OK. I am going thru the existing threads and the others I have found to post the results.
WARNING: ALL BIDS ON PRICELINE ARE FINAL. Once you hit the buy my hotel room if they accept your bid you own it! So if you get the Holiday Inn, Ramada Inn, or any of the other 2.5 star hotels in that area you are stuck You can't call and ask for your money back.
WARNING TWO: If Disney and the other outlets (Expedia etc) are showing the All Stars sold out, I would assume you won't get them. For several days where people are bidding I noticed that either things were sold out or at least a few of the values were sold out.... In most cases hotels will not release inventory to PL if they have hopes of selling it at a higher rate...
Also, I do not expect that you will be able to add dining etc. to this deal. I have no idea on ME. Maybe someone will find that out.
Feel free to add
All of the below were 2.5* bids in the Disney area on Priceline. If we get anything else I will modify!

That's the problem with PL, some of the hotels in a category are more desirable than many of the hotels in the next category.
Many guests might prefer a Disney value resort to some of the 3* properties.
There is a big difference between staying at the Holiday Inn and the All Stars.
I'm surprised Disney didn't just release the rooms for AP, FL resident or CM discounted rates.
I wonder if Disney had a large group cancel at the last minute.

I thought about the group idea, but if you look at the range of dates it doesn't quite make sense.
My theory was that I was only booking for one night. And at $36 if I really hated the resort I would just "waste" the cash. I don't know if I would have been brave enough to hit that button for the week long stay!
Now if they ever released four stars or resorts....that would really be fun.

Even the slightest chance that it might be Nikki Bird would be enough to keep me from submitting the bid! We stayed there once and were given the worst room/location of any hotel we've ever been to. We were assigned a room in the section that faces the front parking lot/road...plus we had the room with the exercise equipment on the other side of our bathroom (everytime someone used the treadmill we would hear this thump, thump, thump as the belt went around). They were really nice about it and comp'd us one night but the experience was enough that we would never stay there again. I realize this is probably an isolated incident as I've read threads were people have really enjoyed their stay...to each his own, right?

I'd think Disney could just offer 50% discount, 100% prepay no changes rate. Disney could even assign the resort at the last minute. Just let the guests reserve a value, moderate or deluxe.
I don't see how using PL benefits Disney.
I know this isn't really happening but I wonder if PL could just book a few rooms with Disney, at rack rate, to add some excitement to the zone. The difference betwen the bid price (including PL fee) and rack rate for a few nights may be cheap promotion.

You know, I've been thinking about this and it may not be Disney that is offering the rooms...it might be another travel company (Expedia/Travelocity/Etc.) that had to contract for "x" amount of rooms and needs to move the inventory. To me that seems a lot more plausible then Disney offering it and getting AP holders upset that they aren't being offered the rooms at the reduced rate.

I don't see how using PL benefits Disney.
I'm not sure I do either. They've just gone through a period of adjustment, training people not to expect the ultra-deep discounts of 01 and beyond. This seems to put them back to square one, unless they believe that most people won't know about these rates, and so most people won't come to expect them.
For any other vacation destination, I might buy that, but it looks like all of DIS found out about this within about 30 seconds of the first posted win on biddingfortravel. I'll be surprised if it isn't mentioned in mouseplanet's WDW update on Monday.

$36 or $39 for an All Star room is a great price but hey I think Disney's regular price for the All Star rooms are wonderful.
I can afford to stay at any of Disney's resorts.
I travel several times a year and often stay at 4 star resorts so Disney's Deluxe resorts and Mods are just another hotel/motel room to me.
The All Stars have the most Disneyish theming and that is where I want to be!
Disney's value and mod resorts are a total bargain. You get so many perks (Disney theming, Disney transportation, and EMH)
Any of Disney's resort guests (even those staying at a value or mod) are allowed to shop, dine, use the transportation or spa facilities at any of the Disney Resorts. (Of course pool hopping is not allowed.)
I just want to say congrats to all of you who have gotten a priceline deal on
an All Star room.
I hope you enjoy your stay at the All Stars as much I enjoy my stays.
Have fun at Disney!

I'd agree EXCEPT the PL regular booking engine doesn't offer Disney hotels and I'm not sure the competing services would give PL excess inventory.
Most of the reservations seem to be within 45 days. Could these be travel insurance claims? Disney trying to stick the insurance company with the cost of the rooms, or at least the cancellation penalty.

