Would you believe that there was another woman there with the same poncho. It turns out that she lives 1 mile from my house and owns DVC (I can't remember where.) DS would love to go for Jersey Week but the way the school plays with their holidays (We had cruise set for spring break then they said they were taking away the last 2 days and adding them for a week in February - IF they didn't use all their snow days they would get the full week in April). We are now going in July. 4 day DCL 4 days at Beach Club.

Okay to satrt with we live in Burlington NJ now, however I have over the past 30 years lived in Gloucester, Camden, Atlantic, Essex, Morris, Sussex, Warren and now Burlington counties. My DW is originally from Passaic County and we both graduated from State schools (Montclair State for me Ramapo College for her) and both attend Rutgers Camden (me for my law degree which I get in 10 days and her for her Masters degree). We are making our first Jersey week trip this year and staying at our home resort SSR (unless our waitlists come through [crossing fingers]). We'd love to have a Jersey member get together sometime if people are interested.

It's 141 New Bridge Road - right after Windsor Road. In the Twin Boro yesterday they had a big article about it. The family found out Thursday, they tore the house down Saturday and the family was sent to WDW. They are coming home tomorrow to see the new house. It is gorgeous - I would estimate it is now worth close to $1 million. The house they tore down was a small split level.

We're from Manahawkin as well! And you list it just like we do as not many people even recognize the name till you add "near LBI." :)
We are headed home to the BWV May 28th!
We're from South Jersey - Mount Laurel, right outside Cherry Hill. Just got through ROFR this week - bought 275 points at SSR through the folks at TTS. We were down during Katrina last August and did the DVC presentation, then sat on it for awhile. I've been reading these Boards for the last 2 months learning about DVC before we finally decided to pull the trigger. Registered tonight and this is my 2nd post.
Trying to figure out how to customize my signature and add in some things to spiff it up. Anybody else from Burlington County out there?

Just my interpretation, but I believe BCV to be more like Cape May and BWV to more like AC, Ocean City or even Wildwood. But you do live in Cape May County, so you would know better than just a weekender like me. :thumbsup2

Hey Jeff..I may be if I can get my children into bed at a normal time. @@ ;)
Vicki,
I made it to chat but not until about 10:45. This week was quiet in chat when I was there. I only stayed about an hour.
When is your next trip to WDW? My parents and niece are coming July 13-18 and we'll be at WDW July 15-18. :teeth: Not sure where we're staying yet because I already banked all points from this year forward. Probably AKL if I can get a good AP/FL resident rate when the codes come out. Polynesian would be first choice but that's way more expensive than AKL.

Hi Jeff--we're going in December(8-16), Danny and his wife too.
We're staying at Pop the first night because we don't land until 11:40 pm. Dan & Teri(wife) are staying there too that same night, though they're flying in a little earlier.
Then Saturday morning we're moving over to BWV and Danny and Teri are going to the BCV.
I'm so psyched, we haven't been in December since my daughter was a baby, and Danny and Teri never have. Already bought our tickets to MVMCP. :cool1:
Lucky you getting those FL rates! Jim and I are trying to stay at every resort, I just need Poly, GF, YC(can you see the trend here, haven't stayed at the pricey ones LOL) and WL..oh and Pop.
Though I stayed at the BCV with my Mom so DH hasn't stayed there yet, but I'm sure we'll go together one day so he can check it off.

Vicki,
I haven't stayed at Pop yet. By the time it opened I owned DVC so there was no need. I may book that for the night before the cruise in October so I can put it on my "stayed there" list. The AP rates came out yesterday and no monorail resorts were included. YC, BC and BWI are $189 + tax and OKW and SSR are $159 + tax for studios. I booked BC for the pool and closeness to EC. There were no FL resident rates. Oh, and the rates are for 7/5 to 8/5 only.
Your December trip sounds like fun. Christmas at WDW is a sight to see, or so I here. I haven't been myself yet but will this year. I'm going to MVMCP on December 4th, then attending the condo meeting December 5th (BWV, 9AM). I plan on doing at least 1 more than that, maybe 2 more. The best part of your trip is that you do it as a family. It helps that both of you own too. Have a great time and let me know if you want to meet.

I'm not a DVC member, but I am staying in a Grand Villa with friends at OKW the last week in October, 2006. We have a grand gathering and are booking lots of neat stuff including MNSSHP, Lunch at Jiko special program, and GG fireworks cruise. We have a group of ex-disneyana folks that now book our own disneyana convention every two years. We have 20 to 30 in our group. Looking forwared to having a blast.

