** Post 46 has an updated entry and my I'm baaaaaack to WISH Journaling**
Ok so I find myself here yet again. And each time I come back, I swear the number that I want to get to keeps slipping further and further back. :guilty: Of course, I have no one to blame but myself (well myself and Cold Stone Creamery too).
Here's the brutal truth. I am almost 32 years old and I weigh 207 as of this morning. Not my all time highest weight but only 4 pounds from it. Which in itself still is pretty darn bad. My plan is to get to the gym at least 5 times per week, watch what I eat and cut back on fatty foods and to cut out the sodas all together. This has worked pretty well for me before. I may try to implement something not unlike Weight Watchers this go around also.
Oh and of course, to Journal again and join as many challenges (AND FINISH THEM!) to set me on the right path.
Now to the game plan for today. I am going to the Y after work for the first time in at least 4 months. I had 1/2 of a pop tart for breakfast :sad2: and will eat a Progresso Heathly Veggie soup for lunch. Tonight I'm hoping to make a tuna salad or casserole so I can have leftovers.
Here I go.....again!

Thanks Tracy! I hope you are doing well!
Well I did fairly good until I got to the gym. All the Elliptical machines were taken so I had to go walk outside. I only managed one lap due to the intense heat (95º) and the fact that my lower back and my calves started hurting. Boy I tell you what, when you slack up it's so easy to fall out of shape. Uggh.
And to make matters worse, I didn't follow through with my supper plan. Instead I ate 4 small slices of pizza with ice cream for dessert. Now somewhere in my brain I managed to justify it by saying that I needed to get rid of it so it won't tempt me. :rolleyes1
Today is off to a better start though. I ate one packet of Oatmeal and am planning a Lean Cuisine for lunch. Will try to decide later as to what to eat for dinner tonight. Maybe I'll try the Tuna casserole that I didn't get to yesterday.

Nothing gets you back on the dieting caravan faster than cleaning out your closets and dressers! Man, I have so many items of clothes that I can't wear!! ARGH!
I did pretty good this weekend. Only managed to exercise once though, but it was a doozy. A little over one full hour of cardio and my legs were jello. I'm still feeling it a bit today, but it's not as bad. I'm planning to hit the gym tonight after work and do the full workout which consists of 35 min. of Cardio and my weight training.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I feel you there, except I never made it to an hour. Something like 6 mins on the couch to 5k thing. Good job on doing a full hour! I wish I had your stamina.

Oh trust me.... I felt it a couple days after though! Phew! Well, my gym-goings haven't been the best this week. But I hope to remedy that starting today. I'm down a full 2 pounds in two weeks time. I guess I should be happy that it's a loss!
Well just wanted to check in briefly. I hope to write more once I finish getting dressed and head to work. I hope you all are doing well. Thanks for the well wishes everyone!

Can I sneak back in and have no one notice me?
Well I bought an Elliptical machine yesterday hoping that will help me get and stay motivated. I think my biggest problem right now is time. I have somehow got to find a way to make the time and make it a priority. So back on the wagon again as of today.
My game plan for today:
B- 1 package of Oatmeal
L- Spaghetti
S- Wheat thins
D- Grilled Chicken or Pork with veggies
At least 80 oz of water and I would like to do at least 40 minutes on the Elliptical.
Oh yea... I got on the scale this morning and said Hello  to my all time high weight again. Yep, the one that I vowed to never see again! 211. God I hate that number.
Ok, off to go see if I can join in some challenges now. Those always keep me motivated.

Sneak right on in, no one will notice! :rolleyes1
You made a major step by purchasing an Elliptical Machine. May I ask how much you paid for it? I am looking into getting one myself, but I am still on the fence with it - so let me know how it goes, could you?
Sounds like you have a great day planned as far as the menu is concerned. Remember making time is the hardest part about any fitness plan; however, the results will be worth it in the long run.
Have a great day. :wizard:

No, I don't mind at all! I bought a cheap one from Wal-mart. Before I plunk down alot of money, I wanted to make sure I would use this one. And then later on, I"ll make a decision to upgrade. The one I got was a Weslo 610 and I paid about $150.00 for it. It was kind of a pain to put together, but thankfully, that's what husbands are for! :lmao:
I tried it for a few minutes last night and it is relatively quiet. So far so good! I will give it a good workout when I get home though. I guess the real test will be then!
Thanks for the well wishes and the support!

Ok so the Elliptical at the house is alot harder to do than the Elliptical at the gym! I can usually do 30 minutes semi-easily at the Y. I barely made 10 minutes total yesterday! And that was breaking it down into 2 minutes at a time and having the feeling go out of my legs! I swear I think I put the resistance on the easiest level! Ack! Ok well, at least I know I need to seriously work on that although my legs feel a bit wobbley this morning.
Game plan today:
100 oz of water
I will try to figure a way to get at least 30 minutes total on the Elliptical (aka Devil machine)
B- 2 Hard Boiled Eggs
L- Sausage link with a side of carrots and small serving of pasta
D- Not sure yet... It may be Chicken, Rice and Cheese casserole so we can eat the leftovers.

