MAY 2ND, TUESDAY (DAY 13)
Nothing exciting went on the next day.
We had a delicious complimentary breakfast at the Club Room and took it back to the room

I didn’t want to take a taxi to the airport, but it was too late to call the limo service, so we had no choice but to use the taxi service. At least it wasn’t a Mears taxi, and the guy was pretty nice. We got to the airport, and I asked if they had an exit row available and they did, WOOHOO! That would make the five hour flight sooooooo much more enjoyable.
Jim was sad to be leaving

I had never seen one of these before and thought it was kind of funny

We waited around the airport for a while. I got a frappucino from the starbucks using a really old starbucks gift certificate Jim had in his wallet since Christmas, which I couldn’t use before because I’d been on atkins for so long.

Our flight was uneventful. Since we were heading backwards in time by three hours it was much easier to transition.
We got in to the airport and Jim turned his cell phone on, and he had three messages from his friends telling him the new superman trailer was up. Great right when we can’t get to the internet :rotfl: Jim’s mother met us at the baggage claim, and she hands me my new Costco card. Not exactly what I was expecting, but thanks :rotfl:
Jim drove and traffic took FOREVER. I mean traffic in LA is always bad but it was worse then usual that day. On a good day, we can get from the airport to home in 45 minutes, but that day it took us an hour and forty five minutes, it really sucked.
http://static.flickr.com/14/89938307_684ed85c65.jpg
We got home and my dog did not seem happy to see me at all. He was mad at me. When I’m gone for a little while, he acts all excited like he hasn’t seen me in years, but when I leave for a long time he pretends like he doesn’t know who I am. Jerk.
http://static.flickr.com/49/174137149_1964681d41.jpg
I did some unpacking and some laundry and looked through the mail. I didn’t expect anything important to arrive, but I got something from the school I’ll be attending in the fall. I had known I was accepted to be a Teaching assistant in the Fall, but wasn’t expecting anything in the mail at all. Well I got a letter from them extending the invitation and telling me the tuition award and the stipend I would receive and all that, but then HOLY CRAP they have to receive the letter signed and returned by may 5th. Just great!! Well the Post offices were already closed, which meant I would have to go the next morning, on May 3rd and overnight it. Talk about cutting it close!! Thank goodness I had come home for that day, or I would have been royally screwed. We relaxed and chilled the rest of the day, nothing important or otherwise exciting happened.

Wednesday May 3rd, 2006
I told myself that I was STILL ON MY HONEYMOON today, I had to do some errands sure, but I was STILL ON MY HONEYMOON!! I thought we would sleep in really late since we had both been so exhausted the whole trip, but with the time difference I ended up waking up at 6 am and couldn’t fall back asleep. Just great. Jim woke up too so we decided to have breakfast and get some things done early in the day.
We went to a place called “coco’s” and had a really good strawberry waffle. The funny thing is, and we hadn’t realized this when heading there, we had been there EXACTLY a year ago at the same restaurant with Jim and his family, but I had started Atkins two days before. I remember because I knew I started on May first and that it was two days after I had started, and it was sooo hard for me to resist eating the French toast and waffles that everyone else around me was eating. Anyway it was just kind of funny. This time I ate whatever the heck I wanted to, I was still on my honeymoon!!!

Next stop was the post office where I paid thirty bucks to overnight the letter so that it would get there the next day. (It did thank goodness). Then we went to the mall for some reason, I can’t remember what.
On the way to the mall, Jim always takes a shortcut that takes him right past his old house where he and Chris grew up, in Sherman Oaks. To our shock and surprise his house was COMPLETELY GONE!!!! They tore it down and all that was there was flat land that they were bulldozing!!
Jim’s old house :(

It had been the most beautiful house and had a great big pool and hot tub and a big yard and was practically an oasis in the confined sufficating city that is the San Fernando Valley. He lived there for 17 years before they had to sell it about 5 years ago for financial reasons. Jim’s mother had sold it to someone for half of what she could have gotten for it because she wanted the house to stay a house and not get plowed down by land-hungry-LA-developers. Ugh. Jim was devastated. In the back of his mind he always dreamed about buying the house back again if we ever had enough money. It also had one of the biggest Oak Trees in the city – it was actually protected by the City. That was gone too. Of course when you’re a land developer all you have to do is give someone enough money and no one cares what tree you cut down. It sucked. We asked one of the guys working on it when they had torn it down, and he said a couple of weeks ago and told us they were building two houses on the lot. Just great. That’s what I hate about this city, no land for anyone, there is just not enough space to even breath here! Jim called his mom and brother to tell them about it. They were all pretty mad about it too.
We went to the mall, oh yeah, it was because I had to pay a payment on one of my credit cards. We got a cookie at Mrs. Fields while we were there just cuz we were both bummed out about the house being gone.
http://static.flickr.com/47/174143466_6a214ec282.jpg
After that, we went to Jim’s friend Larry’s store,, “Blast from the Past” (one of our wedding guests btw). I had never been in there it was cool! It was like walking into your childhood, it had all sorts of vintage collectibles. I saw an ewok and I remembered having one just like it when I was younger, so Larry gave it to me as a gift, and gave jim a Superman briefcase.. Aww thanks Larry! Jim talked to his friend for a while and then we went back home.

I don’t remember what else we did that day, other then Laundry and packing for the morning. I think we watched a movie but I don’t remember what. We went to bed really early since our flight was at like 6 am and we had to be at LAX by 4:30,, which meant leaving at like 4 am. I packed our stuff and packed REALLY LIGHTLY. We put all of our stuff, both mine and Jim’s, into one tiny, small, insignificant, rolly carry-on suitcase. It was sooooo much nicer then the 10 huge suitcases we had been traveling with in Orlando, and is much more my style!!

May 4th, (May the Fourth be with you Day), Thursday…
We got up extra early, showered and got dressed and Jim’s mother drove us to the airport extra early. We got there at 4 am. We were flying to San Francisco, and it was only a one hour and fifteen minute flight according to the itinerary. Sounded great.
We took some of Jim’s mothers “Ginger-roo” cookies to the airport with us. I grabbed a Caesar salad at starbucks to eat. We were both really tired, every part of me just wanted to lay down and fall back asleep.
Getting on board the airplane
http://static.flickr.com/49/166257319_e876887b50.jpg
We got on the airplane and there was practically no-one else on the flight, maybe 15 people, it was a really small airplane. Noone sat next to us or in any of the rows around us,, it was nice. I put my feet up on the seat next to me and took a really nice, very invigorating half an hour nap. We were up in the air and then we were descending. The whole flight was like 45 minutes, I couldn’t believe it. I have never been on a shorter flight. I wish all flights were that short!!
http://static.flickr.com/54/166257366_c8e31dc1a7.jpg
We got off the airplane and I could see mountains out of the window, oooo cool. I love mountains! I loved not having to wait for luggage since all we had was our one carry-on. We got off the plane and followed the signs to the BART, which was the subway system, I forget what the acronym stood for. It was much cheaper then taking a taxi, like 4 dollars each compared to the 40 bucks for a taxi.. We got our tickets and got on board around 7:10 am.
Mountains, Gandalf, mountains!

It was about a half an hour till we got to our stop at the el embarcadero street (I think that was the name). From there to our hotel, a taxi was only five dollars, so we had saved a lot of money by taking the subway system.

We were staying at a really cheap budget hotel by the Wharf. We were on a pretty tight budget for this trip, and it didn’t really matter to me what hotel we were at, as long as it was clean and had a good location.
Our beautiful hotel
http://static.flickr.com/59/166257826_73f0b40fcf.jpg
We went, checked in, and left our suitcase with the front desk clerk. Our hotel was really close to the wharf and pier 39, some of the main tourist attractions in San Francisco, so it took us just like two minutes to get to the dock where we could buy tickets to Alcatraz… It was 8:30 am when we got there, so we bought our tickets for the 9:45 boat without any problems. I stopped at an electronics store along the way because I had run out of DV tapes for my camcorder. I bought one five dollar DV tape, and the guy was trying to tell me how I needed a cover for my camera. I was like “I have a cover”.. “no you should use this one… how about a macro lens, or a wide angle?” I was like “just the dv tape, thank you!!” (if you ever go into ANY electronic store by a tourist area don’t buy anything other then what you intended to buy, those places are such rip offs!)
http://static.flickr.com/67/166257877_4f1e67c3d9.jpg
well our hotel may not be that great, but we turn left and there’s the ocean and one block away is pier 39 and the wharf in either direction

There was nothing really open that early in the morning so we decided to go have breakfast at the IHOP across the street.
http://static.flickr.com/46/166258153_f01f1ea142.jpg
I had a standard American breakfast along with a small plate of banana stuffed French toast, which was pretty good. We read through my “Eyewitness Travel – California” guide book to see what we wanted to do in San Francisco and read up a little on Alcatraz.
At the table at ihop was an advertisement for ihop gift certificates and it said things like “the perfect gift for mother’s day, birthdays, or any special occasion!” I said to Jim “jim if you get me an ihop gift certificate for my birthday I would be pretty upset”

It was about 9:30 so we went to the pier and lined up for the boat to take us to Alcatraz. The line was really long, I didn’t realize what a popular tourist destination it was. We got on our boat with no problems though and sat outside. It was a really really short boat ride, maybe ten minutes or so. We could see the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance, ooo cool. That was the first time I’d seen the bridge!

We landed by a building with the words “Indians welcome” written on graffiti. I remembered seeing something on a tv special about Alcatraz that talked about how a group of native Americans took over the island and kept it for a number of years for some reason.

We got off the boat and there was a loud guy telling everyone where they could go or what tours they could go on and gave some information about things like some of the movies they had filmed here, including “The Rock”. He mentioned how in order to use the location in the film, at one point in the film they had to mention that it was now a state park or something, so at one point Sean Connery says “you know… this is now a state park” (or something like that, I forget exactly).
We went up the hill a little and stopped at one of the visitors center and Jim wanted to watch the 10 minute documentary they had playing. I thought it was cute that Jim seemed to be getting into it and seemed really interested. (anytime jim shows enthusiasm for anything that’s not a movie, it makes me happy)

After the movie, we walked up the steep steep hill and then up another steep hill and got to the old jailhouse. We purchased the self guided audio walking tour and followed along. It was a really good audio tour. I wouldn’t have known what the heck I was looking at without it, so it was worth the five bucks or whatever it was. We went around and learned about the history of the place, what life was like in Alcatraz, failed escaped attempts and the one possible escape, the shoot-out at the cellhouse, famous inmates, and what it was like in solitary confinement, etc… We explored the jailhouse for about an hour, altogether. It was pretty interesting.

It was about 12:30 when we were back on the mainland. Jim saw one of those self-cleaning pay toilets he had heard about and decided to give it a try. It costs a quarter, and I guess the room completely hoses itself down after each use, or something. Weird.

Jim and I decided to head to the Fisherman’s Wharf to walk around and explore a bit.
We walked towards the Wharf and saw plenty of tourist attractions along the way that we decided to skip, such as a wax museum and a Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum, and a Rainforest café, etc.

We were walking along the dock, and I stopped to look at some sea-lions that were playing in the ocean by the boats and was getting my camera out when a guy to the left of me seemingly jumped out of a bush and literally ROAR’ED at me.. well my brain processed it all, but it was so unexpected that I screamed and jumped, and then I hear a bunch of people laughing (including Jim)….
Ahhh entertaining homeless people are so strange… This guy had a bunch of branches in front of him and was sitting on a bucket waiting for tourists to walk by so he could “jump out” at them and startle them. It gave everyone a good scare and made a lot of the people laugh. I thought it was weird, but I have to admit it was kind of funny to watch people’s reactions.

