Well, I got a phone call last night, they cancelled my flight.. Now if I want to fly nonstop through Charlotte NC, and change planes.. I can use them.. oh and for the same money as my original flight which was direct nonstop.. I am not sure what I am doing yet..
I am putting this here to tell you all to check your flights. I know Livia was having problems as well.. and now me.. EEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Barb.. I will be looking over my shoulder to see where you will be hiding and skulking around.. but it did make me laugh this morning.. especially after this flight information.. I was very sad.. Hugs everyone as we get closer and closer..

So far our American flights are OK. But my sister-in-law's family's flights on United to and from Chicago were cancelled. Fortunately - they were rebooked on other non-stop flights that left at better times.
Good luck with your new flight search, Marsha.
SW has my flight on hold...meaning??? According to them they may cancel it or they may change the times, I have to call them tomorrow. I want to change to the day before.....who knows what will happen!!!
At this point I have two trips with messed up air!! One of them making connections through Reagan International.
I'm using USAir, too. So far, no phone call. It's the only non-stop flight out of Allentown. If I have to I can fly out of Philly. It would make no sense for me to fly out of Allentown and have to make a connection in Philly. I can fly directly out of Philly non-stop almost all day long. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, tightyly crossed!
Marsha, glad I could help. :) Hope things get settled for you, and Glo, too.

All of my 4 flights have been changed. I leave her almost 2 hours later and arrive in Orlando 2 hours later. :( :( :( I'll miss the dinner meet at WC. :(
Then I leave Orlando 6 hours EARLIER  and arrive home earlier :)
But the agent did tell me that they are subject to change again between now and then and that I should check back a few days before my departure. :( Grrrr!
Good Luck Everyone.

Our flights went from a non-stop to either a connection throught Pittsburgh or Charlotte. Since US Airways is hubbed in Pittsburgh we thought it best to go through there. We arrive at the same time but leave an hour and a half earlier! :p
BTW, a plug for travel agents here (my wife is one :) ). Agents, at least good agents, will notify you when a change takes place and chances are they can find you better connections then what an airline may propose. They get an electronic notification from the airline computers. So, if you are traveling, try an agent again. It may not be cheaper but I'd trust a travel agent over an airline or online service anyday. IMHBO (In My Humble and Biased Opinion) :D

USAir charged me $100 for changing my flights. I wonder if I can get a rebate if THEY decide to change/cancel my flights. :D
SW just told me that I can change my flights to the night before, I might take up the offer, but can not get out til 6:15pm. That gets me into MCO at 9:05 yikes...I am such a chicken coming in in the dark......any suggestions for a chicken?....lol

I cancelled USAir and am getting my money back from them.. I am flying out Delta, nonstop direct, it is a little more money, but I do not care.. I am not a good flyer and just do not want to stop over in Charlotte or Pittsburgh and have to change planes, I can see DH and I running around the terminal looking for the gate and miss the connection, never mind landing and taking off twice..or worrying about my luggage making the change with me. EEK!!! So I am all set, I have new flight arrangements and unless Delta starts changing them I should be ok..
OK.. one more thing. I will from now on use a travel agent..had I used one, she would have been notified of the change and immediately got in the system and grabbed me an appropriate change...When I got to my usual travel agent, some of the best seats were gone..It is ok as I still got on a nonstop direct but I would have a better choice as she knows how I am about travelling.
Good luck to the others who are experiencing changes as well..

Glo - if you are taking Mears or a towncar to your hotel, it's no problem arriving at night. Enjoy getting to WDW a day earlier!
I'm glad things worked out to your satisfaction, Marsha.
Hey Nancy thanks for the Mears info, but I have a person who used to work at Mears and started his own company. He has been Marsha's driver for years, and I used him last July and was very pleased.

For all you people scared of the dark: You can come meet me at the airport at 1100PM on the 27th. Luckily I am one of those people who just barrels on through with head held high ignoring everyone who gets in my way. Who am I kidding? This is first solo trip like this I have taken in over 20 years. I won't get to my hotel until 1230 or 1am. Luckily I know where I am going (I think) ;)
Tammy...hi and welcome!!!
I am one of those chickens who will be traveling at night, but who knows maybe if I am lucky I can change my ressies to earlier in the day. I am hoping.....Yikes!

my first night (Nov 27th) is at the Grosvenor (DTD) checking in real late without AP then getting AP and checking into All Star Music or Movies (don't remember which) for the rest of the trip. I save a whooping $9 that first night but since I won't actually have the AP yet for the AP rate I feel better. Ethics are such a wonderful thing to have. I grew up with WDW and have been many times in my young life and am a great navigator (drives my husband nuts) so I remember where most things are even if it has been awhile since I've been there and at 1230 in the morning I shouldn't have to worry about traffic.
Pretty cunning how I wrangled an AP out of this isn't it. Now I get to go back next year for the convention because I have this AP I need to use (can't have it go to waste)