Of course there is the other side. Disney is not getting phone calls etc trying to book the rooms so they don't have those expenses. If they thought the rooms were not going to sell at the current rates releasing them this way sells them at a Discount without making Disney do the work.
If Disney did what Lewis suggested once then for the next 2 years on a daily basis there would be 1000 phone calls going "do you have that last minute non-refundable discount program today" :rotfl2: (See the codes/ rates boards)

I also don't recommend the Nikki for your stay. I had a friend stay there about 6 months ago. She will never go back there. Even for $36 a night it isn't worth it.

I'd only offer that kind of deal as web only deal. Other hotels offer pre-paid, non refundable rates as a web only deal.
I'm not sure I ever suggested doing this as a last minute deal but Disney could. I just thought offering a 50% discount in exchange for pre-payment no changes might work better than all the codes and all the guests changing their reservation.

I wonder if...
it gets people that think on-site is too expensive to try it and gets them hooked on the "magic"? :wizard:
it gets people on the property, then they feel compelled to buy tickets, souvenirs, meals, etc?

I just confirmed 5/21 - 5/25 for $36 at All Star Sports!! I originally bid for 5/21-5/22 (not a big risk taker  ), when PL said ALL STAR SPORTS, opted to add two nights. Then went back in with separate bid for final night of our stay. Hopefully the two separate reservations won't mean we have to move rooms mid-stay. SO EXCITED!!! :cool1:

This makes more since to me than any of the other suggestions. Disney and Expedia have a large enough client base that if they offered All Star at that price they would sell out. JMHO but there is no reason for those two or the like to offer AS on PL at that price. Plus it doesn't sound like there are tons of rooms available and the booking window is relatively short. Some entrepreneur may have bought these "insured vacancies" for pennies on the dollar and hooked up PL to market them. If this scenario is at all accurate it's ingenious :)

I'd think Disney could just offer 50% discount, 100% prepay no changes rate.
I think that would be a great idea, but if you look at the fits people were throwing over the Best Rate program, it probably wouldn't last long......
I know that the BRP was specifically for AP holders, but there were people who didn't have AP's complaining about it.... :rolleyes2
FWIW, I think that Priceline was a great option for Disney because this way, CRO CM's won't have to deal too much with guests getting angry about the no refund/no change/no cancellation policy, they can just point the finger at Priceline.

I already have ASMu booked at an AP rate for the 19th-23rd. I would rather stay at music..but if I could get Sports for our whole stay at that rate I would gladly cancel. I was debating retrying for the 20th-23rd b/c I could always extend either reservation one day to pick up the gap. SOOOO glad I didn't try. We had a room facing the road which was dank, sported a dirty carpet & was generally nasty, :crazy2: this was in early 2005~And it was just a tad more expensive than rack rate for the Values!

This is what we did, took the chance. We arrive on the 16th very late, like 2AM (really the 17th). We figured for a few hours sleep that first night, the Tikki Bird wouldn't hurt us, then we would move on over to ASMu (rack rate) for our one night Sat. stay before moving to OKW on Sunday. But since Amerisuites came up, we added Saturday night and the total cost for two nights is less than just the one night at ASMu. Add in the free breakfast and we are super happy. Amerisuites has good reviews too.

Did others get that option? I didn't need it, so worked for me really, but it seems others got to extend two days after.
I found that the days I originally requested were proportionate to what I was offered. When I did my original booking w/Priceline for 2 nights, I was offered another 2. When I booked 1 night, I was offered 1 additional.

Well, I tried for Saturday night June 3rd and got the Amerisuites, but that's okay with me because we will just be sleeping there since our flight is at 9am on Sunday. Their pool looks great though!
Now I know I'm straying OT and I apologize, but I was thinking of not doing the parks this time around..DS wants to go to Sea World and maybe Universal and the Pirates Dinner. All these things combined are still cheaper than the Park tickets for WDW. How far is the AS Resorts from these things? I plan to rent a car so transportation isn't a huge concern other than the fact that I have no idea how to get to ANYTHING!

When you check out just get directions from the front desk. It is very simple to get to US as well as SW. I cant help with Pirets, we have never been.

you would have been better off with Amerisuites for your entire stay...it is closer to SW and US/IOA - going the backroad ID.
anyway from AS to SW and Universal - get on Osceloa Parkway - then hop on I4. - pretty easy. not a ton of traffic this way - unless they are doing something at WWoS - then it gets very, very slow and acts more like a parking lot....

