I took some of the kids and a friend out for a hike today and took a few (130) pictures. Here are a few of them, any advice on how to improve would be much appreciated. The pictures of the creek didn't come out as well as I would have liked, and I know that a lot of that is because the day was a kind of overcast, but I am not sure I am setting things correctly.
Thanks!

This is just my preference - but I don't ever take pictures on b&w/sepia/etc at the time of the picture. You can do all of those transformations in most photo editing software packages and still have the original full color images.

I think your creek pictures look fine. There's just not a lot of extremes in them (really light and really dark) so they don't 'stand out'. I'd try at different times of the day...

for sepia, black and white, colour boosting, softening emulation I highly recommend:

IC NET Filters Unlimited
AlienSkin Exposure (click here to see examples (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1091772))

PM me for more info.
