Since I have commited myself to becoming healthier, I thought the journel was a great way to do it!
To start, here is a bit of history on myself.
I am a 44 yr old who has been married to a wonderful man for 22 years. We have a 17 yr old son, and a 9 (soon to be 10) yr old daughter. We have been Disney fans since we took our eldest to WDW for his third birthday. We have been on several trips, with the children, alone, and in other various combinations.
In recent years, I have had issues with weight, as well as with hip pain. So much hip pain that walking was a problem, and any reaching as well. After seeking help, becoming discouraged with different doctors, I found the right doctor. He has helped me to help myself to improve my health. I have also suffered from a minor stroke. Now, with new information on my health, new orthotics for my feet and to balance my skeleton, and a great outlook, I have lost 33 pounds, and I am able to go for days without limping or feeling a need for a cane! YIPPEE! :yay: Now that I am able to exercise again, and with the elimination of foods causing issues within my body (glueten intolerance) I am on my way! My goal for my 45th birthday in September is to be at 200 lbs. I have 15 more to go! I honestly never thought I would even get close. Nearly a hear ago I had considered resigning myself to my fate. Yet my family just wouldn't let me.
This is the start of my journal, and another tool to help me get to that place with my health that I need to be, and I know with support I can get to!

Thanks for the words of encouragement!
Today was hectic at work, but all is going well. Had a good lunch and my hubby had a nice dinner for me after I came home. I had to ask my boss about getting new uniforms, my current ones are too big! I am still amazed how quickly the loss of fat can change your clothing size.
Off to finish the day, and put the youngsters to bed!

We're all here for the same reason, and we're here to support each other through the good and bad.

thank you Kim! I will certainly read other journals! Sharing encouragement is a BIG help for us all!
Off to work for 9 hours! (I work 11-8 today.) It will be busy and I will really need my walk after work when I get home to calm my legs down!
Hope all have a great day, full of sunshine and positive experiences!
Oh! My DS has to play at Bac. tonight for the seniors! He graduates next year, and he seemed a bit melancholy. We are just trying to get him thru english this year. Seems the teacher and he haven't hit it off, and seem to be on a mental battles over every issue. Only 2 days this week, and 2 next week before finals. I am keeping my fingers crossed it all ends up favorably. It is just fustrating when he has all A's and B's in all the other classes, and will have to struggle to get a C- for this english class. I am glad it is only one child having school issues rather than both.
Off to finish assembling my sack lunch. No excuses for cheating!!

Today was hectic at work. Had to cover a manager who's father-in-law passed away. After 10 hours, I was so hungry when I got home, but I had chichken, and I am waiting for my hubby so we can walk together. He is so supportive, and since I plegded 100 minutes of excercise for June, he is going to do most of it with me! He has always been so positive about everything relating to my health.
Looks like the dog is waiting patiently and I am a bit restless from the short burst of movement I do at work. It certainly won't hurt to do walks today!
Oh--the high school is doing graduation! :cheer2: My son is in 11th grade, and is in the band. We live 3 houses from the school, so you can hear them! It's so wonderful!

Today was a pretty good day. Followed my diet, and walked longer today than yesterday! Did some preliminary plannig for our up coming trip to Mackinaw Island! Hubby has been researching local restaurants to find ones that I can go to, since with a glueten free diet, I am the fussy one! Off and doing! Hope all have a great day!

The summer has hit at work! For the last 4 days it has been non-stop! This is actually good, since I come home and my legs are achy, and I need to walk to get them to relax, since I do only short burst of walking at work. Did my first weigh in for our summer challenge. I am very excited! Hubby is so commited to helping me. He goes on my walks with me. This week will be a hectic for him since it is finals, and lots of papers to grade, as well as graduation this Friday for some of his students. Many of them he has had in various classes for all 4 or more years. He enjoys teaching at the college level, and it certainly encourages our children to continue with their education.
Well, off to finish things so that it's off to work I go! :rolleyes1
Thanks for all of those reading and commenting. Really adds that extra incentive to 'just get it done'!

Had to miss out a day on journal entry. Storms last night were rough.
Today the kids have a half day. My son has already commented that 'CARS' comes out this week. He's 17 and a car fanatic. Prints pictures of them off the internet of ones he wishes he owns. Ahhhh...the simplicity of youth.
Did my walk this morning before the storms hit again. The weather looks wicked out there. Still trying to find a way to get to WDW before the year and half that we have planned. Oh well, life does get in the way sometimes.
Diet has been good. Did go out for premium ice cream with DD last night. Looks like 2 walks today!
Off and running, as usual.

Hello to everyone! All is well. We are getting ready for the count down to our trip to Mackinaw Island! Yippee! Luggaged is being aired, cars are getting cleaned and washed, and school is out.
Seems like I have gotten back on track. Had a week of no weight loss, and when I did my Thurs am WI, I was down 1.5 pounds! Yippee!
DD's friend is here. There are some medical issues with her grandma, and we offered to keep her tonight to help out. Our prayers go out to the family.
Good luck to all those working on weight loss!

Oh my! This crazy ankle is still driving me bonkers. My dr wasn't in Friday, and leave Monday for vacation. Yikes! Guess I will just have to baby it and make sure it just doesn't get worse! Just that it does cut down on the walking, and increases the irritability.
Diet is going well, DS's friend is still following DS around, and life in general is good!
Have a great loss day!

Hello Ladies!
Today the rains came. We are 'hibernating' in the house. Still resting from that great vacation we had.
For having cheated on my diet by enjoying ice cream while on vacation, I didn't feel so bad when I stepped on the scale to do my weekly weigh in. I lost another pound! Yippee! I am falling behind on my exercise challenge, but I did do the treadmill today. I can do 30 minutes on it, then I am so bored! Even with music in my ears I have to really push myself to finish. The outside is so much better.
The DS has come home from work, off to see whats going on!
Best to all, and thanks so much for the words of support. I have great support from my family, but it is different from others who are doing the same thing that I am.
Now, if the money genie would visit more often, there would be nothing else to do! With DS going into his senior year, I can only imagine!
Keep on losing!

Boy, it's been busy these last few days. We also had some pretty good storms. Today the weather was wonderful, and I certainly enjoyed much of it. Went on a 'Sunday Drive' with DH, and stopped at Lake Michigan, Muskegon Lake, White Lake, and the play ground. Had a blast! Walked home from my Mother-in-laws house with DD tonight. We did well. Dog lasted the entire way, and I wasn't so sure that she would.
DS is off with friend and his family on a canoe trip. It will be quiet here for a few days. I always forget how noisey teen age boys can be.
Diet has been going well. Shared a sweet with sweetie today, but did all the extra out door stuff to off set it.
Looks like the rest of the family is home.
Loose well everyone!

Now if the sun could only come out at work! Boy, have been playing tug of war there lately. Hope they get it together.
DS just came back from his short canoe trip with friends. He'll probably stay up all night and sleep til noon tomorrow. I certainly hope not. I try to keep them on a normal schedule even in the summer. It can be hard though.
Eyes are getting tired. Doesn't help I broke my glasses and haven't been in to get them fixed. Time just hasn't flowed well enough for that.

Thanks for the thoughts Kim. It is hard to diet while working at BK. I have worked for a BK since I was in college in early 1982. I only took a brief side trip and worked for 7 years at a TCBY. I am better at ignoring it, more because of the results I am seeing now. It really helps. So does all the support from my family and online with friends and sites like this one. My only problem is getting a regular schedule so that I can get a regular exercise schedule. I am sure I am not the only one that has life get in the way of our wants and wishes! LOL
Today I am sending lots of good thoughts for you and your family. Hope this current cat scan can find something that they can treat with your mom! Hugs to you!
Finally a day off to enjoy the beautiful weather after the rain and storms. DD is doing basketball camp this week. She just enjoys it. I am so proud of her. Both DS and DH are working tonight so her and I will have a girls night. She loves them, and so do I. A wonderful way to bond and remain grounded.
The gas company was here to make sure our meter isn't leaking. At least they are checking it! Now, if I could remember and get the sprinkler guys out here to check that. With all the rain, it hasn't been much of an issue.
Off to the doctor's to check on my health and for my orthotic inserts. They have been bugging me, and caused an ankle issue. Hope to get it worked out today!
Best losses to all!

Just wanted to share the sunshine with you Kim, and all others. It is a beautiful day here in West Michigan, and looks like it will be all week.
Have decided to join a gym to help with the toning issues I need to address from weigh loss. Didn't think 35+ pounds would do that to someone. Just very glad to see it leave!
Been at the same weight for over 2 weeks now. Hope to change that at WI on Monday morning.
DS went to see POTC2 the other night on opening day. pirate: He said it was really good. Guess it's on it's way to breaking box office numbers. Might even beat out Spiderman for the number one spot for a weekend. I loved Spiderman. Still waiting for the third one next summer!
Thought about taking a quick trip to WDW in November. Talked myself out of it because would rather go later for longer. This is DS's senior year, and I am sure it will be pretty costly for things. He leaves for a summer youth program in engineering in 2 weeks at Michigan Tech Univ. Hope he has a great time. He wants to go into chemical engineering so he can specialize in pyrotechnics so he can do fireworks at WDW. Then I will have more reasons to go and enjoy it all!
Well, did the walk this morning and planning on another one tonight. I am having my orthics checked, because still having some ankle issues with them, and I would like to get it worked out.

