Adding my congratulations!!! (and awe that you will have THREE!!! I can't handle ONE!!!)

I was at K-mart just now and they have Bright Lime Green Plastic Tubs by Homz...I couldn't find pricing, but think they were around $7.00ish a piece...The only thing I would do is add a bungee cord over the top to insure they stay closed!! I was going to pick them up, but how to get them to the right person??? And wasn't sure who that would be??? I would be willing to send $$ by Paypal to the person that is going next or I can try K-mart.com and have them shipped to WDW...

Please let me know your thoughts...

I am next on the list for box 2...
I will get out and look this weekend and assuming I find them I will pick up at least 1 if not 2 of the rubbermaid containers. I think I even have a couple of extra bungie cords floating around the garage I will have to look.
To keep them straighten out would you like 2 different colors? No promises but I will look anyway. I will also try and swing by HD and grab some LGMH's, and a few little cheap odds and ins for the windows and doors.

Also, I noticed that SORUL82 will be there 3/30-4/1 2007 who is next for box 1. If I get them I will be there during there stay and I will pass the new box 1 to them and avoid Pop all together...assuming all this works out. Might be an empty box, but it would at least be there!

Sorry Michelle for not getting back to you sooner....American Idol tonight kept me away from the computer!!! I would definitely contribute to the cost of the new containers....I checked Kmart.com and unfortunately NO containers online, sorry!!!!!

This kind of bothers me also! Why did I go through the bother of checking them in and getting a claim ticket if it is useless? Just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me - I would think they would try a little harder or put a little extra effort into locating them. And how in the world can they misplace 2 out of 2 boxes checked in at different times?:confused3

At check out, you will leave the box at the
front desk for the next person by giving
first and last name AND travel dates :)
PS-> If you get a chance PLEASE take
an inventory of what is in the box!!

I too went out and found some "almost" lime green totes. I hadn't got them yet, glad I didn't now since disneyfan04 was sweet enough to go ahead and do that! Anyway, I did grab all the LGMH's that had at 2 different HD's. Also picked up a few other colors just to toss in the new boxes if the old ones weren't found. I also have lime green crate paper steamers, and lime green poster board. I think I tell tell what color my window and door are going to be...;) .

I guess they are still mia??? Well, I was on the list last summer shortly after it started and I'll tell you we had so much stuff for our room (we arrived 8/30 I think). If they don't turn up, I'll just go out and get some more goodies (I didn't buy expensive things, but cute useable things).

Michelle, maybe you could post some good ideas of what to take (in case the original boxes dont' show) since there are almost 1800 posts here.

Did you ever think this would continue this long? I think it is great and can't wait for our trip in August.

Stuff i always bring and did just fine with lat year (since i never got the box):

Tape
White Christmas lights
Paper (construction)
safety Scissors
Paper (the long butcher type and i used this to cover the door so people could write all over the door.)


Then depending on the season you are visiting, bring decor for that!
Halloween --> we hung bats from the top of the window sill & put jackolanters on the window sill. Skeleton for the door.

Christmas--> Table top Christmas tree, ornaments to hang fromt eh top of window. Stocking for the door..

Fourth of july--> Little Flags, red/white/blue streamers

That kind of stuff!!

Debbie, maybe you can help us! This is the same box that the current Box 2 is still packed in. I replaced the box for Box 1 but the box that you used to mail stuff in was still in good shape and sufficient for me to use to package Box 2. I have been asked to give approximate sizes/descriptions for the boxes and had a hard time guesstimating sizes - maybe you are better at it then me. I know that when I went to pick up the boxes the first time they told me they were unable to locate them but the second time the CM did ask me for an approximate size and description of the boxes and then was finally able to locate them. Perhaps you might remember better what size the box was? If so maybe that info might help the person who is trying to pick up the boxes? I gave a shot at guessing on one of these posts a while back, but it was only a guess and could be WAY off. I am thinking of ANYTHING right now that could help these boxes be found... I feel badly about this!

For Newfie2000: I think your guess at box size is good -- perhaps 18" X 15" X 24". I havn't seen it since January, and it's hard to think back that far.

I think if these boxes are not found, we need to ship those boxes down to the POP and get started on new boxes!! HOWEVER i do not want 4 boxes floating around, so these 2 rubbermaids will become our permanant ones! We will need to see what THE MUDD 4 finds out!

NEXT, whoever bought the rubbermaids, can you give us the total with shipping to the POP and we can all figure out how much to pay you somehow?

As much as i LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of new boxes, i will have to pass the reigns on to someone else. I am willing to PM the list i have so far with names to someone who is willing to keep track of this thread and manage the boxes. I think POP is just getting frustrated with all the swaps. When we were the only ones we had no problems unless they were swapper errors.

Now there are swaps for coffee makers and countless fridge swaps that just keep multiplying each time i open the budget board. I think it's easy now for out little boxes to get lost and if broken, just tossed since it looks like nothing but a bunch of papers to some cast members.

PLease let me know via this thread who is willing to take over.