There wasn’t really anything to do at the Fisherman’s Wharf other then eat seafood and shop for tacky souvenirs. It was about 1 pm by now. It was lunch time so we were a little hungry and thought we would grab a bowl of clam chowder in a sour dough breadbowl at the Boudin Bakery we had seen nearby.
I didn’t know until reading in my guide book, that sour-dough bread is a San Francisco invention, along with Fortune cookies.
The bakery was cute, it smelled of sour-dough and had baskets of bread going around the room on their tracks.

At about 5 o’clock we both felt refreshed and re-energized so we headed back out to explore “Pier 39”. Along the way I stopped to buy another jacket, I was cooooold. I bought a really arm jacket for only 12 bucks, I was happy! They had some break-dancers and other street entertainers along the way.

There was a bunch of tourist attractions at the wharf, but nothing really that they don’t have near us in LA like at the santa monica pier, so we didn’t really want to do anything. They had some virtual reality things and a carousel, etc. Well, I did want to watch the Sea-lions at least, so we headed over there.

They had some seats available for just sitting and watching the sea-lions, so we sat and chilled for a while and talked about what was going on with the sea-lions, and named some of them, and watched one sea-lion kick off another sea-lion off of the dock, so we had a whole back-story as to what had happened between their friendship and what was going on with them.

After about twenty minutes sitting there, Jim said something like “have you ever had a seagull crap on you, isnt’ that the worst feeling in the world, you just want to go home…” I was like “yeah I know..” .. well, I kid you not, this is no exaggeration or anything, thirty seconds after he said that, a seagull crapped right on his hat and shoulder. I could NOT stop laughing. It was disgusting but sooo funny. It’s like the bird heard him.
So we walked back to the hotel which was luckily five minutes away. I kept trying to maintain my distance from Jim because it was really disgusting, but he kept getting uncomfortably close to me just to annoy me.
We got back to the hotel, washed off jim’s shirt and hat as best as we could and left them there to dry.
We went out a little while later, around 6 or so, and got some food from subway for dinner. Jim said he wasn’t feeling well. I figured he was just tired. There was a lot I would have liked to have done, but I didn’t want to push him and make him even sicker the next day, so we just stayed in our hotel room and watched TV. For some reason we watched “the school of Rock” because it was the only thing on tv. The bed in our hotel room was extremely uncomfortable,, but you get what you pay for.
We went to bed really early so we could wake up early and head to China Town. Our plan for the day was to ride the Trolley to China Town, explore the place.. then head to the car rental place to get our convertible we were renting and were going to drive over the golden gate bridge with..
I'm not sure if I'll post anymore tonite.. I have it all written just need to plug in a few more picture links.. not sure if anyone is still reading, but I figured I would finish up my complete honeymoon for posterity sake and a sense of closure! :) So if anyone is still reading... there's a little bit more to come, and I'll post it either today or tomorrow. Hope I haven't bored anyone with the mundaneness of life outside of theme parks!
Coming up: Trolleys, china town, killer hills, convertibles and bridges... napa valley and my "wine tasting" and more.. Then the honeymoon will be over :( :( :(

I think it is soooooo funny that your hotel at Universal has a scale in it. Who wants to see how much weight they put on vacation?!?!?

Ok, I mentioned in your other thread that my DF is a big Marvel fan. So I asked him about "Murdock & Nelson - Attorneys At Law". Without a moment's hesitation he said: Daredevil (and continued on to tell me all about it... at which time I tuned out! :rotfl: )
I'm still here and really enjoying your TR. I can't wait to hear about what the two of you did for your birthday!!
What am I going to do once you're done?!? (You will have to write a TR about your move cross country!! :thumbsup2 )

NOOOOO - don't tell me it's almost over - I'm devestated!
My dh is a comic book hero fan too - his favorite is Captain America - he has every tshirt, book, etc. at Universal. He even has Captain America Breathmints! He got is picture taken with CA last time and was very happy.
Also, thanks for including the SF portion as I'm going there for the first time in November (my first trip to California - yeah!). Would you recommend where you stayed? Do you mind me asking how much it was? We're spending 2 weeks in California and SF is our last stop so I'm sure we'll be counting pennies by then!

I'm still here and still lovin' it!
The SF portion is really crackin' me up (I grew up in the Bay Area). Yep, Fisherman's Wharf isn't all it's cracked up to be...and "homeless theatre" is always a treat! :rotfl:
I have to say I have NO IDEA what I'm going to do with my time once you are done! I may actually have to WORK at work...bummer.

Of course I'm still here! Another great addition to your TR. I've read other TR's where I skim the parts on Universal, but yours had me reading every word, like always! Your trip reports ALWAYS make me hungry, too! LOL....Great photos. Got to get me some waffles and frech toast soon!!

Mary--I'm so sad that it's almost over! :( But I think it's fun that you rode the Spiderman ride so much...I went to IOA for the first time in 2002 and rode the Spiderman ride about a dozen times...mostly because my friends and I had gotten so wet on the Dudley Do-Right ride that we needed a warm and dry place to dry off (we liked the fireball on the ride a whole lot, as it was freezing out that day!) But I digress....your wedding pictures are absolutely beautiful--your photographer was amazing! You all look like you had such a wonderful time! Anyways.....although I will be sad when you finish it all up, I've had a wonderful time enjoying your trip report! Thanks so much for sharing it!

kaw1218 - thank you for sticking around! :goodvibes
karentan - I thought about editing that part out, but then it wouldn't have been authentic :rotfl:
rxlowry - glad you found your way over here, thanks for reading! Love that food porn thread! :cloud9:
BeckWhy - I know! :rotfl: Though I did use the scale to weigh our luggage to make sure we weren't over capacity!
starseed - Awesomel! I will have to paypal your DF a dime now! :rotfl: I tune my DH out when he starts talking about comics a lot of the times too! I probably will write a trip report about our cross country move or something, I am going to be goign through writing withdrawals if I don't keep it up, seriously! I don't know what's wrong with me, I even wrote a Trip Report for the superman returns movie premiere we went to the other day (my husband wanted me to so he could post it on another messageboard).. god help me or i'm going to Trip report my life away!!
RadioFanatic - That's awesome that your DH is into comics too! I hope you guys have a great time in California! I don't know if I'd recommend where I stayed, I don't know what the other hotels are like. I liked the location and the price was relatively cheap for that location - it had an internet special of around 115 a night (the other places were over 150 or so). The bed was really uncomfortable though. But it was clean and really close to everything! Have a great time in Cali!
Angel*lady and Heatherlynn - glad you both are still reading! :goodvibes
Itgirl753 - thank you so much!! My major is Biology and i'll be heading to Western Michigan University to see if I can earn my ph.d if I dont' spend all my time reading the DIS boards instead of studying :rotfl:
martymoose - "homeless theatre" - i had never heard that expression that is pretty funny! That describes Los Angeles pretty well, too. We go down to hollywood theatre and it is such a spectacle sometimes. Especially the ones that try to dress as movie characters to get tourist tips. Very odd people, some of them. Thanks for the acronym help, i knew "rapid transit" was in there somewhere didn't know the rest though!
JJClemson - yep the pineapple quesadillas were TDF! and yep that's a mickey dog pull - we bought it for him in downtown Disney, but he doesn't like it very much!
wasabigirl - thank you so much! Like I mentioned to starseed, I'm starting to get really into writing about my life, it is kind of fun! So who knows maybe I will start a blog!
AnimalPrincess - thank you so much, I'm glad you are enjoying the TR and thank you for posting! That's funny that "the bush man" is locally famous, we have a few characters like that down at hollywood boulevard as well, like i was mentioning.. my favorite here is the guy who dresses as superman, looks just like him,. he was even on the Daily Show once a few months ago! Anyway San Francisco was a beautiful city, i can see why you miss it.. though I don't know how you dealt with all those hills!!!
.......
What's with the backwards S on Jim's Superman shirt? Is it so that he can be Superman when he looks in the mirror??? lol .......
Thank you again, as usual I love reading your comments! You're very observant, I forgot to mention that Jim's "Superman" shirt is actually a "Bizarro" shirt, which is an odd character from the comic books who's like the opposite in everything superman does.. But that's funny about the mirror thing, because that's exactly what Jim tells everybody!! :rotfl:
I finished the picture links for the next day in San Fransisco, and will post it shortly. I haven't finished the picture links for our last day though, so I will do that tomorrow hopefully.. :)

MAY 5TH,, FRIDAY, DAY 16
We woke up pretty early this morning and headed to IHOP again for breakfast. I used the five dollar gift certificate Jim had given me yesterday and they gave us a strange look LOL. I think we were the first people to ever buy a ihop gift certificate and to use an ihop gift certificate at that location.
Jim eating some French toast
http://static.flickr.com/77/166262437_29097bad9c.jpg
It was friggin COOOOOOOOOLD that morning!! I stopped at one of the souvenir shops along the way for a hat. I could only find a ugly beanie hat, but I didn’t care, my ears were cold,, it was windy. Warmth over fashion!!
We headed towards the Trolley turntable, but I had to use the bathroom along the way. We stopped in a place called “The Cannery” which was also a tourist destination, but it wasn’t completely open. It was kind of an open-aired mall, so finally I found a bathroom on the second floor and then we headed out again.
The cannery

http://static.flickr.com/61/166262626_59452708aa.jpg
Along the way, there was a tourist stand for “Bike Tours across the Golden Gate Bridge” and the guy standing outside of it was trying to sell us on it.. I said to him “that’s funny that you think we’re in that good of shape..really that’s sweet”..
We got to the Trolley turntable and bought our 10 dollar one way ticket. We were going to take the Trolley to Chinatown! Jim had asked why we didn’t walk to china Town and I was like “I don’t want to walk up that hill!” (this comes into play a little later..)
One of the Trolley’s came and the 2 porters manually pushed it around the turntable, it was kind of neat. These Trolley’s still work off of mechanical energy and have to be operated in the same way they were however many decades ago when they were first put into use.

http://static.flickr.com/75/166262729_b81cb4e7e1.jpg
We got on the Trolley and took some seats. Some people came up and stood on the sides and the lady was telling her friends “stand in front up there, it’s the best way to ride so you can really see those hills!” I didn’t know that, it made me wish I had taken that “seat”, although I would have been by myself while Jim was seating, he’s far too afraid of heights to do anything like that. I got in a discussion with the girl standing in front of me, who was really nice and had an accent that sounded like she was from Minnesota or Wisconsin maybe. She said that her friend that was showing them around was one of the longest surviving heart transplant patients and had to come to San Francisco periodically to go to Berkeley for check-ups.
http://static.flickr.com/62/166262862_ccbe2044ea.jpg
We rode up the hill and down the hills in the Trolley, and the trolley does indeed go “clang clang”. It was a fun ride! We got off when the porter announced “China Town”.

I had printed out and studied a “walking tour” of China Town from Frommers.com so I knew I wanted to start on the corner of Bush and Grant (I think that’s what it was). So we should have gotten off on the next exit actually, since the trolley dropped us off at the back entrance to china town. Well it was a scenic route anyway so we walked the few blocks completely up-hill and got to the entrance to China Town.

http://static.flickr.com/78/166263422_e4a3cdb325.jpg
We followed along the walking tour, skipping the things that didn’t seem that interesting to us..
I’ve been to quite a few China Towns all over the world, so none of the merchandise particularly holds any appeal for me. But I do find the history of the place interesting. The thing that was really cool about this china town, in my opinion, was the residents walking around speaking Chinese to each other and just going about their daily lives. You could tell it was a truly authentic China Town. We looked around some of the shops that seemed different or interesting.