Did drop off the diet a bit while gone for the last 36 hours. Going to do some extra exercising. I know I won't be able to exercise for all the additional calories, but at least it will keep me aware of what I am doing, and why.

Alright! Once again, busy at work. Even tho I think everyone has power again. Just too hot to cook I guess! But, with DD and I watching so many foods, we just have to eat at home as much as we can. Altho more places are coming along with great salads with grilled chicken and other sea foods.
My friend called yesterday. He had been feeling poorly and went to the dr's for the first time in years. He had some bad news. He is diabetic, and has hypertension. He has been neglecting himself long enough that he has caused damage to his kidney's and probably his heart. Today he was doing tests for heart function. I am very sad about this. But, he is his own worse enemy. He is very over weight, never considers eating healthy, and hasn't exercised in years. He has gained weight even since the holidays. He is only 35. Well, time for relaxing before bed!

I have not been here in ages it seems, but really only a week.
School starts Tuesday. My DS is a senior this year. We gave him the option of a combined birthday gift and graduation gift if he didn't want a graduation party. He said 'SURE'. SO---we are going to send him and his best friend of 16 years to WDW! Yep! I must be crazy, but I feel very comfortable sending them there. Both boys have been to WDW several times, understand it all and appear to be fearless! They went on a summer youth college program this past summer and did great--they even drove the 10 hours by themselves. We are still tossing around the details, and all that! I am very excited about all this, probably more so than he is! :rotfl:
Well, guess it's time to get it together, get exercising, and get to work!

All is well. Have certainly stalled on weight loss. Going to have to increase the excercise. I have in my agenda starting Curves now that the kids are back to school. I am sure that will help. I am not walking as much as I used to. So, I will work on that.
Yesterday was a strange day. First thing in the morning the city knocked to tell me that the water was being turned off so they could work on replacing some lines in the sewer. That was exciting. So, while wondering what I was going to do all day without water, work called and asked me to cover a sick manager. Of course! But now I am behind in getting fall cleaning started. And here I am on the computer! LOL. Well, I do have to go to work and all. I hear the big trucks out there again. Wonder if they know what they are doing?
Should jump in the shower in case they decide to turn water off again!

Hi Wendy, It's good to see you post again. I always enjoyed that back-to-school time when I worked at night and had some "me" time during the day. My house was in much better order and I seemed to be in control. Now the kids are gone and by the time I get home from work, I want to crash.
I think you'll like Curves. I just started back again. The workout is great for strengthening and toning. I don't feel like I get the cardio that I need from the workout though. You do walk, so you can use that for cardio.
Hope you get the water issue fixed. We've been thru that before too. We had every container we could find filled with water. Have a great weekend! Denise

Water problems are solved! It only took until 1100pm that night! YIKES! They were out a bit early to be sure all is well. I hope it stays so!
Well, DS is very excited about his upcoming trip. We have finally decided on a date, and a hotel. We are hoping for a great package, since for the last 2 years from mid-aug to late sept they have had one. Just need to keep an eye out for when it gets within 6 months to get air fare. Seems like lots of deals now, but will there be in Feb when I need to buy for Aug??
Well, off to finish up and to sleep!

Wow--a crazy work week, but survived. A much quieter one coming up.
The kids are getting into school and having a blast. DD is joining 5th grade band. She is going to drums just like her brother. So, that makes it cheaper, we already have the drums!
About time to get moving. Been conserving energy all morning, time to burn some up!

OH--where to start?
I am worried about my other friend. My one friend with the health issues is doing ok. He is on a treatment that is hopefully 'awakening' his nerve ending in his hands and feet to get them to 'feel' again. Now, my other friend had been dating this guy off and on. She thought it was going to be a 'on--to forever' thing. She hasn't heard from him in 2 weeks, and yesterday she found out that he was VERY ill. Encephelitis and viral menigitis. Very bad. No one thought to contact her because they had believed that he wasn't seeing her any longer. What a shock to her! Poor girl. My heart and love goes out to her.
I now believe she needs to work on herself--as my DH says, if the inside isn't fixed, nothing outside will work. She needs to feel that she can be by herself and not have to rely on someone else. For today, I will be there for her, a shoulder to cry on, and someone to remind her that she is wonderful.
As they say, one day at a time!

I am so excited!
I have planned a princess tea party for the 21st for a few of my close friends. We will have a blast! The invites are going out today, and my friend made them. They are adorable. In the invite it notes that tiara are required, with princess attire optional but encouraged! My DH has been helping with a healthy menu, since I eat gluten free. So, we are going to try to make scones with an alternate flour-less flour. party: We will try a few different recipes until we can get one that works. Also going to do pumpkin mouse in a chocolate shell, individual ones. We are going to have a blast! We have a fireplace that will help with the atmosphere. I am so going to have fun!
Well, with that over :rotfl: I can calm down and get on with the rest of the day!

Seems the fall cold fairy found me. I feel pretty yuky!
Still excited about the tea party! :goodvibes Going to try a few recipes this weekend to make scones sans flour. Yummy!
Not much news going on. My friend is still struggling with her former love interest. We had a great time at her birthday get together. We skipped desert, my reasons for weight and theirs because of margaritas! :rotfl:
Looks like the weather will be better for a bit. Heard DS's band marching in front of the house this morning, getting ready for Homecoming on the 13th.
Should really get a move on things. Have to get my car, had the brakes done. Now I am in mourning for the loss of lots of cash!

Hi Wendy! Sorry to hear that you've been feeling lousy. Hope you're continuing to improve. Seems like a bunch of people get these change of season colds and viruses. I had a touch of one also, and the weird thing is that the only places I went to last week was my Dr. and the radiologist office.
You tea party sounds like such fun! Kind of like tea at the Grand Floridian. It's a great idea for a "girlfriend" get together. I'm sure you'll have a blast!

Well, went over to Detroit and back yesterday. Had a good time. I so enjoy seeing my college buddy. She isn't as well as she could be. Although the cooler weather is much easier on her to be out and about. She looks really good! She was diagnosed with MS last year. It was pretty upsetting, since her mom past away from MS 2 years earlier. But she enjoys life. She had a good role model. Her mom was always very optimistic. She did tear up when the Tigers lost to the Cardinals. Well, when you have been born, raised, and still live in Detroit, I guess that is gonna happen! There is always next year! Her husband just came back from China--he was over there recruiting and checking on clients for Federal Mogel. And he is pretty ill. Guess he must have eaten something that didn't agree with him. He was ill enough to go to the doctors. Guess he's dehydrating from being ill. Now she can baby him a bit and all that! She loves taking care of him. He's gone traveling around the globe, so she certainly enjoys the time he's with her, even if he isn't at the top of his game!
Not much else! Did great on diet yesterday! Didn't exercise as much as I should have, just the morning walk and such. But doing a few sets of stairs at the Palace should count for something :goodvibes .
Well, off to catch up and then run a few errands before work!

DS is going to U of M 's tech day to do some engineering seminars with his buddy--the same one going to WDW with him in August. It is always scary when I send him on his own, but he and his friend are both very good boys. I know they will be safe.

Well, ear infection isn't doing so well. Have to go to a specialist. It will help me alot. I still went for my daily walk, even tho I swear the ground was tilted!
Got new glasses, and the bi focals are stronger. That could be why the ground tilted!

Hello all!
Oh Denise, that sounds very yummy! If we mind melt I can relive the flavors from your memory! :rotfl: Hey, a new diet! Wonder if it will work! I am sure we can market it!
Sorry I have been gone, but DS (17) was very ill, and I just babied him till I couldn't stand it any more! He is finally getting better. He is recovering from pneumonia. Went to the ER tuesday, and they just sent us home with its a virus thing (fever at 103). He stayed in from school wednesday, and when I got home from work at midnight, his fever was still 103. Thursday morning the hospital called and said the xray tech said he had pneumonia. Well, I just took him to his own dr and he said yep, he could hear it. We did have to do a breathing treatment as his Oxygen was low. And finally, Sunday morning he woke without a temp. Was quite the experience. We did lounge around alot. Made some yummies for him, made some traditional dinners that he liked, and just hung out and watched the Ohio.U of M game. (brother in law grad from UofM). So, I did not exercise as I wanted to, but did watch what I ate, and still at the same weight as last week. Oh well, time to kick it into gear. Still craving cheesecake (I don't know how you can walk past Denise and not walk thru the doors just to smell! I would have to! ) but behaving as I should!
Laundry is almost done, and vaccumming is left. So off I go! Still have to take DS to dr's for a recheck to make sure he is doing as well as he looks!
Great losses to all and to all a great Thanksgiving!

