Had a great time. Weather was a little cold, and a little wet, but who am I to let that stop me from having a great time. Here are some pics if interisted.

Well, back to making the magic for another year......

Mike - glad you had a great time! By the way - you are very brave ... no way anyone would get me on those coasters!! I would be sitting at the bar all day (not that I would mind;) ).

My body is in shock right now - I just got back from WDW last night and it's cool and overcast here - it looks like that one picture of yours.

Thanks Sue!

After your many invites to Niagra Falls I just had to take the above photo for you just to prove to you that Cedar Point has falls also!

I wasn't sure if I would get my Season pass to Cedar Point this year as it was a disney trip year for us... But well your pictures reminded me of where I like to stay many summer days :)

Glad you had a great time. I just got back from a nice 95 degree 13 day trip to disney and now I am bundled up in a sweater and kakis at work.... Man is 60 degrees COLD now... Gotta love michigan! I hear its going up to 70 in a few days... YAY!!! now mix that with a 37 degree overnight temp... BOO!!!

Thanx for the great pictures. We usually go to Cedar Point once a year (using our Dorney Park season passes). Take a pass this year to go to WDW 3 times. That new coaster may be the lure to bring us back. My DS talked me into going on Wicked Twister last year. What was I thinking
It really didn't seem that bad from the ground.

Great news for those of you who buy a Cedar Fair season pass. I usually skip on this great deal, even though it is good at all of their parks, as it just does not work for me. But yesterday it was announced that Cedar Fair is going to purchase all of the Paramount Parks (Including Kings Isalnd and Kings Dominion).

This may be the incentive for me to get the annual pass next year! For a tad over $100 you get Cedar Point, Kings Island, Kings Dominion, Knott's Berry Farm, and numerous other great parks!

Woo Hoo!

Great pictures! I grew up near Sandusky and used to go to Cedar Point all the time. I haven't been there in more than ten years and it sure has changed a lot in that time! Wow! I can hardly recognize a lot of it now! I'm actually going "home" to visit my best friend next week but unfortunately, we're not going to Cedar Point since I only have three days in Ohio. But it sure was nice seeing the photos. Thanks for sharing!

Mike - great photos and I loved your captions. Wow - so many new rides since I was there last (1992). That Dragster ride looks intense! Thanks for sharing your photos. It sure made we want to head back to my childhood haunt. Barrie

I love the pictures- we used to go to Cedar Point every year when I was a kid! The last time I went was about 8 years ago. We took a day trip and spent most of our time in line. Does anyone know a good time to go to beat the crowds? Thanks!

There are a few boards concerning Cedar Point, much like this board discusses Disney. Do a search for Point Buzz and On the Point.

I'll give you some basic tips.....

Go when school is in session in Ohio, usually the first three weeks the Point is open, or the last three weeks they are open, especially during the week. It may be cold, but they still run the rides. Avoid weekends, weekdays in May are the best! If it rains most rides still operate, bring a poncho!

Like Disney, if you stay on property you get in a little earlier than the rest of the guests.

Do your homework and you will be able to walk on every ride!

PS avoid Physics Day! It can be a nightmare!

Mike,
We were there last week -- for Coaster Mania. DS (age 10) dragged me on virtually everything, but we decided to skip TTD. We did hit Millenium Force 5 times, much to DS's delight. (It was down when we headed to Ohio and only started 1 1/2 days into our visit. I thought it was going to drive DS crazy having to look at that thing but not ride it.) By the time we left, I felt like a bobble-headed doll, but I think DS the coaster kid will have lots of stories to tell for a lonnnggg time to come.

Glad you had a great time, was it crowded? Did you take advantage of the 25 cent cotton candy?

Being in Cleveland, we go every year. That Dragster has to be the most exciting ride made yet! I will not go on it!! I cant believe people are getting off it alive!! LOL

This year we got season passes to Geauga Lake. The park bought Sea Worlds property and is much bigger now. My kids love the waterslides and wave pool. They also have .25 cotton candy! We like the midway games!
I was pitching dimes and won a HUGE Nemo! It only cost me 1.20. The guy next to me was mad, he spent 30.00 and didnt win anything...hehehehee

When the weather is good....CLEVELAND ROCKS!

In 2006, Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom is proud to announce a special Cedar Point/Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom Season Pass. This 2-Park Pass is now available for those guests wishing to gain full-season access to Cedar Point amusement park/resort in Sandusky, Ohio! For kids, Geauga Lake now offers a new, low price on Junior Season Passes that's $10 less than 2005. And Geauga Lake didn't forget about seniors either! Geauga Lake will now offer Senior Season Passes!