We went into one of the kite shops, it was really cool, it had kites EVERYWHERE. And then, this cracks me up.. these two twenty-something girls came into the shop, and one of them asks an employee there “do you guys sell kites?” the guy just laughed in her face, I didn’t blame him, it was so funny. The kites where EVERYWHERE and she was completely serious.
No kites here

We stopped at a few other places that the walking tour said to visit, although a few of the places we couldn’t find. The tourguide said to stop at “House of Dim Sum” for a good authentic, cheap meal.
http://static.flickr.com/69/166264174_a9e9ccda42.jpg
http://static.flickr.com/54/166264236_872972cfec.jpg
We found it on one of the back alleys and the lady gave us a order sheet to fill out. I had never been there before, so it would say the name of the type of Dim Sum and then you would mark how many you wanted. Well I was thinking how many pieces you wanted, so I would right down “2” here or “4” there, but it turned out that each ORDER had like four pieces per order… so when we found that out we changed some of our answers lol..
It was a really cheap meal though! We tried a variety of different dim sums, including chive and onion dim sum, shrimp dim sum, and pork dim sum, along with a turnip cake, and a sweet rice cake. For all that and a coke and water, it came out to like 9 dollars or something. Really cheap!
Some of the dim sums were good, the pork was kind of gross. It was good but I hoped we didn’t’ get sick from the food or anything (we didn’t). It was about 11:15 or so

We looked around some more,, saw some funny knock-offs for sale, and then sought out the Fortune Cookie company.
http://static.flickr.com/49/166264655_184c6d48f3.jpg
It was in one of the back alleys, and there was an old Chinese man playing the violin, it was a pretty cool atmosphere. The fortune cookie factory was just a hole-in-the-wall place, it was really small and easy to miss. The book had said if we brought our own pieces of paper with fortunes written up we could make our own fortune cookies. We had thought about doing it but decided not to, but I think that would be a cute idea for a wedding favor had we thought of it beforehand!! We went in and the lady gave us a sample of fortune cookie. It tasted very fresh and not as stale as the ones you usually eat. We saw a bag of “Adult fortune cookies – NOT FOR CHILDREN!!!” and thought it might be funny so we bought the bag for two dollars or something.

We went out in the alley and opened one of them up. The fortunes were SO STUPID. Me and jim were like “what the heck?” some of the fortunes were… “Wing Lu Yu says: Farmer who can’t keep hands off his wife better fire them”….. or “Wing Lu Yu says: alimony is like putting gasoline into another man’s car” “wild Indian who not know one end from another end up with a weird collection of scalps”.

We were done with China Town and headed back to the hotel. After freshening up at the hotel we thought we would walk to the car rental place, which mapquest had told me was one mile from the hotel.
Okay here’s where Mary was really stupid! We walked ALLL the way down the huge hill back to our hotel… it took about a half an hour,, no big deal, we thought it would be fun.
A weird street name
http://static.flickr.com/66/166264707_782dd2f784.jpg
We got to our hotel, and I was supposed to pick the car up at 2 pm about, so we relaxed for a while. I called the car company to make sure they had the car and to get their exact location. And then we started walking back towards the car company
Well silly me, I didn’t realize the car rental company was about 15 minutes PAST china town. So we ended up walking UP the steepest, tallest hill in North America and back down it. So much for mapquest.. maybe it was one mile as the crow flies, not counting the fact that you have to climb up into the stratosphere and then back down. Those hills were steep, I don’t know how people walk up and down them every day who live here! I started to pretend like I was pulling an “invisible rope” to climb up the hill. Going down hill was even harder because it felt like you were going to fall face forward and roll down the hill!
A cute san Franciscan street

and down the hill
http://static.flickr.com/58/166265086_8b60c8b341.jpg
It was so absurd that we just kept laughing at the absuridity of the situation. I had taken the trolley that morning to China Town saying “you’d have to be crazy to walk up that hill!” and we ended up walking down it and back up again. If we had stayed in China Town we would have been like five minutes away from the car rental place. I just thought it was really funny, so much for being the master planner!
We got to the car rental place and the lady asked Jim where he was from and said “LA? You must be a dodger fan…” and for the rest of the time we were there pretended to hate Jim because he was a “dodger fan”. They didn’t have the mustang convertible we requested, but they did have a sebring, so that was fine. We put the top down and drove out into San Francisco traffic. It was trafficy but it wasn’t that bad. It took us about a half an hour to find and get to the Golden Gate Bridge.

We drove over the Golden Gate Bridge, it was kind of cool! I had fun. On the north side of the bridge it was very pretty scenery. There was the fishing town of Sausalito. We were going to drive to Point Reyes lighthouse, I think it was. We got off at the exit for it, and were driving around the Cliffside. Jim started to get a little freaked out because of his fear of heights. After about 20 minutes, we weren’t there yet, and Jim wanted to turn around, so I said okay. Oh well, another day maybe.

I wanted to stop at the Presidio for some photos, but we couldn’t find the exit from that side of the highway and ended up taking a half an hour accidental detour to the san Francisco recreational area. There was absolutely no place to turn around! Finally we headed back and were at the Presidio and stopped for 15 minutes to take some pictures.

I say to Jim "did you get the bridge in the picture?" so he took this one. After our infamous "picture in front of the statue of liberty.. seriously we were in front of the statue of liberty in that picture!" picture, I make sure to always ASK that the person got the famous landmark that I am currently standing in front of is IN the picture!!

here’s the aforementioned picture of me and Jim in front of the statue of liberty… If someone asks you to take their picture in front of a famous landmark… isn’t it usually a good idea to get the famous landmark IN the picture? :rotfl:

We got back in the car and I wasn’t sure which way to go. We ended up driving all around through the Presidio having no idea where we were going. It was pretty scenery anyway so it was no big deal. Finally somehow, we accidentally got back on the right path. It was kind of scary to drive up the hills. We’d see a car in front of us go UP the hill, and then they’d go down the other side and it was like they fell off the face of the earth. It was kind of funny. I can see why they have so many car chase movie scenes in this city.

We got back on the 101 and headed towards “Lombard street – the worlds’ most crookedest street” , which you have to take at like five miles per hour and make some really tight curves around. It was cute.

We headed back to the hotel and relaxed for a while.
Later in the night when we got hungry we decided to head to Pier 39 to find a place to eat. Jim was thinking about eating at “Hard Rock Café” again, since there was one right there, didn’t sound like a bad idea to me! I had a coupon at the hotel that said “eat at the Hard Rock and ask about a free gift with this coupon!” so I thought I’d give it a try if we ate there.
We walked to the Hard Rock Café and were seated right away. We ordered almost the exact same thing,, nachos for appetizer, and pineapple quesadillas for me and twisted mac and cheese for Jim. No dessert though. The quesadillas were a little spicier then they had been the other day, but still very good! Jim wasn’t very hungry so he got a box for most of his meal.

At the gift shop I showed them the coupon and the guy told me he’d hook me up, and gave me my very own hard rock café pin lanyard with starter pin.. just what I always wanted!

On the way back to the hotel we saw a big group of people dancing and singing some spiritual sounding music, I asked jim if it was a religious group or something, and he said they were hippies and that was a famous hippie song. I guess I don’t know my Hippie pop culture enough. It was kind of interesting to watch.
http://static.flickr.com/46/166267794_6a62b6766d.jpg
On the way past some pan-handlers, Jim saw one of the guys just staring at his food, he didn’t say anything but was just eyeing it, so Jim asked if he wanted it, and the guy seemed soooooo appreciative and happy. When we left, we looked back and the guy was sharing it with his friends and they were just devouring it. I felt bad for them.
We got back to the hotel, relaxed, and watched some tv. I prepared the itinerary for the next day.
We were going to head out early and drive to Napa Valley and spend the day exploring there. Our flight was 6 pm so we didn’t have to be back in the city until around 4 or so. If we left early we would have plenty of time to explore. Well we had cancelled the hot air balloon ride, but driving around in the convertible sounded like fun to me, so I was excited!

May 6th (my birthday), Saturday, DAY 17 – the LAST DAY OF OUR HONEYMOON :(
Well it was the last day of the honeymoon, but I was looking forward to the day!!
We got dressed and packed up our ONE suitcase and went to check-out. I had all my maps with me and guide book. We got some breakfast at the 7-11 across the street (a very healthy donut and bagel breakfast) and sat in the car, ate the breakfast, and I looked over the map to make sure I knew where the heck we were going. It seemed pretty easy, and I had printed out the mapquest directions from the hotel, so there were no problems.
We left around 8 am and headed north past Berkley and into Napa. It was about an hour drive North. We stopped at a grocery store along the way for some “road trip snacks” and continued into the napa valley.

I didn’t really know what our plan was. Neither Jim or I drink or like or know anything about wine, but I thought it would be pretty and thought there might be some things to do along the way, like my guide book had mentioned. Just figured we’d play it by ear.
We start to see some vineyards along the way

From the south point to the north point of the valley you can basically drive through it in less then a half an hour. The morning started out kind of cold but it warmed up as the day went on.

We looked at the vineyards and saw some wineries and thought about stopping. I had heard there was a Francis Ford Coppola owned winery and so we tried to find that, but I think he actually sold it recently and we couldn’t find it. We drove through the valley and then took a road over to the Silverado Trail which is like a backroad to the valley which is also supposed to have some great views.

We enjoyed our ride and enjoyed the views. We took the road back over to the main road and decided to stop at the Mondavi Winery, which was supposed to be very pretty.
We looked around and walked around. We stopped in the gift shop, I was thinking of buying some wine for some people back home but I hadn’t the faintest idea what was good wine and what wasn’t. I saw some chocolate truffles filled with wine, sounded good to me! Jim bought them for me and we left. I ate them in the car as we drove some more and they actually did make me a little tipsy, so there was my wine tasting! :rotfl:

Not really knowing what else we wanted to do in the Napa Valley, we decided to head over to Sonoma and see if we could get to Jack London State Historic Park. “The Call of the Wild” was one of my favorite books and I’ve read it like a dozen times, so I was kind of interested to see what was there, and we still had plenty of time to kill.
It took about 45 minutes to get there from Napa,, and we got there almost at noon. We needed to head back to San Francisco by around 1:30 or so, so we didn’t have a lot of time.
I actually thought parts of Sonoma were much prettier then the napa valley

We went into the visitor center and looked around at the exhibits of Jack London’s life and adventures and books. I thought it was pretty interesting actually. The visitor center was the house that he lived in with his wife for a number of years, so we looked around at his house. There was a guy playing the piano there for some reason, probably for fun.

This house was just a place Jack London was staying until his dream house “The Wolf House” was finished being built, which was about a mile away on the property. It was almost near completion but then it mysteriously burnt down before anyone lived in it.
We decided to walk the trail to his gravesite and see the remains of the Wolf House.
It was a nice walk along the way, beautiful trails with babbling brooks and vineyards here and there. We saw the Wolf House and looked around, and then went to his grave site. And then we really had absolutely no time left and had to hurry back to the car to get to the airport.