Checking Expedia has nothing to do with Priceline, you might as well cross your fingers and go for it. The inventories are not the same. Just because Expedia has rooms does not mean Priceline will or vice versa. Online travel services get their inventories by purchasing a block of fares or hotel rooms at a reduced rate directly from the airlines and hotels. They can then sell those to you for whatever price they determine.
Good luck, but don't depend on Expedia to help you make your decision
CarolA

I disagree. If the hotel is showing sold out on the major outlets your chances of getting it on a PL bid are lower. That ties consisently with what you see on www.biddingfortravel.com
Plus it is pretty apparent that the Disney agreement with the travel agencies does not allow the "to sell for whatever they determine" It pretty much has them selling at Disney deteremined prices.

Why do you keep posting misinformation? PL is not a consolidator, hotels load PL rates and inventory into the GDS system and can change the rates and room allocation at any time.
It is rare for a sold out hotel to have rooms available on PL. You may be half right, I'm not convinced Expedia is the best way to determine if a hotel is sold out.

What I don't understand is some people during the first week of May (when we'll be there) have been upgraded...I don't remember which values, maybe it was only POP, to Saratoga. Now they are practically giving rooms away. I thought that was grad time, and I would think the values would be packed.

I think part of the upgrade may have been a "selling" point for DVC???? It does appear to have been targeted and they were only offered SSR, not a mod or any other resort.

I got the option to extend a day before and the day after, not two extra days after. Did others get that option? I didn't need it, so worked for me really, but it seems others got to extend two days after.
That was the option I had gotten so I added the night before (making a total of a 2 night stay). I did want more though since my original stay at Pop was for 8 nights, so I went & tried another bid for the remaining 6 nights but didnt' get Disney

Many grads do not go & stay at Disney.. more would rather leave the country since our legal drinking age is 21 & out of the country it is like 18. At least that is what I would think. I know that May is usually a slower month & the begining of June isn't too bad. The first week or 2 of June is more us Fl Residents than others since it is just before the seasonal black out & many want to go.. Our schools here get out before Memorial Day...

OP that said "grads" didn't say grad night. I know what Grad night is, our local schools do it. Some go to Disney & some to Universal (in fact my dd's is tomorrow at Universal), but they do not stay overnight. They take charter buses up & back.. they leave on a Saturday late morning & return somewhere between 4-6am Sunday. I am not sure where in FL you live or if your's stay overnight (most do not). The parks are not open for grad night students until 7am. They would never be able to have the rides & everything ready by 8 or 9am that day for the regular guests. I want to say they use close somewhere in the vacinity of 1-2am (I think the web site may say 4am for this year). Disney has been doing grad nights for years. Most of the local schools do it & return home (no over nighters). Even if there were schools that did it, many norhtern schools do not get out until June. May is typically a slower month for Disney.

I have been debating trying to bid and take a few days (especially with dings to Orlando every couple of days through May) so I created a calendar with plans of updating til I decide since it's easier for me to look at an actual calendar - especially when debating which days are most convenient.
When I finished I thought it might help other so instead of offering to email the file, I just threw it into Frontpage and tossed it online. . . so I hope this helps others!

I'd love to know the inside scoop on how PL determines which hotel to put you in. I'd imagine that they have essentially a "list" of hotels that will accept your bid, wonder how they determine which one to give you? Is it random? Is it based on best deal? Is it based on whose minimum amount accepted more closely matches your actual bid?
I've read somewhere that Hotwire will only list one hotel for you to choose if multiple hotels have the same description (same category, same ameneties etc) and that they essentially rotate them for the cities that do have a lot of hotels with similar descriptions . . not sure how true it is. . but I'd love to know the inner workings of their "formula"

This is actually pretty normal for PL, but based on at least a few posts about adding ME etc, I think they are getting them earlier then a week before.
Based on what I have seen with other hotels, PL notifies the hotel that the room is sold, but it is a while before the transfer of the actual demo data occurs....

For some reason it looks like there's a gap for that one day. Kinda odd, a Thursday - I'd expect it from a weekend. . . but it's like there's a pretty successful string of dates leading to up that date, then a couple after. . just that one lonely day! LOL

The eternal optimist, I just bid for June 8th....got Amerisuites. Looks fine for a place to sleep but I think for the rest of the weekend I'll wait to see about an AP rate somewhere. Worse comes to worse I can always try to book Priceline for 2 more nights later....
Its a good rate, even for Amerisuites...and hey, I don't like the All Stars anyway...LOL
Hey.. look for me then.. I will be there! The Amerisuties actually is a decent place. To be honest, you cannot beat that price... it is well worth the money. No, it may not be Disney but it is a decent place & the rooms are bigger than at the All Stars ;)

