My six and a half year old granddaughter wants me to teach her to knit. My skills are not great but I can do the basics. I got some childrens needles and bulky yarn at Michaels. I am wondering if anyone has any tips on how to demonstrate, do hand over hand or how to best go about this. :rolleyes1

I would try hand over hand at first.
There's also a GREAT website, called www.knittinghelp.com which has small, short videos demonstrating technique. I've used it for other stuff, but I know she has several videos for casting on, and for knitting and purling.
Good Luck!!!!!

:goodvibes I have fond memories of my grammie teaching me when was I was 7 or 8. Do the hand over hand, it shouldn't take long. And I'd just teach her to knit and purl. She'll be satisfied with making everyone in the family scarves!