We got to the airport and dropped off the rental car, and since they said it was an hour late, they charged me an extra 50 bucks or something. I was livid. My reservation sheet said I could drop it off at 4, and I dropped it off at 4! They told me where to go to dispute it, so we went up to the main office and I got in line and was telling Jim all the things I was going to say and how pissed off I was…. I got up there, I had the printed out reservation sheet that said I could drop it off at 4, and explained the situation to her, and I was all prepared for an argument, which I was determined to win, and the lady said “okay that’s no problem, give me one second and I’ll refund that for you”… “ohh…okay… thanks!” Well I like it when things work out that easily :rotfl:
I had been in the convertible ALL DAY without wearing a hat. I had only put a little sun screen on. Now that we were in the airport I was feeling absolutely RADIOACTIVE. I was SUNBURNED!! I looked like a red hot chili pepper. Thank goodness it was the last day of the honeymoon when I burned, and not before the wedding or something, I looked awful. I was feeling awful from the sunburn. It worked out kind of well though, since it made me feel glad that we were heading home and not that sad. It took me a week before I went back to looking somewhat “normal”.
The flight was really short and uneventful. We landed and went home, and Jim’s mother made me a pecan and apple pie for my birthday,, it was delicious!
Hmm. I guess that’s it. The honeymoon was officially over at that point. But it had been 17 WONDERFUL days of fun and romance, and I couldn’t have asked for more!!
One year of planning, one year of saving money, and it was over. But wait... at least we had our at-home reception in a few weeks... that was something.. .right? Hey.. I need something to look forward to!

I spent the next few weeks trying to get back to reality, but let me tell you, it is hard. No matter where I was or what I was doing, my mind still felt like it was on the honeymoon. Jim and I still felt like “newlyweds” for quite a while.
Chris moved back home, he had been living in Texas with his Dad.. he came with a new addition to the family.. a dinosaur… well, actually, a Great Dane named Diego.. but he’s about the size of a Dinosaur (but wampa loves him)..
On May 20th, we prepared for our “At-home” reception for people in California who couldn’t make it to the wedding (there were a lot of people who couldn’t make it to the wedding). Jim had invited people he hadn’t seen in years so he was really excited.
Jim’s Aunt came down from Seattle, who hasn’t been to California in over 10 years, and her and her friend helped us set up, decorate, and prepare for the event. We were holding it in our house in Van Nuys.
I was in charge of decorating. I figured I would steal all my ideas from our original reception at Ariel’s. I went to Michael’s and bought a bunch of cheap glass bowl-shaped vases.. bought some blue iridescent sea-glass, and went to a florist and bought some white Lillies that were in bloom. I put the sea glass on the bottom of the vases, filled it half with water, and put some Lillies to float on the top.
We practically plastered the house with photographs of our wedding. We had the five minute video edit that Stan had provided us with, and we had them playing on a loop on the tv’s. Jim’s friend had gotten us a really nice gift of a digital photo frame, which displayed our wedding photographs beautifully. I also put the pictures on a slideshow on my laptop and played it continuously. We got some balloons and put them outside by the driveway entrance, along with a sign saying “Just Married”..
Sue ordered a beautiful, delicious cake.. one layer was whipped pineapple.. the other German Chocolate.. we ordered some “el pollo loco” chicken, made pot roasts, along with a bunch of other kinds of foods. I ate a LOT at our party.
I met a lot of people from Jim’s life that I never had the chance to meet before, so it was a lot of fun. I was excited at the opportunity to meet Jim’s GodFather, G.W. Bailey… I had loved him in the police academy movies growing up so I thought that was cool! I also met jim’s old Scout leader and a bunch of friends from Jim’s childhood. We had a really good time.
Here are some photos:
The cake table. I didn't like how it looked against just a plain white wall so I went out and bought the blue fabric to add a splash of color to the backdrop

I have no idea waht I'm going to do now that I have no more trip report to write!! I had so much fun writing that trip report... It felt like..as long as I was still writing it, it wasn't over yet!! It was like I was reliving it as I was writing it.
To everyone who read it and to everyone who commented along the way THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Your kind words and compliments meant more to me then you know!! Thank you for allowing me to share my wedding and honeymoon with you all :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes I'm so happy that I could share my wonderful wedding day and honeymoon with others. It trully was the most magical experience of my life. I don't regret any of it. I wouldn't change any of it.
If any of you want to keep up to date with future activities Jim and I may be up to, we have a picture website here:

Who knows.. maybe I will start a blog one of these days! I did write another Trip Report that Jim requested I write for another website, about going to the Superman Returns premiere the other day, which was sooo much fun... if you're bored you can find it here:
http://bluetights.net/theplanet/showthread.php?t=15091
The name of this thread "Dreams do come true" is a line from Julie Andrews at the end of the "Wishes" firework spectacle here in Disneyland (not 100% sure if it's in the WDW one) ... at the end, she says "and remember... dreams DO come true..."
I never thought I would find someone who makes me as happy as my husband makes me, and I never thought I would be getting married in EPCOT and having a magical honeymoon in Walt Disney World. It was always my dream, but I never thought it would actually happen. How many times do the things we wish for actually come true? It is so rare, and to have had my dream wedding and honeymoon.. well.... it really WAS a dream come true :cloud9:

Mary! I am sad your report is over but it was a wonderful read, like many people on these boards I feel like I know you and Jim personally now. It is always good to see two people who have found each other in this crazy world and made each other so happy. Ya got me a little choked up at the end there. Bravo! :thanks:

I'm so sad the report is over - I absolutely loved it - are you sure you can't do a report about your big move?
My dh and I can't wait to see the superman movie - we're going to his hometown though b/c they have an IMAX theatre so I can't wait to see it bigger than life and in 3D. I already read the book and loved the story so we're excited.

okay, now I just read the superman report and am SOOOO jealous - that sounds absolutely amazing - how in the world did you get tix to that? I forwarded the link to my dh, I know he is going to be green!
In reading the book, I know the ending and boy, did it absolutely shock me - I really didn't expect that!
And I'm a huge fan of Lois and Clark too - I also saw every episode. LOVED IT! Are you sure we aren't related in another life?

So in our newspaper this weekend, there was an entire article dedicated to this woman who started off writing blogs of her daily life and is now doing book tours of her biography (she's only famous for blogging; nothing else). And so I thought, "You know who should do that? Mary!" You already have lots of fans here! If you ever decide to blog regularly, please please PLEASE let us know!
In other news, I loved your Universal report. My bf works there (he's the sound tech at Marvel) so I looked for him in the background of your Wolverine and Storm pictures. Alas, I didn't see him. That would've been so cool! Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to entertain us all! :hugs: Good luck on your move!

I LOVE that pic. and the other one, that to me struck me as "there is their 'official wedding pic" is the close up of the two of you on the bridge, just leaning and smiling. So natural, not posed...and real life is natural. Its a gorgeous photo, just stunning. ok now that i said that i can go back and read more about the report!

Sorry, sidetracked....OH yesterday I was at Target looking at Northern Exposure DVD's and said to my DF..."Look hun, there's Jim's Dad!!" Like I actually know y'all...of course DF says to me "Who's Jim?" all suspicious like... :rotfl: Y'know Jim..and Mary...? and his response was "If you are STILL talking about those people from the internet I am taking you to therapy RIGHT NOW!" :lmao: He SO doesn't get the DIS!!! I was so nervous about my wedding b/c I could not picture what it would be like. Now whenever I think of Disney weddings, I always picture you and Jim. I hope my wedding and disneymoon is just as wonderful as yours. You and Jim seem like such a fun, sweet couple. I feel like I know you both. I wish I did not live so far away from you! I wish you two all the happiness in the world :)
Thank you so so so much for sharing your wonderful story. Just make sure you don't forget about us here, b/c I will definitely be needing your advice throughout the next year ;)

Thank you so much for writing and please go to WDW again soon so you can write about it again. :thumbsup2 I'm so happy for you that you're dreams came true. Thank you for reading the TR, not sure if I have any more Trip Reports in me for a while, truth be told! But I’m glad you enjoyed the TR! :goodvibes I haven’t seen the 3-d version yet.. we had bought our tickets for Wednesday but Jim and I were both soooooo dead tired that day that we ended up not going. Hopefully we will catch it tomorrow!

Thank you so much, Jackie!! :goodvibes I have enjoyed talking to you and am so glad you enjoyed the TR. I hope you are having a wonderful time in WDW right now and are having a great birthday.. Hopefully we will talk again soon!!

How did you guys enjoy the movie? I didn’t read the book but Jim told me that they kept the big surprises out of it so the ending was pretty different in the movie.. not sure if that’ s true or not though. Getting the tickets to the premiere was a combination of luck and determination, and having the right phone numbers to call, I was so surprised when it worked out! Looking forward to hearing your opinion of the movie!
Thanks Mary for your wonderful TR. I have spent 3-4 days at work reading and enjoying it. I am 337 days from my DH and my vow renewal. I am an ultra planner and it is so much fun to plan. We are going on a cruise and then to Disney afterwards. I am a Disney nut, we are going to wear matching Disney attire for our ceremony and it will only be the two of us.
I have really enjoyed all the pictures and disciptions of your days leading to, day of and honeymoon. I am sad that it is over. I did notice that you mentioned eating bread again, and other comments about diet. Did you go on Atkins a year before your wedding/honeymoon? I am trying to motivate myself into weightloss before as well, and am still looking for the plan that would work for me.
Again thanks for your TR and I hope you and Jim have many years of happiness!!
Those 337 days are going to fly by!! The cruise sounds like fun, I really wished we could have gone on the Disney cruise at the end of our honeymoon, but the timing just wasn’t right. I hope you guys have a great time! I did go on Atkins a year before my wedding.. I started May 1st and stayed on the induction phase until February, when I started down the ongoing-weight-loss phases (which didn’t work for me nearly as well as induction had..) I had lost 80 pounds from May to February, but then gained back about 8 and the two months before my wedding was just trying really hard to maintain. I am back on it now, and I really love the plan, I think it is so easy to incorporate into your everyday life and I never feel deprived or starving like I do on the low-cal diets, so I definitely recommend it, but only to people who are willing to learn about it and “do it right”.. I know so many people who think they are doing atkins but are doing it completely wrong, and then they get mad when it doesn’t work… so I tell them to read the book before they start! Anyway, didn’t mean to get on a soap-box just letting you know my opinion of it, since it’s something I struggle with throughout my life. Goodluck and have fun planning your wedding. I’m glad you enjoyed the TR! :goodvibes
Excellent, Thankyou for taking the time to share it with everyone

yeah it’s definitely not your typical American food! I remember my first experience with “authentic” Chinese food.. I was visiting Singapore with a friend who had a friend that lived there.. he said he was going to take us out to eat Chinese food, and I stupidly said “oh sweet and sour chicken sounds really good right now!” and he just kind of laughed at me and said he didn’t think they would have sweet and sour chicken where he was taking us… :rotfl2: we ended up having a meal where half of the food still had its eyes attached to them… it was definitely interesting and unique!

We’ll be moving to Michigan soon though and renting a house and the backyard where we’ll be living is sooooo much bigger. It all depends on your location I guess.. Thank you for reading the TR and the superman premiere report too!! I was so happy I got those videos for Jo, she absolutely loved them!! I’m curious to hear your opinion of the movie… Jim was a part of a “superman line” with the website he visits, they put together a 24 line in front of the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, so fans could come hang out together in anticipation for the movie. I was there with him in line, It was a lot of fun, like one big long party or something, met some really great people! I was up from Monday morning to Wednesday morning, which is the reason I mentioned I was so exhausted before. Anyway, it was really cool, Bryan Singer and the writers of the movie were in the theatre when the movie started, they really are some cool cats. And the audience in the theatre was cheering and clapping louder then you’ll ever hear at a baseball game, although I’m sure people missed about half of the dialogue because of all the cheering throughout the movie! Anyway lots of fun, though I’m still recovering from being up for 48 hours straight! Between that and packing I have been feeling completely wiped out!
I’m sorry it took me so long to reply to everyone,, thank you all so much again!!!

