Hi everyone, I've had my camera for a few years (Sony Cybershot DSC-P92) and I've never really changed any of the settings. What is EV? Why would I need to change this? I also have several choices for Focus: Multi AF, Center AF, .5m, 1.0m, 3.0m, and 7.0m. :confused3

Any pointers? I'm trying to learn how to take better pics for our upcoming trip. Thanks!!

I think it's time to crack open the manual.

Multi AF is using multiple AF points and allowing the camera to choose what it thinks what you want to be in focus when you're taking a picture. I hate this feature (I don't understand why this feature is even available in pro cameras)

Single-point AF is using the right-in-the-middle AF point to focus. So if the object you want to be focused is off centre, you'll need to focus the camera to the subject, and without lifting your finger, reframe the composition then push the shutter all the way in.

.5m, 1m etc, I can only guess that the camera will only focus .5m, 1m etc from the film plane (or in the case of digicams, the digital sensor).

Thanks. I actually did read through the manual, but it wasn't much help. I was hoping maybe a real person explaining it would make it more understandable.

I have the same camera. I wish there was a class on these things. I know there are a million things we can do with this camera, but I just don't know how to use this stuff. I also have read the manual, I think I just need it to be shown to me... :confused3