Sneaking back in again.
I'm depressed enough to say that after looking back at my first post on this, I have managed to gain 13 pounds since last June!
Ok so I'm back on board starting today. I've started entering my food and exercising in Sparkpeople again. I just did 10 minutes on the devil machine. I guess that's a pretty good start considering how much of a slug I've been lately. Now to get rid of all the junk in the house and sit down and plan a healthy grocery list for this weekend.
DH and I have talked about it and we're going to buy his and hers bikes this weekend. I figure that will be a good way for me to get into it and also to keep him motivated. He's not a walker nor is he a runner, so if this will keep him motivated and me motivated by having him do it with me, I'm game! This should be interesting at least as I'm very gravity challenged!! haha!
And maybe for good measure I'll post a before pic of me. I need to print it out and tape it to the fridge too.
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m240/geauxgirl/fatme.jpg And honestly that pic was 10 pounds ago too. Oy, here we go!
Desiree
04-15-2007, 08:33 AM
I took a sneak peak at the scale today and looks like I'm down 2 pounds! Gotta start somewhere I guess!! WOOOHOO!
We got our bikes Friday night and took them out for a spin Saturday. Oh man, I guess I forgot how hard that was!! And my poor bum! OWIE! It hurts to sit now! I've got to find a more comfy seat! I don't think I can stand riding it today so I'm about to head out for a walk while the rest of the house is sleeping. It looks like a beautiful and cool day outside!

Been lurking a bit lately. Hope everything is going good for you. We have planned a trip to WDW for Nov. 25 for a week! It has been what 3 years since we have been, but Olivia is now 3 and will be about 3 1/2 and Blake will be 7. He is playing baseball and is really doing good. He is about a head taller than the other kids and kinda looks like the kid who flunked a grade with his size, but man he can hit the baseball. Really pretty left handed swing. Maybe LSU will sign him 12 years from now....lol.
I am back on my diet. I have lost 7 lbs the first week back on and I am going to try to lose as much as possible before the trip. Want to look good in the pics!
Drop me a line on my journal sometime, I am going to resume it!

Hey Des,
So how are things in Baton Rouge? Your Tigers did not make the sub regionals in baseball did they? Even though I do not pull for them, Louisville (fellow Kentuckians) did pretty wrell reaching their first College World Series.
Since we spoke last, my Cats finally got rid of the non recruiter Tubby and have hired Billy Gillespie. We are really excited about him and he has brought in a better recruiting class in 2 months than Tubby did in the last 5 years.
I am going to hit it hard for the next 4 months prior to my WDW visit. Join your old Kentucky friend! You can do it. Lets compare weight loss percentage from now till Nov. 1!
Take the DAX challenge!

Since Dax decided to bump this thing up from the depths I guess I should post in it one of these days!!
Ooh but let's not talk about baseball! hehe
We have a new coach and even though we like him, it was a TERRIBLE year. I tell ya, after winning 5 National Championships in a 9 year stretch, it's been a loooooooooooooooooooooooong time since things were hopping at the Box.
Woohoo I'm game for the Dax Challenge! I've been doing pretty good lately and am down 8 pounds. I'm hoping for an even 10 by Monday's weigh in.

Hi everyone! I guess I'll give an update. I'm finally back on target. I've been exercising consistantly (most days twice a day) for the last 28 days. That is the longest stretch I've ever gone! So I'm pretty pumped about that. I'm afraid if I miss just one day, I'll falll back into bad habits again, so this is really working for me now I may as well stick with it!
June 1st, my weight was an all time high of 222. As of today I'm 213.4. I've been taking my measurements and hopefully will see a little of a loss there soon. Actually I am down an inch in the waist and 2 in the hips/bust area but that is from April's measurements.
I'm just trying to do the usual of eat less and exercise more. I'm trying to be consious with what I'm putting into my body too and have been counting calories and just trying to eat better overall. I haven't had a drop of a beer or a martini since June 1st either. That was hard to give up but I'm glad I did. The real test will be come football season!
Well guess that's about it for now. I will try to update this more often!

So you've accepted the DAX challenge:thumbsup2 I started at 290 so, Nov.1 we will compare, awesome!
I may have already covered this with you, but we were supposed to have went to B. Rouge to see Kentucky play LSU in football, but my alma mater Murray State honored the 1991 Ohio Valley Conference Champion team that I played on the same weekend and I just couldn't miss that, seeing my old buds.
Did you notice my Wildcats not only got to their first bowl game in about 10 years, but we beat Clemson in the game!?:woohoo:
Anyway, your post is out of the cellar so lets keep it that way! We can do this! The DAX challenge is started!

Very cool Dax! I'm looking forward to it!
I hopped on the scale this morning and I'm down 3 from last Monday's weigh in! Of course, I won't log it until tomorrow! But I'm stoked!
Ah visiting with your old teammates is definately more important that coming down here for a football game! Maybe one of these days we'll meet up! Speaking of football, I'm ready for it to start! This is going to be a long next few months!
Well off to walk the Lakes!
I hope everyone has a good day today! Thanks for checking in on me!

The Lakes, by LSU's campus? If so, I remember those, they were really pretty.
Well, your Tigers should be good this year (What's new:rolleyes1 ). My cats have the best team they have had in years and we are picked 5th in the EAST. What a tough conference!
We have a good quarterback, Woodson and good WR Burton. I really look forward to fb season for the first time in a long time. Next time we get down there, I'll have to make a side trip. I am sure I told you, but dw's childhood friend lives in BR and her husband is a trainer for LSU. They are really nice folks and we enjoy are visits there.
Gotta go!

Good morning everyone!
Today's weigh in put me at a new clippie this morning! I started this morning off in the right track also by signing up for a few challenges here on WISH. I also got in 40 minutes on the elliptical and a few strength training things in this morning too. I'm hoping to try to do 30 more on the ellpitcal when I get home from work tonight.
Dax, sounds like y'all have things going in the right direction at least for football! I'm really excited for this year but we will surely miss Jamarcus Russell this season. 1st round draft pick though! It will be interesting to watch him in the pros.
Well I just wanted to check in here and post an update. If anyone swings by, have a great day!