For the flight down Pittsburgh they changed our flight number, but I think they are just combining 2 flights that leave at the same time, becuase now they only show one. Then coming home we were to leave Orlando at 11:35 a.m. and they changed our flight to leave at 11:04 a.m., which isn't bad. Still non-stop both ways, but I wish they would have changed the trip home to later. We may not be able to attend the farwell breakfast since we'll have to be at the airport by 9:00 at the latest and will probably want to be there more like 8:30. we were notified by e-mail since we booked online.
Oh well, things could be worse! Who knows, they could change again. They recommended that we verify our itinerary "just prior to departure whether or not you have received notice of additional changes."
:( HMMMMMM. I hope not!!

I called Continental last week and they verified that my flights have not changed...as of yet. Course I'm leaving Denver (where they have the worst (longest) security lines) at 6:30 in the morning. Guess that means I'll have to be at the airport around 4:30 am. I made all these plans before September 11th, and wouldn't be a bit surprised if things change.

Got an email from USAir this evening informing me that my segment from Pittburgh to Orlando had been cancelled. I quickly called the 800 number and got a new (earlier) connecting flight. Now I just hope the flight from Akron/Canton isn't late because I only have 35 minutes to make the connection. Yikes!
So it cost me $100 to make a change, but they can cancel my flight and make me rearrange my schedule for nothing. What's wrong with this picture. Afterall, who is the customer here?
luvdsny
10-24-2001, 08:01 PM
John, isn't that $100 fee for changes a JOKE!!! Same thing here.....if they cancel my flight...no 'credit' for me, but if I make the change.....$100 each time! Grrrr!
:::screaming::: WHERE'S THE JUSTICE????????????????
Okay, I'm cool  now. ;)
Well, I just got my notice of change. My flight down is still the same. I leave Allentown at 7:35 am and arrive at MCO at 10:09 am. (I really like getting there early in the morning) But, my flight home has been bumped up 2 hours and they've added a stop! Darn it! I now leave MCO at 7:20 PM, instead of 9:10 pm.(so I lose about an hour in the parks & gain it in the air. WooHoo!) I arrive home at approximately the same time, but now have a stop in Pittsburgh and it looks like I have to change planes, too! I get into Pittsburgh at 9:41 pm and leave again at 10:45 pm. So I have an hour to get lost and for them to screw up my luggage! I purposely picked these flights because they are non-stop. It's not catastrophic, but I'm not real happy about the change. I can't wait to see what they pull in the next month.
You know, I wondered what would happen if they messed up my flights and I had to change, now I know! I can't believe they made you pay the $100 for something they did!!! That really stinks to high heaven!! At this time, when everyone is afraid to fly, you'd think they would waive some of those stupid fees. So much for customer service!!
well, my Dec. trip is going to be a living hell...5 hours from take off to landing with an hour lay over at reagan national...yikes, with 4 kids!
Now, I must say I am impressed with Southwest Airlines. They called to say that my flight had been cancelled on the way down and to choose another time. I picked 3:45 on 11/27 and booked it. then I got to thinking, and wanted to leave earlier. I called expecting a charge and nothing. If there is room and the fare is comperable there is no charge to change. I was so pleased. I even ended up with a credit of $20 because the flight was cheaper ...How cool is that? So now, I get into MCO at 2:15.....yippeeeee!!!! A whole 24 hours earlier than I was originally going to get there...Now if I could only talk my DH into letting me leave Monday night....lol  ;)
Glo, does that mean you can join us at Whispering Canyon for dinner on the 27th? A bunch of early arrivals are meeting for dinner that night. We figured we'd invade WDW early! :D

Pittsburgh isn't that hard to find your way around and if you are close on your arrival and departure times, just let someone know (maybe the flight attendant on your plane into Pgh so they can notify someone at the gate) and they will have a cart available to drive you from one gate to the other. Although with 35 minutes between flights you shouldn't have a problem getting from one gate to the other if your flight lands on time. Hope this helps!

Just got a call from my travel agent. The airline cancelled my return flight on December 3. Now I can either fly back on Dec. 2 or Dec. 6.
Already bought a ticket for MVMCP on Dec. 2 and I don't want to miss that.
So, maybe I'll just have to stay until Dec. 6......... But, my AP is only valid thru December 2 and I'll need 3 extra hotel nights - so this will be expensive. Decisions, decisions........

