Has anyone been to Darien Lake? My Mom is thinking of taking me there. It is not Disney but it is closer to home. :confused3

I've been! A couple of times... it is fun... but not as fun as Disney.
I mostly enjoyed the waterpark because I am not a huge ride lover... I like the tame Disney coasters over the wild ones at Darien Lake!!!

I'm going on Monday - I'll let you know what I think now that I've had a couple Disney trips since last I visited...

Darien Lake is a lot of fun. We had season passes one year, and went 6 times, from Hamilton. Of course it's not like Disney, but it's better than Wonderland (in our opinion). The waterparks are fun, but the best part is the camping, and the laser show. Even if you're not staying overnight, go to the laser show, it's awesome! We have gone every year, for the past 15 years, camping for 2 nights, and 3 days in the parks. Have fun, you'll enjoy it!

We were just there last weekend. In off season, they offer a good deal to rent one of their RV's - includes unlimited use of the park as well. This is the 3rd time we've gone in May. You take a chance with the weather but the trailers are heated, have bathrooms and showers and you're within walking distance of the theme park. The trailers are well maintained and clean. The sites are grassy.
So - for less than $300 Cdn total, our family of 4 stayed in an RV for 2 nights, and spent 2 days at the the park. You can also make your own meals if you don't want to eat expensive theme park food.
We had an awesome time and also enjoy Darien Lake over Canada's Wonderland.

We went a couple of years ago and had a great time. The rollar coasters are really intense. Not like Disney. We had more fun in the water park than in any other area. We also packed a picnic and went out to a grassy area near the car park to relax and have lunch. I don't know if it's still available, but we got discounted tickets from CAA. I think we paid about $25 each CAD and the gate price was around $45 USD. From the Toronto area it's around a 2 hour drive.

Well, I went yesterday with a few friends... It was cold so I think experiences are a tad marred by that...
A few rides are very similar to Canada's Wonderland (just painted a different colour and a different name), the midway reminds me of the CNE Ex. Not nearly as cool as Disney, no music while you're waiting in line, no eleaborate theming....
I found they are not as efficent is moving the line as Canada's Wonderland is... at Wonderland, most rollercoasters will have 2 cars going at one, but they didn't do that as Darien Lake. Not fast passes either - what a drag!
It's not bad for a 2 hour drive. The lunch buffet at Beaver Brother's Lakeside Cafe was good and worth the $9.99 for "Brunch with Bugs Bunny" - way cheaper than the other covered restuarant (which we almost ate at but the heat wasn't on, so we left).
Warnings: Parking is $10.00, Superman ride line-up closes 1 and 1/2 hours before the park closes.

Went 2 years ago after Labour Day. Not everything was open but it only cost $11 for the day and it was walk on to the rides. Superman was awesome. Lots of speed.
Their Superman coaster is very good but the rest of the coasters are on the same level (bad) as Wonderland. Their flat rides are not as good as those at Wonderland.