You & me both! I would love to know how they figure it.. if we can do that.. then.. (if it is not radom) we really can increase our chances of a certian resort... ;) :thumbsup2 I don't think it has anything to do with a price coming close. I have seen where people have really over-bid on a resort level thinking they would increase their chance of gettting the GayLord Palms over the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista.. and they got the Wynham... they were both rated resort, but due to someone thinking that if they bid a higher amount, the better of the resorts would come up.. and it didn't. So we can rule out price.. now your turn...see what you can come up with. Maybe between the 2 of us we can "crack the mystery of Priceline" :thumbsup2

It's not a mystery. This information is old but AFAIK is still current. A hotel can list up 3 different PL rates in the GDS computer system. They use a special code so only PLs computers can access the rate. PL will take your bid, possibly add a margin although all evidence is they don't, and then book the hotel with the highest rate that's at or below your bid. Using your example the Wyndham might have a PL rate of $80, $90 and $100. Assume GP has a PL rate of $100 and $120. You bid $100 and you might get the GP or you might have just overbid by $20 and get the Wyndam. In the case of a "tie" PL has a way to distribute the winning "bids" among the hotels.
That's why sites like betterbidding have you bid low and add free rebid zones to "troll" for the lowest rate. Bidding higher gives you a chance of getting additional hotels but adds the very real risk of overbidding for a hotel you don't really want to get.
You & me both! I would love to know how they figure it.. if we can do that.. then.. (if it is not radom) we really can increase our chances of a certian resort... ;) :thumbsup2 I don't think it has anything to do with a price coming close. Hi all! Apparently this is still working late 4/30. I bid $36 for one night on 5/21 and was accepted for Music. I tried to add 5/20 and it didn't work. I rebid for 5/22 and was accepted for Sports. Tried and successfully added 5/23. Will try for an AP rate or something on the 20th.
Good luck to anyone else trying.

I think we will be OK since we only spend about 7 hours in the room anyway, the only reason I tried at all was to get a few more hours at the parks with EMH.7 hours is still WAYYYYY too long to be stuck in a room at the Nikki Bird. I stayed there several years ago and it was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at in my life !!!! It's the first time I refused to undress to sleep.....heck, I didn't even want to TOUCH the beds, shower or toilet, and the sink was falling out of the counter :duck:

Thanks for the info on the Amerisuites....I guesss I can be really glad I didn't get the Nikki Bird. We won't arrive until around midnight and will head to WDW right after we have breakfast in the morning....so its really just a place to sleep.
I hadn't mentioned...but my bid was $36 (for June 8)
Still waiting for an AP rate and I think my dh is determined to stay on site even if we have to pay rack rate for a value resort (a huge rip off imo....but rack rate at a mod isn't in the budget). We'll see. Unless I'm willing to just pay for and not use another Amerisuites night I won't be trying Priceline for this trip again.

When did you bid? It will show up in the Disney computer, but NOT immediately and it can take several days. However, people have added ME to the bid and at least one other poster has posted that Disney could see her reservation.
I still don't know if you can add someone. The poster who posted indicated Disney could not access the reservation for special requests however.
I did put my two days at Sports on ebay. (I'm at Music, won two days at Sports, couldn't move the rest of my days over to Sports, so trying to cut my losses). Basically, I'm telling everyone on ebay that asks the whole story and that I will meet them at Sports for check-in, add their names to the reservation (and they will pay extra adult charges if assessed at check-in). They will have an extra key card with my name on it and then they can enjoy their stay. (I'm at Music anyway, so walking over to Sports for a few minutes will be worth it to recoup some of my loss).

Just bid today($36) and got Amerisuites for 6/9/06. I'm actually okay with that though after looking at their website - you get to share in 3 pools and a mini-golf with some time share place so I think it will work out fine. I'm taking my 11 & 9 YO nieces to Typhoon Lagoon for their birthday presents and so just needed a place to stay the night before so we can be there bright and early! I think we'll go early on Friday so they can enjoy the pools and the mini-golf.

Not trying to be rude but I sure hope people don't follow your lead. Its such a great thing being offered I would hate for the rooms to fill up so others can make a profite and shut out those who really want the rooms.
P.S- I am not saying YOU are looking for profit, or selling them for that reason. I did see why you had to.

Did your auction end? I don't see it on ebay.
I'm going to call WDW again in a few days to see if I can add someone to the ressie and then try to get sell my ressies at ASMU and Amerisuites and recoup at least some of the money I'm out since we aren't going now.

