LADIES ONLY TRIP--Glow thread Updated with new info, post #35

Hi everybody!

Some of you may remember that I had volunteered to purchase the glow stuff that we are going to wear on our trip!

Now, before I can do that, I wanted to find out what people wanted. So I'll do a questionnaire, you can answer on this thread, and then we go from there.

So here are the questions:
1. Do you want to purchase glow stuff?
2. What do you want? Necklaces, bracelets, sticks, something else?
3. Do you care what colors?
4. Do you want it for every night of the trip?

I've decided to purchase them online. It is a little bit cheaper to get it in the dollar store, but the dollar store nearby has a very limited selection. When you look at the stuff on the 2 websites, you'll be blown away! And if we use Oriental Trading, I'm a regular customer, so I get emails for free shipping.

So here are the websites:
Glow Universe (which a fellow Ladies Dis-er gave to me, but I can't remember who. thank you!) I've never really looked at this one. The prices look low, but I don't know what they charge for shipping & handling.

Oriental Trading: I order stuff from them all the time. We probably won't have to pay shipping & handling, so the price for the item is the price we will pay.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to look closer at the Glow Universe site--thanks TinksPixieDust :thumbsup2--just to get an idea of what they have.

i like the green, yellow, blue and pinkish/red colors the best.
sometimes the blue colors dim out faster.

i like the tri bacelet ones like i buy at the dollar tree. and like the necklaces but not the big fat ones.

i prefer the thinner bands rather than the wider bands for the bracelets and necklaces.


if not many are ordering, would it be cheaper for us to go to dollar stores?
if i can't get the order with the group for a decent price, i may have to pass on it. i plan on the glows for 14 nights.

YES !! I love glow stuff ! I would prefer the kind you wear, I would like any color and i'm not sure if I want it for every night or not, I will go with the majority on that ! :teeth:

I've got to get my act together--here it is June 1st, and I haven't really done anything yet. I'll do some research this weekend. Glow Universe seems really good and I think I'll be ordering from them.

I know we're at different resorts, and we're all not really meeting up. Does anyone have any ideas I can get the stuff to everyone? Do you want me to mail it to before the trip?

I'm thinking about passing my FBracelets out at the CP Breakfast. I think most everyone will be there. And if not I will make arrangements with the others to meet up somewhere specific to get them. Those are my thoughts anyway. :teeth:

A quick glow stuff update. I got the new Oriental Trading catalog, and I saw this:

I did the math, and that would be 80 cents a piece. So if you want a necklace & a bracelet, that's $1.60 a day/$6.40 for 4 days. Not too bad. I think this might be the way to go. If it's OK with everybody, I'd like to ask for the money upfront, that way I know how much to order. (I'll probably order extras anyway). What do you guys think? I'll pm everyone next week.

Well, I've got bad news.

I ordered that 25 bracelets/25 necklaces glow stuff from Oriental Trading, just to get a head start on it. Well, they came today--and it is in one VERY large tube. I don't think these will work--there is no way I can carry all of that in my luggage. And my dollar store has nothing. Good thing I didn't PM everyone yet, asking for money!

If someone has a great dollar store nearby, and wants to do this for the group, let me know. It doesn't look like I will be able to do it. Sorry, ladies! :blush:

i saw kat offered to help out but you posted they are fragile and might not make the plane trip.

I know a few others in FL have offered to help and I'm offering my help as well. I'd be happy to supply a hom efor them until the trip. Usually the tubes they come in are pretty strong so I think that it would survive a mail trip. You're choice sweety but we are happy to help out. I also am very thankful for everything you have done. :hug:

i went to the grocery store after church today and they had glow necklaces of different colors on sale. 10 for $10.

i picked up 5 of them and got colors of 2 red, 1 blue, 1 green and 1 yellow.


the green and yellow glow the best.

later this week i will try the dollar store for the glow bracelets

Party City has some but I can't remember how much. If I have time this week I will run by to check them out. Seems like they had a package of 25.
