Oh I can see it all now...Mary Ann, Julia, me, Katie, George and Karen all together...too funny. Keep in mind, Karen is planning on staying until they kick her out, and I did make a promise that I would stay too!!! George still hasn't made up his mind yet...I'm not sure he would stay until the bitter end. So he may be better off just staying at home. But, maybe his knee will be better then...he is having arthroscopic surgery on it next Friday. He is telling everyone that I killed his knee in WDW two weeks ago...so not true. It was on it's way out anyway and he really needs a total replacement. I was just trying to get it moved up a bit!!!!

Well, I don't think it's going to be George bringing the bacon....I think he's going to back out. I think we scare him. Must have been that Wednesday at WDW with her Highness!!! Scared the living bejeebers out of the poor man..all the whoohooing, and 1-2-3...JUMP, and 'not hitting little Buford' etc.....come on guys...after all, he is only a 'man'. We all know how sensitive they are...poor little dears. Just not up to partaying hartay!!!!

Diane don't whop George's knee no more
I think you should shoot him in the knee
Nah. That just doesn't sound right.

chunkage spray danger zones theory :scared1: --this proved invaluable on the da Vinci's Dream ride--(we possessing this knowledge know that chunkage(hurlage)/speed/elevation formula is the true daVinci's Code!) :lmao: --
Boston Tea Party heavenly showers radius! :umbrella:
Sneak a quick kiss & cuddle on the Caterpillar ride! :dance3:
Watch Jean & Chris attempt using last year's refillable mugs!
See DS17 Patrick try to avoid  the whooooooooooooooooooo wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 'adults'! :rotfl2:
Take part in regal pagentry as Her Majesty lets loose her whooooooooooo wheeeeeeeeeeee @ CLP!
Lots of great kiddie rides, fun shows--I think there will be a Cher tribute show this year--get out your bell bottoms & navel rings!--lovely landscaping--& oh, yes! and something about buckets??............ :teeth:
Diane--tell George to come along, Chris trashed his ankle(it is much better, now) so they can hobble about together. Perhaps George can rent an ECV & 'herd' us all along! pirate:

Phil, I've never stayed in any of them, but there are a ton of hotels right off Route 93 in Andover, MA. That will only be about a 15 minutes from Canobie Lake. If you go to Travelocity, and search for them, you will see them. Make sure you map them so you chose one right off the highway. There are about four or five of them.

I just kind of skimmed the posts but there are a few hotels right in Salem about 5 minutes from CLP maybe one exit down from CLP--
Also please, please, please I have a favor to ask from anyone who will be making the trip to CLP----At the park they used to have these machines where you could press out a coin----I have one for myself and 3 of my kids but would like to be able to get one made for my DD4 who has never made it to CLP--They cost $1 I believe---Would any of you going be willing to make a coin up for me?? I would pay you of course!

For the hotel question . . .
To get to Canobie, you take Exit 2 off Route 93. If you take a right off the exit (heading to Canobie), there is a Red Roof Inn (1-603-898-6422) on the right hand side. If you take a left off the exit, there is a Holiday Inn (1-603-893-5511) and Fairfield Inn (1-603-893-4722) on the left (Keewaydin Drive).
Can't make the meet - will be in Florida!

Just a note for those staying at the Red Roof Inn - turn right when you get off exit 2 in Salem. At the next set of lights, take a right onto South Policy Street. The driveway for the Red Roof Inn will be the first on the right. You can see it from the highway but have to make those couple of turns to get to the motel.

And to think I used to love that ride when I was a teen. :confused3 My sister and I used to do handstands when it first started so that we would be hanging upside down when it really got going! (I don't think they allow that now, LOL!)

Hello,
If us new folk (well, new to DIS boards, longtime amusement park/roller coaster fan) are welcome, I may be joining you. In response to the question of park hours from a couple of posts ago, the park's web site lists 11am to 10pm. Usually this is pretty accurate, as the park has the same hours everyday during July and August.
I've organized meet-ups at this park for coaster enthusiast groups and have always found that having at least two meeting times is beneficial. The park offers a discounted admission after 5pm, so I recommend one of the meet times be around 5:30pm or 6pm. Typically, meets that I've organized have been at the entrance area of Yankee Cannnonball. The carousel is a good landmark, but it's right near the park entrance, so if you have a meet time at opening, it might be difficult to get the group organized in that location. The Rowdy Roosters ride is another good central landmark, and it's a little more out of the way at that time.
That's my two cents. If I can make it, I look forward to meeting some of you. If not, have a good time at my favorite New England amusement park.

I did read on their web site that the park opens @ 11am($27.00) and as another poster wrote...discount admisions after 5pm ($17.00). The park looks like it closes @ 10pm.Discount admission for children under 48 in tall !!! Hope this helps :thumbsup2

I'm liking the whole 2 different meet times. We will have cell phones, so if someone arrives in between the two meets and wants to find us, they can call. Karen is very good at answering her phone in the parks!!!
And Jason, we would love for you to join us...we love meeting new friends!!!

