Recipe for a good challenge:
1 month
At least 1 pen
1 Food Journal
Time every day to write what you eat.

Instructions:
Journal your food choices everyday. Work hard at it while making the best choices you can. Slip up days are allowed-who doesn't have them? Don't make them a habit, though, or this recipe will burn. Put in a place where you'll remember to write every day and do this for 31 days. Enjoy!

This is a great challenge! Ive been using fitday.com for just about 3-3.5 years now except when on vacations. We're home until June 30th so its a good month for a food journal challenge. Count me in! thanks

Ok. When I started this journey I journaled everything and put it in Fitday to get my totals each day. Since I started back to work though I do good to write down most of what I eat each day. Usually I forget to put in the little snacky candy junk (which is the most detrimental to the diet). I have not kept my fitday food log current in almost a month.

I am ready to get fully back on track! I will journal Everything I put into my mouth and I will log it on fitday to track my calories and fat!

Thanks for hosting this challenge! Committing to it here really helps to keep me on track!

Hello all new challengers. I used the Fitday thing today. I was shocked. I work around food (ice cream, sandwiches, quick foods type stuff). A shredded chicken sandwich-334 cals?! Holy cow! Next time, I think I'll pass.

I am so far 1/31!

Sparkpeople is a diet website (www.sparkpeople.com) that you can join for free. You can track your food, water and exercise minutes. There are 4 "stages" that you move through, establishing healthy eating habits over time. The food traking is great because it figures the calories for you- you just enter the # of servings.
You also enter the # of minutes of you exercise (cardio and strength) and it will figure how many calories you have burned. Then, you get to earn points for various things you do. I have been very bad about updating my stuff there, but I have to lose some weight, so I am renewing my commitment. I would go back to weight watchers, but I cannot afford it right now.

Thanks for the warm welcome. This challenge is the only thing that got me back to where I should be....journaling to monitor my intake! I went back to fitday, and started there. And thank you for the link to sparkpeople, it looks like a great site. I used to go to WW but the funds are low, as we are saving for our December trip, and paying for graduate school.

Slightly OT, did anyone see Oprah today w/Dr Oz? The woman who did the 90 day makeover looked fantastic, very motivating. I am on a mission to get rid of all hydrogenated oil products now. We certainly do not have as many as were featured, but my dd is addicted to goldfish crackers, and my dh LOVES Ritz. Time to get the health food alternatives I guess. So much for saving money!

I joined fitday and completed my first day.. :) I ate 1374 calories today. I guess thats a little high, but this will make me really see what I'm putting me into my body.

I'm now 2/31. Today I had 30 points (it was free day) and 1400 calories. This week I only used 12 flex points! Too bad I can't exercise and the scale is showing that.

I'm 3/31. I did not have a good eating day today. In fact, I used 11 flex points in one day! That is almost as many as I used all week last week! Oh well, tomorrow is a new day and I still have 24 fp left. I also used about 1800 calories. Wwaaayy too many.

I am at 3/31. I've done ok so far this week--the journaling keeps me honest. When I think about "cheating", I always think, "I am NOT going to write this down." If I won't write it down, then I won't let myself eat it. At least I'm more conscious of my choices now.

Keep up the great journaling, everyone! TigerCheer2009--I would've been shocked at the calories in a shredded chicken sandwich, too! :confused3

Well I did good on Tuesday, wrote down everything, but yesterday I did horrible. I have been so good watching what I eat and yesterday I couldn't stop eating. Oh well today is a new day.. :goodvibes I just don't know what has gotten into me...

I am 5/31. I have shaved about 700 calories from my daily diet since the 1st. I had 2500 calories :sad2: that day, but today I was down to around 1800! I would have been even better if i hadn't had half a bean burrito with my nachos at Taco Bell. I think journalling has helped, because I don't like to have to write things down, so I eat less. :o Plus, I am really trying to limit the sweets. If I have any, I try to only have 1 a day. And, the new Turtle Chex Mix is awesome- it is very sweet, and 2/3 of a cup is only 150 calories.

I am at 6/31. The weekend kind of messed me up- I didn't write anything saturday, but I did write down everything except dinner Friday and Monday. But, I am doing better than I have in a while.

I'm getting much better as time goes on with the journaling thing. It's actually not hard for me-it just takes some time designation.

I finished day 10! I went out for drinks with coworkers and ended up using 9 flex points, but it is the first day of a new week, so I'm not worried about it!

Sorry that I haven't been keeping up to date over here. :blush: I have been doing my journaling for the most part. I am really glad for this challenge, I think twice before just letting my journal slide.

I have not finished logging yesterdays food yet cause Dh cooked and I'm not sure what all was in it :bitelip:

I have done my journaling on fitday and my journal here on WISH 15 days so far. Some of the "off" days I did log my food, but didn't total up the calories/fat on Fitday. That is part of my goal so I didn't count them.

Just came back from vacation in Lancaster, Pa. I did bring a laptop but there wasn't a wireless connection (as it said in the brochure). So, I enjoyed myself in moderation but didn't journal.

I am back on the wagon today, and so far I am 18/31. It is just a miracle I am back on track.
