We are going to be eating breakfast in the room most days. We are on the dinning plan even with sharing points there is still not enough to do breaksfast every day. I don't mind buying it some days oop. Any suggestion on what to bring from home? We will be staying at the all star movies and as far as I know you have to rent a fridge.

We usually eat breakfast in our room to save time and money (whether we are on the dining plan or not). Here are some ideas from my DD6:
1. You could bring Rice Krispies cereal (one of her fav. cereals.)
2. Bagels (yummy) :goodvibes and bread for toast. You can use the toaster and the microwave in the food court.
3. Fruit rollups or fresh fruit.
4. Frosted Flakes and Fruit Loops.
5. Poptarts (don't use in toaster at food court-can only use microwave.)
This is from me-DM46-My mom66 and I usually have cereal in the room along with a bagel or toast. I bring my DD her bagel and she eats it in the room and usually finishes it on the way to the parks, I also bring along a ziplock with dry cereal (she doesn't like milk with cereal). If you have to bring the food with you, it will limit your choices. If you can get to a store, you can pick up a few things-like peanut butter-good on toast and bagels and pb&j sandwiches and you can pick up some fruit-great to carry for snack too  . How about dried fruit or trail mix? Our local ranch market, Henry's, has a huge selection of trail mixes you can buy from bulk bins.
Like I said, we always eat in the room in the morning and with the DDP I don't want to "waste" my credits on something we can do for pretty cheap on our own. Have a great time :Pinkbounc

One year we brought down one of my daughters small suicases and packed it with snacks and breakfast items..we carried it on the plane. We packed Pop tarts, a bunch of those small boxes of assorted cereals, fruit snacks, and graham crackers..we had more but can't remember.
Whats good about the small boxes of cerreal is that you can take it to go with you..my kids just like to eat it from the box without milk.

We also did a suitecase filled with snacks / breakfasts. We brought small boxes of cereal, disposable spoons and bowls, cereal bars (my dh likes the fruit loops ones), things that were easy to carry. I also brought South Beach bars for myself - lots of protien to get to started in the day! Have a great trip!

I brought boxes of breakfast cereal bars and those individual plastic containers of applesauce and mandarin oranges for my DD and I to eat in the room before we headed out to the parks.

The list of foods sounds really high in empty sugar/carb calories - is there anything out there that has more protein in it? The South Beach bars sound like a good choice, but I'm always worried that my kids and I will get a sugar crash after cereal and fruit snacks for breakfast. Bagels have some fat, right?
We've bought milk and kept it in a small cooler, but the ice bucket should work for a quart as well. Would string cheese and cream cheese keep OK on ice? Too bad they don't make prewrapped bacon (just quoting from "If I Had a Million Dollars" ;) )

The milk has protein! :thumbsup2 String cheese is a good source of protein(we kept ours iced).
You can also make oatmeal/cream of wheat with hot water from coffeemaker. My kids like to dip apples and bananas in PB. (I saw little containers of Jif at Kroger in 4 packs.)

Are you flying? If not, you can bring a cooler to use in the room. We always bring a cooler and fill it before we leave. Then when we get there we just use the ice from the machines. We bring yogurt, milk, yoo-hoo's. We also bring the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Milk and Cereal Bars. We bring dry cereal (even if we do not have milk)....we like eating it dry. There's always Pop Tarts but I dont like bringing those because they are so packed with sugar and stuff. There's those oatmeal bites things that you can buy. You could always bring some fruit.....apples, bananas, etc. We bring applesauce too.

We do cereal, cereal bars, and poptarts. We also buy bananas, apples, pears, other fresh fruit. We try to make it something the kids can take in the backpack or eat in the car so we don't waste a lot of time when the crowds are smaller and it isn't 10000 degrees outside.

Pop tarts, cereal bars, muffins. Stuff that is pre-packaged works for us.

Peanut butter...for bread, bagels, toast, saltines, cheese crackers. Tiny jars or little plastic things of jelly. We brought cereal and disposable bowls, it worked great for us.
Good luck and enjoy!

I just saw a commercial on TV for Hot Pockets. They have a new biscuit hot pocket w/ eggs, bacon and cheese. If you're driving I thought you could pack these on dry ice.

I bring a variety of cereal bars. This works great. Sometimes we just grab and go. If we are running late we just eat on the bus. If you are going to have a frig and have extra room in your case I would bring some juiceboxes also.

Haven't tried this yet, but an idea just popped into my head...
Packets of oatmeal.. (my husband likes the low sugar.. ones)
You can run the water through the coffee maker in your room.

DH would go down to the food court at POR while I got kids ready (DS usually went with him) and filled our mugs, picked up some fruit & milk using snack credits, brought it back to the room. We brought small cereal boxes, granola bars, etc. But we played by ear - sometimes ate a bigger breakfast, sometimes a bigger lunch. We try to space out our TS meals - dinner one night, lunch the next day, breakfast the next morning. It's so much food even with CS that we were never hungry enough to need 3 whole meals. Breakfast is the easiest one to "snack" through, but we found that if we stopped and ate a good breakfast, we only needed a snack at lunch.

Oh great idea!!! I don't know why I never thought of that! Thanks!! Dh and I love oatmeal. We'd still have to bring cereal and muffins for the kids since they don't like oatmeal but that will be perfect for dh- one of the few things he doesn't mind eating first thing in the morning and it'll save us a "snack" stop only an hour after everyone else has already eaten!

Now that I have went I will give advice on how we did it. Not sure if it will work for everyone but worked for us. We would refill the mugs either my mom or me when we got up she got coffee, i started off with coffee and then switched to ice tea. I hate their coffee. then get ready and get the kids up. I bought at the gift shop donut holes, my mom brought poptarts, and little sunny d's. We would have that in the morning and head to the parks. refill the mugs up before getting on the bus. We usually got to the park about 9:00. do a couple of rides or shows and then have an early lunch about 11.

Yes, we did oatmeal, with water from the coffee pot and it does work well!

Thanks so much for this post :cool1: I had vaguely heard about a microwave at the POP but wasn't sure if it was only for purchases made there. This is the 1st I've heard a toaster mentioned and I am thrilled! Is it one of those big commercial rotating ones? I'm just wondering if there is usually a long line to use either?

I am not sure that the values have cofee makers in the rooms. We did this for grits and hot chocolate at WL and it worked great.
We are not really big breakfast eaters at WDW because we eat big dinners later at night. Our plan for our Jan trip when we will be on the dinning plan is to get our desert to go some nights and have it for breakfast the next am.
We also found that when we do take breakfast items that low carb/high proten tend to work well for us. Cheese cubes, peanuts or peanut butter tend to stick with you longer and we feel better in the parks.
I think you might be surprised that you do have more CS credits than you think. We often share a CS meal or two and the breakfast platters are really large. Use the desert for a muffen and feed at least two people.
Have a blast.

:cool1: We like making a continental breakfast like we had in Europe. Lunch meat, Rye breads, Nut Butters, Fresh & Dried Fruit, and Cheese. We keep the food that spoils in the ice chest or refrigerator. :stir:

I was reading the thread and I agree with you on the food choices...this is a fact statement and not a judgement call but most people do not read the labels of what they eat. That said, Pop tarts and fruit loops are not going to get the kids up and going for a morning of running around. I shipped down a box full of stuff for us...
Nuts...almonds, walnuts, peanuts
peanut butter - a small container
organic jelly..all natural...no high fructose corn syrup
pretzels
triscuits
Cliff bars..organic with protein and carbs
Be bars at Target...10g of protein and good
whole wheat, whole grain bread
Cheerios
buy apples..fiber and vitamins
bananas..higer in sugar but kids love them
whole grain mini bagels or mini pitas
mozerella cheese sticks (buy them ...can't ship unless you want dry ice)
skim milk
Please, please read the labels on the bars...the south beach bars, I think, have alot of stuff that people without a chemistry degree can not pronounce, let alone know what it is. Just because it says "all natural" doesn't mean its good for you...corn syrup and shortening are "all natural" but NOT good for you or kids.....as for processed "quick meals" like the pocket items...I'm not really sure what they are about either. I just don't see how most people are able to keep going and going on some of the current food choices made. Real "all natural foods" are good, cheap, and body friendly. Good Luck