Thanks for the comment Julie! It's good to be back!
Well seems this week my favorite number has been 210. I'm anxious to get back down to 207 since that's back to where I was at the beginning of the year. Yes, I said that correctly.. I gained almost 15 pounds in 6 months. Amazing how much stress eating can take place and how much nightly ice cream contributes to the ole weight gain. Chris is still in school and working so I've been really stressed handling Devyn, her homework, all the chores, bills, etc. And her homework this past year has really been a struggle. Hopefully she'll have her head on straight come August when she starts 8th grade. 7th grade was a whopper for her. And if I recall when I was in school it was one of the hardest grades I had also.
Yesterday I didn't make the best of eating choices but I still managed to stay within my calorie range (1200 - 1500) but I only got 15 minutes of exercise in. Mom and I are about to go walk the Lakes though so that should put me back on target today. I'm trying to get at least 30 minutes of exercise in a day if not more. Hopefully that will help me to my goal of 1700 minutes this month.
Well I guess that's about it for now. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Hmm not quite a Kentucy Wildcat but a cat nonetheless!
Weekend went pretty well here even with the July birthday party for the family. I didn't overindulge but it did feel good to have a bit of birthday cake. And the scale gods must have been smiling down on me because I still had a loss come Monday!
Total loss so far.... 17.6. Weight is down to 204.4 which is lower than it was when I started this thread!

Well after exactly 20 days of hitting a brick wall, I've finally busted through! As of this morning, I'm down to 201.6. Down 20.4 total. I have to say I'm really excited. The scale has not moved and has been teetering on the edge of the 20 mark for so long. I'm just thrilled that I can finally change my wish marker now. Now I'm only at this point for just a short time hopefully! Maybe in two weeks I'll hopefully be changing it again to 25! :yay:

Hiya Daxx and everyone!
I've been doing ok but seem to be stuck hovering around 20 pounds loss. But I'm encouraged again to get back on the ball. I've managed to start slowly falling back into some bad habits but I do recognize where I am and where I need to be to get things going in the right direction again.

Well your Tigers started out well against MSU. My Cats beat a patsy in Eastern Kentucky. But the srories of the weekend were Michigan and Notre Dame losing. What a great weekend! If only Louisville had gotten beat, but my alma mater, poor Murray State was not up to the challenge like Appalachian State was against Michigan!
I am so proud you have lost 20! Keep it up. I have lost about 12 in two weeks. I am really working hard on it. I walked for 45 minutes last night. I've been off of work on vacation for a week and have hit the ground running on diet.

Mind you I'm only down to 199.2 but it's better than nothing, right?! Onward and downward and let me just tell you that it's good to be in Onederland!!! I attended the LSU-Kentucky game in Lexington. What a great game if you were a Wildcat fan! I could type for days, we got to meet several of the Tigers the night before the game at the hotel. I was about 4 feet from Les Miles as he was talking to our friend in the LSU Athletic dept. Really a weird deal because I sat in the LSU A. Dept. seats, so I could not cheer out of respect for the families of the coaches and players, but it was an unbelievable evening.

Hey Daxx, Where are those pics?!?!?!?!
I say as I sneak back in here. I am so very sick of this yo-yo. I'm sick of not telling people that I'm on a diet because I'm afraid I'll fail again. I'm ready for a change not just in my habits but in my life. I'm sick of having to squeeze into our basketball seats at the PMAC. And toes? What are they? Do they belong on your feet? I wouldn't know as I haven't seen 'em in a very long time. I'm so tired of avoiding my friends for fear of what they think when they see me. I'm just plain tired.
But I'm determined. (Yes, I know I've said that before). I've got some strong allies with me now. My husband is going to do this to. My mom, who is a big inspiration has already lost almost 40 pounds. (We started last year at the same time so that's the point where I "should" be). And my daughter, I need to teach her the right way to do things before she falls into the same trap. She's 13 now and I don't want to see her make the same mistakes I made.
I did manage to loose about 22 pounds but as of today I've gained back 10.6 towards my original all-time high.
 My immediate goals are as follows:
* No more sodas. I've done this before many times so I know I can do this again
* More water. Again, I was at a point where I was drinking about 100 oz. a day. I need to get back to that point where I crave the h2o.
* Get off my keister. I have no more excuses there. I just need to do it.
* Log onto Sparkpeople every day and track everything.
* By February, try to get under and remain under that nasty 200 number.
Well that's about it for now.
Desiree
01-02-2008, 01:22 PM
Well I'm off to a pretty good start! I tracked all my food yesterday and did the elliptical for 30 also. Today I did 30 more and the food looks to be right on track for my daily 1200-1500 target. So far so good! I also signed up for the Biggest Loser challenge here on WISH so I know that motivation will help tremendously also!
Is anyone doing the C25K program? I'm thinking of giving that a try. I may wait until next week to start as my BIL has been staying with us since he's on break from school and I have a really big issue with exercising with non-immediate family members around!

