Points & Cash? Are Both Possible?

Since February I have been trying to get into Vero Beach for a trip scheduled July 29th through August 5th. I currently have 4 of the 7 days booked and I have been on a wait list for the remaining 3 nights. Seeking a 2-bedroom.

Here is the question. If I'm not mistaken DVC keeps a certain number of rooms available for cash paying customers. Can I use a combination of my points for the 4 nights I currently have and then pay cash for the other 3 nights? Obviously, the rooms would need to be available, but can you sort of mix & match like that? :confused3

I was wondering the same thing. We're on the waitlist at HH for Thanksgiving night. Right now there's no room available of any size so we're on the waitlist-for anything. In the meantime, could we call CRO (I'm figuring DVC's inventory is all booked) and try to reserve for cash? Then if/when the waitlist comes through, we could cancel CRO?

Hi You can actually call MS to see if anything is available on cash and you can also ask if there is a MEMBER DISCOUNT on any nights. I have been calling for the past month trying to get BCV-1BDR on a cash/discounted basis for the last weekend in July. Well today(on my 4th try) it was available so I booked it and secured it with a credit card(which will not be charged until check-in). On previous calls it was available but NOT discounted,so I kept trying! GOOD LUCK! Joan

Yes you can mix and match using your points and a cash reservation as long as something is available for cash. You get a 25% discount also on your cash reservation. Good luck!

Thanks so much! You guys are the best! I called MS back today to see if there was a room available on Member Cash for that last night and we had a choice of studio or 1 BR, AND there was a Member's discount. So at least right now we have someplace at HHI for the whole week. 1 BR thru Wednesday, then a studio for Wednesday nite and Thursday nite. All we have to do is pray our waitlist for the 1 BR those 2 nites comes thru. But at least we have a room for all the nights. Thanks-I can't tell you how thrilled I am!

Looks I will be calling MS too. I really need those three nights. My kids are already at Vero Beach mentally and talking about swimming in the Atlantic. :teeth:

When you call about a cash ressie make sure to ask about your waitlist. I was on the list waitilist for Vero (2 bedroom) for one day of our stay in August. When I called today I was told a 2 bedroom was available even though I was never contacted.

Worth a shot!
