Disneyland GAC card?

Has anyone asked for and received a GAC at DisneyLAND? We are visiting relatives in the area and we're considering a day trip but I recall reading that DL doesn't distribute them in the same manner as DW. If I bring my son's DW GAC card do you think that would help? I hate to pay park admission for the family only to get to guest services and be denied the card, since it would be necessary for the expected crowd levels- any info is appreciated....

They operate on the same basic rules. However, since so many DL guests are local and repeat they are wary of people "playing the system". I think having the WDW GAC to show would be a plus. Just be sure that you tell the CM in Guest Services something to the effect of "due to medical conditions it is necessary to have x, y, and z to allow for equal enjyment of the park". If the CM at the desk does not want to provide it, ask for a supervisor and then a manager. Notet that the lower level supervisors will be in the same costume as the behind the desk people, while managers will be wearing different clothes.

I would also think that bringing the WDW would be a plus; DL and WDW previously had different systems, but about 2 years ago, DL changed to the same basic system as WDW has been using.
Basically tell the CMs the same things that you would say (or did say) at WDW when you first got a GAC.... "My child has _________ difficulty when we go WDW. They provided us with a card that allows us to do _________ as accomidation for his needs."

When we went to Disneyland last summer, I showed them my GAC from DW the previous summer and they issued me one with the same accomodations with no questions asked. I had no problems at any of the attractions with my two ASD children.

But, to answer quickly, if someone has a wheelchair, the Cast Members (CMs) can see that you need certain things - like an entrace without steps. For people with more invisible needs, it's hard to know what the needs are. The GAC (Guest Assistance Card) is a tool to let the Cast members at the attractions know what sorts of assistance people with invisible disabilities need.
