...and it is making me a bit nervous....and angry....and sad....and nervous....and angry....and sad...get the point?

  :(  :(  :(  :(

I was on the Theme Parks Board (http://www.disboards.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&forumid=2&x=12&y=10), and I started to feel myself break into a sweat, so I hurried back here to my safe haven. :)

All I can say, is thank goodness you will all be there with me. I doubt I'll notice all of these shortened park hours, closed restaurants, and cancelled events when I'm surrounded by all of my DIS friends. :) :) :)

Who needs WDW...We have eachother. :) :) :)

I know what you mean, Tia! I'm glad we already have OUR events planned. Disney had better not cancel them cuz we're paying through the nose for that fruit punch! ;)

That's right Nancy! And even if they do cancel our events, they had better be serving us fruit punch out on the sidewalks! :D

Actually, Tia, I'm feeling the same way as you-a mix of angry, sad, frustrated, confused, etc. I can't imagine how this will affect our convention! Poor Linda, this will really keep her hopping now. And, yes, I'm glad we're all together. We can be a powerful force and Disney will have this force to deal with, won't they?!?!? Hey, if they screw up our events, they'd better be serving more than just punch on the sidewalks! ;)

Hey, I wonder if the new park hours will mess up our EPCOT dinner event, Illuminations, Fantasmic, etc.

Poor Linda and Marsha and Pete and gang. :( :( :( Like they haven't already worked their tails off for this!

Picture this

300 lime green wearing people with cans of corn in one hand and emu legs in the other

Will we be a force to be reckoned with or what? :D

I hate to be practical this morning. but everyone knows it is all about profits and loss. It is a business..and if times are slow, things get cut..Just like in the real world, people are getting laid off, it is happening at WDW.. I know it is sad reality, but there it is. Now hopefully, none of our things will be cut.. When Linda gets home, we will work on it..

Oh, I know, Marsha. That's also why they've delayed opening the Pop Century Resort. They just can't afford to do it right now. Unfortunately, I think this is only the beginning. My DH has been saying that he thinks we're not even seeing the full impact. Disney is still seeing people who'd planned their trips for a while, like Bill & I did, and chose not to cancel. He feels that people won't be planning any new trips any time soon and then we'll see the impact. Now that's very scary. We talked to a girl at the AK one afternoon, to see what input she had on the crowd sitiuation. She said that it's a typical October crowd, but that they had expected a lot more because of the birthday celebration. We saw a lot of fast pass machines covered up and not being used, too! That surprised us. We figured it was a case of not enough man power to put someone there to watch and help.

I don't think the Epcot dinner/Iluminations viewing will be affected. Epcot needs to have Illuminations at 9:30 because of the Candlelight Processional shows. They'd have to change all the showtimes (already cancelled the 5:00 show on Mondays-Wednesdays), and that would be a big headache for them. I don't know about Fantasmic, though.

Well when Linda gets home.. you can bet we will be discussing this and watching it as well..:)

Guys, whatever Disney does with their times and shows we really don't have any choice about. We will be having so much fun, that we won't even notice. So, if something changes, we roll with the punches and enjoy eachothers company....I am sure Marsha and Linda, will make sure all our events will be fine!

Oh, I definitely agree glo. :)

There's no choice. I was just expressing my feelings about all of these changes. :(

I told my DH last night that I'm glad we're not doing our family vacation right now because I think I would have disappointing feelings, but since I'm going solo and I'll be surrounded by DIS friends, I know I won't/can't have a bad time. :D

He said; "do you want to take your new Disney monopoly game just in case everything closes early and you guys have to spend a lot of time in your rooms." ;) Isn't he funny??? ;)

Tia, Your husband is so funny. ;)

Poor Linda. She's going to come back from a (hopefully) relaxing trip to a lot of changes. I think I'll send some PD her way. :smooth:

Board game night! WooHoo!!! I have Disney Trivial Pursuit and the Disney Trivia Game. With Tia's Disney Monopoly, we'll be all set! ;)
I agree, too, Glo. I think we'll just be having so much fun enjoying everyone's company, even sitting around the pool will be a grand time! Maybe we'll have to just schedule parties in everyone's rooms. One night at Tia's, one night at Steve's, one night at Glo's, and ONE NIGHT AT MARSHA'S! (notice how I slipped that in so we can find out where she's staying???) :p :p :p

Hey Barb... You are bad...hehehehehehe...I'm not sure you'll ever get it out of her...Especially now that she will be on the look out....

Now you guys can sit around the pool, but I am sitting no where...I do not intend to sleep!!!!

Game night?? Hmmmmmm...does it have to be a Disney game???
;)

If we play trivia, Tia is on my team.