Guess What!
I have been waiting 'til the last minute to cancel Ed's and the kid's airline tickets, because whether I do a month ago or a month from now, I would get charged $100/ticket. :(
Well since they've changed our flights and flight times so much lately, I thought I would call and cancel their tickets and see if I can get better flights being a solo passenger.
When I called to cancel their reservations I told the lady that I already knew I would have to take a hit on the tickets, but I wanted to cancel them to see if I could find better flights for MYSELF, and she said........drum roll please........."mam, did you know that you are entitled to a full refund?" My jaw drops! Then she says, "yes, since your flights have been changed by more than 90 minutes on both ends of your travel, you are entitled to a full refund."

Good for you Sandra. Now if USAir would just cancel my return flight......
Well, I made the mistake of checking flights on USAir's website. Not only did they change my flight home and I lost two hours at WDW, the price of the new round trip flight is about $15.00 cheaper. Doesn't it just figure. :( I sent them an email asking if I do get a refund of the difference? It seems reasonable to me. After all, THEY changed my flights, not me. I am still taking the latest flight home I can get, but I wanted that later flight so I could have a full last day at Disney. I'm just not sure now if I want to go with Mears. They have a tendency to bring you to the airport way too early, just to suit their schedule. I have to think about this now.
omg this is so bad....I just got off the phone with USair...They had half of out party leaving 45 minutes after the rest of us. Then they were going to NC and the rest of us were going to DC. In DC we were flying into Reagan International, but flying out of Baltimore??Does someone see something wrong with this? Then the group going to NC arrives at 10;33 PM and the other group at 9:28 pm....
Now, the tickets cost me $162 including taxes and fees. I can get a a full credit on my credit card, but I can not find anything comparable right now. UUUGH!!
I am so angry.....Now we are all on the 5:45 out of Boston with a connection in Charolette, NC getting into Tampa at 10:33pm. This with 4 kids....Oh I can tell this is going to be fun!!!
Throwing a hissy fit...a temper tantrum!!!
Glo! That's awful-what were they thinking? How could they think they could split a group up like that? Well, it's not pretty, but at least you're all on the same flights. (at least, for now!) What happens after you all get to Tampa? How do you get to WDW?
Barb at 10:33 we will pick up the minivan and drive to WDW...can you believe it? Even worse it is a 90 minute ride...oh boy what fun...if this wasn't a family reunion I would just chuck the entire trip...

But when you finally get there, it will be wonderful ! You have been planning that for ages -- I remember that I read your posts last year talking about this reunion! Once you get over with the stress of flying and actually getting there, it is going to be fun. The nice thing bout WDw is there is so much to do that you can actually spend a lot of time together and a lot of time doing things separately. It is going to work out!
I'll be taking my laptop with me Livia, and I will take my therapy over the internet...someone better be there to keep me sane....lol. OMG deja vu!

I have just got into Delta's sight and found my itinerary there. I discovered that my flight home is confirmed but... I haven't a seat designed for me. This set off my internal
OVERBOOKING ALARM !!!!
As someone who has been astray in Atlanta for 5 days due to Delta's overbooking, this news forebodes disaster... My Orlando flight arrives just half an hour before my international flight. I am calling the airline tommorrow and try to see if I can leave in an earlier :( flight. I have learned that my flight to the US will be pretty crowded too. My seat is at the back of the plane with one of the last free seats in the whole aircraft. Let's hope it remains like that: empty....

Livia, I will keep you in my thoughts. I am flying Suncountry from Minnesota and they have changed my flights 3 times all ready. It is getting very old, and their customer service stinks. It will be the last time I fly with them. I will stick with AA or Northwest.
I hope you have an uneventful flight.

Pat, we all need lots of pixie dust! At least I discovered the overbooking signs way before I left home. As I am on vacation, I could be delayed in Atlanta with little loss. I just don't want to be supposedly placed in another flight back home. The other time they did that to me I ended up in Miami airport and had no flight back home either. I had to spend the night at the hotel there and had a terrible experience with them charging my credit card... If I have to be stuck somewhere, I prefer to be stuck in Atlanta, which is a great city. All I can do is call tommorrow and try to get earlier to the airport.
Oh, Livia! This is so crazy, isn't it? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Good luck.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for me, too. So far, there's only been one change. I do not want to leave Orlando any earlier than I have to. And, I don't want to arrive any later than I have to. Early in and late out. That way I get the most for my days in WDW. I picked these flights specifically for that reason. If they change anything else, I'm going to be very upset............unless they change my flight home to the next day, of course! ;)

I thank you all for the the good wishes and pixie dust! I am sure it will work out. And Pollyana me thinks: "At least the mess is with the return flight". I will be there on the morning of the 26th.
Marsha: the crazyest thing is that my ticket is issued and paid for! It seems to be another case of overbooking... As I am a frequent flyer, I can check my status on line. I don't believe you will have problems, though. You have very frequent flights to and from Boston. Delta cuts its flights to Rio quite drastically. From daily, now we have only three a week.
Barb: pixie dust to you too... in fact to all of our flights :) :) :) :) :) :)
