These pics are great. The pool at AKL looks awesome! Surely someone has pics of SOG they can share?

And some of my favorite views at the Quarter!
A great quiet, sitting spot!

Friends think I am nuts ... I just love looking at all these pictures ... especially those of the suites. We are hoping that we might get some pixie dust at the YC this next trip in Nov/Dec since it is noted that it is our 25th wedding anniversary and our son's 8th birthday. But I will be happy with whatever, wherever we get ... afterall we will be at WDW.

This is a great idea!! So many hotels we have been curious about but haven't had a chance to tour. This will help a lot with future planning. Keep 'em coming!!!

Here are my long-ago-promised pics of the Disneyland Hotel. This was room 2636 in the Sierra Tower - we booked standard, but I tend to think we got some sort of upgrade - awesome view, and the room was huge! (It was a corner room.)

This was probably the most "Disney" room I've ever stayed in. We loved all of the artwork, the bedspread depicting classic attractions, the armoire with the Disneyland map, the Mickey fixtures in the bathroom, and above all - the pixie dust border! I didn't get a close-up picture of it, but the border running the perimeter of the room had Tinkerbell and trails of PD on it, and at night, the PD glowed in the dark. I want some of this for my house! :teeth:

Here is our room at the Poly this March 2006 - we had a renovated garden view room in Fiji (#2304). We were on the 2nd floor (thus, no balcony).

Here is the other room we stayed in on our March 2006 trip - #2505 in Congress Park at Saratoga Springs. This is a studio (and our first trip home as DVC members!).

2505 was a 1st floor unit:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a149/Tinkaroo77/IMG_3431.jpg

We typically don't like being on the first floor, but in this instance it was quiet, convenient, and we had nice neighbors. ;)

Wonderful pictures everyone! Keep 'em coming! :thumbsup2

I am LOVING those pictures of the Disneyland Hotel. I adore all the "Disney" touches. I sure wish they had something that "Disneyfied" at WDW--I'd book there in a heartbeat. Well, now I know where I'm staying whenever I finally make it out to California!

Tinkaroo, thanks for those pictures of the SSR studio. I think Disney did a terrific job with the decor at SSR. I love the colors and the theme.

Those pictures of the Disneyland Hotel are great! I need to go to Disneyland so bad. I've always wanted to stay at the Disneyland Hotel, but both times we went to Disneyland, my parents wouldn't pay for it, so we stayed at the Anaheim Plaza and a Best Western.

And those Poly rehab rooms make me want to stay there again.

Here are a couple of the Grand Californian, I'll try to post some more if I can get them resized (stupid computer :badpc: )

The view from the room, concierge level, Brisa Courtyard. The monorail runs through here you can see the track in the middle.

The beds piled high with luggage. I didn't take any of the lounge but I will when we go back in mid-November.

I do different things on different trips. So sometimes I take different photo framed pictures and other times I don't take any photo framed pictures ect. > The 2 clocks and the photo framed photo of " Minnie kissing me on the lips  " stayed in the room the whole trip. I did take the other photo framed photos out of the room. The other Minnie and me photo framed photos I took with me at different times like when I walked from my room to the Cape May for my cute little Minnie Mouse character meal :cloud9: Also I took that photo framed photo of " Suzy Mouse giving me a hug and kissing me on the ear :p :p :p " when I went to the 1900 Park Fare and other places :cloud9: Be on the look out for some of these photos on other threads :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Now for a photo of my bed at the Beach Club Resort :goodvibes I must say I did not use it that much, I did not get much sleep on this trip and I came home very tired :p  :p

great idea! Now don't shoot me anyone... but who does Disney pay for their interior decorating? Judging by some of those pictures, they should be asking for their money back...

Is it just me? or do some of those rooms "clash"?!

While not my taste, a lot of those rooms seem to have the look of New England Old Money. They look like something you'd see in a snooty resort in Maine or on Cape Cod. That's just my thought though.

See, i am from RI, and i LOVE the look of the BC/YC.. to me they feel like "home".. And i love love love the colors, so much so, i am painting my kitchen to have that same scheme.
:thumbsup2 But, i DEFINATELY agree, some resorts - to me it is the Contemp. and a couple others, the colors / fabrics are YUCKY!! LOL Like what were they thinking?! :confused3 :teeth:

My wife and I (also from the NE) felt the same way about the Contemp on our first stay there back in '02. But it sorta has grown on us. We've been back 2 more times (for conferences) and we like it much more now. I will say this: The remodeled rooms, IMHO, are MUCH better looking than the old "zebra print/bright color contrast" decor. We were in one of the non-refurb tower rooms back in Jan but got a chance to see one of the refurbed rooms out in one of the Garden Wings. Night and Day difference for us. We "liked" the old rooms but we LOVE the refurbed rooms.