Mary I am so sad that your trip report is over. I really enjoyed reading it and I always looked forward to reading more of it when I got home from a long day at the office. Now I'll have to do some house work I guess since I no longer have an excuse.
However on the other hand I am so happy for you and Jim and I hope you guys have a happy life together and live happily ever after. I am also glad that now you are able to keep your trip report and put it in a scrapbook or a wedding album so you can share your wedding story to your children and grandchildren some day.

:(
Well I've been home for less than a week, but just now finally got a chance to finish reading your wedding TR--excellent job Mary!
Sorry about your stupid "fired" cab driver--yes the story did live up to its hype :)
Kammie and Eric went to Hard Rock/Universal Studios for a day after WDW. She however did not take pics from the hotel, so it was nice to get to see your photos!
Wish I was with you at IOA--I'd ride the roller coasters with you :)
So glad I was not with you as you drove over the bridges--especially that double decker one! I have a thing with heights and even more so over water--so when we go over bridges, I hold the person next to me's hand and close my eyes real tight and just pray for it to be fast and safe. And it freaks me out when roller coasters go over bodies of water, small as they are--but that's a little quirk of mine that makes me me :)
And your wine tasting---that would so be me :) I don't care for wine--actually the only way I enjoy alcohol is when I can not taste the alcohol at all :)
Thanks for all of your fantastic writing, you really have set the bar for trs :)

WOW.
I can't believe I am sitting here puffy eyed at 1 am after reading this whole thing today.
What a beautiful keepsake of your wedding. All your thoughts and emotions will be so precious to hold on to with all those gorgeous pictures.
Thank you so much for sharing yourself, your time, your wedding with all of us. I've learned some things I never knew about DFTW's and I appreciate it very much.
I have to ask: What is the significance of 626? I ask because my name is "Mary Lou" and my birthday is 626 so I thought I'd check. :)
You were a gorgeous bride and I hope you are enjoying your three month anniversary right now!
Thank you again.

Well where do i begin, i ve finally joined the Dis boards after a year of reading everyones posts but it was probably your wedding log that made me think "hey this board is really worth joining".
I would come home from work everyday & go straight to my computer :surfweb: type in Disboards to search for your new update on your wedding log. I loved everything a bout it, your pics are gorgeous & you definatly have a skill for writing, Made me feel like i was there, wish i had been!! Your wedding looked amazing, god even my fiance feels like he knows you & he doesn't go on the boards! Could be to do with the fact that i was always saying "mary did this for her wedding, mary did that". At first he was like "whos Mary", not anymore though.
Im gutted  you ve finished writing it, when you started writing a bout arriving in San Fran i felt quite sad. So on behalf of all the girls 'n' guys out there who are avid followers of your wedding report how about you take another trip to meet the Mouse so then you can come back & write another log.
As someone else wrote, i ve started reading other peoples logs but they just don't seem to keep my brain interested whereas i loved reading your report.
So how a bout a Vowel Renewal,anything.......Please :) :) :) :) We need more!!!
A massive :thanks: for sharing your wonderful wedding/disneymoon
Lots of pixiedust: & :shamrock: sent to you & Jim

aww great report and great pix!!! thanks for posting! the pictures are beautiful!! the whole thing just looked beautiful. it's making me look SO forward to when we go down for our wedding!
few things that made me happy/laugh:
#1 the Barbie for your friend....priceless! where'd you get that at??
#2 Earl of Sandwich! i love that place! good food at cheap prices!
#3 "You're a lizard Harry" *dies* gotta love the Potter movies!
#4 i did a similar thing to that Animation Academy in MGM. we were supposed to draw Stitch. we had a professional showing us every step. so, needless to say, i screwed it up royally(as i am the WORST at drawing) and my DF did this wonderful job. i was so angry i just threw out my pictrue on the way out and didn't want to talk about it lol.
#5 i actually kind of liked the fog in the backround of your early pictures in Epcot. kind of cool.

Thank you :goodvibes For the Barbie I "made", I went out and bought one of those pregnant barbie dolls (I think it's name is "Midge" or something), then I customized the packaging with some photoshopping and glue... My mother-in-law actually went out and bought some fabric and sowed it so that it looked like the bridesmaid's dress... we were going to stop there but one of us had the idea to put a doll-house toilet in there with the barbie (for the morning sickness she was constantly having), etc. We got kind of into it, she even had a barbie sized petticoat for under the dress:rotfl: Glad you enjoyed the TR, I thought the fog at epcot was kind of cool in the morning too. Glad it went away for the wedding though! :) Congrats on your upcoming wedding!
Belle83007 - Thank you too! :goodvibes That is so weird that Stan sent you my wedding as one of the samples! I think I was such a dork in that video! I wonder which version he sent you, as I actually asked him to make a few music changes... the finished one he sent me had the wrong music in it! He says he will fix it and mail me some new ones, but I keep forgetting to follow up with him about that. So if any of the music in it seems strange, that is probably why! Thank you for your sweet comments, I am glad you enjoyed reading the TR :goodvibes

Hi Mary,
DH and I just got back from our week at WDW celebrating our 22 years. I just wanted to let you know, when we walked by the Isola in Italy at EPCOT, I thought of you and your big day. I pointed it out to DH and told him about your trip report and how much fun it was to read.
Just thought I'd share that.
Blessings,

The reception started with Under The Sea it showed the highlights first dance minnie and mickey, cake cutting etc Ended with If I Never Knew You!! :thumbsup2 It was a beautiful summary!!! :goodvibes

I just finished reading your TR...I have never read anyone's TR being that I am new to the DIS...although not new to Disney. I came here by accident also through the "food porn" thread. I also, like everyone here, feel as if I know you and Jim. My DH is like the others here also saying "Are you still reading about Disney?!?"
I have always loved Disney, I wanted to be an animator at Disney when I was younger, still would if I could afford the schooling!! I even sent Disney a letter when I was 13 asking how to become an animator!...anyway that's a different story. We do have one thing in common Mary, I also met my husband online although not from a MB but a game.... I was reading your story about when you were with your sisters and parents at the AKL and your sister spilled the beans. I felt your pain :sad2:
Anyway I am so glad you wrote a TR and I will definitely be waiting for you to begin a blog!
If you aren't a scrapbooker you should start, you are very detailed and document your life so well, you make me jealous (I can never think of what to write about trips etc). Anyway just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your TR and I didn't get any house work done all week! :rotfl:
Thanks for sharing!!!!!

Hi DIsneyVetMom! Welcome to the DIS :goodvibes That's great that you met your husband through a game - I actually know someone who met their boyfriend on World of Warcraft :sunny: That's cool that you mailed Disney asking them about how to become an animator - did they ever answer? I have zero artistic ability but I always have envied those who do!
Thank you so much for the sweet comments, I'm really glad you enjoyed reading the TR! It's funny that you mention scrapbooking, because I occasionally try doing a scrapbook, but the problem is they always end up HUGE because I want to put every single photo in it! :rotfl: I did one for my Japan trip and it is the size of an encyclopedia set, I swear!
Glad you enjoyed reading, and thank you for taking the time to reply :)
Belle83007 - Sorry I didn't reply again sooner, I didn't realize there were more posts in the thread.. I really wish it would email me when there were more posts like it is supposed to... Anyway that's still so funny that Stan sent you our video as a sample.. The "Under the Sea" song was the one we didn't ask for.. I had asked for "instrumental version of Part of your world or kiss the girl" and he put that in instead, I felt it was completely wrong for that part of the video. He should be fixing it for the HD version when he sends those though, I hope. Glad you liked it though! :) Thanks again :)
Ol'Bear - That's sweet that you thought of us when you passed by the Italy Isola. Thank you for sharing that, Hope you guys had a fabulous time in Disney again! :goodvibes

Yeah Disney actually sent me a letter with how to draw mickey instructions and a list of schools that had animation programs of course this was 1985..... :teeth:
I also got a really cool letter from an animator Bub Thomas..... It had a really cool mickey mouse on the outside of the envelope with some cool information for becoming an animator. That was really cool I still have it somewhere. I should frame it lol.
If I could afford school I would go...but its like 100K for the ringling school or something like that, course I think thats worth it but I dont think I could convince my husband to uproot move to FL and take out a 100K loan lol. Oh well.... :artist:

Hi Mary! I have spent the past 2 weeks going through this trip report in the moments when I had enough time to devote. I have to say that I loved every second of it and I feel like I know you and Jim now :) The funniest part is that we received a sample DVD from STVS in the mail today and your entire wedding was on it! (My fiance said if he were you he would have saved some money and got the basic package from STVS and then just sent for their free DVD which had your entire ceremony! :rotfl:) I was like, 'hey! I know her.' My fiance of course thought I was nuts, but it was so funny that it felt like I was watching a friend's wedding. I was even saying, 'watch, she's going to tell her dad to go to the other side,' and 'watch, Jim is going to talk in a silly voice when he does his vows.' It was so funny!!
Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that it was even more beautiful in the video. There is one shot that's kind of in slow motion when you get out of the limo (or get up from crouching behind it ;) ) to walk up to the bridge at the ceremony and you look STUNNING!!! Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience with us :) :)
OK, I just re-read this and I TOTALLY sound like a stalker :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thank you so much!! :goodvibes That is so funny that you were predicting what was going to happen while watching it with your fiance! I wonder why the videographer keeps sending my wedding as a sample to people, that's so weird.. I should get royalties lol! That is a good idea about a way to get extra copies from the videographer by requesting a "sample video" :rotfl: thanks again and I'm glad you liked the TR, and the video! :teeth: BTW - that pic of your dog in your signature is SO CUTE!!!!
Disneyvetmom - that is so cute that they sent you the letter and you still have it somewhere! Wow I didn't realize how much it was to go to that art school, though it doesn't surprise me I guess. I'm back in school again now and remembering all over again how expensive everything is!

Hi, Mary! I just wanted to thank you for writing (in such great detail) about your WDW wedding! We're planning to have ours there in 2008, and so I'm eager to find out anything I can in the meantime!! To be honest, I joined this forum just so I could write you a thank-you comment! :) Best wishes!

Yep, he was Maruice. It was kind of embarrasing, the morning of the wedding my sister Lisa was talking to him trying to get John Corbett's (the guy who played the DJ) phone number. She has no shame! :rotfl:
I'm not sure what kind of meal most brides have, I think it varies greatly. I actually didnt know there was a brunch menu available until I read about it on the DIS boards!!
Okay, I've only made it to page 17 out of 39 and I was going to wait until the end of the TR to post, but then I saw this. When you mentioned that your (at the time soon to be) father in law shot his show in NC, I didn't even think twice about it and he didn't look familiar in the pics, but I recognize the name Maurice Minnifield! As soon as I read that, I jumped right over to www.imdb.com and looked him up. Jim (and the rest of the family) are mentioned on the Internet Movie Database! How cool is that! All this time I've been thinking how cute your BIL Chris is and over on imdb it says he's only a year older than me. I should not be able to randomly get that kind of information, but it's so cool. I feel like I'm reading a celebrity TR now!
Anyway, as boring as my life is, this may have been the highlight of my day. I'm loving the TR so far (I'm still at the reception) and it's so well written. As someone who's very uncomfortable about her arms, trust me, you looked wonderful in that sleeveless gown!
Okay, I'm going to go back to reading now.

