Just wanted to say that we are registered for the event. Looking forward to seeing a bunch of our pin pals there and having some fun! I like the artwork for the pins this year a lot! I guess that is bad for my budget, but with Walt on a lot of pins and Main Characters plus a few lesser used characters I do like the variety of choices. Also the fact that they are celebrating Walt Disney as an innovator and visionary.
So......who else has registered for the event????

Michaela and I did register last week ... so we are ready for this special celebration ! ;-)
Still looking for good flights, but the hurricanes did their magic and prices are already dropping for september ... :-)
Luckily there are not too many pins for our collection we need, but i will try to get the figment set and the super jumbo .. i like the idea with the small edition sizes for some of the pins ...
And Vince and Suzi : Thank you very much .. we feel very honored and this is a big fat "YES WE ARE READY FOR SATURDAY NIGHT !!! ""
See you all very soon !!!

Hey Kathie...I am going, and it will be my first September pin event too. Second pin event ever (made it too the Spectacle of Pins last November).
So much easier to get to these things when your parents live in Orlando.

I'm going!! Yeah!! DH said he'd come with me, so he can play golf.
So my question is this - do I register him so I can get another chance at the RSP? He can be there some of the time...like at registration if necessary. But he really wants to go play golf. Will he not be able to get any of the other freebies unless he's there at specific times?
He's pretty accomodating to my fetishes, but I'm not sure he'll give up great golf to get me more pins :confused3 :confused3 :confused3
Thanks in advance!

By all means register him if you want more pins. Yes, you will get a second RSP form to fill in, yes he will get all the free stuff and food coupons, etc. He will have to be there for registration, but that's it. At registration they give coupons out for the other stuff and one person can hand in multiples for their whole group.

daber-
Thank you for the info! I've registered him now too...all I have to do is figure out this RSP thing and I'm set. Until I find out I've overlooked another crucial detail that I didn't know because I'm not experienced enough....oh well - I'll learn slowly. Only took me 6 years to realize I don't have to pay rack prices for trader pins....

There is a FAQ on the RSP thing on Dizpins. Plus you can ask for help here. The way I do it is mark which pins I want then rank them from lowest LE size to highest and put the lowest LE size as my #1 want, etc.
The way the computer does it, if I understand it correctly is puts in everyone's #1 want and if there are enough of them everyone gets one. If there are more wants than pins then it randomly (hence the R in RSP) picks who gets it and who doesn't. Then it goes to everyone's #2 want and does the same thing. So the lower the LE size, the lower your chances are of getting it the further down your list you put it. Hope this helps.
At least they don't have an LE 25 Figment framed set this year! (it's LE 300)

Oh good! I did understand it correctly! Took me a week or two, but I had come to that conclusion! Now I just have to look through the whole booklet again with my "second chance" on my hubby's registration.....
Thanks, Daber!

this will be our first pin celebration if we go, but I am stummped on the rsp.
I know the ranking thing, but when will you know what they are allowing you to get. i read the rules and it said something about purchases made after 6 pm on the 8th do not qualify for the promo pin purchase. What if our flight does not arrive until the evening? help me please.

You are usually notified of RSP results a few weeks prior to the event. If you received too many of a particular item, you may "return" items prior to Speical Events charging your credit card, or you can wait and make returns at the event itself. There is almost always an event "store" where you may purchase additional available merchandise and that is what they are referencing when talking about the special promotion gift with purchase pins.
I hope that this information helps!!

They always hold these events the weekend after school begins, so that lets us out! Is there anyone going who has not sent in their RSP yet that would be willing to order the Figment set? Those of you who know me, know that my DH loves Figment and I would love to surprise him! Just send along a PM if you might be able to help out. Thanks so much. Caroline :teacher:
You know, seeing some of the names attending makes me feel like "old times" here on the Collector's board. Welcome to all you newer pin traders/collector's. :sunny:

Does anyone recall what the RSP merchandise pickup hours were? I can't fly in until Thursday and was wondering what the pickup ended...
Thanks!

It hasn't been posted yet. Best guess is that it will like last years - which was noon- 7 pm on the day before the event started I believe.

We will be in WDW Sept 24th through Oct 5th.... I haven't looked up the dates yet, but knowing when they were in the past, I bet we are there after the event! Darn! We are planning our trip based on my kids' track out schedule.
Kathi
DF and Myself were looking through the Pins to submit our RSP. Question for those who have done this process previously-it is likely that you get most of the ones you select or do you really need to focus on the edition size? So many pins--there goes the bank account!
Figment2
06-17-2006, 06:36 PM
I focus on two things - edition size and how much I really want the item. If the item has a low edition size, I'll list it towards the top. I may change the order a bit for my 2nd & 3rd RSPs.