Wow wow. Bumping this up so I can dust it off again. I'll post an update later. Been quite a while since I've been here.
Desiree
10-21-2011, 09:45 AM
Wow that's quite a pattern I've built there. I never quite seemed to do any more than about 2 months consecutively.
Since my last post on this alot has happened. In July/Aug of '08 I developed blood clots that stemmed from an initial blood infection. I was immobile for roughly 4 months (and hospitialized). Some of the clots turned into some pretty painful dvts and my legs have not been "right" since. But since they found out that I have the clotting disorder, I've been taking my Coumadin faithfully.
August 22nd of this year I started back with a lifestyle change this time, instead of dieting. On that date I weighed in at 240. Only 4 away from my all time high thus far. As of today I'm at 222. So 18 pounds in just about 2 months. I'm very pleased. The inches are coming off slowly too. I started C25K a few weeks ago as well and trying to get to the gym at least 5 times per week.
This has indeed been the longest stretch of time that I've done this and *hopefully* this time there is no stopping now. This time it does feel different. I've got to make the change for me and my health. Also my daughter (who is 17 now.. gosh where has the time gone!?!) has put on quite a bit of weigh herself. I have to set an example for her.
So my plan is this...
*I havent had any sodas in that whole time (2 months tomorrow!)
*Eat 1200 calories per day
*Burn at the very least 2000 calories exercising per week.
*I am not depriving myself anything. I'm still eating that piece of cake if a birthday should pop up, but I'm adjusting my calories accordingly.
*I'm recording EVERYTHING. Handy little fun apps now make this easier than ever. I use Noom to record my food, weight and exercise. And I also have a c25K app that I use for those mornings.

Oh I wanted to add...
We're just in the initial planning stages of our trip to Disney in May. (I haven't been in 5 years.. going through some SERIOUS withdrawl). I want to be at the very least in the 160-170 range if not smaller by the time I get there. This will be our trip celebrating dd's high school graduation! So my thinking is this.. I want to be one of "those" people who get up early and jogs around their resort! :rotfl:

Great goals!! Five years without a trip:scared1:. You're definitely overdue.
I was thinking about that jogging around the resort thing too. We're not going until Sept, and don't have any room res. yet, but I'm thinking if our kids come, we'll end up at POR, which is just beautiful, and would be great to jog around. Funny, a couple of weeks ago I couldn't ever imagine myself wondering such a thing.

I know, right? That never would have entered my mindset before. I mean, I know you walk tons at WDW but exercising beforehand. I think I've lost my mind!
The thing is I can visualize myself doing that and that is my happy thought. If only I could get there.... *sigh*

Well today isn't starting off too well. I am up a pound but my official weigh in is tomorrow.
Pet peeve of the day. It seems my family (and I'm just joking here... but it just seems this way to me...) manages to find the most UN-flattering pictures of me to tag on facebook. *sigh*. Oh well I guess I need to turn this around and use it as some incentive.
I just made our grocery/dinner lists for the week and now I"m off to go hit the store, run a few errands and hopefully get to the gym before the LSU game starts.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey Des! Welcome Back to WISH! It's great to see you here!
I'm sorry to hear about the blood infection and clots. :( That sounds like some pretty scary stuff. I'm so glad to hear that you are doing much better now!:goodvibes
I like your plan :thumbsup2 It sounds very do-able. ::yes:: Congrats on losing 18 pounds so far!:cheer2:
By the way... Did you say your DD is 17?!?!? Wow! Time is going by so fast!
I hope you have a nice weekend!

Hey Tracy! Thanks for the welcome back. I can't believe I started this "new" journal in 2006. Sheesh To think how many times I could have been healthy by now and maybe that would have prevented the clots. Who knows. :confused3
But the important thing is that I am back and I'm doing it for me.
Yes, you read that right.. DD is 17. I have the grey hairs to prove it too! LOL

So far the weekend has been pretty good. I got ALOT accomplished yesterday between errands, groceries, making our dinner plans for the week and cleaning. Even made it to the gym. And watched the LSU game.
Today I will finish up the laundry, vacuum and relax! (Maybe have a margarita later). I did start week 3 on C25K this morning. I think that is the first time since high school ahem, some 20 years ago that I managed to run 3 minutes consecutively. I'm a little intimidated by next weeks c25k. It's 2 - 5 minute runs. :scared1:
Well off to go fire up the crock pot. Have a fantastic Sunday everyone!

Congrats on your 3 minute run!! Sounds like your on the right path. Don't fear next week, just take it one day at a time. Next week, just take it 5 minutes at a time. I've been straying from the couch to 5K program and actually running more than I'm supposed to, still doing the run/walk combo, but adding more running, and it really does feel good when I'm done ( got up to 4 min, but will try 5 soon). I'm sure you will be fine. Find a distractor while you're running. For me it has been the DVR. I get engrossed in a program and don't pay as much attention to the time.

Tracy - Thanks! Yes it was productive but I was able to relax and enjoy a visit from a good friend of ours Sunday too.
Lurker - Oh gosh I wish I had a treadmill. I have been running/walking outside and there is no way that I'd run on a treadmill in a gym. At least not until I loose ALOT more weight. :headache: I used to have a home elliptical but it didnt come with us when we moved. I regret that now. I ended up giving it to dh's cousin.
I didnt quite finish all my runs today. I got 3 out of 4 and had to literally sprint back home due to a bathroom emergency. :scared1: So I'm trying to decide if I want to repeat this day or just move on to day 3 on Thursday. I am planning to go to the gym tonight so I won't really feel like I've missed out on that last run. I'll make up for it and then some on the elliptical.
You know what I realized today too. Before in Halloween seasons of the past, I would have already bought a bag of candy for the trick or treaters and started raiding that by now. And I would have also started buying candy to hand out to co-workers (and myself too). So, not only are my co-workers missing out on having candy lying around, my hubby and daughter are missing out too. I have no desire to even get the good stuff so I won't be tempted so even the trick or treaters may be getting the short end of the stick this year! :rolleyes1
Ok well I guess I need to get my day started. Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Good for you on the candy!!! I don't buy the good stuff anymore either (Milky way, 100 Grand mmmmm). We rarely even get any trick or treaters (live on a main road), so most of it is left over and I will eat it. I was thinking to get some of those big nabisco cookie packs this year, then if they don't go, the kids can take them to school for snacks/lunch.
Keep up the good work on your exercising!!!