Thanks too, Kashmir104, let me know if you have any questions about the dessert parties. I had the opportunity to be at a friend's (Nikkilala) illumination dessert party last week so I've now been to both (her wedding was so much fun, I can't wait for her trip report!)! PM me if you'd like more info about either dessert parties :)

I just wanted to say thank you for writing such a wonderfully detailed Wedding/Honeymoon TR. Yours has become the standard that other TR will be measured against, at least for me. You are such a beautiful person and Jim seems like a great guy, you both make such a great match. I found your TR when I was looking for information on Epcot weddings, and for the last couple weeks I have been reading about your wedding and it makes me so excited about mine next year. My goal is to write my wedding/honeymoon TR at least half as good as yours. Congratulations Mary on your wedding and your recent 1st anniversary. Thanks for sharing your experience with all of us here on the Dis.

I'm so glad I wrote this TR, as I was re-reading it recently and there was soooo much stuff that I have already forgotten about my wedding, when I was re-reading it I was like "i forgot about that!". I recommend writing a TR to everyone here as a way to preserve your memories!! Have a great time planning your wedding and I look forward to reading your TR! :bride:

Tinker74 - thanks!! We've been getting on well, thank you for asking! :) Our relocation went well.. the drive from california to michigan wasn't as fun as it might have been - I had all these stops planned along the way, but then our car overheated in arizona, and we had to stop to fix the AC and that really slowed us down, so we had to rush the rest of the way.. but me, jim, and our dog made it safely to michigan! We had a blast decorating our house and spending all of our bed bath and beyond gift cards we got from the wedding! In case anyone is reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaly bored, ive had the pictures up on my flickr account for the past year of the drive and our new house and everything..
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jimmary/sets/72157594200092140/
We love being in a house for less then what we were paying to rent an apartment in california, although jim didn't really enjoy his first michigan winter! I'm doing really well in grad school, doing research in the field of molecular evolution using bat DNA - it's kind of cool, though school drives me a bit crazy at times :scared: We're both enjoying married life - though it makes us feel much older than we were before!
Probably no new trip reports for a while, :( now when I write it's in the hopes that a scientific journal will publish it - and they don't care for details i'm afraid! :sad2: I envy all the people on this board who are still planning for their wedding - I toy with the idea of a five year vow renewal if we have the money. In the meantime I'll be content if we can go to WDW once a year for a short trip, I'm going through disney withdrawal right now :scared:
Anyway, since this thread got bumped I decided to go back and edit in some professional photos, since I never had the chance to do that last year... then maybe I will finally print it out and put it in a binder to serve as a sort of "scrapbook" for my wedding! I'm also thinking of putting the video footage of my wedding that my guests took and putting it online since some friends of mine from out of state wanted to see it.. now that it's summertime and no more classes (though i still do research) I might have the time to catch up on all of these projects ive been meaning to do! Maybe I will post a link here in case anyone is interested in seeing some more footage of our wedding. Anyway that's probably a longer answer then you wanted :rotfl: Thanks for asking about us though!! princess: :goodvibes

I was trying to upload my video earlier and was having a hard time with it, something in the formatting or something :guilty: I'll have to try again next week, when I come back from a short weekend trip. I will post again when it works! I actually enjoy watching our amateur footage more than our professional footage - it's more "realistic" to me since it had the original music and everything. Just need to fix the formatting problem :badpc:

I haven't gotten through even half of your report, but I'm definitely subscribing! I can't wait to read the rest! popcorn:: You definitely looked like you were having a wonderful time, and I'm so glad that everyone else had a great time too.
Oh and a side note....my mom broke her foot a month ago and was telling me tonight how she had to use one of those scooters like your dad used. It cracked me up just thinking about your dad zooming everywhere:lmao:

I'm still reading through your TR, but I LOVE it so far!!! It's awesome! Your wedding sounds like it was just wonderful :) And I totally understand you being emotional afterwards...I know I'm going to be just like that! You wait so long for this one day and it's going to fly by. At least you have the memories and the pictures! :)

I'm still reading the TR but I had to stop again and make a comment. (still loving it by the way!) But I COMPLETELY understand your situation with that cab driver. We had beyond HORRIBLE experience at the Orlando airport a few months back with someone like that. He was an unbelievable JERK. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that on your honeymoon! SOOOO many of the cab drivers are like that in Orlando...unfortunately a lot of rude people live and work here in Orlando and it's a shame.

Ok one more post from me :).... I just finished reading your whole report and it was so fabulous. THANK YOU for taking the time to share that with everyone!! It's been over a year now since your wedding so I hope you had a great 1st year as a married couple!! Your report makes me so excited for my wedding next spring. Hopefully I can write a TR nearly as good as yours! ;)

Mary,
I just spent the last few hours sitting in front of my computer (at work):rolleyes1 reading your trip report and I am no where near done. Your wedding was so beautiful.
I really want to have a Disney wedding, but there are just so many choices to choose from that its overwhelming. Did you have a hard time deciding what you wanted for your wedding?
Thanks for this great TR and congratulations to you and Jim!

Since my weekend plans were a bust (too sickly to go anywhere today :coffee: ) I thought I would try again uploading some video, but it's still not working. Might be a while before I get anything uploaded, but i'll continue to ty a little here and there.
Jenn050709 - Thanks! :goodvibes The scooter thing cracks me up too! One time I broke my ankle right before a disneyland trip and i thought "at least i'll be able to use one of htose scooters!' but they were all out and i had to use a wheelchair instead, i was bummed lol
M&M126 - thanks for all the comments!! I really appreciate them :yay: Have a wonderful time planning for your wedding, it will be fantastic!! I look forward to reading your trip report :yay:
BaBeeCee14 - thank you!! :) I didn't have a hard time choosing really. I went on their website to look at their posted options. I knew immediately I wanted to have a wedding in one of the theme parks!! Since I couldn't afford MK (I don't think they were even offering them at that point, for some reason), I decided epcot would be just as lovely! I chose the "isola" because it was on the water and you had a nice panaramic view of all the countries, and future world across the way, and spaceship earth was right there in our photos - i loved it! The other countries were beautiful, but i really loved it being an "epcot" wedding! For the reception, I chose ariel's based on a few reasons - 1. we were staying at the yacht club, which is right next door.. 2.) - it had a lot of natural lighting to it, it wasn't too big so my small party size wouldn't be a big deal, and 3.) - I loved the pictures of the reception in "Fantasia-sam's" trip report.. I'll have to dig up her trip report and post a link here when i find it - it was lovely!! I know it can be overwhelming, but once you decide what key factors are important (e.g... having an outdoor/indoor wedding.. having a flowery backdrop or a water backdrop, etc...) everything will align itself! Let me know if you have any other questions :)

Hi, Mary!
Just wanted to let you know how nice it was to hear the update to your fairy tale! I almost forget I didn't actually attend your wedding, I read about it in such vivid detail! :) I am glad to hear that all is going well, and I certainly hope your weekend gets better - being sick is no fun. Will look for the video when it gets up!

Hi Mary!
I just finished reading all 41pgs of your TR and loved every minute of it! It makes me more excited to have a Disney wedding! It was wonderful how you were so descriptive, it took care of a lot of questions that I had. The pictures and stories were great. It reminds me of what my friends and family might say/do.

Goodness, Happy Anniversary a little late! It's been a year already! When I was planning our 5th Anniversary trip last summer, I read through your posts for ideas. Can't believe it's been that long already.
So.....are you two going to add to your family in the future? It will be a joy when you announce you have a new little Disney fan on the way! If that's what you plan on, ofcourse.

lulu - thank you for the good vibes! :goodvibes I'm still not having goodluck with the video, but have a few other ideas when I have a free weekend (Hopefully soon!)
oxlisamariexo - thank you! :goodvibes have lots of fun planning your wedding, it will be a blast! Look forward to hearing about your wedding!
jesussavedme - thank you for the anniversary wishes! :goodvibes I can't believe it's been a year either! I actually really want to have kids soon, but will most likely wait at least a year (or more) before even trying. Hopefully then I'll be done with the course work part of my program, and hopefully i'll have health insurance by then (i hear that helps :rotfl: ) anyway, long way down the road, but not far from my thoughts!

I spent most of my day yesterday glued to the computer reading both your pre-TR/planning thread and your TR, and I LOVED them both! Everything about your wedding sounds fantastic, and your details made me feel like I was right there with you the entire time! Your family looks like they had a wonderful time, and I'm sure they'll be talking about your wedding for years to come. I love the little things you did for them (welcome baskets, gifts, etc.) to make their trip so magical. You truly made a beautiful bride!
And congratulations on a year together! You and your DH make a wonderful couple.

Thank you so much!! :goodvibes Yep, we're heading to Coronado Springs in early September, only for a few days though, but I'm excited!! Sure we don't have the money and there's a million other things I should be doing with that time, but I need another disney vacation, darnit! And I've never done the free dining thing, so I'm really looking forward to it! I don't want to wish my summer away, but at the same time I can't wait! I see you're heading to WDW a few weeks later, staying at CSR too? Very cool! I'm really excited about trying out Coronado springs - i've never stayed there before but it looks like a lot of fun!! Thanks again for reading, I'm glad you enjoyed the TR :goodvibes

Okay, well I couldn't figure out how to upload the video from the little dvd's that most of my wedding day footage is on, but I did figure out how to upload video from my dv tapes, so I started uploading some of that footage. It takes a long time to compress these things though (roughly 90 minutes to compress each 10 minutes of video.. I need a faster computer!), so I can only do a little at a time. Not even sure if anyone is interested in watching them, but I'll post them anyway since I've been backing everything up, so I already have them on my computer :)
I have the first half of Day 1 uploaded... I got a LOT of boring footage on this day since I was so excited! All the other days I got like a third of the footage that I got on day one... I don't have the time to edit them down to make them more interesting, but oh well. And I sound like such a complete dork in these videos! But alas, here they are anyway. I guess it's kind of like "Trip Report - the motion picture!" :rolleyes1
Part 1 (9 minutes), travelling from LA to MCO and meeting up with everyone at the airport!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW_0565GPHc
Part 2 (9 minutes), really boring footage of us driving in the limo from MCO to the Yacht club and geeking out about "purple signs" and disney buses! Me tripping while getting out of the limo :sad2: Also includes checking in and walking to our hotel room at the yacht club
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvupxJ8cYpo
Part 3 (7 minutes), me being a COMPLETE idiot while looking around our new hotel room, and us heading to epcot and listening to off kilter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVJ5JELc1sM
Anyway, I'll be surprised if anyone actually watches these, but if anyone does, I'll upload more. When I get home from work I'll upload part two of Day 1 ('ohana rehearsal dinner).

Can't watch the video now ('cause I'm at work) but at the very least I'd like to see you trip out of the limo. Just kidding! :lmao:
So did your husband geek out at the Fantastic Four movie this weekend or is that strictly reserved for Superman? My hubby was very excited for Spider-man (ended up a bit disappointed), medium excited for FF2 (was ok but what the heck did they do to Jessica Alba's lips? they were HUGE!), and is now all atwitter over the impending Transformers. Boys!