I'm not sure what kind of room it was. When the bell man brought our bags I asked if all the rooms were like ours and he said no, we got a good one. We paid for a standard. When checking in the CM said, "ok, you asked for an upper floor w/garden view, so that's what you're getting" and almost acted like I'd be sorry but I wasn't! You could roller skate in there, plus it was the first door rounding the corner from the elevator. I went back down later and told him we loved the room and he said and said he knew we would. Some days you just get pixie dusted. :wizard:

just subscribing..trying to make decision on which resort...thanks to everyone!
Darlin' you just start with one or two (split your stay), then the next year do the same thing until you've slept in them all. We are still lacking a stay at OKW, GF and the values. But there's always next year!

I know I can’t be the only one who loves seeing pictures of resort rooms at the Disney resorts. It helps me choose where to stay next.

I thought we could start a thread with pictures from your rooms at the Disney resorts (including the Swan/Dolphin and Ft. Wilderness). Please post which resort and as much detail as you remember about the room (like the room number, the view type, which building it was in, etc.). Feel free to posts pictures of the view from the room as well. If you have pictures of the grounds or lobbies of the resorts, there is another thread for those, so please post those there. :)

Here are my pictures from the Beach Club. It was a standard view room (# 4702). The view wasn’t great, so I didn’t take pictures of that.

Amen to that! :teeth: That is exactly our strategy. You're a bit ahead of us though. We still lack ASSp, ASMo, CSR, CBR, POFQ, CR, the Swan, and all the DVC resorts except OKW where we've already stayed. My first goal is to finish the deluxes, then move on from there.

:wizard:

We stayed in a standard view at BWI. We were not on a corner-actually we were in adjoining rooms and I thought they were huge. We had stayed in the BC before but these felt bigger to me. We also had an extra large balcony, which was great!

Hey. Im pretty sure someone else on this web. is as big a fan as I am for Pop Century. I went two yrs. in a row to it. I think nothing in the world can beat it though Im sure many people can disagree. My Uncle went there recently and he thought Pop was depressing. I really cant see how other people see how its depressing. I can see how some people dont like it because its not really there thing but I dont see how people find it depressing. I only find it depressing when I have to leave it. I think its the least from depressing.
I think thats all I have to say. Im kind of new at this so I dont really know how I get answers or replys back. Ill find out eventually. Pop Century

Pop Century is our favorite of the value resorts. The theme is really well done and a lot of fun. We have stayed there twice and enjoyed it both times. Here are some pictures of our room for you (we were in the 80's section in room #7434).

I loved our rooms at the Boardwalk. Honestly, its not my fave-that's Beach Club...But I love the decor in the Boardwalk. And from our balcony we could watch the fireworks at Epcot. Hi, there was no phonograph in the room. My husband would have gotten a kick out of it if there was! Maybe that would have been the Victorian Suite at the Grand?? :confused3 The place was filled with original artwork from the Imagineers and family photos of Walt's. I was in heaven. The pics don't do the suite justice - I am disappointed in how dark some of them turned out. It was a DREAM stay for my 40th bday. :wizard:

You're sweet! My Newfie brings me so much joy. :goodvibes She is a treasure.

In the Walt Disney Suite, there were 2 bedrooms - a master w/ king (super super comfy with upgraded linens) and a bedroom with twin sleigh beds. There were 2 1/2 bathrooms - the master bath was mega about the size of a deluxe hotel room, LOL. I just cannot begin to say how wonderful that suite was. I love the GF to begin with, but that stay in that suite just amazed us.

If it's one of the Signature 2 Bedroom Suites (which I think it is, along with the Roy Disney Suite), then it's $2020 per night in value season 2006.

...so I hope I'm not asking a question that has already been asked here. Because I'm so new to these forums I have to ask all the silly "newbie" questions.