Thanks Lurker! You too!
I ended up doing c25k back to back yesterday & this morning and today and I totally felt it. My legs felt like lead. I don't think I'll be running back to back anymore and I will totally cherish my rest days. I did also go to the gym last night too and did 35 min on the elliptical. So I'm pretty sure I will skip running tomorrow and just do my normal weight lifting at the gym either tonight or tomorrow afternoon. Then I'll pick back up and repeat a day on c25k on Friday morning.
I peaked at the scale this morning and I'm still hovering at 2 pounds over since last week. :( Not happy about that but my eating has been OP all week long and of course the exercise is there. I was really hoping to be in the 2-teens by next weigh in. I want to reach ONEderland by New Years. :sad2:

Drag - dont I know it! I'd be right there with you. Trips seem to get fewer and far between when you have to actually pay for them! LOL But alas, hoping that will change now. We've been in our house a few years now so just adding some padding to the ole savings account and hoping that I can start going more regularly. I have a dream to one day run one of the Disney races!
But, ironically enough my dad called me this morning and we are all going to gather at mom and dad's tonight to discuss our plans and hopefully (*fingers crossed*) go ahead and book our trip! :worship::worship: I think choirs of angels just started singing! So now to get down to business. I know you posted on my journal, but didn't know if you read the first post. I was 255lbs just before Christmas 2010. By my trip at the end of May, I was down to 205 and have kept it off ever since. In my opinion, it's not too much if you're focused and dedicated. Most importantly, even if you fall a litlte short, you're still a heck of a lot better off than you were. That's what I kept telling myself over and over again. I stopped focusing so much on the scale and more on how I felt and looked and how my clothes fit!
I'm not sad to say, I had to buy an entirely new wardrobe earlier this year. Down 4 pants sizes and 1 shirt size will do that!

Today was w3d3 for me. I did pretty good and got it in before the rain hit this morning. Planning on doing weights tonight at the gym and then tomorrow morning either walking around the LSU lakes or going to the gym. Depends on how cold it is (We've got a cold front coming thru today).
In other news, the scale just isnt moving. I'm back hovering around 221-223. I just can't seem to get in that next decade. Why does it seem like you drop weight on the high end of the numbers but when you are trying to get in the next group it seems like it stalls out.
I'm discouraged a bit but I will keep going on.

Morning everyone!
Not much new going on here. I've finally seemed to have broken the 222-221 numbers, only just though. Today I am 220.6. Which I'm proud to say is exactly 20 pounds down from my actual recommitting date on 8/22/11. So I'm pleased about that. Now next week I want to see some numbers in the 2 - teens!
I also went to Academy yesterday and got some new tennis shoes. Needed them badly apparently. I was reading some websites that say you should change your shoes out about every 6 months. (My old pair, I had them for 2 years!!). I noticed yesterday while I was doing my c25k thing that I was slipping a little during an area where I ran thru a small patch of sand. So I checked the bottoms of my shoes, and they were quite worn down. So I got me some new Asics, new socks and 3 long sleeved tees. I got 2XL thinking that since that's the size I'm wearing now, that would be a good guess. Well got them home and ugh, too tight. I know I"ll be in them soon but that was a little discouraging. Speaking of discouraging, they just do not have any good selections for ahem, "bigger" people who are TRYING to lose weight! Apparently Academy only caters to size 2-6's. UGH ok vent over.
Where do you all buy your exercise clothes? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Ok off to the gym and then a ton of errands, housework and laundry. Ugh. Have a great Saturday everyone!

Oh. My. God. Just got on the scale this morning and AGAIN I see that same number I've seen the last 3 weeks. I burned 2500 calories this week between c25k and at the gym and maintained 1200 eating calories each day this week (with the exception of Friday, when I consumed 1550.) What is going on here?
I'm frustrated with the scale. But in lieu of that, I feel better than I've felt in a long time. I'm so proud of myself. I got up this morning in 39º weather here in South Louisiana and I did w4d1 of Couch to 5 K. I'm completely stoked about doing this. I was really nervous last week about running 5 minutes at a time but I did it. It felt good and I feel stronger than I have in a long time.
So I guess there is really nothing else I can do but keep pushing on. I was really hoping to see Onederland by Jan 1st but now that may not happen.

Tracy, you are awesome. Thank you so much for that. :flower3:
And you are exactly right about everything.
Today was w4d2 of C25K and I did good! I'm really pleased with how this is going. I only made it to the gym last night just to do weights yesterday but I guess that's something. I'm hoping I can get to go today but I have to pick up dd from bowling and a friend may be dropping her laptop off tonight for me to remove a virus on it for her. It all will depend on what time she is planning on coming over and the timing of it all. Even if I can only get 20 min on the elliptical I'd be happy with that.
I really would like to see 5 pounds gone before Thanksgiving. I've got to find a way to bust thru this plateau. I'm thinking that even though I drink water for each meal that maybe I'm not getting enough of it in? So today I'm really gonna work hard and drink 48 oz at work today then if I have 2 more glasses tonight (working on one now too) that will put me at around the 80 - 90 oz range for the day. Also I'm thinking that I need to be working better on portion control in addition to the calorie count. Maybe my portions are too big and I'm miscalculating? :confused3
Ok well I'll think on this some more. I need to go and take a shower and get ready for bloodwork then go to work. If I don't pop back in later, have a nice day everyone!

