Just got an email today from Starwood saying that I could have complimentary Gold Membership which would last until end of Feb 2007! :cheer2: :woohoo:  Just clicked on the link in the email and it is done, simple as that.

My Gold membership was initially gained by an offer on Airmiles website (UK) about 3 years ago, and I managed to also get an extension on that to cover our Xmas trip last year. Now it's extended again, it will cover us for our planned Feb 2007 trip - woohoo Starwood are great! :thumbsup2

Anyone else had an email like this?

Starwood gives out LOTS of freebies on Gold. I have been Gold for years and never made the required stays. I suggest going to www.flyertalk.com and reading the starwood forum. Folks post ways to get Gold over there quite often.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't notice any difference on my gold stay vs non gold stay??? What was I suppose to see???

I got the same offer and jumped right on it. I've been as high as Platinum with them and it is one of the best frequent stay programs around!!!

Try this ...

https://www.lg0.net/starwood/promos/q1.cfm

It is the link that I got and am not sure if it will work for anyone or not but it is worth a try.

You will have to enter your Starwood Preferred Guest member number.

Can you direct me to the Starwood information on Flyertalk? I have found the website but cannot find the Starwood info.

I enjoyed the Gold Status this week at the Swan. I was upgraded to rooms with an Epcot view and balcony and recieved a newspaper each morning. Those were the only differences that I noticed, although when I called guest services they were extremely helpful each time!

once upon a time, back in the day... you used to be comped CL privleges for being Gold. That changed a few years ago, and now the lounge is gone, so it doesn't really matter, LOL.

My absolute favorite SPG perk is the 4:00pm checkout, if it's available. I'm happy with 2:00, too. But I really like the later one :)

Other than that, I can't remember any perks I've gotten for having Gold status.

We had a 6 p.m. check out on Christmas Eve one year...we just COULD NOT bring ourselves to check out and drive to see family...but we did. The Dolphin was SO ACCOMODATING about it, even brought up a few Elves goodies for the kids!( candy canes, secret key for Santa)
