Now that our flights out of Hartford are cancelled we are flying out of LaGuardia. It's an early am flight and we don't want to fight the traffic on a fri am. So we decided to stay the night before at a hotel near LGA. There are several across the street including Courtyard (got a ressie there for $199!), Marriott, Crowne, Clarion. I hate spending $199 and am thinking of trying through Priceline. My question is has anyone stayed at a hotel near LGA and /or used Priceline to book it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know the rate seems high but I don't think I would fool around too much with Priceline or anything where you don't know which hotel you are booking. The hotels near LGA are okay but you might be taking your chances with some other hotels in the area (some guests are renting by the hour if you know what I mean).

Thanks Pam. I decided not to go with Priceline but booked Clarion instead of $125/night. I have heard good things about it. Any experience with Clarion?

I think you'd be better off with the big hotel chains (like Clarion). But, Pam is right, I certainly wouldn't book a small motel near LGA.

I would suggest the
Ramada Plaza (http://www.travelnow.com/hotels/hotelinfo.jsp?cid=26954&hotelID=196366&city=new_york&stateProvince=NY&country=USA) at special rate of $99.95 for the dates I checked. It is a brand new hotel from what I hear - built in 2001.

I checked Ramada Inn and the rates is $149.95 for a Quad. Thanks for the suggestion.

If you are driving did you ask for a rate to "stay & park" sometimes it works out that the room is about free with the week of parking added in. Just a thought....

Thanks Dreamer for the tip. We will have someone drive us in. BTW, Clarion doesn't have long term parking although they had a pkg that included 4 days parking at Avistar.