A little off topic here but just had to vent , a little. My DS turned 18 yesterday and for his birthday I suggested that he and a friend go to Six Flags for the day to celebrate his Birthday. It is about 1.5 hrs away , so I told him he could sleep over his friends house who lives about an hour away. So last nite I called him @ his friends house to ask how his trip went and he said they didn't go :sad2: . After they drove all the way there they figured it was way too expensive to go !It was 49.99 @ the gate and $15.00 for parking ! Do you believe what a "rip -off" that is ....My son would have to had paid $65.00 total for a day in the park....so needless to say he figured it just wasn't worth it to spend that much money! WDW seems like such a good deal now, compared to that ....I won't be going to Six Flags any time soon. Maybe DS 18 and his friend will want to join us at the CLP Meet... :thumbsup2

And that's the main reason I don't go to Six Flags! Did it once, quite awhile ago. It was expensive to get in, expensive to park, and although nicer than I had thought it was going to be, still not wonderful enough to make the 65 minute drive there and back. Much rather do CLP...not as big, but so much nicer! See you all there!!!

Just a note for future reference. Six Flags tends to have pretty deep discounts available out there if you know where to look. I think Cumberland Farms locations have these coupons...you can also call the park directly and ask point blank if there are any discounts and promotions going on. They'll usually answer honestly because they know full well most folks won't pay the undiscounted gate price.
I do agree that Six Flags is getting too expensive. Don't expect it to get any cheaper, though, as they're very deep in debt and they also want to get more "affluent, considerate families" and less "broke, punk teenagers" through the gates these days. I'm a SF season pass holder and have only been a couple of times this year. $15 for unsecured parking is just too much "empty" expense. I've only been able to justify having an SP because it gets me into all the SF parks--a perk I've already used a couple of times and will use a few more times before the year is out.
Six Flags New England has some really great roller coasters, but on the whole, I'd rather be at (and usually have more fun at) smaller parks like Canobie Lake or Lake Compounce (near Hartford).
-Jason
P.S.: I think someone in this thread (though I may be mistaken) mentioned something about looking into getting a Canobie Lake season pass. At present time, they don't offer them. They don't want to become the regional babysitter. There are rumors, though, that they may re-examine that point of view and start offering them within the next few years.

Okay guys.....we need to plan some spots to meet up....and times. We were thinking of doing two 'official' times. Perhaps one at 1:00 and then one at around 6:00. Don't know if we'll be there to the bitter end, but we'll see. So...how do those times sound to you all? We'll choose appropriate spots in the next day or so. And yes, lime green is the color of choice, as well as anything WDW oriented!!
So, here's hoping that everyone can make at least one of the meet times. Last year there was a basic band of intrepid DISers who stayed pretty much together, while others came and went as they chose.

It's tentative, but here is what I sort of have....have I told anyone how much I hate putting these together?? Anyway.....The meet at 1:00 will be at the International Food Plaza..that's by Kiddieland and the Yankee Cannonball entrance. Look for lime green!
At 6:00, I'm thinking the Portofino Restaurant by the Dance Hall Theater, back by the lake....again, look for the green.
But, this could change based on input of others who may be more familier than I with CLP. So, check back here the night before so you can know 'exactly' what the plan is...but I think it will be as I laid out.

Hey, it won't be a problem to ask. One of the people I'm going with tomorrow may need one. In any case, if you get sore walking around, I do have the crutches available. They are the metal kind that go around your forearm, not the under the armpit style. Hopefully you won't need them!

FYI, they do have some wheelchairs for rent. I'm not sure of the cost since I didn't do that part. The chair we had was an extra wide one so it cost extra, that much I know. It was in crappy shape, we couldn't get the brakes to work but it was usable. At least it rolled well.

Great shots Jean....Chris did a great job. Only a DISer would bring back a mug to CLP!!!! Poor baby couldn't get it refilled though.
Karen hugged her Fraggle all the way home...it was a sad thing to see a 'grown' woman (and I use that term most loosely!!!) hugging a little Fraggle!!!!
It was great fun...Katie is finally in the shower, washing her feet. YUCK!!!! Hey Julia...Katie loves her CareBear!! Thanks so much for winning her one. What a buddy you are.
And Abigail....how you feeling about yourself today missie??? You should be very proud of yourself. We're really glad you got up the nerve to try the rides...it was a ton of fun having you on them with us!