Good to see you post again Wendy! I was wondering what was up. I'm glad to hear that your son is doing better. I'm sure it was a scary time for him and you too.
I know that you walk as your exercise routine. How do you keep motivated to do it? With me it's hit or miss. I always have the best intentions, but then lunch time rolls around and I decide to run errands instead like the bank, post office, drug store, Target....the list is endless. Now that its dark when I get home, I don't do the neighborhood thing either. Sometimes I get so annoyed with myself.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Our daughter will be visiting from NY on Friday and staying over till Sat., so it will be nice to have her here.

Hello to all! And to all a wonder holiday!
Everyone is doing great here. Son is feeling so much better. He looks rested and no longer coughs or looks like he's melting. Finally! I did go to the doctor's about some of the issues I have been having with sleep, and ankle pain and etc. (Sometimes I think I am a big baby!) I have fibromyalgia and he put me on a new but very mild antidepressant to help with the sleep issue and extremity pain. He says getting a good night sleep with help with all the other issues. Ok, I thought that was weird, so I looked it up on the internet, and yes, it is something they do. They even use it for foot pain for severe diabetics. Wow. I am just anxious to have a full nights sleep! My friend asked me if I was going to be even more happy (I am know for always smiling and singing and such), I told her I couldn't get any happier--unless it was to win the lottery! Well, maybe I should play the lottery so that my chances on winning improve! You never know!

Boy--I feel pretty whinny today. I feel pretty yucky today. It snowed last night. First snow since November. And this is Michigan! It only snowed about 8 flakes. And, even tho I haven't gained during December, I haven't lost either. Exercise is the key, and I am not using it as I should. I think I need motivation. I did get a great compliment the other day! Boy, the weather is pretty yuky here in West Michigan. Snow, Freezing rain, and thunderstorms. What next>
Had to take DS to dr again yesterday. We have to go to the allergist again. We haven't gone since he was 12 or so. We have to be re-tested for what he is allergic to, and start on immunotherapy (shots) again. The stress will be worth it. It made such a difference the last time. We go on the 15th, 3 days after his 18th birthday. I keep trying to get to the point where we can go to a regular dr, rather than his peditrician, but we just can't get there. Oh well.

Hello All.
Had a nice weekend. The weather did disagree with some heavy rain. This is Michigan, and who knows. Hard to imagine a week ago we were in a blizzard. It is nearly 50 out today. The birds are singing, and all is good.
Yesterday was DS's birthday and I did indulge in cake. Gluten free cake, with a sliver of regular cake. It was yummy. DH brought home a chocolate sculpture from the Culinary Arts students' display for an envent held last Friday. Made of dark and milk chocolate. Gave the large heart piece to his girlfriend, and the 2 large base blocks will have to be melted down and made into something, fudge perhaps. If I wave a magic wand, I know it will all be sugar free and calorie free!
Today is going to be an outside walk day. Maybe I will take 2 walks. The sun isn't really out, but it is very warm outside and the dog will love it.
Been doing better on those non meal eating moments. Staying busy always helps. Today is also laundry and vaccuming day, so I won't have time to indulge. Helps that there isn't really anything to indulge on in the house but gluten free cake and 2 large hunks of dark chocolate! lol
I have a doctor's appt today, have a vertabrae that is nagging me and I want to make sure nothing is going on. I did fall against the large equipment sink at work a few years ago. With the fibromyalgia, I just want to keep on top of things.
DD is on her way in for lunch. She is here for 45 minutes and then goes back to school. It is great living only 3 houses from the school. Kids are able to come home when I am here. It is great.
Not much else, DH did have me reserve a 5 night stay at WDW for December. Nothing is definite. It will all depend on DS and where he ends up for college. And that of course will depend on his new allergist, and if he will let him go into a new envioronment while undergoing shot therapy. Guess we will know more later.
Best to all!

Good morning to everyone!
It is a bright sunny day out, and I work 12 - 9. Yuk! Did do the treadmill because just easier today, and did watch a bit of Harry Conick Jr while walking.
Today will be a busy day at work. This week our school has half days for parent teacher confrences. lol--don't think I spelled that right!
Well, nearly time to get to work, and all that jazz! DS had a wonderful 18th birthday. I am so glad!

Hi Wendy, Hope all was ok with your Dr. appt. How wonderful that your hubby wants to go to WDW in Dec.! I hope everything comes together for you so that you'll be able to go. I'm hoping for a short trip next winter, but DH will need some convincing.
Have a great big beautiful tomorrow! Denise

HI all.
Well, Dr appt went well. He said just to watch the area and if it starts to give me problems, we will look further. Unfortunetly I know that means an MRI. I really don't care for those, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
Tomorrow is DS's allergist appt. We will see how that goes. I know it is going to just wipe him out, as they are going to re-test him for shot therapy. I will just keep him home from school and baby him a bit.
Lunch was salad. Dinner will be probably cereal since we have conferences tonight. DD does just fabuolus! It is always a pleasure to go to her!
Well, sounds like they are busy up front and I should go and see what is going on!
Take care!

Hello all.
Went to DS's allergist appt today. They were doing the scratch tests and had to stop them because he is what they call dermagraphic. Oh well. Instead we had to go to the lab and have 10 vials drawn of blood. He's a bit crabby, so I gave him motrin and told him to go to bed. A bit of stress so I had desert for lunch. I didn't finish it, because I realized what I was doing. So, dog had way too much sugar. Good thing I am going to work. :rotfl2: guess DD will have to take an extra long walk with her. At least it isn't rain/snowing out right now. It is a bit cold.
DS's dr said DS has nearly all symptoms there are for those who manifest allergies. Yippee. He has dermititis, nickel allergies, dust mites--and those are the ones they confirmed before they stopped the scratch test. I will tuck him in and give him a dvd to watch. DD will be here if he has any problems. DH had an emergency and had to work. I also work. They both could use a quiet day at home.
Other than the desert indulgence, not a bad day. I am going to Treadmill before work because it is easier than running around the neighborhood. Not as relaxing tho.
Off to finish catching up and on to reality!

Had a better day at work and with diet. No indulges with left over birthday cake. And it isn't because there isn't any :rotfl:
I reviewed my recent meal and such consumptions and I really need to increase the water intake. I just can't push it, especially at work. I do get in 24 ounces at least at work, but that's it. With working in food service, I am on my feet, and busy. I am unable to just sip all day (which I am able to do more at home). I usually drink a bottle at break, a bottle at bank reconsiliation, and a few small dixie cups during the day. It just doesn't seem to be enough. Is there a miracle cure out there?
DS is much better today. He doesn't think he did very well on physics test tho. I am sure he did just fine. He just came back from a drum clinic with the percussion group at school. He won some drum sticks. He enjoyed it.
I gave him a book for teenagers that is about peer pressure and such that has a definite faith undertone. He was pretty positive about it. It is just sometimes I don't have the answers, and sometimes I just don't get asked the question. I hope it helps him.
It is late, and DH will be home soon.
Happy St Pat's Day everyone

Hi Wendy, Hope all is well with you. Sounds like your son might be having a rough time, so I hope he can work thru that peer pressure. I know that its not always easy being a "good" kid. My son went thru some down times now and then. He was in the band, scouts, got good grades etc., so even though it makes you feel proud as a parent, the pressure that surrounds them in school is not always easy. Teens are not very tolerant of those who are not in the same mold as themselves. Just hang in there and I'm sure with your support, he'll get thru this time.
Since you mentioned trying to drink more water, I thought I'd suggest something that I like. Have you tried the flavored water that is 0 calorie, and is also carbonated? I've purchased it in Walmart and Acme, so I would think the other stores have it also. I usually buy the large bottle-about 32 oz. The flavoring really helps me drink larger quantities.
Have yourself a nice Sunday! Denise

Hello all.
Things are well. DS feels much better. DH and DD are working on de-dusting everything so DS's allergies will mellow out.
Did good on diet yesterday. Today I am home so it is so much easier to make sure all goes well.
Denise, I will try that water. With it being 32 oz, then I know I have to finish the bottle for that day. I need all the help I can get! Thanks for the good thoughts for DS. Peer pressure can be deadly.
Sounds like I need to help upstairs. Hope nothing too crazy.

Sorry to hear about your DS. My middle DS17 (18 in july) is very asthmatic & allergies/infection are the trigger. He was tested in KS when he was 6 & was 'hyper-allergic" to everything but dogs & house dust. Had 2 shots in each arm every week for 5 years & was pretty much under control. Now that we've been here 6 years, his allergies are getting worse(told it takes time for them to show in a new climate) & he probably needs tested/shots again. Is your DS on any preventive meds? Mine takes strong Allegra & Singular daily & it really helps.
Journalling is really helpful, isn't it? Being accountable is tough!
Hang in there & have a good week this week!