Hey Michele What happened to the Focker thread and the Lanyard thrread they dissappeared off my subscriptions and I tried linking with no luck is it me or have they been axed??

The Focker thread was deleted because many people complained about it. We have started a new thread which is on the community board. The lanyard thread has been deleted as well.

Michelle what do you think about changing part of the title of this thread to something on the lines of Window boxes R in need of a new person to take over the lists and organization. I'd hate to see a good thing gone even tho the boxes are still MIA. I would do it but I have my hands full with the coffee pot swap that is going on. Sorry.

I can only say you have done a wonderful job. The fact that this swap went on as long as it did is amazing. If it weren't for you, I would of never decorated our window/door. I'm so sorry the boxes were lost. I don't post much here but I follow this thread closely and you worked so hard at keeping the swap alive. I really hope someone will be able to take over, but if not, I'll just pack my suitcase with my window decorations! If not for you, I'd have never heard of window decorating before, so I thank you! Thanks!!!:goodvibes We got many many more towel creations, some of which were absolutely amazing - but they just would not fit in the window. We had towel critters all over the room - what do you know some even followed us home:rolleyes1 ! Perhaps one day I will get a picture of the rest of the gang and post them. One even had lace sewn around it and a little halo type thing made form little pearls, we never figured out exactly what it is but it is exceptional and I believe it might be a mouse angel! And congratulations on your daughters achievements! :thumbsup2 I know you will have an awesome time no matter where you stay - enjoy!! And lastly, I can't agree with you more DMM has done a ton to get and keep this thing going, I am not sure anyone else will quite be able to fill her shoes!

sorry about the bad luck with the boxes. When I played it was fun and added something new to my disney experience. The kids loved it and if it wasn't for this thread you started I'd never have thought about decorating our windows and doors.

I will always be a window decorator and it's fun to go window hunting.

Ok, well I may have some news (SORT OF) on the boxes, but don't know how much of it is right.
I did ask for them 3 different times. The first time (@ check-in) I was told they would be looked for and if found they would be delieved to my room.
The 2ed time, I called back to the front desk and was told nothing had been found, but gave them the claim numbers again and they were going to look in stored luggage too.
The 3rd time I stopped by the front desk again this time it was kinda early evening and not busy at all...Ned (I think was his name) went and asked around about them while I was standing there. One of the other CM's stated that she had been trying to find some missing boxes for several weeks now and assumed this to be them. She also said that she believed they were picked up a week or so prior.
WHO KNOWS!!!

I don't know...If it is anything like the frdge swap, I didn't sign anything either when I picked it up or dropped it off. They never asked for any ID or anything. I just told them a name and that was all.

I know its been a while since anyone posted here, but I was really curious about the window decorating thing,, anyway, I have sat here for the past couple of hours reading through all of the threads :coffee:
It began so exciting with everyone posting their ideas and photos, only to have a really sad ending, with all the boxes going astray and the thread seems to be abandoned :sad1:
If there is anyone still out there, I just wanted to say that despite the boxes having gone missing, this thread has been such a great place to find fun tips, I would never have thought of decorating my window, but now I'm really looking forward to it, I'm sure my 2 DD's will have great fun.
I really hope that people continue to decorate and to post their pictures, it would be such a shame not to.

I believe this thread died because of lost boxes and the OP life got very blessed with another child.

I loved this tread when it was going. So many great ideas came from here. At least anyone can go back and read and look at some great creative ideas. I would have never thought of doing this if it wasn't for the OP.

I would help out if I knew I was staying at pop again, but I think we are looking at the larger resorts now that we have 4 kids.

Hi There!:goodvibes I too wish this hadn't ended the way it did! We all had so much fun both on the thread and decorating our windows! I would definitely recommend that everyone try decorating at least once! It really helps create a different, magical experience. You really feel like you are going home at the end of the day instead of just back to a room. And it was so much fun to play with the Mousekeepers - I honestly think the decorating helped set the tone for that also! I feel good when I see a response on the thread... I am sure DMM would be proud also! :)

I just noticed that you will be spending Valentines Day at the world! So I thought I would share one of my most magical experiences at WDW with you! Last year DH and I were there on Valentines Day, I wanted to do something special for the CM's so we bought a bunch of bags of individually wrapped large heart lollipops. On Valentine's Day we dumped all of the bags into shopping bags and we set out. Every CM we ran into we gave a lollipop along with a smiling "Happy Valentines Day wish", starting with the gatekeeper at the hotel. We continued this until we ran out which took us the better part of a day. The response we got was absolutely amazing. CM's did everything from smile to hug us to actually shed a tear or two. We also received some very special pins. But the most rewarding part was seeing their complete surprise, reaction and appreciation! We felt so good as we left the parks that day. It was such a simple thing to do and I really believe from the bottom of my heart that we made some magic and spread some happiness of our own that day. Of course we also left a handmade bouquet of lollipops, along with a plush rose for our Mousekeeper that day! Just thought you might be interested in how we spent our Valentines Day 2007 at the world!:goodvibes
