DH and I are registered. We will be walking. This will be his first half (oh ya, I am the voice of experience, NOT, but I did walk WDW in Jan, and Columbus in April). It should be interesting because DH is 6'3" and to keep up with his fast walk I have to run! Come on everybody, the course is supposed to be gorgeous!
Hope to see you there!!

I would LOVE to do this race. The course sounds amazing! It is too close to DL 1/2 for me to do this year but I hope to do it next year :thumbsup2 Good luck to all of you doing it!

I figured I would breath some life into this now that Minnie is done. I changed the countdown of weeks remaining.

Hi! Still no computer, sneaking onto Dh's this am to check in.
This will be my first half - I am so excited!!! I decided to walk since I some how injured myself r/w. I see the orthopod today.
I do my first official training walk this afternoon.
How many of us are there for the chicago half?

Hi Maggie!
I know Liz is registered, and DH and myself. We will be walking.
Lily, have you registered yet??
Anybody else? I know several Dis'ers were thinking about it....now that the Minnie is over let's get thinking about Chicago. I hear the course is beautiful, and John Bingham is such an inspiration. Plus it is good preparation for the DL half.
Count me in!!! :wave2: Thanks for the reminder, Lily, 14 weeks! Coming from out of town, I have the hotel booked. Does anyone have the course map? From the website it's changed, but I can't find the new route. Not that it matters! :teeth:

Week 1 steps accomplished, enjoying a rest day today, and then I'll be ready for week 2!
Oh, DH's name is Jim. He very occasionally lurks on the Dis.

Hi ladies!
How is training going? Am I right that we are looking at 4 miles this week?
Well, I have my computer back, made it to the orthopod, and started physical therapy! They aren't sure if the hip pain is from the hip or hamstring and are treating both. They said that if it improves, it doesn't really matter which started it. They said no running or fast walking for now.
I won't be setting any speed records with my right hip problem, but am very happy to be walking. For now I am keeping it between 17-19min miles. I know that I can walk faster, but am heeding the PT's advice. I still have plenty of time to allow for healing and should be fine for the half.
Hope all is well..

Hi Lily. Welcome home! I didn't get my 4 mile LW in last Saturday, I was down in very southern Indiana for my nephew's HS graduation party. Traveled on Friday, partied on Saturday, traveled home on Sunday...kind of messed up my routine. But I am back on track and looking forward to Chicago.

:wave2: Hi Team!! :wave2:
I've finished week 5 of the MFM walking program. I had planned to walk yesterday with a co-worker, but it was stormy, so I ended up doing my 3 miles on the TM. DH has been super swamped at work and hasn't been able to get his steps in, hopefully this week will be a little better for him. I am looking forward to Chicago!!
Have a great week everyone!

Well, I finished my 6 mile LW yesterday because Saturday was so busy. So now it is on to Week 7! Got new shoes that I really like so far, and a new fanny pack with a little more room since I know I will be carrying DH's prescription sunglasses in addition to a few other essentials. I hope everyone is doing well!

Pat, thanks for keeping up here. I've been plodding along slowly. Not sure if it will be a go for me now. I seem to have developed an issue with my knee. I'm hoping it is a passing thing.
Keep on keepin' on everyone.

Time flies when you are having fun :cool1:
Only 48 days til the Chicago half
I usually do all of my walking on the TM, but this last Saturday was so beautiful I headed to the forest preserve....I thought my garmin was in my new fanny pack, but it wasn't - darn! I am so used to knowing exactly how far and how fast I am going. I think I ended up walking a little more than 6 miles.
I did make sure I had my garmin Sun AM - I walked with my DD21, at the Relay for Life. We had the 2 - 4AM shift! We walked a little over 5 miles in 2hrs, I kept telling her she was a slow-poke! We did have fun though!
I am now starting week 8 of training, I don't know where the time has gone!

Way to go ladies!
I wish I was telling you about my training, but as you know, I am out of commision.
I still would love to meet with you guys when you come for the race.
Who knows, maybe I could walk the 5k by then. :confused3
Of course, I will not push it. I really want to be physically healthy to do the WDW half.
Keep up the great training!

Wow! I can't believe it is 5 weeks away!
It is not looking good that I will be able to go about now. Too many things have come to interfere with my trip. I'm still stepping out as best as I can. I am trying to put steps in at least some.
The most major thing is the latest car repair that has taken away the $$s I would be using for the trip. Sigh. I guess it is not to be for me this trip, but I still would love to keep thinking I'm going.

 Hi to all the CDCer's. I received the e-mail update on the new course. Not too familiar with Chicago, but it looks fun! I'm sad to hear of all the woes!!!! :guilty:
Maggie, how is your hip? I hope you can start training again, soon.
Lily, is your knee better? I hope things turn for the better and you can make it.
Pat, how is your training going? A couple more weeks of high miles and then it's time to taper!!!!
With the summer heat, it's hard for me to keep motivated. Last week, I barely ran... but, I'm starting fresh tomorrow!!!!! :thumbsup2 We'll see!
Keep up the good work!

Hey!
I have my 6 mile LW tomorrow, not really liking the heat and humidity, and I hate the idea of getting up early on a day off, but I think that is what I am going to have to do. I can't believe it is almost here.

Sara and Pat, I am glad that you are making the steps happen! I WISH I would be there to see the new course.
Take lots of pics and let me know all about it. I am taking steps, just not for CDC this time.
Keep on keepin' on. You are doing great!