In addition to full-season access to 10 roller coasters, tons of attractions, live entertainment, Snoopy and the PEANUTS gang and Wildwater Kingdom, all Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom Season Passholders may use their pass for admission to the following Cedar Fair, L.P. parks: Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom in Aurora, Ohio; Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Mo.; Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif.; Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon, Mich.; Dorney Park in Allentown, Pa.: and Valleyfair in Shakopee, Minn. Access to Cedar Point amusement park/resort is available through the Cedar Point/Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom Season Pass.

:cloud9: Cotton candy, yummm. Even got some free at Coaster Mania.

The crowds really weren't as bad as I expected. On Saturday it was bad, but other than that, not really. We got there Thursday evening and just walked right on everything -- Raptor, Mantis, Iron Dragon, and my least favorite, Corkscrew, ouch! We did the Coaster Mania stuff Friday, so we missed the crowds with that. Stood in some major lines on Saturday, but, hey, it was Saturday. Sunday it was a little cloudy, and everyone stayed home. We walked on everything again. Only a fifteen minute wait for Force. Go figure. But, I think it was before school let out up there. I am thinking, based on the size of the ques, that lines get pretty brutal and that we were very lucky. (Used all my Disney planning skills to try to figure the absolute best times to go, but it's hard to figure a park you've never been to before.)

Go when school in is session, especially in early september. My buddy and I would skip a day of school every year (both in the fall and spring) and be able to ride everything with nothing more than a 15 min wait. During the summer waits can get over 3 hours and there are not fast passes!

Wow. You'd think being an hour away from Cedar Point, I would have gone - but NOPE! I think I was less scared of the hurricane that passed right over me when I was in the Contemporary a year or so ago than I would be on those roller coasters. OY! The coasters in Disneyland Paris were scary enough for me.

Thanks for sharing the pix! How neat.

(P.S. I've been tryin' to write you but my clearance on this board isn't high enough I guess...as I keep getting rejected. Sniffle.)

(P.P.S. Be glad you're in Orlando. We had our FOURTH major flood in about a month last night. At our house it poured over 3 inches of rain in 20 minutes. I'm going to set up a Pirates ride in our basement. Now all I need is some animatronics. Perhaps Johhny would come over and model?)

I keep hearing about the bad weather up there. I've even heard that the trash cans at Cedar Point were floating down the midway! WOW.

Sounds like hurricane season down here!

I rode the new and improved pirates the other day, three Johnny Depps! I think we can spare one, so I will arrange to ship one to you for your new basement attraction!

my DD and I are headed to Cedar Point for a couple of days starting Aug 28. We're hoping for good weather and walk on conditions.

We'll be staying at Castaway Bay, the now Cedar Point owned former Radisson with the indoor water park. I'll try to write an actual trip report and post it if anyone is interested.

We just got back…….let me say never again. The lines were well over 2 hours. We stayed at the Hotel Breakers in the “remodeled” section for about 250 a night. Let me say that this hotel should be about $60 a night. The rooms were beat, smelled like mold, the locks didn’t work properly. There is no nightlife after 11 pm. The food (even though they have a Friday’s in the hotel) was horrible. It was like high school cafeteria food. It was really a sad place. I am sure it would have been much nicer to stay off site somewhere. I thought for $250 a night it would at least be as nice as a holiday inn express….so so so wrong. And the pools absolutely filthy!

Despite all this the 4 of us girls had an excellent time! Only because we have fun together no matter where we go.
This place is definitely no Disney but at least the park was clean…the rides do not look like they have been cleaned ever…but the walkways and such were nice.

And once again someone goes to Cedar Point without asking my advice!

LOL

1. NEVER EVER GO IN AUGUST!

2. Never stay in a hotel that is over 100 years old. Next time stay at Lighthouse Point. Bring your own steaks and booze and party on your deck.

And ya, nightlife in Sandusky is lacking, but there are a few places. But mostly we just stay on our deck, and on one night we save up and eat at the Bay Harbor, their more upscale restaurant.

Next time contact me, I have a ton of tips on how to enjoy that place!

Now you tell me!! Oh well! And you are correct never again in a hotel that is over a hundred years old, I am much more of a W kinda girl. Hanging out on a deck cooking would be fun but not in the summer for me, I work everyday in the summer, the last thing I want to do is cook!

And I would recommend august….the lines may be long but the scenery……well worth it! :rolleyes1

And next time (if there is one) I will definitely take you up on your offer and get some good advice! :thumbsup2

The scenery is always nice at Cedar Point! ;)

We usually go the second week they are open, which tends to draw the rebelious types that skip school......hmmmmmmmmm.

I wouldn't call what we do "cooking". More like throw a potato in the microwave, throw a steak on the grill, and open a bag of salad! Wash down with vodka, and your on vacation! You should check out the cabins at Lighthouse Point though if you go again, well worth the price.

Glad you had a good time!