Thanks for the kind thoughts Julie! I left a babbling note on your journal.
Well, I missed a few days. Was very ill Monday--did go to work, but came home, went to bed. Tuesday felt pretty yuky, but did go to work, and again came home. This time, when I went to bed, I slept from noon to 10 am the next morning with 3 hours of being up in the evening. Felt much better Wednesday. So, thought I would log in to journal, and I couldn't get on. So, I went to work. Did stay the entire time this time!
DH and DS just left for their college visit to Mich Tech. DS is so excited. I just hope the allergist doesn't nix the idea. We will see when we get all the test results back.
DD is doing great. She has been very conscious of her food intake and the calories that go with it. She is my princess. She is currently at an after school activity called 'Girls on the Run'. She did it last year, and loved it. This year should be easier for her since she now has orthotics in her shoes. No more grumbling about knee pain.
Off to catch up with everyone!
Have a great day and a happy one!

Today is absolutely beautiful outside. The pooch is in high heaven. The sun certainly makes everyone feel wonderful and happy.
My mom called from sunny FLA today. She is home sick and ready to come back. They are trying tosell their retirement home down there and it isn't going very fast.
DD and her best friend are here for the night. They are still on the only 2 hours on tv/video game thing. It is something the 5th graders do. It is very enlightening to us parents. Guess the dog will get another walk! Lucky her!
Not much else going on. DH and DS called this morning from Marquette. They are on their way to Houghton and MTU. They are probably in the middle of their campus tour. I am sure things have changes quite a bit since I graduated in 1984.
Playing online disney music. Always makes me happy.
Hope the allergies are mild in the UP so DS has a great time. Sure is quiet around here today!

Hi Wendy,
Just read alot of your posts...it's so easy to stop loosing when life gets crazy! I've been stuck for a year until recently. With my water I just started filling 64ounce(2liter) bottle and make sure it's empty by time I go to bed. I really makes a difference for me!
I hope you and your DS are feeling better! Thanks for the support on my post it really helps! Congrats on your weight loss! Have a great weekend!

Yesterday was just too beautiful so today is so foggy I can't see down the block. Well, it is Michigan.
Not much else going on. Did talk to DH on phone last night. The boys are enjoying their trip and today is the all day parent/student activities. They also have tickets to the jazz band's anniversary concert tonight. DS wants to audition for the jazz band when he gets there. He's a drummer and a pianist. His grandmother gave him a full size electic key board for Christmas so that he can take it with him to college and not have to worry about finding a piano to play. He plays about 2 hours or more a day, with just fiddling. One of his passions.
Going to go and chat on with others!

Boy, work was long, yet it seemed to go by quickly.
DD visited with DH's mom today. They have a blast when they are together. My DH has only 1 brother, and since my children are her only grandchildren, she is really having a blast hanging out with DD. Thank goodness I had one of each for her!
DD and I had a nice weekend. I did miss her today. I have a weeks' vacation during their spring break starting the 31st. We are planning a night out to make up for me having to work while it was just us.
DH and DS should be home about 10 pm tonight. I hope they enjoyed themselves. They should have some great info from the college for me to pour over.
I didn't finish laundry last night, so I guess it will have to be tonights' final project. Haven't watched TV since Thursday night. SO maybe I can sneak Emerl Live in tonight!

It is a beautiful day out today! Had to work earlier, and have to go in again, so I don't really get to enjoy much of it. DH did grill a steak outside for dinner. Yummie! 2 green veggies, and a healthy dinner is served.
DH and DS had a great time in the UP. I am glad. We have lots of info to make better decisions for his stay up there. Just have towait to see what the dr says about allergy shots.
Forgot to weigh self this morning. Will have to do it tomorrow. Hope it's good news, even if it is only .5 pounds!

A nice day today. Went to lunch with a friend, had boneless/skinless chicken. Had a nice visit. The dog enjoyed her walk, and since she hasn't really been out too often since January, it is still a tug/run.
DD had her play today. She had 4 speaking parts. 3 short and 1 long. She did great! She had fun, and all the kids seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Well, I still have to go to work, so just a quick accounting of lunch, and well, stir fry for dinner, and I did treat a bit to light ice cream. (Trying to bribed myself to go into work--today will be the hardest with not really sleeping much last night, well this morning, and still getting up about the usual time.)

Hi Wendy,
Sounds like you've been busy! Aren't those school plays, concerts, etc.just great? The kids work so hard and are so proud of their efforts. I found myself watching a concert on our local school tv channel, and I didn't know one kid from that school. It was just too cute!!!

Still having a nagging ache at my one verabrae. Dr just happens to be gone. I guess I will just handle it.
Was going to walk outside today, but the weather wasn't very good. Rainy and very windy! Lake was beautiful tho.
Well, DD isn't feeling her best, so I will finish up and play dr mom. One of my favorite jobs!

Thank you Jamie!
She is still feeling a bit under the weather. Says she can't lose the sore thoart. If it is still there after her trip to the zoo with friends tomorrow, I will have to take her to the dr. The entire family has allergies, and hers are worse at this time. Maybe time to put her on adult antihistamine rather than child.
Well, I was off and didn't journal for a few days. I worked 15 hours one day, and then 10 the next. The 10 hour day was at a different store because they fired someone. Not the best time to lose management. Summer is coming up and tourism will increase. Well, maybe tourism will increase. Hard to say with gas nearly 3 bucks a gallon. I certainly don't go very far with that kind of price.
Diet hasn't been it's best. Of course I am only eating a single meal a day the last 3 days. And a snack. Of course, it was ice cream yesterday and today. :sad2: But I just think of the last room with boxes to organize and the house will be done. Well, 2 minor closets to dust. I once again am bribing myself into working :lmao: At 45 you would think I would be over it!
Well, looks like tread mill is going to have to be my friend this week. I was so looking forward to being able to go down to the pier and walk. Isn't is spring yet? Oh wait, it is Michigan!
A few more posts, and treadmill time before the family all tracks back home and needs attention. DH has the laundry under control, so that isn't an issue today.
Off and running!
Best to all and great losses!

Hi Wendy!
Too bad the weather isn't cooperating for you. I like to walk outdoors so much better also. It sounds like you live somewhere near the water. Do you get the chance to walk there often? I just love to walk near the ocean, river or pond...whatever body of water that I can find. I pass a nice park on my way home that has a stream and the path is very close to a well-traveled road, so I feel safe there. DH also meets me occasionally.

Hi all
I have been logging my food intake on a calorie counter these last few days. I am overwhlemed by some things. Such as Sunday I had less than 900 calories. Now on Monday, I had nearly 1600. I don't feel I ate more or less either day, it was just that Monday was a dine out meal rather than in home. Good thing I am not doing much of that. We used to, but we have really cut down. Too costly, both money wise and health wise.
The weather is yuky today. It is suppose to snow tomorrow, well, this is Michigan! The midwest can have all four seasons in one week! Even two in one day!
DD's friend is coming over today. That will be nice. They both are readers, so I imagine some of the afternoon will be very quiet. :yay:
DS had burned his arm and it looks worse today than the day he did it. He has to go back tomorrow morning. It is really ugly. We are washing it and putting on antibiotic cream and silvadene on it. He makes some awful faces.
It will get better.
He liked his visit to Lawerance Tech yesterday. Wasn't as impressed as he was with Michigan Tech. Let's just hope the allergist will let him go away to college. Our return appointment to plan therapy is the 19th. I am very anxious.
Off to man the life force in the home!

Weather is yukier today. 40 mile an hour wind and snow. It was 65 just a few days ago. Heck, it was nicer this morning. Treadmill again. I have been watching seaon 2 of House while walking. Helps to get in the 45 minutes I want to reach.
Time for a walk and to have DH message some pain gel into my trigger points. He is such a good man! Cleaned the kitchen up after dinner so I could catch up on my journalling. He even vaccumed today while I took DS to drs.

Dieting is good. Been logging info on sparkpeople and it is giving me the calories and fats and carbs. So, I have cut things out, mostly those with high dead carbs. Calories are more stable the last 2 days. And today will be the same.
Gotta go. My car is dead, and DH is trying to charge the battery since DS drove it last night and it doesn't work today. Thinking he just didnt' shut the door all the way and the battery drained down.

There are cookies that will be going as well. I haven't really been snacking on them, but sooner of later, I will fall and grab onto them to save me! :rotfl2:
Had a few long days at work 11.5 hours for 2 days in a row. I am tired. Slept like a log last night, and I am enjoying the day I had off today. Even got up early and did some errands with DH. He didn't have to work until tonight, so we did Lowes, Meijers, and car wash. The snow is nearly all gone, and the sun was out today. Was able to take a short walk with dog. The TM is broken, and it isn't pretty. DH says he and DS can fix it. I hope so. Those walks help my legs to work out the cramps from short bursts of movement at work. Oh no! Did I just say that exercise is working! :goodvibes

DS brought home his cap and gown for graduation today. They graduate May 25th. Hardly seems like he should be old enough. I stil look at him and see an 8 yr old not an 18 yr old. Guess it will always be that way!