How lucky have you been when requesting a specific room or building? Did you ask when you booked, or when you checked in? We're staying at POR in December, and need a room with a trundle bed. I've narrowed it down to a couple of buildings, but I'm almost afraid to request. DH thinks I just need to relax and take whatever they give us. I am just way too much of a control freak to let that happen! ;)

Any input is greatly appreciated, and thanks to everyone for these wonderful pictures!

I've never tried requesting a specific room but I've always had good luck with requesting a building. If you don't request anything you are going to get what everyone else didn't request. My husband did the same thing to me last year at POFQ and we had the farthest room you could get from the bus stop and food court, plus a parking lot view. We moved the next day to a court yard view near the bus stop. Don't be afraid to ask for what you want, it can't hurt. Try to relax! I'm always nervous before check in and it always works out. Disney is very accommodating.

Just some quick input, vis-a-vis your question: DW and I stayed at AKL Deluxe Savannah Room (and first time on property) almost a year ago, and we requested a view of Arusha Savannah. Upon check in (about 10:30 a.m. on a Sunday), we were told that our room was ready. We excitedly went to our room, and noticed we had a view of the dreaded People Pen (not in the Arusha Savannah). We went back down to the lobby and ever-so-politely asked for a view without the Dreaded People Pen, and were promptly given a completely awesome view of the Arusha Savannah, as we had previously requested. Don't know for certain, but I believe that the relative early time of our check in, plus the fact that I didn't affect an entitled-type of attitude with the people at the check in desk, contributed to our getting the Room of Our Dreams.

Just a thought. :)

Thanks for your help...I think I'll request a building # when I call to make the last payment. Then maybe upon check in I'll be bold enough to politely ask again.

Thanks again...I just love these boards! So glad I found you all.

ITA with all of the above from the perspective of someone who has worked at resorts (non-Disney). I once upgraded some friends who were getting together for the weekend with their young kids just because they were so sweet and friendly (they didn't even ask for the upgrade). Just know that people generally want to help you if they can, but you'll get a lot of resistance if you come back to the front desk with an attitude. You attract more bees....

We will have a crib for DD2 in our double beds room at POFQ. Anyone have experience where to put a crib in the rooms? The photos look great, but I don't see any room to place a crib. At home, DD has to have her own space with the door closed to fall asleep. When we've gone on trips, we usually put her down and escape out of the room for a little while - either in an adjoining room or outside the door to hang out. (NO, we won't wonder off to the pools or anything!!). But I'm expecting Disney will be different and she will just be so tired and crash - or I will :rotfl:

Thanks for all the pics - gives us ideas for future trips. :cool1:

You could probably fit her in the sink area and then close the curtain for privacy and a "space of her own." There's room there if you put the crib over by the closet.

The other place you could put it is where the bench sits, and then you could move the bench to the side of the bed or something.

If you need to leave the room to give her privacy, it's very pleasant to sit outside your room (either on the curb or a nearby bench if you're on the first floor) or on some chairs (take your room chairs out or bring your own camping chairs) out on the common walkway area if you're up higher.

You'll love POFQ. It's a lovely, intimate resort.

Thanks for the input!! I was thinking about the bathroom area with the curtain - as long as we didn't need to visit while she was still sleeping! :rolleyes1

We are going with additional family members and have 3 rooms total, so we'll have somewhere to hang out or someone to listen for her!

I can't wait!! :Pinkbounc

I have no idea! I'm betting it's a pathway with a dead-end where you can stroll towards the Contemporary but not actually right up to it. The closer pathways in the picture are just internal pathways at the Poly.

Edit: Obviously your room was in the Sugar Loaf building. What I meant is, do you have to be concierge to get a fairy room or are other buildings decorated like that?

Here's some information from the GF FAQ thread:
I hear that there are different themes that the rooms are decorated in. Which theme is where?

Main Building
Most rooms are decorated in Cameo.
Two concierge rooms are decorated in Historic.
All Honeymoon Rooms are decorated in Floral.

Sago Cay
All rooms are decorated in Swan.

Sugar Loaf Key
All rooms are decorated in Cameo.

Conch Key
All rooms are decorated in Alice.

Boca Chica
Most rooms are decorated in Floral.
Two Garden View rooms are decorated in Historic.
One Lagoon View room is decorated in Historic.

Big Pine Key
All rooms are decorated in Alice.

I believe that the fairy bedspread is the "Cameo" one, and according to this it's only available in the main building or Sugar Loaf building, so you would have to be staying concierge level to have that bedsread. Not to worry though--all the bedspreads are cute!

