Hello:
If I remember correctly from my last trip to U.S., about 7 years ago, we didn't have any problem finding bank machines that would work with our Canadian bank card. Is this still the case? Anybody know what kind of fees they were charged? Do all stores and restaurants etc take debit like they do here in Ont.? Are bank machines and debit easily accessible in WDW and at Fort Wilderness? Assuming the technology holds up, I don't see any need for traveller's cheques.
I appreciate your input/opinions.
Thanks Pete. ........... leaving Sun.!!!

There are bank machines all over WDW and they all work with our bank cards so you shouldn't have a problem at all.

Bank machines are available everywhere in WDW, interac however may not be available everywhere. We have found in less expensive in the past to charge everything to our room which is of course charged to your credit card, but only once and it seems at better exchange rates than what the bank machines charge. If you are going to use the bank machines, try to use them infrequently, the charges do add up. BTW, we still bring some travellers cheques. We feel safer that way knowing we can get them replaced if lost. I'm sure it would be a real pain to try to replace a Canadian bank card when in WDW.

Hello:
We just got back from WDW this afternoon. We all had a great time and the weather was great. I saw bank machines all over that I could use. The charge was $2.00 US. We stayed at Fort Wilderness and there was a machine at Pioneer Hall.

Hi prmountain
We have gone last year to wdw in the first week of march.
The bank machines are all over the sites. The bank charge me $3.00 can each transaction
( no matter the amount ) and the change rate is the one of the day.
I think that it is way less expensive than the commission for traveler's cheques.
We were there one week, I had changed $200.us at my bank before the trip, and I used the bank machine twice for a total fee of $6.00.
The other expenses had gone to the credit card where I paid the daly change rate.
Hope this will help

Just thought I'd add that when I was there in July, Interac didn't work for us in stores, restaurants, etc. but was OK at cash machines. We didn't take any traveller's cheques...used cash machines and credit card only and had no regrets.
Have fun.

If you have Canadian debit cards on the Plus or Cirrus systems, then you can access any ATM in USA. Interac is purely a network of Canadian banks, and other financial institutions.
This debit card/ATM card is not valid for any purchases in US retail stores, because Interac, is a Canadian network.
However, anyone with a Bank of Montreal debit/ATM card - can purchase in any US retail store - if the retail store subscribes to the Maestro network - which the BOM card is affiliated.
