I thought page kits would work better than actual layouts since we seem use a variety of sizes of scrapbooks. Please don't make your kits specific to any one Disney ship so that we can accomodate either Magic or Wonder cruisers.
Please pick a topic from those suggested below (or choose one of your own) and make a complete 2-page kit containing the following items:
--2 6x6 pieces of Bazzill cardstock ** see note below**
--2 6x6 pieces of patterned paper to match your theme
--1 embellished title with a title that matches your theme ( no wider than 6")
--1 embellished photo mat (no smaller than 3x3" up to whatever size you wish to make that would fit onto a page if somebody is using it for a 6x6" album)
--1 embellished journal item (tag, library pocket, matchbook)
--1 yd fiber or ribbon (no plain yarn)
--1 embellishment packet of 8 plain brads or 4 shaped brads
--1 surprise item (handmade or store-bought ----no flat stickers, please)
Please create quality kits that are more than the "bare minimum" of what is listed. We should be able to use these kits to make complete pages.
Note:All cardstock used should be Bazzill in your choice of colors. Patterend paper and embellishment should match your theme. Please send a little note with each page kit listing what colors of Bazzil you used so that the recipients can get more if they want to add to what you provided)

It's best NOT to specify a port of call (other than Castaway Cay, if you want to) since the different ships go to different places.

I have a pretty stupid question....what is bazzill?
I must not be as creative as I thought because it looks like all the things on the ship or cc have been taken. If you have any suggestions on what I could scrap I would love to hear them. If people can do doubles I would love to take Castaway Cay.
Kristin

06-01-2006, 08:30 AM
Hi Kris,
Bazzill is a wonderful line of cardstock that comes in specifically named colors. If your local scrapbook store doesn't carry it, it is available online at www.scrappingdeals.com or various other scrapbook online stores. It generally is not sold in national chain stores. What makes it great to use in swaps is that swappers can then match what they receive if they want to add additional items on their pages. That is why I have asked that each swapper include a note with their items stating what Bazzill colors they used.
As for topics, Group 2 is a "choose your own" topic. Castaway Cay is already taken but here are some suggestions from a previous post:
Nightlife
Our CM's
The Ship
Artwork at Sea
Please feel free to choose any other topic that hasn't already been listed for Group 1 or Group 2. Many of the same folks are in both groups so we shouldn't duplicate topics from Group 1.
Happy Scrappin'

Well, i am cropping tonight at the local lss, need to work on this swap there.. I like to do swaps at the lss, since there is usally lack of room, and i work on my own books at home in my scrapbook room, since i can spread out and make a mess.
But, at home i can get to distracted with swaps, lol.. so if i am "stuck" at the lss for 6 hrs and ONLY bring my swap stuff, i HAVE to do it!!! LOL
Now, onto my "golden mickey spot" i seem to be having a heck of a time with this, since i have never seen it or been on the cruise.

Speaking of going "out" to work on swaps......
How much "extra" work is it to get everything together to have the right stuff to get things done outside your scraproom? I am going to the Disney crop at the Yacht Club later this month and am wondering how NOT to take my entire scrap room contents just so that I didn't "Forget" something I needed?

I just got back from Valley Forge and I'm heading to the YC in a few weeks, so I've become the expert packer! It's really not too much work. I try to preplan pages with exactly everything I need to complete the page so I don't end up bringing 9000 sheets of paper and embellishments. As far as tools go, I pretty much just bring my basic trimmer, CM cutting system and crop a dile. And adhesive---lots and lots and lots of adhesive. No matter how much I bring, I always run out.
I wouldn't worry so much about forgetting stuff. If it's a tool, chances are someone has it that you can borrow. If it's some sort of embellishment, you can always leave a blank spot and fill it in when you get home.
havencruiser

Hi Diana,
I will be at YC, too! If you have your DCL pages done for this swap, I will be happy to bring them home with me so you won't have to bother mailing them. I have a bunch of Disney swaps to work on at YC. I figured if I brought all the Disney stuff with me, that would eliminate having to decide which of all the non-Disney stuff I would need to work on regular scrapbook pages.
See you at YC!

Sharon, What i did.. is, I did a "trial run" of what i wanted to do for my spot, did all the elements (1 of each), then, gather all my materials to recreate those elements, pre cut my cardstock and paper (if i have time), then just pack whatever else i need to complete them like the demo one i did. So, when i have all my stuff, i just put it in a gallon bag.. So, when i pull out the gallon bag at the crop, all my stuff to complete those elements is right there in the bag.. No extras. Plus the demo one i already did. Then i just copy it - x's 10 or whatever.
That is the total key - PREPLANNING! But, i usally don't like to work on my own full size books at crops, due to the fact i am usally lacking space, and i like to socialize and stuff.. I find i am not as "creative" at a packed crop. Too much going on. But, if i preplan layouts or whatever, and put my sketch in the bag with all my elements, i can at least get my stuff done without much thinking involved.
Also, b/c my brain shuts off at 9pm. That is my rule. LOL All my friends know it!! Don't ask me for scrappin advice after 9pm!!!
But, at 5 or 6 am, i can knock your socks off!! LOL

Last year the cruise started before Christmas (12/24). This year it starts on 12/26 but we are going to WDW on 12/21 to spend a few days there before the cruise. It was beautiful onboard with all the holiday decorations.
I am going to OKW and YC next week for the scrapbooking event.
This DCL swap is the last one I am completing before FLA. I plan to do it over the week-end and then spend the rest of next week packing all the stuff for the scrapbooking event and head off to OKW on Thursday and move to the Yacht Club on Friday. Wooooohoooooo! :Pinkbounc

Hi Havencruiser............
I'm working on this swap now, and just want to clarify one of the elements.
For the "journal item" you specified as one of the elements........In addition to the ones you had in parentheses "(tag, library pocket, matchbook)", can we also do other things like a file folder, journal box, etc? And also, if we do a tag, do you want room left for journaling, or a fully embellished tag?
Having fun on this one!
Thanks again! :)

Any "journal item" you want to do is fine with me. As for embellishing or leaving the other ones, I'd say use your best judgement. There's no right or wrong way, in my opinion. What I would suggest is that you do a mix.
