BAH! I know they have priority but that doesn't mean I have to like it! Stupid convention... I e-mailed my co-ordinator to see about moving the date. (Really, what's a week, right?!) I just can't see it happening anywhere else. He'll be back in the office tomorrow so hopefully there's another date available.

Sorry to hear that, that stinks! But hopefully you will be able to find another date or possibly a new exciting location :)

I hope you find something else. If you wanted to give us details maybe we can make additional suggestions. I also have a bunch of photos of different sites that are offered for receptions. Let me know if you need some help. =)

Ember, I know it’s rare that someone gets bumped by a convention group but I'm sorry to hear that it happened to you. It sounds like you have the proper attitude, though, since you’re already considering moving things around. Where there's a will, there's a way. ;)

That stinks - when is your date? Is it that once your contract is signed that they can't bump you? Or how far out can they bump?

I think I remember our SM telling us that a convention can bump you until 8 months out or a signed contract...but that was a while ago so Im not positive

Thanks for the support, all! I really appreciate it. It really isn't a huge deal, it's mainly just an annoyance. I'm one year out and conventions have priority up until my contract is signed at eight months. My biggest worry is moving the date and then having it happen again, but I guess that's just a risk I'll have to take.
Before I got bumped my reception was set for the Whitehall Room at the Grand Floridian. I'm having a high tea reception and I just can't see anywhere working as well... Here's a picture of the "feel" I'm trying to get - not that I want to copy this space it's just my inspiration picture:

If anyone has any other ideas other than the Grand Floridian I'd love to hear them!
Thanks again!

Does the GF tea room not work?
I asked about it and am just waiting to hear back! Joe has said that he didn't think it would when I first talked to him, though, because of the events already scheduled there... I asked if there was a way to buy out a sitting and hopefully I'll hear back from him soon.

ember, what date were you hoping for?
i am hoping for may 8th and havent heard from my sales manager yet.
this 'bumped' thing really worries me though as some of my guests are wanting to book their trips.
i am just worried that a convention may come in and want the whole week which would really mess things up or me.
i also want my reception at the whitehall room

We got bumped too, i was originally having my reception at the yacht club but i have now been moved to the Marvin Gardens room at the boardwalk. We went to see it last week and its lovely. The rooms have nice big windows and a nice patio area and a small rotunda. It was annoying to get bumped by the convention as i was 2 weeks away from my 8month mark but to me it worked out for the best.

Hi...I am responding because i too am worried about this BUT...we really want the GF but we also saw the Boardwalk and it is a BEUTIFUL cc! The St James patio is very comprable to the whitehall (patio- but no mural on the ceiling)and actually a little bigger plus i think the menus are just a bit cheaper. Good Luck.

Sorry to hear about your bump, but keep in mind anything can happen. When DD signed her contract at 1 yr out (WP and LS reception) there is a clause in there that she could be moved to a different location. When we asked the SM about it, she told us that someone did have to move their reception from LS due to a delay in construction. So things happen, you just have to trust that the Mouse will work his magic!

I'm back to waiting... :confused3
I talked with Joe and got put into a lottery for the 10th. Lost that. (Oh well.) Now I'm waiting to hear about the 21st. It's two weeks later but so far there's no one else waiting for it so hopefully this time it will work out. I have to wait until the 22nd to hear if everything is okay. He did say that it's actually pretty rare for a convention to take the Whitehall Room so I'm crossing my fingers that this doesn't happen again. :worried:
I was a little blue today just because the whole thing was a bit of a let down, but shopping made it better. LOL I hope it works out this time, keep your fingers crossed for me!!