Oh, thank you so much. You are too kind!

From what I understand, the "people pens" are there in case the resort has to be evacuated. This way the people would have somewhere to go without being in the savannah where the people or animals could get hurt.

If you want to be underwhelmed, check out the SoG page(s) on the accomodations page on allearsnet.com. (Just my opinion, of course!)

I've stayed at SoG, and I am returning there again in Nov-Dec for a 10 day visit. It's lovely! We toured the other resorts, and they are obviously very impressive and beautiful. I'd love to stay at the Grand Floridian some day! While the theming at SoG is of course not on par with the Disney resorts, it's still a very, very nice resort. And at only $100 a night, with some of the biggest rooms on property and the same resort-guest-only bennies as people staying at the Disney resorts, it's a steal, IMO. No way would I pay more money for a moderate resort room that is much smaller. I got 2 queen sized beds plus a pull-out bed at SoG. A big bathroom. A mini-fridge, and I didn't have to request it--it's just there all the time, imagine that (I have a real problem with Disney forcing people to *request* a fridge--give me a break--let alone making them pay extra for it at the value resorts).

I'm not trying to be snide, promise. I just get a little tired of seeing people slam SoG. It's a great place to stay, at a great price. I truly don't understand why anyone who is eligible to stay there would choose to pay significantly more money to stay in a smaller room with smaller beds, etc. (i.e. the moderates). Now, staying at a deluxe, if it's in your budget, I can see that. But they're so much more expensive that I just can't justify it for myself, when SoG technically has the size and many of the amenities of the deluxes at a fraction of the price.

Now I'll agree the photos that can be found online don't do it justice. I posted some photos of my view from the room in this thread:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1221401&page=2&pp=15

I, unfortunately, did not take any photos of the inside of the room. I didn't realize this was something someone would want to see at that time! ;)

Whew, ok, rant over. I'll be sure to take photos of the inside of the rooms on my upcoming trip in case anyone would like to see them!

Here are a few of the SOG pics. I am not sure which golf course this is, I'm not a golfer, but the view was awesome. At SOG, you pretty much either get a golf course view or pool view. :cool1: This is in the new section, 3rd floor, all I know is the hike to this room was LONG but it was quiet and pretty once we got there. The bathrooms have a huge double vanity with a separate door for the toilet/shower/bath. SOG is beautiful but spread out now, this room was a hike to the pool/food, but for the price, SOG is SO worth it! :wizard:

Thanks for those photos, rparmfamily! We had a room in the older wing, and those rooms are even bigger than the new ones. There's a little pony wall between the beds and the eating area and pull-out sofa, so it's more separated, which was nice since we put DD on the pull-out bed. She had her own little "room" over there. There was a bigger table with 4 chairs, too. We requested the new wing this time, just to see what those rooms are like, but I'm thinking I like the size and the divided feel of the older rooms better.....may have to change my request, ha ha.

I think the hike to all the rooms is long, ha ha. We requested a ground floor room this time, so we can cut across the grounds whenever possible since those rooms have a nice-sized patio instead of an enclosed balcony. Also so the kids can go out the back door and run around and play if they need to.

Point well taken. :) I was just trying (albeit, admittedly, in an overly glib manner) to convey that the interior photos, while nice, just didn't have any of the WOW factor that the deluxe resorts, and several of the mods, do. To me the interior looks kinda like a really well-kept-up Country Inn and Suites. But, as you mentioned, the price is quite a bargain (and your photo of the grounds is really pretty).

Different strokes...

..I can certainly understand BOTH points of view...while we were NEVER ones for spending extra on our lodging, namely, because our view was, "you never spend THAT much time in the room" - that is, until we stayed for the first time at a Deluxe.....

Not to start a debate--(have you stayed there? since the remodel?)

My photos do not convey the "theme" of SOG. It does have a mission-style tropical theme, with palms and lots of stone. The grounds are beautiful, and it has a parking garage, which is great. It is certainly NOT on par with a Country Inn and Suites, it is beyond it. Staying there, you do get the feel you are at a resort. The hotel does not revolve around Mickey, which is what some of you complain about. My pictures do not give the resort justice. My room was very large and beautiful. The resort backs to a nature area and there are no bad room views here.

We love SOG but we are DVC members now, the drawback we have with SOG is it's hard to book at times. But, most military rec centers are. (the Hale Koa in O'ahu is very hard to get into). The prices are outstanding.