It is hard to see our kids as adults. Looks like we both have milestones this year with our sons...your's graduating High school and heading off for college, and mine getting married in August. Yikes! Our lives really do fly by.
Hope you got some more relaxing time in, and have a good week ahead! Denise

Hello ladies!
Yes, it is hard to imagine our children as adults. Guess I will just have to do it!
Bekki--London! Wow! Talk about going out and making it in the world! That is wonderful.
Denise--married in August. Wow! I am having a hard time with graduation. Marriage I am sure would send me to the nut house! :rotfl:
This weekend was ok. Did have a brownie for dessert the DH made for the kids. I did take my walks outside since it finally is above 40 here. Dog loved it and so did I. DD went with me on the first one on Saturday. I had to go solo on Sunday, so I went for a longer one.
As long as the weather keeps up, I will be ok without the TM. DH and DS are going to fix it, since this has happened before. They have the bolt they need, now I just need to get them to do it!
Have a great day to everyone!

Hi all
You are right Jamie--time does fly. Just wished it wouldn't all the time.
Treadmill still down. On a good note, the weather has been great. Today was over 60 degrees. Dog certainly loves it too!
Well, on food intake, I had chinese for lunch, for I skipped dinner. I probably shouldn't have, but I will probably have pop corn later while relaxing before coralling the kids to bed. DS wants to watch a movie. He picked out Bobby. Should be a bit educational as well.
Off to finish up before the day is all gone!

The treadmill is still down. It's ok, since it has been in the 60's still. The dog is loving it. The yard is starting to look like it needs to be mowed.
Well, DS had his doctor's appt. Seems we will not have to do shots. YEAH! But he will have to get back on track and focus more on changing his lifestlye to meet his allergy needs. That means when he goes to college, he has to de-dust his room religiously and keep his bedding encased. AND take his medication. I still think that he seems better on the new medication. They did give him some steriods to take to get rid of the skin issues he has.
Ok, now about me. Took dog on a car ride, and she was very vocal on stopping at the Whippi Dip. I got her a baby cup of vanilla and me a twist cone. Of course, then we had to take a long walk to work it off. :rotfl:
Well, looks like lunch is done and DH is on his way home.
Chat with every one later

Things are good. Weather is good. Going to walk the dog to get my minutes in for the challenge. It is to rain tomorrow. DH may have to fix the treadmill tomorrow. We are all home, so it should be able to get done.
Off and walking. Will have to catch up on all my chatting tomorrow, since I also go to work in an hour!

Hi everyone!
Thanks for stopping by while I was out for the last week working 9 pm to 6 am and all that it disrupts! I imagine it will take another week to get back to my normal times! :lmao: Well, what I call normal!
Beth! Thanks for stopping in. I will check out your journal to see our similarities. Yes, it sure helps to follow along with those that have to same goals, and experiences. I really enjoy this forum. It keeps me focus, because I would have to share in my own disappointments. Although, I did do Ice cream with DD the other night. Prom for DS and we just needed the bonding time.
I am still in a slug with weight loss. I know having a messed up schedule doesn't hurt. Last time I did this, I gained 5 pounds, but lost them all in a week. So, with the 3 I have gained since last week I am hoping comes off again quickly, with some additional pounds with it. Walking outside helps, and I am upping my water intake. That is the hardest, with being at work for 10 hours at a time, without the real opportunity to take a break away from the environment. DH will bring me meals or come to eat with me so I am doing what I want to with my diet. He still allows my diet coke addition. I do take a green tea suppliment and fiber and calcium. I really need to get walking faster. I think that will help.
Enough blahhing. I am ready!
Ciao to all!

Hi Wendy:
I'm betting that those 3 lbs come off really fast once you get back to your usual schedule. Its so nice of your dh to bring you meals when you're working, though! Just wondering, does he walk with you as well? Mine just started walking with me tonight, and I found together we walked about 1/4 mile further than I usually walk alone, but within the same amount of time. I have to keep up with his longer stride!
Good luck with this upcoming week! Also, Hoping your ds had a good time at his prom. My son's is in 2 weeks, and we just ordered his tux. His gf has had her dress for about a month already, she's so excited.

Hi there Jamie and Beth.
Yes, DH will walk with me when we are home together. I try to get DD to walk as much as possible with me too.
I am sure the 3 pounds will melt away. It just drives me nuts that our bodies can be so fussy about our time clocks and everything. I had a grilled salad for lunch, after my apple as an eye opener. Haven't found anything worth having for dinner, since kids are at a basketball game and dh is teaching tonight. I do have some organic tomatoe soup. And some rice crackers to go with it. Ok, now I am getting hungry. :rotfl:
Til tomorrow!

I know what you mean! When I was 25 and even 30 I could certainly eat a lot more, exercise less and still maintain my weight...now I can't understand why one simple 4 oz. glass of wine can make me balloon a lb! I know its water, but geez! And how come weight comes on so fast, but leaves so slowly! Truly, weight is not fair.
Enjoy your soup! :thumbsup2

Hi Wendy, I'm a slug with the weight loss too. I've been pretty much losing the same 5 lbs. since the first of the year. Weighed myself today and I'm at 182 which is -31 from my highest. Of course, the ice cream will probably catch up with me real soon.
What pace do you walk at? I'm at a 20 min. mile, sometimes a little less. I'm always afraid if I go too fast, I'll injure my knee. I'm just full of excuses.
Hope your schedule and eating is getting back to normal. Hang in there-you're worth it!

Well, last time I logged on I was ready to spend some serious time catching up, and wouldn't you know it, the internet would not cooperate. So, here we are again, working on getting caught up!
Went to put new tires on DS's car. $300. Amazing. With gas here at 3.25, I don't think those tires are going to get much wear!
Also got DS's prom pictures. Very nice! I forget how handsome he is! Or is that just me bragging!

Did great on diet today. Salad and 3 bottles of water and then low fat stir fry at home with petite shrimp for dinner. Ok, I did have 2 med diet cokes at work. And I did nab one of DD's fries when she came to visit me at work with her dad. But I did work 9 hours without a break and we were busy! Amazing what the nice weather brings out!
Yesterday I forgot to take my meds and suppliments. It usually isn't an issue, but with allegry season getting on strong here, I felt half allert today. I slept like a baby last night. I am just waiting for DS to get back from the band trip from chicago. They should be here anytime. I can never go to sleep when I know someone is coming home later. Typical mom.
Ok, tomorrow is to be a bit yuky out, and DH still hasn't re-attached the level thing on the TM. I hope he does it so I can get in the time I need to if the weather is bad. The wind was wicked today.
Last night I recorded a program on the food network about Disney World Fairy Tale weddings. DS tells me all the time he is getting married at WDW. I just hope he's paying for it! Or at least someone besides me! Ok, I'll buy the cake. I have heard that at WDW the cake is easily 800 bucks. Well, you only get married in WDW once!
Well, off to other journals!

The funniest part is, at the end of the day, it probably wouldn't have been that much more to be at Disney, because we would have had a lot less people :lmao:

Hello everyone!
Thanks for all the wonderful words about DS and GF. They do look nice together.
Bekki, you are right. No matter where they are, weddings are expensive.
Jamie, it was the same show. I just about feel over when they told how much her total bill was. But I did love the mad hatter tea party they had. The cake was so cool.
Jamie, Yep--I told him he needed to start now, since he has plans, even tho he really doesn't have the fiancee! lol Your DD can start saving now as well, since by the time she is ready, I am sure the prices we see now will be tripled!
Thanks Julie and Jennifer. I did do well yesterday, until the 4 fries I sneaked from DD when her and DH came to see me at work. It did fulfill my cravings, for about a minute!
Goodness Tracey! $8! I was whinning about 3.25! Crazy. You have to what you have to do, and that is the jist of it. And you know, I am sure we were as lovely at our wedding anyhow! :rotfl:
Today is going to have to be a walk in between the rain, since DH still has not re-balanced the treadmill. Pooch loves it tho. I went to a different store to work last night, and boy was I bored. I have to go there again tonight. I hope there is at least a basketball game or something at the high school down the street so I can at least feel like I have earned my pay!
I skipped breakfast--which is something I do often, and I know I shouldn't, but life just gets in the way and I like to sleep until I have to be up. Since I went to bed at 3 this morning, because I didn't get home from work until 220am, I was still up before 9 am. I sure will be tired tonight there because I have to there til after 2 am again. Oh well, I have tomorrow off and can catch up with it all then. Sure, nice to think so! :)
I believe I hear DH coming in. I should catch up on the other journals so we can have a nice and quiet lunch together!