CAROL--I don't mean to slam you but your experience is an excellent example of someone who shouldn't have used Priceline. It wasn't good enough to win an All-Star resort but you weren't happy when you won Sports instead of Music.
People who shouldn't use PL unless they'd be happy with any property in the zone and you weren't even happy with an adjacent hotel that is basically exactly the same as the resort you wanted.
What were you thinking when you bid? :confused3

After reading some posts, I am really thinking that there were many people that bid on PL & should not have. PL is not for one that wants a certian resort. It is a gamble. It is not for one that if a certian resort isn't gotten they can sell their ressie on EBAY. People, use your head .. think before you bid. What is that saying "Bet with your head, not over it".. if you weren't even sure you wanted to go, why did you bid? there are posters that bid thinking they could get a cheap Disney trip & when they didn't they want to cancel??? I was wondering if you could add the dining option to reservations made under this rate? I read some where that you may only add the dining option if you book a package. We need to buy our tickets so maybe we can add it on when we get there. Does anyone know how this works? I was just hoping to add the dining package because it seems like it would make things much easier

No, you cannot add dining... (Someone called and asked) You can add Magical Express.
Also, as Lewis and a few others have posted, PL is ONLY a good option if you can deal with what they give you. If your vacation will be ruined by the Nikki then DO NOT attempt this.....

Who are you to be determining the criteria for whether or not someone should try to get a cheap vacation on PL? LOL Whatever reason someone has for not wanting to use their ressie is really their problem, not yours and I highly doubt anyone is going to "ruin" it for you so I really wouldn't get your panties in a bunch over it. If WDW has unsold rooms they will choose or choose not to list them. Just because they have rooms on PL doesn't mean that you (or anyone else that has been planning a trip for months) are entitled to them.

I am someone that is reading all of these posts. I am seeing that after some posters are getting something they do not want, they do not want to go.. not all of them.. some of them. PL rooms were not made for people to resell, that may be one of the reasons why you cannot add a name on the ressie until you are checking in.
Hey, it is your money & do what you want with it. I guess some just do not want to eat the mistake they made. No one is saying that only people that were planning for months are entitled to a PL room. I guess you didn't read all of my words. What is said was....

Next time read all the words before you go & put words into others mouths. Nowhere in there am I saying... you (or anyone else that has been planning a trip for months) are entitled to them....
To but it very clear & as others have said.. if you want a certian resort, do not use PL. Is is even legal for Ebay to allow someone to auction off a PL ressie when PL clearly states that the ressies are not transferable :sad2: I guess some think rules do not apply to them :rolleyes2
forgot to mention.... people that are bidding & end up not wanting to go (and do not go), they are actully taking away rooms from others that really just wanted a room & could careless where the room was, not everyone cares about being onsite. So yeah, that is a way someones trip can be ruined.. by you and others that only bid wanting Disney & now not going to go because you did not get what you wanted. By doing that, available rooms were taken away.. this isnt' Disney where you book at regular rate & if AP ends up not coming out, you cancel & the room goes back into inventory eventually. Once you bid on PL, you took that room & there is no adding it back into inventory point blank.. or did you not consider that? So yeah, I would consider that ruining it for the real PL'ers....

LOL again with the "real PL'ers" comment. What is a "real" PL'er? If you were a "real PL'er" (that didn't care what hotel they got) then I guess you would quit complaing that us "fake" PL'ers are taking all of the WDW rooms that you feel the "real PL'ers" should be entitled to. Give me a break. I chose not use my ressie for ASMU because the timing just won't workout for us now. I paid for the ressie, I can choose to go or not to go. Have you looked at ebay? I haven't seen a single listing for any of the Value Resorts nor have I seen the Amerisuites on there. Who cares if they are listed on there though? Someone that has a love for WDW would be the first to bid I'm sure. Should they not be allowed to stay at a WDW Resort because they aren't a "real PL'er?"
Obviously WDW is listing the rooms on Priceline because they have a lot of unbooked rooms. I'm sure out of the 4,000+ rooms, only a small percentage are released to the inventory on PL and PL bidding isn't going to make the entire resort sell out.
Oh, and FTR, I've been bidding on PL for years. Sometimes I use my room, sometimes I don't. I don't think that makes me a "fake PL user" ;) I've gotten great rooms in NYC for awesome prices back in the day. The Waldorf was only $128 and we were upgraded to a suite, which was pretty darn spectaculor!

