After all of the hype surrounding this film, is anyone going to see it this weekend?

We are going on Saturday.

This is a tough one, I've not read the book (but I'm going to take it on holiday with me in the Summer), so I don't want to see the film as it will ruin the book for me. The film looks like it could be really good and it has a strong cast, but for me, the books always seem to be much better than the films (i.e. Harry Potter)

I am going with my Mum next week (Orange Wednesday!) - I'm looking forward to it, but I'm gonna try and read the book again before I go just to refreshmy memory. I enjoyed the book, and really didnt expect to, but I'm not sure about Tom Hanks as Langdon? :confused3

Nope. Won't even bother when it's on Sky in 18 months time.

I raise an eyebwhen I read, see or hear members of the church denouncing the DVC as fictional nonsense but that's because (in my personal opinion), all religious books are just that - works of fiction. So the DVC is fiction based on fiction.

I respect people do have beliefs about religion but I don't thinks it's something I'll ever have. On the other hand, I love nothing more when in different countries or cities than visiting places of worship. As I tell my children, whether you believe in religion or not you have to respect the years of dedication and love that has gone into creating a church.

Can't agree more on the religious buildings. When I look at Lincoln cathedral it amazes me to think that people were building it for 1000 years. Now we get irritated if something takes 9 months!

I'm glad we're not the only people who aren't even slightly bothered about this movie, we were beginning to think we were the only ones! X-Men 3 on the other hand, well tickets are booked for opening night!!!

But the real movie that I cannot wait to see is Superman Returns (http://supermanreturns.warnerbros.com/). Just listening to the music gives me goosebumps. I remember collecting bubble gum cards and pestering my Mum & Dad to take me to see the original Christopher Reeve (RIP) Superman.

I am another big Dan Brown fan - just can't leave his books down. We are going to see the movie on Sunday I hope it is as good as the book. :teeth:

We will probably be going next week, I loved this book. Saw a clip on Jay Leno the other night when he was interviewing Paul Bettany (who was very funny). He plays Silas the monk, and looks very scary :scared1:

Loved all Dan Brown's books apart from Deception Point (couldn't get into it for some reason).

I enjoyed Digital Fortress more then Da Vinci Code :)

Not really bothered about seeing the film at the cinema, will probably wait and get it on DVD :)

I saw the film last night. I thought it was good, but not as good as the book. There were some bits of the book left out slightly which could have made it confusing to those who have not read it. The bits left out were only small, but if added would have made the film better IMHO (it was some of the stuff explaining the criptics and how Sophie learned to discipher them.) The film was quite long at 2 hours 15 mins so it was quite a while to sit still so you can understand why bits were left out and why some details were changed. I thought the acting was OK but not great, I was not drawn to their interpritation of the story as I was when I read the book. I felt the acting did not draw you to the characters and I did not feel I understoon the characters motives or their feelings. I did not feel the Monk was sinister and I didn't really see any feelings between Nuveau and Langdon. I also didn't feel the pace of the story like I did in the book, the story just seemed to plod along rather than grip my attention. I'm glad I saw the film but probably won't pay to see it again. I can see why the film got poor reviews but if you like the book I would give it a try. I haven't read the book for over a year but I think I will read it again now so I can have a better comparison.

Since we spend so much on our Sky+ package we have a rule that we only go to the cinema for Harry Potter films and for everything else we wait 18months!

I loved all the Dan Brown books, especially Angels and Demons, I think they are going to make a film about this next.

Haven't read the book, but I don't think I can resist a film that has 'contains flagellation' as one of its parental guidance warnings :lmao:

I went to see the film yesterday and I did enjoy it overall but it didn't grip you the way the book does, it did seem to drag a bit in the middle. I agree that there did not seem to be any chemistry between the 2 main characters. I have read the book, and maybe if I hadn't the film would have been a bit more exciting, or maybe it would have been a bit harder to understand. Not really sure, but I enjoyed it anyway and my hubbie did too, and he is very critical and hard to please with regards to films.