We had a big ole eating FAIL yesterday. I'm back on track today. This is exactly what happens when I stray off our plans for the week. I was supposed to do a Shredded Mexican Pork roast in our crock pot yesterday, but the pork wasn't thawed by the time I got up yesterday morning and I was running later than usual after doing my c25k, soooo, last night we had no dinner planned going into the evening. And with the new video game we got (Uncharted 3), we opted for the easy way out and ordered Chinese delivery. And I ate it ALL. OMG I felt awful afterwards. And the fact that it put me over on calories for the day by about 500. Oh my. So yea, it was a bad eating day. Back on plan today though. Pork is defrosting in microwave and I'm about to throw it in the crock pot in a few. And the rest of our meals are planned thru the weekend. I really find that is the best way for us to stay on the straight and narrow.
So today's line up for food (an example of what I eat)
B- Special K Red Berries with 2 % milk (can't do skim - *shudder*)
S- Handful of grapes/carrots/fat free jello/yogurt - whatever is on hand (not all combined though.. just one of those things lol)
L- Turkey sandwich on wheat with light mayo and 1 slice of colby jack
S- banana
D- Mexican Shredded pork over a little rice
All that usually rounds up to roughly 1200 calories.
Exercise may be dicey today. I woke up too late to do a dvd and have to pick Dev up from Drama today. Hoping to squeeze in gym this afternoon.

Drag - great! Let me know how it comes out and if you guys like it. We tend to use the salsa rather than the chipolte.
Lurker - sorry I must have missed your post from earlier. Thanks!! And I completely agree on the coffee issue. I have to have creamer and suger. But I've managed to wean myself to only drink coffee on the weekends so the way I figure is that I'm already doing ALOT less coffee drinking than what I normally do. Now.... that being said, in the winter I may drink it more. I need to see if I can do 1 tsp of sugar rather than my normal 2 and see if I can manage to cut down the creamer as well. I've never been one to drink my coffee black. Bleck!

Haven't had a chance to do a full report today so here I am finally taking my lunch break. Yesterday and today so far so good on eating. I didn't make it to the gym or to walk yesterday afternoon. I remembered that the crock pot was on and that I needed to turn it to warm before I went to go pick up dd. And of course with the play coming up they ran late so I had to rush home and make sure there were no accidents on the floor by certain dogs before company came over! :rotfl:
But I don't have any Devyn committments today so I am going to the gym and then depending on how I feel, I may do my c25k tonight or if not then definitely in the morning. The app that I use on my phone to track when I need to run/walk posts to facebook after I finish each day so I am kinda keeping myself accountable that way. Plus I feel so so much better and accomplished as I finish each one.
So I also signed up on the DIS for a November Exercise challenge. I haven't done one of those in YEARS! I probably set my sights a little high.... 2500 minutes in Nov. But I also feel like I need to be doing a bit more cardio anyway so maybe this will give me incentive to get over this hump. Theoretically I'd love to see 5 pounds (or more) gone by Thanksgiving.
Well that's about all for now. Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!

I agree, 1200 seems very low. You need to be somewhat satisfied, not starving all the time or else it's too easy to just give up, especially if you're planning this for longterm. If you can do 1500, and also get in some exercise to work off some of it, you'll be in great shape (literally)!!

11-04-2011, 09:41 AM
Keep in mind that you need to consume a certain number of calories to keep your body from going into starvation conservation mode! DW was getting so frustrated because she was working out like a fiend and not losing any weight. I knew I never saw her eating very much so I honestly couldn't figure it out. I'm a very supportive husband since we're accountability partners for working out and eating right. I couldn't understand it.
When I asked her to explain to me what she was eating on a given day, we discovered she was only eating about 1000 calories per day. For her size and the amount of exercise she was doing, she was consuming alot less calories than the charts would suggest. Once she started consuming a few more calories each day, the weight started coming off.
It's weird. I eat more now than I did before, but I eat better things for me and get alot of exercise. I've maintained my college weight now for 6 months.

Lurker - :goodvibes Yep!
Well I finished up week 4 this morning. I am so incredibly nervous about next week though! Sunday should be ok since I'm already running 5 minutes but instead of doing that twice, I do it 3 times. Tuesdays run will consist of 2 - 8 minute runs and Thursday or Friday's will be a full 20 minute run. :scared1:
Food has been good too this week with the exception of Wednesday (or was it Tuesday?) I can't remember, lol. And the scale has FINALLY gone below 220 today. Only just, but it's 219.6. Slow but steady progress at least! Official weigh in is Sunday so hopefully that will stick. I'm really gonna concentrate and work on at least 5 pounds down by Thanksgiving. I think that's do-able.
DH has to work late tonight so I'm hoping to get some extra minutes in at the gym. I'd like to do weights and a full elliptical session if I can. I may try to get my mom to drive seperately so that if she wants to leave earlier she can. (We usually ride together).
And tomorrow will be a busy day. I hope to be at the gym when they open at 8am and on the elliptical again. Then I need to get DD up and we need to go buy her some new bras, then hit the grocery store, start the mountain of laundry, and then get ready to go to my parents to watch the big LSU/Alabama football game. Oh and somewhere in the middle of all that we are planning on going to watch Tower Heist (I sure hope it's funny.. Eddie Murphey and Ben Stiller need to redeem themselves).
Sunday other than doing C25K will be my chill out day!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Way to go so far!!
What I found really helped for me was to focus on food for a few weeks. Yeah, I did some exercise, but I really focused on my food. I was weighing and measuring EVERYTHING that went into my mouth. Portion size was always a major issue for me, and I was never able to eyeball things. So, if a serving size of something was a cup, I got out my measuring cup, filled it (and not heaping, boo!), and then put it on my plate. I invested $10 in a digital food scale was well. One of my best investments on my journey. I have been doing WW since May 10 now, and I don't measure and weigh near as much as I used to, because now I CAN eyeball things, and I know what "one cup" or "4 ounces" looks like.
Desiree
11-04-2011, 12:06 PM
Yea, you guys may be onto something there too.
Drag and Baby - I do have a digital scale and I usually do measure out my cereals and such. For my regular portions I've been trying to literally cut things in half. Like for example, we had talapia last night and corn. Normally (pre-diet) I'd eat 2 talapia filets and a heaping handful of corn. I just ate one filet and a smaller amount of corn. Maybe I need to bump that back up again?
I guess the main problem too is I don't know if I can force myself to eat the extra calories. I'm averaging around 1200 and I don't feel stuffed beyond that. The logical side of me is having a hard time fathoming that I need to try to eat more to lose.

