I've never actually seen what one of the tenders look like. Does anyone have a picture of one? I can't get a mental image of how big one is and how many people are allowed onboard at one time.

It can really vary. I will try to find a picture, but we used the Kon Tiki party barge on St. Thomas for our Disney Cruise and we used our actual lifeboats on our Enchantment of the Seas cruise to tender into Grand Cayman.

This link will bring you to some pictures. Some are of the lifeboat. There is a white one bottom row, second from left that looks like one we also used in St. Thomas.

Here is a photo of one of the tenders in Cozumel the second photo shows the tender next to the ship in the background.

goodness...how do you BOARD that thing??? I would be scared to fall in the water! And knowing me, I would and for the rest of the cruise, I'd be known as the one that fell in the water while boarding the tender! Oy oy oy!

This is the tender we were on coming back from Cozumel. It was roomy & larger then I have been on before easy to get on & off. Sometimes they use the life boats from the ship which are small.

Wow, thanks for the pictures, that is not at all what I was picturing.

Every ship I have been on used their larger lifeboats as tenders.
Those lifeboats are much bigger than they look, I don't recall the numbers on the small lifeboards, but I seem to recall the capacity painted on the Disney lifeboats was at least 150 people.

These are the boats we used in Cozumel in April. We were on the first Magic cruise after Wilma. We saw Royal Carribean and Norweigan using lifeboats for tenders but Disney did not do that in Grand Caymen or Cozumel. The picture also shows some of the damage that still remains to be repaired on the pier