Jim,
I wouldn't worry too much about the crowds. I think the crowds have grown over the last few years, but it is not terrible. We were there last November and the standby wait for the more popular rides (Tower of Terror, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain) was around 30 minutes. The only exception was Soarin', which had extremely long wait times and the fast pass machines were emptied early, but the ride was very new. There were many rides and shows with very short wait times. Also, I was late making adr's and I didn't have any difficulty there either.

We have a rule that anybody who comes down from NJ must bring some B&W HC if they want to visit us. Also required is when somebody makes a trip back north they must bring some back down. DFiL left 4 of them in NC at his stop over last time he came back down. He goes back up next month and this time we'll have a string around his finger and steering wheel.

New Orleans was FANTASTIC!! I went with 3 girlfriends, one of whom was a native of N.O.-now living in TX-so we were able to have her show us around.

We flew Airtran out of Philly last August when we came to WDW with good friends during the week Katrina hit. No problems on either end of the trip an the cost was arond $220 pp round trip. We flew Spirit out of AC Int'l twice before when we came down over the last 6 years - great little airport and can't say anything bad about Spirit. We'd use them again if the price was right - we're about midway between either airport.

We're located about 20 min north of you (we're in the northern part of McGuire's flight path). You also have the option of flying out of Newark. When we compared $$$ for this November's trip, Newark was cheaper by Philly by about $400 (there are 6 of us). AC's rates weren't out in December when we booked airfare, so we couldn't compare rates, but I didn't want to risk it.

Hey N Jersey here!!! Boonton, not as close to Disney as some of you S. Jersey people so we may start our next trip from your houses down south and knock 2 hours off our trip :rotfl2: !!! Hubby is from Ringwood and I am Secaucus( I can hear everyone saying it wrong-except those Hudson county people!) but we settled up here! We (or maybe me) hope to move home to Disney someday soon!!!!
LOL. Yes, people who live there put the accent in Secuacus on the first syllable, and everyone else puts it on the second.
I don't know who is correct. I'd be inclined to say that we should defer to the people who actually live there. However, there are many residents of Baltimore who pronounce their city "Bal-mer," so the locals can't always be trusted.

We are Bergen County. Just back from BCV on 7/3 but can't wait to go back.
Maybe you guys could appreciate this. BCV coffee is soooo weak, needed a strong cup of coffee in the morning, so searched for expresso. No Starbucks on Disney property.

Hello all!! A shoebie is what we call the tourists who swarm the Jersey shore, restaurants, malls, and most importantly the ROADS- every summer. ::yes:: They kind of take over and SOME are not very considerate of the people who actually live there.
DH told me the real story of the word shoebie. Years ago tourists came to Atlantic City with their lunch in a shoe box. That is apparently where the term comes from.

We moved here about 1 1/2 years ago... and just bought into DVC in the last month (still haven't even gotten our paperwork yet!).
We will soon own 150 SSR points and 100 BCV! I don't know how to add the images though to my signature (and I thought I was pretty savvy when it came to the Internet!).
I'm a mom of a 2-year old Angel who works full-time in Advertising sales. It makes it very difficult to meet other moms because there isn't much free time!!! Maybe we can meet some new people through this Jersey thread. Hope to hear from you soon!

I'm from Paramus originally, still have family there. I'm visiting them right before heading to the BW in July... do you need a fix?!?!?!
Just read your post.
Funny that you posted on 6/02/06, we were at WDW/FW for our 33rd at the time. Had a GREAT time and yes I am always in need of a B&W heavy crumb FIX. Thanks for the offer. :thumbsup2

There's a covered bridge in Cherry Hill. It doesn't go over a major river or anything, but it is still a covered bridge. Maybe there are 2 remaining. :rotfl:

Maybe there are 2 remaining. :rotfl:Do you know that I'm such a geek that I had to google this. :rotfl: Apparently the town teaches that we are the last remaining covered bridge because ours is from the 1750s and Cherry Hill's is only from the 1950s. My goodness I had no idea that there are covered bridge snobs. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We're from Union Twp. in Hunterdon County. We wish we could join in on Jersey week, but we're teachers and our schools have conferences that week.
Eeyore'sthebest: My Dh teaches at Delaware Twp. School in Sergeantsville. I know exactly what covered bridge you are talking about!!