You may not, but there are alot of good caloric intake calculators out there. I'd suggest trying one of those UNLESS you're on a weight watchers type diet.
As I've said in my own personal journal, it's more about your activities than what you eat. Nutrition is very important. Don't get me wrong, but the exercise and activities will be the biggest bump you can possibly get in weight loss/maintenance.

Yea, I do use one on my phone already. I'll see about bumping up the food just a bit to see if I can jump start the weight loss again.

Well I just finished w5d1 today and I've heard that this is the hardest week. Day 1 went just fine. It consisted of a 5 minute walk warmup - 5 minute jog - 3 minute walk - 5 min jog - 3 min walk -5 min jog and then 5 min walk cool down. Tuesday morning instead of 5 min I should be jogging 8 min.
I don't have much on the agenda today except clean the house. May get hubby to take care of the groceries that way I can clean and do laundry.
Eating and exercise both have been OP all last week and I finally see 219 solidly today! Maybe that downward momentum is finally back!
Oh I do have something exciting to report! I bought our tickets and booked our hotel room for Biloxi on December 30th. We're going to see Barenaked Ladies in concert! Yay! I'm so excited. I just love them!

W5D2 is done and that's 8 minutes consecutively twice! Thursday or Friday's will be my first "big" run. 20 minutes. :scared1:
I may need to find another app to try. My noom which has worked flawlessly so far has now decided to act crazy when I try to track my run. Now, previously I have been just recording the walking and manually entering my run time in later (since with the c25k you basically do intervals..I was keying in my running minutes after the fact). But i've noticed when I set the program to record run now instead of walk, it acts completely wonky and pauses/resumes at odd times. And during one point in my run today it said I was going 18mph. Um, no. So I might need to look into something a bit more accurate. I do have my gps turned on on my phone as well. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

Wooohoooo! Great job on your 8 minute runs!!!:dance3:
Just think how great you are going to feel after your 20 min run this week and you can get through it!
I really need to look at the c25k again. I stopped following the program and have been just doing my own thing, but need to get back to some guidance.

DW used it for her training I she laughed when I first downloaded it to her iPod for her. She said there's absolutely NO FREAKING WAY I'll ever run for 30 minutes straight. Now she's doing just that 4 times a week.

Great job on the running!! I keep telling myself that I should start running, because everyone I know that runs really likes it. Yeah, and then I go do it...and I realize why I don't run! I don't like it at all!! I don't even thing a lion chasing me would get me to run!! :rotfl:

A quick drive by post to let you all know that I did it! 20 minutes straight. (mind you it was only about 3.5 mph - average). I thought about halfway through that there was no freaking way I could do this but I guess I got a second wind or something. The last half ended up being easier than the first half!

Thanks guys!
OK TMI warning here....
You have been warned.
TOM is kicking my butt today. If I wasn't off for the weekend, I'd have definitely called in sick today. Cramps, bloating and just general blah feeling so I think I will take it easy today. Sending hubby to the store for our groceries in a bit and maybe later I'll feel like starting laundry or something. If not it can wait until tomorrow. But.. I did have a surprise when I checked the scale this morning. A mini-whoosh! Scale said 217.4 which was a complete shock since I swear I feel at least 300 pounds right now.
Not much going on here for the rest of the weekend either. But yesterday was pretty productive. Got my turkeys and a few thanksgiving groceries purchased. Will finish that up later in the week before the crowds. Also took my dad to eat lunch for Veteran's day yesterday and visited with mom and dad. And started finalizing some plans for our Disney/Universal trip in May. We will call and book everything Sunday. And finally, DD was stage managing a play with her drama club last night and we went to that.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Hi there Desiree! You have been so supportive on my journal, and your comments about us having similar thoughts intrigued me that I came on and read your journal today. Interesting that we are both on coumadin. those blood clots are nasty & evil. As the days were moving along through Oct. and Nov. I was really pulling for you and hoping that you would get into the "2 teens"! I am sooooo very happy for you! You have a very positive sound to the journal. Your excitment for the c25k is palpable, and truly inspiring! It sure sounds like you are doing an amazing job, and I couldn't be happier for you.

Aww Vija, thank you!
Yea, coumadin is a way of life now so whether I like it or not it's definitely something I have to factor into with my eating. As you know, those leafy greens have a big problem with messing with those INR levels so I just have to only eat one salad a week. And I basically just modified what I was eating before and made my portion sizes much smaller and then tweaked some recipes here and there to keep the calorie count down too.
And honestly, I think the biggest surprise I've found with the C25K program is that I'm not dreading getting up in the morning to do it. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would actually be eager to run!
This weekend was pretty good. We got our Disney trip booked!
I didn't exercise Saturday but I did my c25k yesterday. Today's plan is to get to the gym after work and do elliptical. And since Chris has to dad-sit tonight, I may try a Biggest Loser workout dvd. I haven't done those in ages and I'm thinking of doing those a couple days a week too.
Have a great Monday everyone!

Awe, sounds like you're doing great Desiree!!! I always get that extra adrenalin rush when a Disney trip is booked:banana:!!! I agree with the looking forward to running thing, I was actually enjoying it (til the shins started hurting), and am actually disappointed that I am not able to do it right now. Never would have imagined it before. Keep up the good work!

Hope your shins are feeling better now Lurker!
Well yesterday turned out to be a big ole bust on the exercise front. I didn't even use my dumbbells last night.
This morning was week 6 day 2 of c25k. And I had a bit of problem today. This is the first day my calves really hurt. I ended up doing only 1/2 of the program today which consisted of a 5 min walk and a 10 min jog. So now I'm thinking one of 2 things. Either I can repeat the day on Thursday or I can just press on with the next days run on Thurs and possibly just repeat this whole week next week. And I don't think I had enough water yesterday. Does that make a difference in how your muscles feel?

Absolutely it can make a difference. Like my chiropractor told me years ago when I used to have back problems. You have to think of water for your body like oil is for a car. It can run when it's low on oil, but things grind and eventually something tears up and sometimes it's really bad. He advised me to drink 1/2 my body weight in oz. of water per day. In other words, if you weigh 200lbs, drink 100oz. per day. I don't know if that's a good barometer, but that's about how much I drink daily either way.
Desiree
11-15-2011, 08:21 AM
Good to know. And I usually do drink that much but for some reason yesterday I think I only had about 50 oz. So that may be my problem.

This might be TMI, but I guage my water intake by my urine color:rolleyes1. If its running clear, I'm doing pretty good, once it's yellow, I know I need more.
Sounds like we're all hitting a bit of a speed bump this week. With enough support and determination, we can pull through it!!!

Hey that's a good way to tell! Nothing wrong with that!
Yea this whole week has not been good on the exercise front. I did do weights yesterday afternoon and my C25K this morning (25 minute run!). But tonight I have to go out to my moms and finalize the thanksgiving menu and grocery list. Since I can't go work out tonight, I'm hoping that I can actually do a workout dvd in the morning (and it's gonna be 35º in the morning so I'll stay inside instead of walk tomorrow).

Well I feel I didn't do too bad yesterday eating wise. I had a little of everything and did not go back for seconds. The scale gods were smiling and as of today I'm at 216! (One pound away from my Thanksgiving goal of 215, for those of you keeping score - hehe).
Exersise may not be in the cards tonight. I've got to go directly after work and finish up our Thanksgiving grocery shopping. Not much left to get but just a few odds and ends though. I will go to the gym tomorrow morning and then around lunch tomorrow we are having a local DIS meet at the Mall! Looking forward to meeting other Louisiana DISers!
Other than that, I'm hoping to get some more Christmas shopping done too. I'm really determined to hopefully get it all done this week thru Black Friday. I really need to sit down, organize and make my plan of attack.

Life has been crazy around here. So needless to say, exercise has been put on the back burner for a bit. I'm hoping that maybe I can squeeze in some gym time today but for sure I will run in the morning before turkey.
But there is some good news. I hit 215.8 this morning. Just barely made it! WHOOHOOO!!!
Hope you all are doing well and you will have a happy Thanksgiving!

Off to a pretty good start this morning! Got my 25 min run in and got our Dining reservations done! Yes our 180 days opened up today and we got Le Cellier! :D :D :D
Now off to start a whole lot of cooking. We have alot to be thankful for this year. Personally, I'm one pound away from 25 pounds lost since I started this on August 22nd! I'm also very grateful for my family and friends both near and far. Even my DIS friends! Hope you all have a wonderful day filled with love (and turkey).

Oh my word I have been slacking on the exercise front this week. I have not done ANYTHING since Thursday. The beginning of the week I think I was just lazy but this last half, I managed to hurt my upper back. It's been aching for a few days now but it has been tolerable. But today Im in some pretty serious pain. Owie! I tried to get hubby to pop it for me and that helped but only momuntarily. I have to get back to exercising though. I may just go do weights tonight at the gym instead of a full fledged ellipitcal or a run. And then just play it by ear for tomorrow.
On a positive note, I'm still hanging steady at 215 even with no exercise. Eating has still been on target at least. But I do need to get my rear in gear again so to speak.
TGIF and hope everyone has a great weekend!

Slinking back in here and hoping that no one is looking. :( Well, I have good news and I have bad news... Good news is that as of today I'm only 3 pounds away from my lowest since I started this journey. I'm at 217 this morning and at my lowest point I was 214. The bad news.. I have to start completely over with the running. I'm so disgusted with myself! The last time I ran was Thanksgiving morning! Ugh! I have no excuse other than laziness I guess. But I've got to get back in the swing of things again. I started W1D1 2 days ago and I'll do w1d2 today. The good news is that I think my daughter and hubby are interested in doing it with me this time.
Soooo I'm back. And I'm determined to be hovering around the 190 point by the time I go to Disney in May. So 27 pounds by May 22nd. I hope that's do-able!

Quick drive by post but I ran 10 minutes consecutively this morning! Most that I've done since Thanksgiving. I think I will keep at that and maybe add a minute or two back unless it feels uncomfortable. I'm going to try to do this 3-4 times per week and hopefully make it to the gym for weight training/elliptical in between.
Weighed in at 219 this morning. I've got to get back to tracking my food as well and my water.
