I called the Special Reservation number last night to request a fridge & sharps box. I was informed that they no longer have the sharps boxes. Then, I told her I needed the fridge, my DD is diabetic & needs it for her insulin. The fridge was reserved. Later I called the reg ressie # to check on something else. She says & you have a fridge reserved pay at check in. I explained it is for medical reasons & so she fixed it so I don't have to pay.

Can you bring/pack your own sharps box? Can you get a disposable one, or will you have to bring the used supplies home? There must be a sharps box available at one of the supply places in one of the medical supply links in the stickies on this board!

I tend to just use a water bottle. It works fine.

You didn's say where you were staying - I'm assuming it must be a value resort because the others have refrigerators in the rooms, without charge.
You should be able to get a needle container to bring with you from the pharmacy where you buy herr needles. They may charge for them or might provide them as a service to customers. Places like Walgreen's (http://www.walgreens.com/store/productlist.jsp?CATID=304070&navAction=jump&navCount=0) do carry sharps containers, but might carry them only behind the desk in the pharmacy or on line.
Also, the sharps containers at WDW were obtained from Housekeeping and it may very well be that Special Services no longer is involved in the process at all, so they just think that the sharps containers are no longer available.
Are there any readers out there who are at WDW right now and could check with Housekeeping?

SueM-Thanks. If not, we'll just use a soda bottle. That's what we use at home. When we went on the cruise, I had told them she was diabetic & needed a specific meal time, but never mentioned a sharps container. They had one in the room when we got there. We had the best service ever.

My sister, Joanne, who is now feeling much better and is going with me to WDW for a few days in October for a family grand gathering. She uses IV infusion 12 hours a day. I reserved a refrigerator for her IV meds. I guess she can also use a soda bottle for her needles. Will the medical frig hold several IV bags. We are staying at Pop.
She does rely on the IV meds for nutrients, but trys to eat a little bit each day. She has a frozen stomach as a result of a pseudo lymphoma found 9 years ago. It has taken her a long time to admit to her disability and to agree to the IV infusion. She has also been accepted to SSI. This was a very hard thing for her to accept.
Anyway she is feeling better, and wants to come with me in early Oct when I stay 3 nights at Pop for a short family grand gathering. We won't get the food plan but I will use my DDE card if she wants to eat at a table restaurant or even at the Pop food court. I am so happy that she feels well enough to go to WDW. Its been 10 years since she last stayed at WDW at WL. Her son is getting married Sept 16th in NJ and I think she will need a rest after the wedding anyway.