Today was a wonderful day with the sun out and shinning. I have the windows open and fans going! Pooch loved the AM walk we went on! Great girl.
Hmmm...I never thought of that Beth! But you are right! I should have thought about all those things I need to do without having to try to exercise too! :rotfl2: And I do enjoy having our quiet lunches together. With his schedule, we are always able to do something once a week. He's a college professor.
Tonight I don't work, and tomorrow I go back on working 8-6 and 11-8. Yeah!
Tracey, I work at Burger King as a manager. Have been doing it since before DS--who is 18--was born! For the last few years, I haven't worked nights. But, with my health better, I have been doing it to help train and 'repair' at different stores. Tomorrow I am still covering for a store manager that is on vacation. Then next week I have days with 2 covering for another store manager again. It keeps me busy, and I hope it is keeping me young. I sometimes say with all the traveling they have me do, I am not sure it is a compliment or a punishment! :lmao: Well, they keep me in vacations! And I did catch up on sleep this morning. Was very nice!
Becky! I have had to do the notebook to keep track of meals. Otherwise it just won't get done!
Today was a busy day again. Tonight is DS's last high school band concert. (big sigh) I am going to try to record it so that DH is able to see it. He has to teach tonight.

Hello!
Boy, the concert was wonderful! Had a friend record it onto DVD so we will have it forever!
Bekki--yep--it is sad and yet exciting. I was so glad to see that they played well. DS also played with the orchestra cuz they needed a bit of percussion. He played wonderfullY! And, thank goodness work was ok today. A bit boring actually, as fast food isn't the choice on mother's day. Saturday shopping with family was nice. Got DD her 5th grade promotion outfit. Yeah! Went to Panera's for dinner. Had salad and DH had salad too! He is so sweet! My mother's day was great!
Jennifer! Oh you bet! It helps me as well when I log on and see how everyone is doing. Keeps me on the healthy end of life!
Tracey--oh--the concert was great. I wish everyone could hear it. They played a Titanic melody with the strings, and it was very haunting. I did enjoy their marching piece, even tho they don't march! :goodvibes It was very well done. A few missed notes, but those clarnets can be noisey!
Denise! SO great to hear from you! I like stopping by! Good to know I am not the only busy woman in the world!
Julie--sent you a wave. You are so busy, I don't know how you do it. I have a DH that helps SO much, I could never get thru a day without him, but please, don't let him know. He would just gloat!
Had a nice mother's day. Even after working 10 hours. It was a bit boring. NIce for a change. Did get all the extra stuff I am to do done while there. I just behind on training paperwork and manager-trainee books. Pretty much all caught up today. Reviews are done, and off to the district manager. Yeah!
Well, I did good with diet today, it helped that DH and DD made a wonderful dinner and a desert that fits into the new life style. I did have a piece of chocolate--Giradelli dark chocolate square. Yum! I didn't get to walk today. Just didn't work out. Did think about going about 8:30 tonight, but the sky looked terrible. Still waiting on the magic fairy to fix the Treadmill. Guess she is busy! I know I sent her to fix a few scales for someone. You would think she would come back!
OH! finished the plans for DS's grad gift! WDW from AUg 12 to Aug 17 with his best bud! His family is paying for airfare and giving them each $100 to spend. DH and I paid for all but one day of the package. They are staying at POP with dining plan and park hoppers and extra. They will have a blast. DS didn't want a party for grad--gave him the option. He wanted WDW. That's my boy! I also did ressies for them since they are on the dining plan. Cape May Cafe, Boma's, O'Cellier, Morocco (my children have never shyed away from unique foods :goodvibes ) and of course, Princess Breakfast at Norway. Hey, DS wanted to do it. I think he likes to have his pic taken with all those cute girls! :rotfl: And he will show all his friends the pics! They have magical express, so I won't worry about that. They will use the bus system and have a blast. I wish I could go, but this trip is for them. The sacrifices we do!
I am off to other journals!

Hi Wendy!!
Glad to hear you had a great Mother's Day! Hope you got lots of love & hugs. Happy also that the concert went well...I imagine the last few months of senior year can be a little tough on Mom...I know they will be for me. Next year.
A graduation gift trip to WDW...awesome!! I won't tell my DS or he'll be dropping hints! :rotfl2: that your DS wants the Princess Breakfast so he can look at the pretty girls. Sounds like my son, too! One of his favorite meals on the last trip was the Cinderella breakfast, and he sure did sparkle when Snow White came round. :goodvibes
Hey, I thought you were doing awesome with your diet before, but now that I know you work at Burger King, you really do deserve a round of applause!! I'd be stuffing my face with so many Whopper Jrs with cheese. You go, girl! Keep up the great work.

Hi everyone!
Yep, been busy. Life has been good. Did do a dish of ice cream yesterday. Just vanilla and a small one. So, the guilty bug isn't as big as it could be! Today I had a banana instead!
Beth, you are so right. He wants to make his friends jealous. He plans on taking lots of pictures of the princesses with him and his bud just to show them off to their friends. I will certainly have to post a pic of that! And, your DS's pic with his gf is lovely! Did they have a great time? It will be so much more exciting next when they are seniors, not to mention more hectic for you! But so worth it! I promise not to email your ds about the trip. We got such a deal, that to throw a decent open house would be just a bit less. I really wish I was going, but ya know, he's 18 and doesn't need an adult to go anymore! Darn! And thanks for the kudos with diet. It can be very hard at a fast food joint. I haven't even a sandwich in over 16 months there. I do have salads, and grilled chicken alot. It is a bit boring, but it works! Plus, all the diet coke I want! :rotfl:
Jamie, keep the scale fairy as long as you need! Maybe she has friends we can send to everyone else! :rotfl: I am so glad he choose WDW. He is a good kid. I thought it was a great way to end public school before going to college. Oh, to be young again!
Tracey! I think my ds has a secret crush on Jasmine, and is plotting to do away with Aladdin. I think it's because of her costume. Or the long gourgeous hair. I am sending him with lots of disposible cameras expecting lots of pics. I probably won't get any! I will share tho!
Jamie! Only with a princess does this side of boys come out. How can anyone pass up CRT? In a castle no less!
I am off to catch up on all else! I have about enough time to do that, walk the dog, and go to work.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey there, Wendy! LOL, and crying just a little inside, when you wrote that ds is 18 & doesn't need an adult to go to WDW with. We're a year behind you with our ds, and I'm holding tight to every single minute. They grow up too fast. I know everyone says that, but its true.
You've gotta post pics of your ds at CRT! That'll be so great. When is his graduation day, early June? That'll be a big day for you, Mom, and him! Post a pic in the cap & gown?
:thumbsup2 to you for no sandwiches at work for 16 months. You have more willpower than I, and I just want to say that I see nothing wrong with a Diet Coke addiction...it could be worse, you could be addicted to Pop Tarts!!
Have a Great Weekend!!

A very quick post, since this week is hectic, and exciting and sad! You certainly said it Beth, I have been near tears all day. My DH wrote an amazing note to DS for graduation. It is hard to believe he is graduating! I will post pics from graduation--which is FRIDAY! Wow, tonight is Baccelaureate. (I can't spell, hard to believe I actually have an MBA!) DS is playing piano for part of the musical performance. I am so proud! When the whirl wind stops, I will log on and brag! And yes, I too am amazed that I haven't had real bread or a real sandwich in that long! I sure do miss it sometimes. We have a bagel place near our home, that I used to frequent. I drove by it today and considered falling off the wagon (or rather crashing!) but I drove on and had grilled chicken! Just wish weight would fall off. I know it is the exercise thing that is hurting me now. I will get there. Just wish it was last week! :rotfl2:
Bekki, it's a bit harder this week to stay on task, but I am doing my best! The daily walk is suffering. But, I am making it up with cleaning and stress! :rotfl:
Denise, so glad to help with the positive-ness for you! That is what this is all about!
To everyone else! Thanks for reading! I am off to get my hair done so I am the fashionable mom at the event tonight!
OH! I have to brag now abit. We went to the awards assembly, and DS won a Michigan Competitive Scholarship for some of his test scores. YEAH! Every bit helps us out!
Take care and I will catch up soon!

Yeah--graduation for DS was great! He gave his GF a promise ring at the beginning of the ceremony. The school is so small, he had 75 seniors in his class, they get to choose who the walk with down the isle. Kind of cool. So, when the part to sit down, he hugged her and gave her the gift. So sweet. I will load up some photos soon.
DD had her 5th grade promotion. She has only 66 in her grade. Since 6-12 is basically the same school, they do a big thing when leaving elementary school. She won lots of academic awards, and she was the only one in the entire 5th grade that had perfect attendance.
Glad all that is over, so I can get back on track. Had too many meals out this last 2 weeks, even tho I watched what I had, I still had too many! I was trying so hard to loose the 3 pounds I gained from working nights before I went for my one week on nights again, and well, I didn't loose it all, and here I start nights again for one more week. Good thing is that I don't work nights at all for the rest of the summer, since I float and cover senior manager vacations. Keeps the boredom out a bit. And I am able to work better hours and can have any day off I need since I am not expected to be at any store on a regular basis. Kids love that about the summer.
Looks like I need to catch up on some journals! All is great, and I have joined a few June challenges. Pledge to do 800 minutes of exercise, and to loose 8 pounds.
Off and running!
Thanks for everyone who stopped by!

