will be a box/bag waiting for you from the previous person on the list. you use whatever u want from the list to decorate your window and in the end of your trip you leave the box for the person below you on the list at the front desk.


you are in BOX 1.

what you need to do is PM the person above your name and say hi this is (your real first and last name) and i am going to be at POP from XXX(your real check in and check out dates) and we are pop buddies!

Then for the person below your name, you PM them and get their real life name!! so that you can leave the box for them! you need their name and their check in date! i believe i am below you!!Box 1

Hiya! yes i came up with this idea, and it just toally took off!
When you check in they will tell you they have a package waiting for you and if not, you can ask them :) if they don't have it go out to luggage services and they will have it for you.

Yes, we do ask that you add something to the box even if it's just a couple HD mickey heads :)