:rotfl: Well, the trip out of the limo is from the first person perspective, just to let you know! (most of the footage is me recording, while narrating soundling like a five year old LOL). Jim didn't much care for the first Fantastic Four... with dialogue like "let's not fight..." "no.. let's!", :sad2: ... but he might go see the second one when he gets time.... I told him he'll have to see it himself though, I sat through spiderman3 that was my charity for the year lol (we both thought it was pretty bad)! But we are both excited about Transformers! With michael bay directing you know it will have some good explosions in it lol! popcorn::

After hearing your mention how bad Spiderman 3 was, I'm glad we didn't go see it in the theaters! Both me and my FH are pretty geeked about seeing Transformers however! When we were registering at Target last weekend, he was trying to figure out a way to add some of the Transformer stuff onto the registry :rotfl: He's going to see the new Fantastic Four movie with his kids next weekend, thankfully I'm getting out of going to that one. I've got wedding stuff to take care of that he can't be there for!

How fun!!!!!!!!! Our WDW wedding is in less than a month and I am getting itchy to just get down there. Thank you for giving me something to do that helps bide my time :) I felt bad for you that you were jumping out of your skin with excitement and no one else really was. I'm the same way! I totally would have been '5-year-old giddy' with you :) :) I always know others are excited, they just don't vocalize it as much as me, but I want someone to jump up and down and giggle with!!! I'd love to see more!!
Also, did you hire the limo through Mears? I'd love to surprise my family with getting this for them so they don't have to ride ME. Did your luggage go in the limo? I know you had a LOT ;) and I was trying to figure out how it all fit

Happy belated Anniversary---I feel like I should have sent you an Anniversary card since you let us be "a part" of your wedding day :) I'm so giddy right now I can't wait to watch your video footage. I'm glad I'm not the only one who acts that way lol! I know everyone else is excited, but like you said, they just don't vocalize it. Jim is always very subdued in his enthusiasm (unless it's for a superman movie!). The first big trip we took together - an alaskan cruise, it was just me and him, and I was just enthralled by everything, and he kept playing his gameboy, I remember that bummed me out!! :headache: So he was actually much better on this trip in showing enthusiasm! Though I guess I'm a little far to the other extreme! Oh well, vacations make me happy, what can ya do.
I think we ordered the limo through happylimo.com, though i'm not 100% sure. I don't think it was mears though. We shoved our luggage into the back fo the limo, it just fit! There's a picture on the first page of this thread where you can see the luggage in the back of the limo, looking like it's going to topple over onto my mother!
I watched the video stan sent to me and you were on it!! I loved it,it was so beautiful! I am so happy I am using him.
Thank you! :goodvibes Yeah, Stan shoots really beautiful wedding coverage. The only thing I'd mention to you is, he doesn't shoot much "candid" footage. He gets lovely establishing shots and fade in/fade outs, etc, but you won't see much footage of you guys talking or anything like that. so if that's important to you, i'd supplement stan by asking someone you know to take some footage! You can never have TOO much footage of your own wedding!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks! I had looked at their site before and the stretch SUV Excursion (which I think is what you had) says it only fits 6 suitcases and 4 carryons, but it holds 14 people. I was trying to figure out where the other 8 people are supposed to put their suitcases, let alone carryons! :rotfl:

OUr limo was called something like a "limo navigator" or something, can't remember for sure! But it fit all of me and jim's luggage, plus my mom & dad's, sister and husbands! I think since there were only 4 of us sitting in back, we put a lot of our luggage on the seat next to my mom. I'm surprised it all fit too! Yeah I don't know how 14 people would fit their luggage in, that's a lot of luggage!

Not really, he got the "interviews" with the guests, and all the big stuff (first dance, cake cutting, etc), but there was no "candid" footage.. although at one point I think there was supposed to be! Just when something was going on I really wanted to watch, he picked up his camera, pointed it at what was going on, and then accidentally turned the camera OFF.... so he thought he was recording but he wasn't.... and then when he was "done", he turned his camera ON (since it was actually off), and you see him walking around the room for 10 minutes, with the camera pointed on the floor!! :headache: Then when something else cool is going on, he picks up his camera, thinking it's off, and turns it on, only to actually turn it ON... et cetera!! That happened for quite a while, with him getting the floor, and then turning the camera OFF when he wanted to record something, oye! It was kind of funny but annoying at the same time! Not a biggie though... ANyway, so there may have been candid stuff, but I will never know now, ... but I do know what the floor at ariel's looks like in great detail!! :rotfl:

Okay here's some footage of our 'ohana dinner. Actually it's not "some" footage, it's pretty much the whole freakin' dinner!! I recorded wayyyyyyyyyy too much footage!!!! This dinner was an "unofficial" rehearsal dinner.. most of the bridal party wasn't coming in till later, right before the fantasmic dessert party.. I asked a few of them ahead of time if they wanted a rehearsal dinner or if they would rather spend their time exploring the parks - and most wanted to explore the parks since they would only be there a few days - so the dessert party was kind of a replacment for that....
ANYWAY!! So this is 45 minutes of footage - yes you heard me right, 45 whole minutes of us at 'ohana! Mostly everyone opening their welcome bags, and their gifts, and then there's 15 minutes of "WISHES" as seen from 'ohana... anyway, here you go... goodluck! :rotfl:
Part 1 (9 minutes) - us arriving at the polynesian.. "lei'ing" everyone, Jenny opening her "preggers jenny - bridesmaid edition" barbie doll gift, , and the guys opening their t-shirts, etc... Oh, and the master of ceremonies lady coming by and asking us our future name - I said "adams-corbin" for some reason instead of "corbin", because I was planning on hyphenating my name (I actually decided to keep my name), but this confused her.. I should have just said "corbin".. oh well..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiHh61iFIBo
Part 2 (9 minutes)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u61Es1PqzdU
jenny & lisa opening their gifts, my mom crying when she reads her card... the master of ceremonies lady announcing us to the restaurant and making us kiss, more card reading, sue opens her gift, some hula dancing going on in the background
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u61Es1PqzdU
Part 3 (9 minutes)
My mom opening her gift, the beginning of "WISHES" from 'ohana.. the girl in the seat in front of us breaking out into random cheerleader moves for some reason while in her chair...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8meNJ0eBSY
Part 4 (9 minutes)
the rest of "WISHES" as viewed from 'ohana
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3xhTWxu-uA
Part 5 (4 minutes)
my dad opening his card and eating shrimp, banana bread pudding dessert comes, chris welcomes us to the Walt Disney World Logues", and matt is a buzz kill :sad2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpeI_LBpF6c
That's the end of Day 1.
The footage from now on will be MUCH Less detailed than day one!! ( except for the wedding day maybe, but i'm not so sure about that!)

Oh well I have not booked him yet,I talked to him a while ago and he told me to call him when I sign Disney's contract.
What package did you get?
I'm not sure of the package that I got, i'll have to wait till i'm home to look at my old contract. I kind of thought the same thing, that's why i wanted to mention to you that there wasn't a lot of candid footage. But I still love the video he put together for us - it's great to show to people who want to see our wedding but don't want to relive all 8 hours of it like us brides do :rotfl: But it seemed like he went out of his way NOT to get people talking, that's why I mention it. Like in the morning when jim and the groomsmen were waiting in alredo's, and singing songs like "gummi bears" and "fresh prince of bel air", he would turn his camera off. It was kind of strange.. And one thing i was really bummed about was when my sister lisa announced that my brother and his wife just had their baby that morning.. he was there with his camera, but he didn't get it. Not just the announcement, but our reaction or anything, either. I was a little confused. He shoots beautiful imagery though, and edits together a great story. I don't want it to sound like i'm talking bad about his work though - i really loved it! But it's good to know what you're going to get.. f you like the "reality show" type of camera work (like me), then this is something to keep in mind. But if you have a friend or family member who can shoot the candid stuff, then I know you'll be happy with stan's work :goodvibes
EDITED TO ADD - I forgot to mention that this was all in the raw footage that we received. Either way, I think it's a good idea to get the raw footage just so you have everything.. but there wasn't a whole lot in the raw stuff that wasn't in the edited version too (except for the shots of the floor lol!).
EDITED A SECOND TIME TO ADD - hey this is post 626, like my namesake, woohoo! party:

Good idea. You might want to ask for some more full-version samples. Keeping in mind that what you see in the demo will be pretty much what yours will be like, raw footage and all. You could ask if he sends raw footage too, if you're curious.
I would upload my raw footage for you so you could decide for yourself, but he put it on DVD and i'm not sure how to upload DVD footage. If you want to see the raw footage though, I could make some copies and sent them to you in snail mail if you want. PM me your address if you'd like. :)

Maybe you're a good person to ask about this. I'm going through the whole last name debate right now. I need to keep my last name (especially for prfessional purposes,) but I don't want to have a different last name than my future children. I thought about hyphenating (even though that's a 19 letter last name  ) or just having 2 last names. I really don't know what to do. Anyway, I was wondering how you were introduced at your reception. We can't decide how it should be since I won't be Mrs. Clint _______________ and that's usually how people are introduced :confused3
Ok, off to watch the videos

Ok, off to watch the videos
At the reception, we just went with "Mr. and Mrs. Corbin" (his last name), just to avoid any confusion, especially amongst the older aunts and whatnot who might not "appreciate" that I wasn't taking his last name. I don't mind being called mrs. corbin "socially", i just don't want it to be my official name, you know what i mean?
Like I mentioned, I was planning on hyphenating my name, I promised Jim I would do it since he was moving to michigan with me for grad school, but the more I thought about it the more I was uncomfortable with it. I just couldn't do it! I think I want our future children to share our names, so they can have the hyphen ;). Jim's kind of sensitive about this topic, I have no idea why. :confused3 I think he takes it personally that I don't want to take his last name, but I'm sorry, i grew up with one name, i don't want to change it just because I got married.. when i finally earn my ph.d I want to be dr. adams like i always pictured it, not dr. corbin - i don't know who that person is, you know?...
I don't think there's any wrong-or-right here, I think it comes down to what you're comfortable with. Society's still playing catch up in this department, I think. I can't even pay the water bill because I don't share jim's last name, even though we have the same address on our driver's license :sad2:
anyway, sorry i can't be more help - as you can see i'm still struggling with it too!

I'm jealous of the people who *don't* struggle with the last name thing; the ones who either know for sure they want to take his last name or know for sure they don't, you know? I like the idea (in theory) of taking his name but I like my name! I'm me! That's why I thought the hyphenation would be such a great compromise (DH doesn't care either way, which isn't helping either!). Still haven't made it official yet because I don't know if I like the hyphenation either! :confused3
Anyway, glad other ladies are torn over it as well! Good to know we aren't alone, even in post-wedding decisions...

I found your trip report. I loved it!! Thank you for taking the time to put it together for us!
Everything was beautiful... The bride, bridesmaids, groom, groomsmen, the ceremony, the site (despite the wall of doom!), and the honeymoon! I feel like I know you and Jim now!
I see you have a trip planned soon! I hope you write another TR for the regular TR boards!

