On Feb 16th I joined Weight Watcher and set a goal to lose 20 pounds by my Disney vacation (leaving in 6 days :woohoo: ). Not only did I meet that, but passed it by 2.2 pounds for a total weight loss of 22.2 pounds...and 6 days of dieting to go!!!! I'm so excitied!!!! Now my worry....how do I keep it off while in the World???? I'm leaving my safe zone at home and going on vacation for 12 days....and then coming back to be matron of honor in a wedding only six weeks later!!! I need to get into the beautiful strapless dress the bride picked out!!! The only good thing is that we are staying at OKW/SSR and will have full kitchen facilities. I ordered from wegoshop.com and got all sorts of low-fat breakfast things to stock my fridge with while we are there...but what about all the ice cream, funnel cakes, buffet dinners, etc., etc., etc........??????? I worked hard to lose it...any tips for keeping it off while on vacation????

One thing you will notice is that your stomach is also smaller - not just you. It won't be able to really hold, without you feeling absolutely miserable, all the food you could have eaten on a prior trip. That helped me out a lot. The best thing that I have done, and I have still gained up to 5 pounds because I wasn't really careful, is I had the ice cream but I only limited myself to one the whole trip. The buffets I made sure that I took small portions and ate those slowly. If I was still hungry after sitting for about 5-10 minutes after my plate was empty then I'd go back for a little more protein. I also made sure I ate a big salad plate at the buffets before eating the regular food. That REALLY helped. Also if you can, pack a piece of fruit to have as a snack if you get hungry throughout the day - we always take a backpack so that's not hard for me to do.

Just eat like you are eating now - you probably have an idea of what a portion size of something is, it's not too hard to guage that. The biggest hardest part is making yourself stick to it and doing it while you are on vacation. It can be done and I'm sure you'll do awesome. Just don't deprive yourself of anything - just share with someone or take smaller bites so you at least get the taste.

Have a great time! And congrats!

I just wanted to congratulate you on reaching your goal! That is wonderful :Pinkbounc

Regarding vacation, I think that Cruise04 gave excellent advice. It will be easier to eat tempting things in moderation as your stomach is smaller. If you have new clothes to wear in your new smaller size, that will be a good indicator if you start to slip up a little bit. If your clothes feel a little tight just really focus on your fruits, veggies and water; avoiding other more tempting foods.

Truly I think things will go very well for you. Again, congratulations on a wonderful accomplishment!!

Tricia, funny that you mention about the new clothes...I just bought about three new pairs of shorts the other day in my new size for vacation. I also figured this was a good way of keeping myself in check!!! Cruise, you're right about my stomach not being able to handle what it used to. I just said to my husband the other day that buffets are no fun any more because I fill up right away!!! I just have to make sure I fill up with all the right foods first, and then maybe only taste the "bad" ones. I think all of the walking will help too. I also made a pact with my exercise crazy sister (who is joining us on vacation) to make me use the gym at the resort or at least walk or swim on non-park days. Maybe if I exercise enough, I can actually have my sundae guilt-free!!!

Water, water, water!! Making sure you drink enough throughout the day will help you a lot. Remember not to give up what you want for life (to stay fit and healthy) for what you want at the moment.

I have been working at losing weight also, and one thing I found that works great for me without depriving myself is I allow my DS 7 to order desert with the understanding that I get a bite or two. I still get my sweet tooth satisfied without eating the whole pie!! :rotfl2:

Congratulations on your weight loss! Having recently acheived a pre-vacation weight loss goal myself, I'd like to say that you shouldn't feel guilty about enjoying a treat on your trip! I say you've worked very hard and you will be very active while at WDW so you can indulge yourself!

On a recent cruise, I gained back a few of the 20# pounds I worked to lose before the trip, but it wasn't a crisis. I went into the trip with the attitude that I wasn't going to fret about food and I didn't! I wasn't a glutton, I exercised good portion control, etc. but I didn't deny myself anything that struck my fancy either. I came home, reigned myself back in, and because my body is now "trained" to better process food with my new eating habits and increase of muscle mass from exercise, the pounds melted right back off when I got myself back on track.

To me, a small setback to work off upon returning home was well worth being able to enjoy myself and reward myself while vacationing. Just my two cents!

:woohoo: WOW!!! Congrats on your weight loss :woohoo: :woohoo:

I think everyone has had wonderful ideas on the eating on vacation. I have really no advice on this seeing how we will be going on our vacation in one month. :cloud9:

I think you sure deserve a treat or two on your vacation. I hope you have a wonderful time.
