Does anyone have a suggestion for a hardy flowering vine to plant at the base of a mailbox (I already have a flowerbed there) that gets full sun all day long? TIA!

Trumpet vines are hard to kill. and I saw it growwing on the arbors at the Biltmore House, so it can travel in snazzy circles.

It comes up wild here and is tough stuff.

The tame honeysuckle is pretty on mailboxes.

Clematis, except that it likes to have its roots shaded.

You could use an annual. Scarlett Runner Beans are very pretty or some tame Morning Glories or some ornamental sweet potato vine.

I like Cypress vine, although some people really hate it. It is very pretty.

I agree with rockyroad on this one. Trumpet vines can be evil!

I've seen pink jasmine used too.

Clematis? I have it growing around my mailbox. It's totally neglected and blooms profusely.

Beautiful picture! I have a white/lavendar clematis on a trellis and I love it. We just planted it this spring so it's still got some growing to do. Another one would look good at the mailbox. Thanks!

Another vote for clematis. I have one and it is just beautiful, without too much fuss from me.

I agree that Trumpet Vine is an evil plant. I thought it would look nice in my fenceline. What a mistake that was. I got one flower, not enough light, but we are still trying to dig it up. It travels everywhere, and keeps growing and growing! :crazy:

I think you ought to ask your mail delivery person if they're allergic to bees before you put anything that flowers around your mailbox...just to be on the safe side.

Good idea. I planted catmint by the mailbox and it does attract bees. Fortunately we've never had a problem. It's difficult to remove too. Looks good and does well without attention.
Trumpet vine looked good on the gazebo for a short time then it was just a rambling mess. Also a challenge to get rid of.
Beach grass is another one in my mailbox plantings. Looks good, easy, doesn't attract bees. Doesn't flower though.
I love Montauk Daisies:daisy:but haven't had any luck growing them by the mailbox.