Hey Mary,
A couple more questions for you :)
1. What time was your ADR that night and what time did Wishes start? Our ADR is for 9:10 and Wishes is at 10:00. Do you think we'll time it ok to be able to watch? Your video was cool. I didn't know they piped in the music
2. I would love to make a book like you made your mom. I know how to do some 'tackier' versions, but how did you actually bind it like a real book?
Thanks!!
1. Our ADR at 'Ohana was for 9:30 pm, with wishes being at 10 pm. I think 9:10 should be perfect!
2.) I actually didn't make the book, I bought one of those "mom" books filled with quotes about how great mothers are from hallmark and added family pictures to each page and other little things like it was a scrapbook. I'll post some pics of the book if you're curious. :)
Thanks, that helps! I feel the SAME way, and Clint (my DF) is struggling with it too. However, I asked him how he would feel if society 'forced' him to take my name and he said it would be weird, so I know he understands. The only difference is that I have a VERY normal last name and he has a 12 letter, confusing German last name  That's part of the problem... Plus, I'm a teacher, and I hear my name called about 400 times per day! I am Ms. Stanley and that's who I always want to be. ;)
I totally hear you! I'm glad your fiance understands. I'm sure your future students appreciate you keeping your easy to pronounce name! :goodvibes

I wish I could have been sure about it too. Well i would have been fine in keeping my own name except DH seems so bummed about it! :sad2: He said he would hyphenate his last name if I hyphenated mine, but I don't want him to change his last name anymore than i want to change mine. Anyway, goodluck on your decision making!!!

Anyway you get the idea. It was like 100 pages of that,, different photos that reminded me of whatever the quote in the book was, etc. (I printed the photos not on photo paper, but on paper that was good quality but not too thick or thin, used some pattern scissors to make a border for some of them, or just cut them.. and just glued it to the pages)...It was fun putting it together :)

I know what you mean about putting your excitement on hold during the school year, i'm the same way. Yay for summer break and being able to really anticipate your wedding!! That's so sweet of youto say - but most of the things i did for my wedding i got as ideas off of the dis! If it wasn't for this place, i would have spent a lot more money for far less at my wedding, and it wouldn't have been nearly as fun! Anyway, here are some more videos of the wedding day.
Part 1 - The morning (9:40 minutes)
Us getting ready in my hotel room before the wedding. Then the last feew minutes were taken by Jim's half brother Bo of the groomsmen getting in the limo.

Part 2 - (9:30 minutes)
Us in the limo (the sound isn't completely in sync here for some reason), and the first half of the wedding ceremony taken by jim's brother Bo. You can hear the real music played in the ceremony here, by the guitar and flute duo.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIp84k5He3Q
part 3 - (7:51 minutes)
The last half of the wedding ceremony, still bo's footage
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkhfwT3feXQ
part 4 - (8:35 minutes)
Bo's footage of our wedding reception, (kind of weird footage, mostly people eating.. good shot of mickey and minnie's grand entrance)
plus 2 minutes of my footage of me in my hotel room talking about the day. And you see what good care I take of the wedding dress after the ceremony

*Forget the cake, I wish I had been at your wedding!!! But I feel like a part of me was.
*I TOTALLY felt the same way about my flowers - sad that they would die.
Talk to you soon!
:)
Ha, I know, my poor wedding dress! It arrived back home safely though, and I got it preserved (for free - woohoo! not sure if I would have payed to reserve it, but i'm glad it is). I wish you had been at my wedding, that would have been so cool! In the meantime, we'll just have to keep missing each other at WDW :rotfl:
omg i am wiping the tears from my eyes:goodvibes i LOVED your videos!!!!!! everything went perfectly and you looked amazing:wizard: i am so happy for you guys!!! and yes i soo could eat a piece of that cake right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!popcorn:: are there any more videos on the way???? i could watch them all day!!!! it was so nice to see the parts of your wedding on video that i didnt see on Stans sample video he sent me!!! :)
Thank you so much, you are so sweet! :goodvibes I was glad to have some amateur video taken along with the professional footage, gives me a different perspective of the wedding :) It's funny that you say "everything went perfectly" though, because when I watch the videos I tend to notice all the little mistakes that were made lol. That's the curse of being the one who planned everything - I know what went right and wrong lol. Thanks again! :goodvibes

Gotta say a few things:
1) Your arms are NOT big! So there! You were a beautiful bride, and still are, and don't sell yourself short.
2) The way you and Jim interact is *adorable*. I gotta say, after 5 years of marriage, it just gets better and better. (Looks like you and Jim are about hte same age as DH and I.)
3) You're a great writer!
There's more, but I can't think of it all now. You sem like a really sincere person who is always looking out for others. Thanks so much for sharing your trip with those of us who need a Disney fix!

We haven't talked about a vow renewal. I want to do 7-10 days in WDW (staying on property, of course!) after I get my RN. I already have my BA in advertising, but after having had gastric bypass (and losing 110 lbs) I want to work with other bariatric patients, so that will be my reward, and we'll also celebrate whatever anniversary that will be at the time, maybe # 7 or 8?
BTW, your DH has/had the coolest job ever! I wanted to paint animation cells when I was in high school! I think he has the next best thing!

Congrats on the 110 1b weightloss!!!! That's a fantastic achievement!! I wanted to get the surgery or a lap-band a few years ago, but my insurance sucked, so I'm stuck losing and gaining the same weight over and over again. That's great that you're getting your RN, we definitely need good RN's especially in that field! After all your milestones you deserve a full year in WDW lol!
Oh, and I'm horrible wife because I took my DH away from that job so he's no longer restoring movies - he really liked that job too. He followed me to boring michigan where he's working boring computer tech support, instead of fun jobs like that and video game design, which he was offered a job in los angeles for. All so I could go for my degree. Aren't I the meanest wife lol. Darn it to life's trade-off's!

Hey Christina - welcome to the DIS!! :welcome: :welcome: party: Congrats on planning for your wedding, do you have a date/location picked? Regarding the book, there's an e-book about getting married in WDW, but i'm not sure if it's been updated, when i read through it, it was the 2003 edition. Did I refer to it somewhere in the TR? I don't remember if i did, because i honestly didn't get a lot of information from the book. I learned the most information about getting married in wdw right here in this forum!!! This place is sooooo informative and helpful. I just read and read through this forum, and read through TR's and found a lot of info that way. Let us know if you have any questions!

Oh girl you have just told the wrong person to just ask away. I have questions galore!! I actually have no date set as we are still just trying to figure out how much it is all going to cost us to have a wedding in Disney as that is where most of my questions stem from: How much for this? How much for that? As I am looking into everything and seeing how much everything is going to be, my original idea of a budget is going out the window and I haven't even started planning!!! So that is where I am now: from head to toe in questions. What is included? Where can we have what? How much is that what? It's exhasting. So I decided to just read and read some more on this site. I have found out some very useful information. Thanks for your welcoming by the way. Congrats on your wedding day! You must have had a blast! I'm excited and I only got past the part of just saying that I want my wedding to be in Disney! :yay:

The planning is so much fun, you are at the best part lol! I'd try to put a list together of how many guests you want to attend, which i'm sure you've done already. but if you have a good idea of a head count then it makes budgeting much easier! Then try to askk yourself questions like "do i want an indoor/outdoor wedding... night/day wedding.... elegant or something fun?" etc.. that might help steer you in the right direction! The wishlist at disney's website gives a good list of the possible locations but remember that there are other places you can get married in wdw that aren't on the list! i didn't realize until finding this site that you can get married by tower of terror, or the great movie ride, just to give some examples (of course i think you have to be a "custom" bride for those). Anyway, i found once i had those questions sorted out, the rest was just icing on the cake! Always feel free to ask more questions on this board! :goodvibes

I'm totally loving all the videos! I especially loved 'Mickey, I know him!' My sisters and I use that line for stuff all the time!! That was a great movie :)
It's so fun for me to see and hear your emotions through the whole wedding process. I know I'm going to feel exactly like you did once it's all over....the day after Christmas times 1,000 :( I'm such an excitable person and I wear my emotions on my sleeve, so I have been building and building this up in my mind and I'm so afraid for the 'let down' when it's all over. Thanks for posting your private thoughts. It made me feel better to know I wasn't alone :goodvibes

I'm still working my way through all the videos and having a blast watching them. I'm not getting any of my wedding stuff done, so if my wedding stinks, it's your fault :rotfl: JK!
I'm cracking up at Jim in IOA when he keeps talking about all the food. He & I would get along great on vacation because that's all I do the whole time. 'Ooh, that looks good' 'Let's try that' 'When are we eating' etc... Even if I'm totally not hungry, there's just so much fun food!! ;)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses that line, that movie was great! :rotfl: It's nice to hear that I'm not the only one who gets way overexcited by things like this lol. I think the lack of sleep made it a lot worse too!! Try to get a goodnight sleep before your wedding, it helps a lot... or so I would imagine lol! I think they can go into any three-ring binder type of guestbook. The size is a little different from most scrapbooks, but if you found one that's the right size and has a three ring binder in it, i think it should work :)

It was "when somebody loved me" from Toy Story II. Jesse (the yodelin' cowgirl) sang it while a montage played of her being the favorite toy of a little girl to being in a donation/garbage bin or something like that. It always makes jim cry! It's a lovely song, but not the happiest song to be playing at a wedding! Just one of the many reasons I wasn't that impressed with our DJ lol.

Hi Mary :wave2: I just wanted to tell you I loved your entire thread. I spent entire evenings just reading and looking at your beautiful pictures. Do you scrapebook? If not, you should! Your journaling is so wonderful and it made me feel like I spent the entire trip riding on your shoulder, seeing/feeling/tasting everything from your perspective. I noticed when your guest first arrived in WDW they were wearing group shirts. Do you remember where you found them? I've been looking for some for my GF's 25th wedding anniversary and vow renewal in WDW this August but I haven't found any that I like. Could you share this info (if you remember)
Thanks!

Thanks, Marge! :goodvibes I used to scrapbook but don't have the time or money for it anymore :( Thank you for the wonderful compliments though! :goodvibes For the group shirts - are you referring to the ones from our dessert party? My mom actually got those (they were a surprise to me!) so I'm not 100% sure, but I think she got them from the disney catalog. They are actually high quality shirts, very nice! That's so sweet your thinking of getting them for your GF's vow renewal - that sounds lovely!

That's a bummer that he was late in contacting you, you'd think disney would have a tighter rein on their vendors! I hope you get a different DJ, but even if you end up with our DJ, he might not have been that bad, I think we were just difficult people to "read"! Like he had a place for us to pick 10 songs we wanted to play at the reception and used those to guess what other songs we liked.. so i put a very eclectic mix of music, including disney, classic rock, pop, alanis, elvis,etc.. and one dixie chicks song.. so extrapolating from that he played like four other country music songs that i couldn't stand lol. (no biggie though, I figured the relatives from texas would probably like it) The other disney wedding I went to, their DJ was EXCELLENT! I'm sending you goodvibes that you get their DJ :goodvibes 6 days to go - woohoo!!

Sorry for the late late response! We made the groomsmen shirt at home, using the iron-on transfers. They turned out surprisingly well, quality wise! Some of the groomsmen occasionally wear them, I guess they enjoy the strange looks they get!

Nice to see you back here. Hope married life is agreeing with you. We are going into the final stages for our November Disney wedding. It will be in Epcot - same location as yours - and I will tell you that seeing your photos back then made us decide to use Italy.
We are also using a version of your invitation. I am using the same stick Mickey and Minnie graphics but putting them on our Cards and Pockets invitation. We are using red pockets with white inserts and the invitation will have a black border. I am using the three graphics on the top of the invitation (left side - middle - right side) and then putting a small graphic on the top left hand corner of each of the inserts.
Thanks so much for your trip report from a while back - it has really helped alot of brides on these boards.

Your invitations sound beautiful!! I loved those graphics! You are going to love having your ceremony in Italy - (especially without the ugly construction wall blocking one of the bridges!). Enjoy all the planning leading up to the day - the wedding is over before you know it. Your wedding will be beautiful!
