My family and I are spending a week at Universal Studios (RPR) next month and plan to take it easy (parks, pools, hotel amenities) rather than rush through everything in a day or two. We plan on seeing everything, and riding everything multiple times while still getting some rest - afterall it is our vacation. What off-site dinner shows would you recommend for our family (two children = 6 and 9)? How is the Pirate Dinner Adventure? Any others?

Definately Pirates. My kids have seen that show around 7 or 8 times and they love it everythime they see it. It is very interactive which my kids love.
Here are some pictures of my kids at the show.

I liked Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede. You have to eat with your hands, though, and it becomes very messy, very quickly.

Arabian nights or Dixie Stampede are good.

As mentioned above, Pirates is a fun show which we saw in 2003. At Medieval Times, you can watch knights joust while eating. Last summer, we saw Sleuth's Mystery Dinner Show which we enjoyed also.

I love to go to Sleuth's but with children the same age as the OP's, I can say that kids that age will probably be bored there.

Well, the Pirates Dinner Show was a blast! The kids loved the action, songs, games, swordfights, and the food was pretty good too! We have been to the Dixie Stampede in Myrtle Beach and really liked it, but wanted to try something different. Pirates is an excellent choice for anyone with children. It is on the pricey side, but the show is 3 hours long and there are pre-show eats as well. Just be sure to buy a refillable cup for $10 or else you'll be paying nearly $3.00 for a Coke every time you step up to the bar.

That's only during the preshow. During the actual show, the drinks are free.
Glad you had a great time! pirate:
