Anyone from Red Deer Alberta

Just curious if any of my fellow Canadian folks on here are from Red Deer my DW may be getting a job transfer to there from Ontario. My company will transfer me to our centre in Edmonton so how far is Edmonton from Red Deer and any otehr info on the area would be great. Day care info and schools etc.

Red Deer is about a 1.5 hour drive south of Edmonton.

Alberta is crazy busy right now housing prices have been climbing and climbing! Are you planning on commuting from Edmonton to Red Deer every day? You may consider one of the towns in between to cut down your 3+ hours of diving eveyday.

I would drive it every day not really any different than driving to Toronto and home really so it doesn't make much difference to me I enjoy driving. Not to sound rude but what is there to do in Red Deer I mean the place is only 79 thousand people I am used to cities that are 500 thousnad people and up basically and I am afraid I will find it quite boring to live there. I once had to live in a small town for 6 months I found myself commuting home after work only to shower and change and head back out of town to the closest large citiy just so I wouldn't go stir crazy. Just so you know I consider Kitchener and Guelph to be small towns just to give you an idea.
