Oh geez! Do I have to pick just ONE??? I went to ''disney's official website'' and looked thru every one of the live action movies... yep... all gazillion of them! I saw so many that I could watch over and over and over and over. In fact, I have. I can almost quote Ella Enchanted and The Princess Diaries. (I can definitely quote The Princess Bride - but that's another studio)And I still cry and cheer when I watch Angels in the Outfield. Also, each year we HAVE to watch The Santa Clause (parts 1 and 2).

I could go on and on... but I won't bore you with all that.

I love all of the original classic Walt Disney movies especially anything with Hayley Mills and Annette Funicello (and, no, I am not talking about the beach movies she made with Frankie Avalon, even though I liked those, too.). I still cry with Pollyanna but I love Old Yellar, Swiss Family Robinson. And who can forget that Walt gave Kurt Russell a major boost!

I love The Happiest Millionaire! Of course, I love all the classic Disney - with Hayley Mills, Kurt Russell, etc. Two other favorites not mentioned are The North Ave Irregulars and One of Our Dinosaurs is Missing.

My DS's have been listening to the Disney box set in preparatin for our trip and I've heard Hayley Mills singing that Parent Trap song waaaay too many times (why isn't there a smilie icon covering his ears???)

Hands down, Mary Poppins. My parents took me to see it when I was 4 years old, back in the day when you could buy a movie program at the theatre. I also have the original soundtrack, which I am not sure, but think may not even be recorded in stereo.

Second Place Pirates of the Caribbean, gotta love Capt. Jack!

I love, love, LOVE "The Parent Trap" starring Hayley Mills.

The settings, the clothes, that Carmel ranch(I know there's a story behind that Disney owned building), the dynamics of the fabulous actors involved...I love it all and watch the movie frequently.

Pirates "Black Pearl" is the best in my opinion, thought the original was just so well done, entertaining and original. Overall just a great movie that I think will last in movie history. The new one is OK but not near as good as the first. Nat. Treasure was ok, but I can't stand Nick Cage.

Mine would have to be Mary Poppins as well! B/c when we took my son to Disney (he was almost 3) we were driving in the car and my SIL (Mary Poppins is her all time favorite as well) started singing "Just a spoon full of sugar" (the part where Mary is singing in the mirror w/herself) and when she got finished with the "aaahhhahhhhahhh" he looked right at her and said "CHEEKY"!!! I thought we would all die we were laughing soooo hard. So ever since then, it has been my favorite! But, I am also a Narnia and POTC fan too!

Great thread, so many good movies mentioned! :thumbsup2 Currently, I love POTC 1&2 but as a child of the 80's my most favorite live-action will always be "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" (technically a Touchstone release, but Disney none-the-less). I think the effects still hold up fairly well by today's standards, too!

I always liked Song of the South. But I also have so many more I always loved to watch, the Herbie movies, Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks (those have been dd's favorites since she was about 3).

Old Yeller, for its daring choice to shy away from sentimentality in its coming-of-age ending. If you haven't seen it, do so. It's one of the few films that make me tear up.

Btw, for those of you who are interested in such trivia, Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Song of the South, etc. are not live-action films because they are, at least in part, animated. Some film buffs and scholars call them hybrid films, although that term is fraught with some definitional challenges as well. Still, I like to use it to describe the live-action/animation combination found in Who Framed Roger Rabbit and the films mentioned above. All these films are entertaining, and so I was almost relieved to be able to take them off my list of possible answers due to this technicality.

I hope I'm right with the choice and I think it was a Disney movie, but I liked "The Kid" with Bruce Willis, he said when he made the movie he wanted something his children could watch that he starred in without the blood and gore he was use to making.

When I read the question my very first thought was "Old Yeller", but I can't leave it at that. So.......... I have to also include "Mary Poppins", "The Parent Trap" (both versions), "The Santa Claus", "National Treasure" and so many , many more.

Would have to be Pirates of the Carribean. Both of them. Can't wait until the second comes out on DVD.

This thread is making me so nostalgic.... Remember when Sunday nights were always "The Wonderful World of Disney"? Remember when the Disney channel used to always play tons of Disney movies and still had a Mickey Mouse Club? I miss that! Those were my favorites to watch. And Hayley Mills and Annette were so much more wholesome and better role models than Lindsey Lohan and Anne Hathaway!

I love a lot of those movies all of you have listed. I didn't see Flight of the Navigator listed. I thought the boy in the movie was so cute when I was a kid! lol

I also loved a lot of Mickey cartoons... like Mickey and the Beanstalk. How did that song go... "In the top right pocket, you'll find the key..." That song still plays in my head - missing words, of course. I also love "Mickey's Christmas Carol."

Flubber was cute! I love Disney movies!

Oh, and for the person who mentioned the Gnome Mobile... "The Gnome Mobile, the gnome mobile, we're riding along in the gnome mobile. Oh what a wonderful thing to feel! Riding along in the gnome mobile!"

:cloud9: Wow! When I first saw this thread, my first thought was Mary Poppins. I LOVE that movie.

But, after reading through all these posts, I also must add:

Remember the Titans
The Princess Diaries
POTC
The Santa Clause
The Parent Trap (I loved both versions & totally agree, too bad Lindsay Lohan turned out as she did. She was SO cute.)

As a kid, I adored Escape to Witch Mountain and the Herbie movies.

LOVED hearing about little girls' reactions to Julie Andrews. She's my favorite actress EVER.

What a super idea for a thread! :sunny:

Does anyone remember the old scary movie with I think Betty Davis in it. It was a Disney movie, and now that I think about it, it seems strange that they would make a scary movie (at least I thought it was!). Maybe it was called "The Watcher in the Woods". Does that ring a bell?