Hello all!
Well, today was a downer on a walk. MIL came over and I just chatted with her, and fussed with DS's computer, and then went to Lowe's to get cement sealer for the stepping stones I made for the 'yellow and blue' garden DH made for the kids for their graduations, and then took DD and DH to dinner (did great, had chicken, fresh veggies, and diet coke) Now, catching up on journals because of the rain. I do have to go to work in an hour, working the crazy 3rd shift this week. So glad this is the last one for the summer. Yeah! Now DD is bringing me some jello she had made. It is pina coloda flavor. They also have strawberry daquaris, and marguirita. DD made mine into a parfiat with strawberries. Yummy! And not hardly any calories! Yeah! I wonder if they are trying to appeal to those who use jello for shooters? Makes you think! If there is a niche, someone will create a product for it!
Ok, have to finish up and get going. Work starts at 9pm!
Ciao everyone!

Oh my, the crazy work schedule is done. I came home 7am friday morning and went back in at 3 pm. Now, it is nearly 2 am and I can't sleep. Well, in a few hours DS gets up to go to work. And DH will get up because we are going to Mackinaw this morning. The reason for the insane work schedule. He didn't want to wait for me to get home at 7am to leave. What is 2 hours? lol It is an annual thing we do after the college has graduation. DH takes us to Mackinaw Island/City and we hang out for 3 days. DS is pretty excited that he is home alone for the first time and that he is taking his granna to South Haven for Sunday. My only concern is the drip that I am hearing from the pipe end that leads to the sprinkler system. I think I turned it off. Not sure, but it is still dripping. I guess we can turn the water off while we are gone, but DS may have a problem with that. He can go and shower at MIL since she is only a few blocks away. Oh well. I will wake DH up early so he can check into it. Maybe we just need to run the spinker system so that the water is out of it. Who knows?
Nothing exciting with much, did do a salad for lupper (lunch and supper). Did try one of our new sundae shakes, a mini one. Don't know how I could tell much, since I didn't do the cookies since they have gluten in them. At least the flavors I did have were pretty good. I could see people getting addicted to these.
Well, should look more into the water issue. Maybe I will sleep for a few minutes.
Everyone have a great weekend!

Don't fret the sundae...its dairy, and we all need a little dairy once in a while (said she who had a scoop of Neopolitan ice cream just before bed).
Hope your water issue worked out ok, and that ds has water this w/e!

Hello Everyone!
Well, luckily for DS, DH fixed the water issue before we left. Not that he did much with it! GF is in France til the end of the month, so his hygiene is back to teen age boy stuff! :rotfl:
Mackinaw was beautiful The weather was perfect, and there wasn't too many tourists around. We did call DS every day. The house didn't look any different when we came home as when we left. Few more dirty dishes, but that is all. He did clean the yard and the dog didn't seem to come to much harm! It was a big thing for us to leave him here. We never have before. I think he understood the trust we had in him. He did ok. Too bad he doesn't have any compulsive cleaning disorders, so that the laundry was done, walls washed, and carpets cleaned. Oh well, life isn't perfect!
Walked a bunch while gone over the weekend. I did have ice cream and a rice crispie treat (ok, it was dipped in chocolate), but I did follow my diet other wise. No junk food. Had a cup of cranberry trail mix. Was good. Kept the cravings away.
Back on a normal work schedule. Yippee. Started back on nightly walks since the weather is HOT! Last night was a short one, only 20 minutes. Tonight pooch and I will certainly make up for it. My legs need some stretching. And the sky is so pretty here at night.
I am off to catch up on journals!
Best to all!

Hi Wendy!! Sounds like Mackinaw was fun, and ds was safe & sound while you were away. So glad the water issue was all right...:lmao: that his hygiene habits have relaxed while gf is away.
Its so hard to be perfect on a diet while vacationing (or working, for that matter)...don't sweat the rice krispie treat. Sometimes I find that a little cheat will help to move my weight down a little...maybe we're just super vigilant after a treat? Bet the walking helped to keep the pounds down!
Glad to hear that you've got hot weather in your neck of the woods. We've had so many gray & wet days around here I'm getting ready to round up the animals two by two.

Hello everyone!
:lmao: Thanks for the laughs! I can imagine Tracey! I remember the first time I was left home without siblings, a sitter or anyone else. Very enlightening about ones self! :rotfl2:
Hey Beth, let me know how big to build the ark, and I'll come on over and we can boat off with out families! We are dying for rain. I love the beautiful weather, but a few hours a week of rain sure would be nice!
Thanks for the pats on the back Jennifer and Bekki. It really helps to know that we are succeeding. I know I can't be the only one with a few falls off the wagons! And still do a good job!
Finally, the 8 days and 80 hours of work is over! Today is a much needed day off. It just drives me nuts when people quit without notice, and in a fit of anger. How professional is that?
I have to agree, that if we do have a treat once a week, especially while on vacation, it takes away some of the crazy emotional stress that comes with having to count every bite, DD is doing absolutely wonderful on her diet. She is walking nearly 5 miles a day, and bike riding as well. The other day, even after a 2 mile bike ride, she came with me on a walk with the pooch. It was nice to see her determined to eat better and to increase her metabolism. She will be 11 in a few weeks, and hitting that dreaded mood swings and energy swings as well. I am very proud of her. For her snack the other day she made her own jello and waited for it to firm up. If we keep her on track over the summer, school should be easier. Those school lunches are so hard. Very starchy and all. She tries, but it gets really boring really fast. We live only 3 houses from school, and with her in middle school, she can come home more often for lunch, and have a healthier lunch. And get the exercise of walking.
Well, time to catch up and get going!
Have a great week!

Hey Wendy, how goes the battle? Finally the clouds have lifted, albeit temporarily, around here, and I hope you've gotten a little (emphasize: just enough to keep the grass green and the flowers growing) rain out in your neck of the woods.
I enjoyed reading how your DD is developing better eating & exercise habits! See what a great role model you are? You're teaching her, by example, to take such good care of herself. Thats awesome. I know my daughter has been making better choices just from watching dh & I choose more wisely...we went to a fast food place the other day, and she can eat the French Fries & burgers w/ no problem but instead she chose a salad. Without any prompting. Hopefully, developing a health awareness now will help our girls when they're our age!
I wonder if this means I can blame my Mom for my Pop Tart fetish...after all, that was her idea of a good breakfast! :thumbsup2

Hello everyone.
I have been MIA for a few reasons. First, I was so sick that I thought I was going to die. Head cold turned into sinus infection and bronchitis. So, I stayed pretty much bed ridden for 4 days. Then, DD spilled milk on the keyboard of computer. Needless to say, we let it dry out and after 4 days, it still doesn't work. So, new keyboard for us. Well, that one was about 7-8 years old. time for a new one.
With being sick, exercise was out of the question. For a few days, I really didn't even want to eat. So, kept the calories at a good level.
You are right Beth, our mom's are the reason we had these strange eating habits. Like your po-tarts and my -no I don't eat breakfast-habits. DD is doing really great. Today, since it is her 11th birthday, and she has a few friends over, we skipped the walk. She is playing batmittion and bunch of other out door games. Pretty good swap I think.
I shall get caught up with other journals!
Thanks for stopping by and keeping me in your thoughts. Marthon work is over , and the holiday shifts start tomorrow, where I work 3 pm to midnight for the summer celebration concerts in town. We have fireworks on the 4th and the 8th, the end of the week long celebration.
Everyone have a great 4th!

Hi Wendy :wave2:
I love when you stop into my journal so I thought I would stop into yours! It looks like we have some of the same reasons for this journey--the physical need to lose or be disabled.
Sorry to hear you have been sick, that can be so frustrating when you have goals you are trying to reach.
It sounds like you have so much to keep you busy the next few days that you will get enough exercise doing all you have volunteered to do!
You asked me about Great Wolf Lodge--it is a whole lot of fun and I highly recommend it--even just one night is enough to enjoy quite a bit! Your DD is at about the right age, much older and she probably wouldn't enjoy it. My DD is 11 and still really loves it. It is best for kids in the preteen and younger age groups. You don't really see kids older than that there. The water slides are big enough for her but not so big as to be "scary". Mine is a strong swimmer and the lifeguards are very vigilant there so we are comfortable letting her go on her own in the waterpark.
The only thing that I would recommend is that you plan for not much you can eat on a healthy diet. They really mostly have pizza and burgers and nachos in the water park area and the Restaurant Buffet is a lot of fat laden choices. There is a sit down restaurant that is pricy and I am not sure if their choices are healthy. You get a microwave and refrigerator in your room so it is pretty easy to bring some of your items to make yourself if you need to. The one here in Williamsburg actually has major problems with all of the food service locations, but I don't know if that is true of all GWL locations.

