disboards banned (no 'real' reason given - IMO) in Springfield (illinois) public schools as of 5/2/06. I thought this was an interesting move. However, I could not find another disney website that was banned. Maybe they're just picking on us addicts.

That is strange....although I did hear a few weeks ago that a library had banned it also...

The school district in Edmonds, WA, has it banned on their server(?). I think it has to do with the word "boards" in the address. It bans all addresses with that word.
So it's nothing personal, just a blanket banning to keep the kids away from all boards.

Maybe its to keep the adults from planning their summer vacations on school time.

I can't think of anyone that would do this :rolleyes1
Several other message boards are still available - maybe it's because they are forums not boards???????

in the public shcools here in Adelaide all message boards are blocked by the net nanny software, regardles sof the content This is due to the fact that anyone can put anywords on some boards, and most search engines can't pick up board postss (or so i was told by a friend who is a education deopartment internet administrator here).

They are probably trying to block MySpace and it all falls under the same sort of boards. :surfweb:

they've blocked myspace, disboards, fantasysports websites, adult websites (obviously - although i haven't pushed my luck and tried to verify this), and .... well ebay still works (that would punish some of the higher ups though.

My school system recently blocked any website that gave access to a chat room or discussion board. We have teachers who have e-mail accounts with hotmail, yahoo, excite, etc who cannot access them from their school computer. My DH, who works for the state of TN, said that this was not uncommon in businesses. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to dream of Disney at work now..... :)