It's a quick and lovely walk across to the Poly for dinner or to catch the monorail.

SOG really is an excellent deal for those eligible to stay there. It was one of the first on-site Disney resorts way back when, called The Disney Inn and had a vague Snow White theme going on back then:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y138/StellaBella05/disneyinn.png

We stayed there before the renovations and it was nice even back then.

The only real thing lacking is a "theme" now. Like PO Riverside and French Quarter, Coronado Springs, etc. have a distinct theme, SOG does not. It's still very clean and very, very well kept. Again, an excellent deal for a Magic Kingdom resort with large rooms, queen size beds and a pull out for a third child too!

Did you try checking over on the Poly thread about the rehab schedule? There are some very helpful Poly vets over there who could probably advise you. (The beautiful photo shows one of the rehabbed rooms.) Go to: www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=820260

There's also a Dis-er (Tikiman) who has an excellent site about the Poly. The address is www.tikiman2001.homestead.com.

Hope this helps!

kimmar, you should've seen how thrilled my mom and I were with the towel animals! We were like two 8 year olds. We even took the Mickey head off the bed carefully and placed it on the floor in the same proper Mickey position. We had great Mousekeeping at the WL. That resort definitely has a peaceful, laid back ambience to it.

Sooze....

thanks for the pictures of the 1 bedroom OKW. Just found out Friday night that our wait list for a 1 bedroom at OKW came thru and was so happy to see pictures other than what's on allears. We have only stayed in the studios at OKW, so the extra room in 1 bedroom will be great! Do you remember what location you were in? My daughter wants Turtle Pond area, she fell in love with that pool there because she could have it all to herself most of the time during our visit last year (go figure, they put in the new waterslide at main pool, and she is only interested in Turtle Pond pool).

Keep the pictures coming.......anymore Poly gardenview (we are doing a split stay!....1st time at Poly)

Thank you to everybody who has posted pictures on this thread! I've had so much fun looking at EVERY page this morning. And I've learned alot too! I never realized how beautiful and spacious WDW suites are! Definitely on my to-do list now. Gee, thanks. There goes more of our money to the Mouse. ;) A Disney freak's gotta do what a Disney freak's gotta do, right?

I'm off to gather pictures to share from our trips... :moped:

This past December, we split our stay between AKL and BWV.

Up first - AKL, our room was SV and since there have been quite a few of those shared, I won't bother with them. I took lots of pictures at the pool, not many in the room anyway.

We had a one bedroom, SV at BWV (notice the air mattress on the floor, twin size, fits very nicely)

We stayed in a North wing, lakefront room at CR in April.

This is my DD (8, turning 9 during our trip) on the "beach" just a few yards from our patio.

I cannot imagine haveing that view! It must have been magical. We stayed at the CR about 20 years ago and my DH always requested the water view for the electrical parade. The fireworks were not offered every night so the parade was the view.

Sooze....

thanks for the pictures of the 1 bedroom OKW.

Keep the pictures coming.......anymore Poly gardenview (we are doing a split stay!....1st time at Poly)

pamela

We were in building 43 room 4324... not sure if that's near Turtle Pond... We did visit our "quiet pool" once.. it was empty and we enjoyed having it to ourselves... plus there was a little playground that DS loved, too.

Enjoy your trip!

Subscribing to this thread. It will be nice to 'go home' through pictures.
Especially when I sneak on at work.

Hey Chesshire Kitty - do you remember what section you were in? Room number? I need to make my room request next week - woohoo! I'd love to land a view like that one. :smooth:

It was a 4th floor studio boardwalk view. We rented DVC points from a member. I'm not sure what the room number was. Sorry!!!!

Since that's not working, try this link for pictures of the honeymoon suite at the Polynesian. You can also navigate to other suite pictures there too.

We were there from 10/25-11/1 and had room 1139. I don't think we took any pictures of the room from Pop, but DH took some of CBR when he was there a few days earlier. Pretty much is the same layout as others have posted about CBR.

I didn't see any LGMHPC's while we were there. Although, I did see one woman with a styrofoam cooler with a LGMH made out of poster board on the top cover.

:teeth:

First of all the art work and furniture (namely the headboard and TV cabinet) in this room are enough to make me want to stay there!

Also, I noticed the wallpaper in the bathroom is the same as the GF pics from page 31 (I think)....bet they got a good deal on that print!

Love this thread!!!