Wow, been busy! Summer Celebration is winding down. Tonight the concert is BB King. I can hear him in my living room, which what happens when the concert is across the lake from where we live. It just carries it over.
DS is there. He did call me and said BB wanted everyone to know he was in town. I told him to invite him over for pie. I really don't think he'll show. Musicians, they can be so fickled.
Feeling so much better. I am able to talk and recognize my own voice finally. Still having some congestion, but it is moving and that is good.
Ok, I didn't just fall off the wagon, I did a running jump. I guess it was because I had felt so bad, wasn't able to eat for a few days, and all those other excuses you can dreg up when you need them. I did have a turtle sundae the other day. It felt good on the old aching throat, and the taste buds did dance. So, I have pledge to increase my walk by 5 minutes to get me back on track. I think that could be part of my plateu problem. I need to increase walking time and maybe decease calorie intake. Somedays I make 1500, others I know it is closer to 1800. I was logging on Spark page, but it takes so long to get it organized so everything is in your favorites. So, since tomorrow is a quiet night, with everyone busy but me, I am going to get it together and make it work. I am ready to make my goal of 4 pounds this July and 4 more in August so that I reach my year goal in September.
So, give me a shove, and all that jazz. Tough love works, and I am ready, healthy again, and restless.
We can do it.
Thanks everyone for the support. It fills so many needs that are important and so vitial to my mental health. :) :)
Take care all and have a great weekend! If BB does stop by, I will let everyone know it he enjoyed the tea and gluten free biscuits! (Boy my snack food cupboard is bare! Yeah!)

Hello all. Just a really quick note. Getting back on the wagon, and getting it done!
Thanks for the tough love Tracey. I certainly hope you are feeling better. Have a cold/flu in the summer is the pits. I can do this. I will be beautiful and fit and healthy. Ok, my DH says I am beautiful already, and getting healthier each day. And having you guys here really helps. DD is doing great, so we will all do this!
Tea was GRAND! I was pretty sick, but DD and friends did have a nice time. The weather was nice, they enjoyed the games (like from eons ago) and it just was nice.
Just had to log on to tell everyone that DS's trip packet came today. I am so overwhelmed he is going to WDW as a young man on his own...well with his best friend since day care. I know he will have a great time. Also, his package came with all his stuff for his dorm room--like towels, bedding, etc. It really is getting close. He put in his 3 week notice at work so he has 2 weeks before his trip to get organized. Becasue as soon as he gets back from his trip, he goes off to college.Time flys when you are the parent. Hard to admit that they need to grow up. I worry, but I worry when he's home. :rotfl: Guess it doesn't matter.
Have to run. Catch up later!

 Wendy! Get back on that wagon! So you went off the healthy eating plan for a little bit...thats ok, as long as you get back on track. Between being sick and all the dson activity (its gotta be a little stressful! I know I'll be hitting the old Pop tart box when my son is headed off to college for the first time!): you've had a double whammy.
Get back on that healthy eating wagon, control those calories and get back to walking, and you'll be even more beautiful than you already are...AND you'll feel fantastic, too. Just imagine how great you're going to feel and look after even just one week of sticking to it religiously. (can you tell this is my own inner speak?). I like your goals of 4lbs per month, too! I'll meet that goal with you, how about it?

Hello everyone!
Beth--you are on. We will each meet a goal of 4 pounds this month. I have lost 1.5 (don't know if this is cheating a bit by starting out ahead!) but I am on the wagon. It is a bit creaky, but I will make it work. I will probably cry and mope for days after he's gone. I am so glad that I am not someone who eats when they are sad. I eat when I am bored. I do become very inactive when I am sad, tho. I will just have to look at the dog, and know she wants that walk just as much as I need it. We had a wonderful walk the other day, with bright sunshine and a cool breeze. I took the kids to see Harry Potter, so I missed both dinner and my walk (had to work 10 hours today). What I did eat was ok. I do get so bored with salads and applesauce! but it works. The crew at work help to remind me what I am able to eat. They are so sweet! :rotfl2: SO, the challenge is on! We will check in August 1st to see if we have done it!
Oh jamie, you are right about that. While looking thru all his WDW stuff, I cried abit, remembering the first time we took him to WDW 15 years ago. His first hug from Mickey, and his first Dumbo ride. Oh no, Now I am making me miss for those times again! Maybe my dd (11) will at least let me braid her hair so I feel like I am needed! :)
Oh Denise, so nice to hear from you! I am MUCH better, and working on getting evern better! Take care!

Wendy: you are on! 4 lbs by August 1st. I'll have to weigh in tomorrow to get that starting #, so you are a little ahead, but thats ok. These are achievable goals, and we'll both do it! You are lucky you aren't an emotional eater, because I'll bet you rarely get bored, especially when you've got 10 hr days to work!
Good luck to us both!

Hello all!
Thanks for stopping by while I was away. Went to my parents, my dad is having problems with his kidneys. He has lost enough use of them since May that they are going to do a transplant as soon as things get organized. I think one of my siblings should be a perfect candidate. I am not able to donate because of my health and such. Oh well, I will be there for everything else. He is very mellow, more so than I have ever seen. I tell him not to worry, the best will always happen. My mom isn't as worried as my dad. She agrees with me. It will all work out. He doesn't want to do dialysis. He wouldn't do very well with that anyhow.
Beth, I am on a good start! So, remember, August 1st is the WI day for us!
We can do it!
Tracey, I am very sad about DS leaving. We got his class schedule, and he is in the highest freshman calculus and chemistry. I pray for the best for him, and for his success. He is a bit of a momma's boy, but I certainly don't mind. He will always be my baby. Just a very big and grown up baby.
He is really excited about his upcoming vacation with his best bud. They leave on the 12th for 5 nights. They will have lots of fun! I just hope he remembers to take pictures! HA!
Off to finish catching up!
Still on the wagon and even drinking more water.

Wendy:
 to you & your family re: your Dad! Positive thinking is the absolute best thing you can have right now. My thoughts are with your family, and I'm sending all good karma your way.
So the 12th is the day your son goes off to WDW...thats so exciting. Focus on that! That's something nice to focus on, and it sounds like you could use a little positive diversion.
Keep up the good work on your healthy habits, and let us know if there is anything we on the boards can do!
Beth

Hi Wendy! Hope all is well with you and your family. I'm sorry to hear that your dad has been ill.
Looks like our sons will be in WDW at the same time. I'm jealous...we don't have a trip in the planning stages like we usually do.
Take care and post if you get a chance. Denise

Hey ladies!
So Dee, is your DS staying on property? Mine is. He loves being there. He is just staying at pop century, but what else does 2 young men need but a shower and a place to sleep? I doubt they will even notice that there is a pool or a gift shop! :goodvibes
Yes Beth, I have to agree, that I am focusing on the good stuff. My dad goes for a ultra sound thursday to give us a better time frame. I really wish I was going to share a few of the moments with my son while he is in Disney, but we do have to let them grow up sometime. He got his cell phone service today. We thought it would be good for him to start paying a few bills in his name for that dreaded 'you need a credit score' to get thru life.
I did buy him a few disposable cameras to take with him on his trip. He will not use the photo pass stuff. I just hope he remembers he has those cameras. I am sure he will use at least one of them for his breakfast in Norway with the princesses. :goodvibes He was pretty intent that I make those reservations for him and his buddy. Always my sweet young boy!
Well, off to catch up with other journals.
Ciao all!

Hey Wendy! I'll be thinking of your dad tomorrow. Hopefully the ultrasound will give you some good news, and at least you'll know a little bit more. I think the most frustrating thing about supporting someone who is dealing with their health is the endless piece by piece info gathering. We all want to know everything right at the beginning, and yet it always seems as though its such a process...this test gives us a little info, and leads us to another test, and so on and so on. And, the poor folks who find themselves in the support role (like you) can only wait, research, and be supportive. It ain't easy!! so know I'm thinking of you, too.
Sooooo....4 lbs down???
I'm only 3, but I'm not hung up on some ideal of perfection (there are just too many uneaten Pop Tarts in this world!). I'll take my 3 and hope you beat me by at least 1!!

Hi Wendy, MY DS will be at POP on the 12 and 13th. They left yesterday for their honeymoon. 4 nights at he Poly, then the Wonder cruise and back to Pop Century. It truly is a small world with our boys at WDW at the same time.

Hello all. Thanks so much for the support. The ultra sound for my dad showed one kidney not working at all. So, he goes back to the Urologist next week to get on a game plan. We will just wait to see what is next.
Well, DS is leaving in a few days to WDW. So exciting for both of us, yet I am scared too. I know that they will have a great time. I wish I could be there, but I think the weather is just too hot for me!
Getting thru his things for college, as what to take, what not to take, and what we need to get. Had to get a calculator today . $150! Crazy. That is the one that the college said he is to have. I bought the protection thing with it so that if it does crash, he can get it replaced. Well worth the cost.
DD was on a short trip with her best bud. They go somewhere each summer for a convention for work, and take DD to hang out with their DD. She was worried at first, but then had such a great time, that she forgot how worried she was! I think she is a little nervous about her brother going off to school. She is excited to see where he will be, and what he will be doing. They are pretty close for being nearly 8 years apart.
I have so much to catch up on. Guess I had better get to it!