10-21-2001, 01:36 PM
:o Tammy, you must have forgotton how terrible BAD I was at that game! LOL :D

I should be saying......If we're playing Trivia, I want Tammy and Judy (from Boise) on my team! :D No wait a minute, wasn't it Derinda and Brandelle who were soooooo good!? Or was it Lisa's DD, Nicole? :)

Okay, no Trivia games. :)

If you guys want to practice- I'm thinking Tuesday night chat would be a perfect opportunity;) :smooth:

Now I have to worry about getting into chat. Trying to catch up with the convention itinerary is bad enough now I need to learn chat. Arrghh. I am so totally out looking for my mind that I wonder if I will find it in time. :D

Tammy, I'm sorry, but unfortunately you got into the game a little later than the rest of us...we didn't call ourselves COMMANDOS for nothing you know! ;) We all went through this head-spinning, information overload period just like you....the only difference is that we did it sooner than you and we did it together, so it was a little more fun! :D Okay, a lot more fun! :D

Don't panic, you'll get it. :)

10-21-2001, 04:43 PM
Actually it hasn't been that bad. Everything seems to working out just fine and I can't wait. Yes it was Lisa's daughter that was so good at trivia and Judy.

Hey, if I can get this together in 3 days, why did you guys start so early? LOL

I never was good at planning things in advance. Always waited until the late minute. (kinda of like Disney has been lately) Hmmmm maybe that is why I like disney so much.

BelleMom
10-21-2001, 05:44 PM
Tammy: we started early so we could plan, change the plans, plan again, second guess, replan, plan some more...

Guys, I also feel saddened by what is happening :( and I also feel that it won't be really bad bc you all will be there. Also, I get such a long stay this time that I think I will be able to enjoy a lot. If it all fails in the second part of my trip, I will just stroll around practicing my English with the CMs. At least I will be improving my conversation skills! BTW, you all will be helping me with that, I hope... Improving my conversation skills! :D :D :D

NancyIL
10-21-2001, 06:00 PM
Livia - your English WRITING skills are terrific!

BelleMom
10-21-2001, 06:11 PM
Nancy, I got much writing practice out of those boards :D :D :D

But speaking is another matter. I can understand pretty much what you say. But I can't respond as fast as would do in Portuguese. It won't be much of a problem. By the end of the week, I will have improved a lot.

See, now I have a good thing to say to my friends: I am going to the US to improve my conversation skills. It sounds sooooooooo educational!

I could use that excuse too, Livia. Some people around here don't understand why I go to WDW every year or so........ Now, I know what to tell them!!!;)

Scottwdw
10-22-2001, 07:00 AM
Changes? What changes? :D

I don't think the changes at WDW will affect our group at all. We are paying for them and I doubt WDW wants to turn down a convention that's actually coming. A lot of them have cancelled (another reason WDW is dropping events and shortening hours).

Now, if you have any PS arrangements set up (especially a breakfast), you should call WDW and verify that they are all set.

See you in 36 days!!

glo

I think that the only changes that affect us are the things done outside of the convention. For the commando types ;) EE is a big thing. I understand that, as I used to be like that. I am figuring though that the crowds must be very small, if Disney is cutting hours. If the crowds were large and spending believe me Disney would not be cutting edges here...They are hurting like everyone else. I am going to have a great time at dis con, because I will be there with friends, everything else, is secondary!

10-22-2001, 12:41 PM
From what I can see, the mini-meets that will be affected will be the Fantasyland Meet (start at later time?), and the Thrill Rides Tour (possibly just a re-shuffling of parks?). I'm not quite sure what else will happen, but I'm sure that we can roll with the changes.

10-22-2001, 01:13 PM
Oh wow, I'm afraid to look at the link :( . It isn't surprising that Disney would have to cut back during these times, but the sun will come out again :). And, we will have plenty of friends, new and old, to party with during DIS-Con. Just being at WDW is exciting to me, if the parks stay open late it's just a perk.

Barb
10-22-2001, 03:37 PM
That's right. I'm sure we'll have no problem adjusting to the changes. For that matter, I'm sure we'll have no problem making our own fun! :D

tammyh-oregon
10-22-2001, 03:47 PM
We're suppose to have fun. Nobody told me that. But I've already paid for everything, I guess I'll have to force myself to have fun. What a drag. :D :D

10-22-2001, 04:31 PM
:::adding 'have fun' to my itinerary::: Shheeeesh! First I had to add 'sleep', now this! What next?

:D :D :D

Note to Tia:Add showering to list :D LOL!

We can always add in more DATW sessions and karaoke! Or extra shopping time, hmmm, shopping would help Disney! Yeah that's the ticket! Think my DH would buy that?

{Note to self:Bring extra suitcase for Disney snowglobes}

I think things will get better with Disney. It must be hard for them to make ends meet with the reduction in ressies and deposits and conventions cancelling...Not to mention the whole anthrax thingie. I am glad that so many people are still going and NOT cancelling. Next let's hope that more people start making plans. I am planning our January trip soon and hope that I can get some good prices. I do not plan on staying away!