Hey, Diane-
CLP mugs are not like WDW--free refills--no, no, you still pay ($3.50 for a 32 oz soda) or $6.50 w/o the cup, for the soda-
As we all know only very naughty persons would attempt such a thing, let alone refill such a cup 3 times!
Happy line jumper & reader of park maps in the midst of major foot traffic paths,

Oh, by the by, the intrepid, & fearless!, Jason stayed to close out the park!
Indeed, and the crowds quickly retreated--it was akin to a decent evening EMH, except much shorter in duration :). Got rides on Mine of Lost Souls and Starblaster during that last half hour or so.
'Twas a fun day and I enjoyed meeting you all. Whenever ya'll have non-Disney amusement park questions, I'm at your service. :thumbsup2

Jean, I think you forgot Daviedude (wearing by far the ugliest lime green shirt as promised) and his mom!
I hope to meet each and every one of you again, hopefully all together because we had such a great time!
I told my 15 year old son about, "Woo!" He thought it was pretty funny, especially that I yelled it in the restroom only to find out Karen wasn't in there. :rotfl: He said he would have bummed money off of you all by saying (run these words together for the best effect), "Put a couple dollars in my hand woo!"
Oh Jason, I didn't realize you had headed off to the Yankee Cannonball. I would have been honored to ride it with you!

Jason, my DD was quite impressed with all your patches..."Did he really ride all those roller coasters?"
Chris and Jean...Thanks for the great pitcures (boy, we were getting silly by the end of the day).
Diane, thanks so much for putting another successful meet together  .

magnificently green shirt!
Now he must show at the next meet so Chris can get a pic! :thumbsup2
Sorry, we couldn't seem to meet up with Daviedude & his Mom after they trotted off --was it to the Yankee Canonball?--I strong-armed Chris & we headed for the incomparable Cher show! :teeth:
Yes, Jason's patches are awesome! He is one fearless soul! :smokin:
Wonder if they have a Weenie's Meet? We could get patches for Winnie, Tea Cups, POTC, COP... :cheer2:

Heck yeah!!! You actually survived the ''Skater" didn't you??
Katie thought Jason's patches were pretty cool also....just showed her that 'grown-up's' can have a good time too!!!
Next year, I think we'll go back to a Sunday meet....the lines were awful on a Sat, what with the terrific weather, the fireworks. We'll see how it all shakes out.

Hi everyone ...just back from our 3 nt stay in Maine(Ogunquit) and had to quickly check these "Disboards" while starting up the laundry! The 3 of us had a wonderful time on Saturday...the kids got a kick out of meeting everyone ,especially those in their Lime Green (and the one Jellyrolls Shirt). CLP and the Disers were the subject of many conversations we had while up in Maine. Glad I finally got to meet you all ,even if it was for only lunch and a few rides ...let us know when the next meet is and I'll mark the date! :tink: Goofy4tink...THANKS again for organizing the meet ...you did a great job and we had a blast !!! :thumbsup2 MEG&MINNIE

It was MAGNIFICENT! :dancer:
At times, politically incorrect, a cast of half dozens, 4 costume changes! :teeth:
Actually, the impersonator & cast singers had good voices--it must've been no easy feat to sound like Cher! :rotfl:
Okay, climb back down Cher fans--& I just know you're one Mary Anne!--I am a fan of her acting & admit some of her tunes are my guilty little secret
Janice, my arm is recovering just fine! :teeth: No, you did not hurt me--did I wound you? Misery loves company. Aren't we brave troopers?! :sunny:
Wow! you're WDW bound in a matter of days :cloud9:, let's share that ToT photo, now!
I will be riding Dinosaur this fall, wishing you were beside me!
As for me,I think, after 'Skater,' WDW's Dinosaur with it's few million $$$ in animatronics & getting the bejeebers jerked outta me, I should be just fine :thumbsup2
Yeah.
Mary Anne, hoping Julia uses her new table-saving skills for good only! :goodvibes
She's a great student!

I've been looking for the most inappropriate places to shout or at least say WOO!
Today's location was the endodontist's office as she was raising the chair in order to finish my root canal. I didn't yell it but she thought it was pretty funny. I guess I was the first person to do the whole woo thing at her office!

Meg & Minnie, thanks we can not wait for the trip, the anticipation is killing me. Jean , I wish I could ride dinosaur with you in the fall, glad to hear you are okay, and there will be no tot picture with me on that crazy ride. QRUTHIE , reading your posts about your annual gyn, and mammogram, had me laughing so hard, just the visual on docs face after a yelling woo, that will have me laughing all day. Janice, Aengus and Dooza, I hope you have a wonderful time at WDW! Be sure to pose for any ride pictures and shout "Woo!" at random times and in strange places. :rotfl2:
I'm trying to think of the most inappropriate place to shout, "Woo!" at WDW. So far, the best I can come up with is to shout it during the "Two Brothers" song in the American Adventure pavilion. On the other hand, a big, "Woo!" might liven up the Carousel of Progress a bit! :rotfl2:
Have a wonderful trip!