Glad you are done debating since you still do not get what I am trying to say, or at least you are posting as if you don't. I will try to explain without you having to debate with what I am saying.
What is a real PL'er.. someone that uses PL no matter what hotel is coming up.. knows the consequences, knows it is a done deal & knows when they want to travel.. yes, there are some unforseen events that happen in someones life, but if your timing wasn't good, then why did you bid those dates? It isn't like you did it a month ago..Someone that is not a frequent user (or for that matter really understands how PL works) is one that bids for a certian resort & is a sore-looser when they don't get it.
I really do not care what % of rooms WDW is placing on PL. That is not what I meant, I meant any room in any hotel for a certian date, a date that you may have taken. At one point, all of the rooms that PL has access to (on a certian date)my be booked and that date will no longer come up. You and others may have them & do not want them.. do you not understand what I am saying.. Maybe there is someone else on this board that can explian it better to you than I am (without debating in your words). PL is not a bottomless pit for rooms, they do sell out on certian dates. By people bidding & only wanting a certian resort, not going, you basically just took a room away from someone that may have wanted to really go.. and will stay no matter where the room was.. Nikki Bird, Amerisuites or WDW.. what part of my post is confusing you? You have a room, you will no use it, someone wants that DATE (could care less what hotel), you took the date from them.. has nothing to do with the amount of rooms at Disney.
I am not trying to debate or jump on you by any means. All I am trying to do is explain something that you may have overlooked. Supply & demand, you took away a portion of the supply & will not use it.
By the way, I wasn't the original poster about the ressies being sold on Ebay.. that was someone else. I was agreeing that they shouldn't be sold on them.
I am starting to think this thread is going to be locked & all because some cannot see what the post is really saying.

just a side note--> after reading all the priceline raves, we tried it (for Chicago not Disney) for a hotel on April 30th this past weekend. our first time trying PL and it went horribly, we got a FABULOUS hotel, but nowhere near the area i checked. i called the 1800 # and they DID refund my money, so it can be done, not matter what they say. They refunded it minus a 25$ cancellation fee. This fee was then re-imbursed to me IF i booked again within the next 7days ( i booked that afternoon). i finally got what i wanted and loved the resort! so if you call them and speak to someone they will help you to the best of their ability!
That's awesome that some of you all got WDW at 36$ congrats!!

Hi Becky! Welcome to the DIS.
Are you saying you put in a bid for TWO rooms for the ONE night? That is great for you! This is the first poster I've noticed who asked for more than one room and got AS.
Hoping this trend continues :wizard:
And this thread stays open...let's all work and play well with others! :grouphug:

I dont understand why some of you ( or one of you ) is saying that the hotel does not have your name when a booking is made. I have used Priceline for many years now and I always call the hotel I get the very next day to make note of the res. and put in my non-smoking request. They ALWAYS have my name in.

I called WDW Reservations the other day and was told that they couldn't look up my reservation and if I wanted to confirm it, I had to call PL directly. I asked how one books ME then and she said to call ME directly. I don't have the number handy, but I'm sure someone else will.
the same thing happened when i called disney. BUT, as i remember from working at disney before any reservations made with an outside travel place (except for AAA) the room will be reserved for you, but your name will not appear in the reservation system till 5 days before you check in (it just holds rooms for blank names), so if you need a request for your stay (including advanced dinning ressie- i think) you can call up to 5 days before to do all of that. hope that helped

I do know that sometimes your name will not show within the first day or so. After that it is in there. I emailed the Amerisuites to request a room on the ice machine floor. They emailed me back telling me that they have noted that next to my name.

I too have used PL for years and have never had a problem confirming my ressie with the hotel directly. I'm saying it because I've called twice (1-407-WDisney) and WDW does NOT have my name in the system and they refer me to PL. Perhaps WDW works a little different than the rest of the hotels on PL who knows? People have reported calling to book ME and the ressie showing up that way, but not when you call CRO.

CRO can't generally access reservations made through travel agencies. That includes reservations made through AAA and apparently also reservations made through PL. DME was able to pull up my AAA reservation last year but CRO was not.

I went to the Amerisuites.com site & on there is a spot that says contact us. Click on that, but when you do, remember in your message to but what Amerisuites you are staying at because it is a general email address.

The number to call Magical Express directly is 1-866-599-0951.
If you need to make changes to your Disney reservation, their Automation Support department can do it for you. I found this number in Passporter, so it is evidently "public" per se, but it is also the number travel agencies apparently use to make changes to a reservation on file with Disney. If you call this number, they CAN look your reservation up under your name, with the Priceline hotel confirmation number (12 digits.) The number is 1-800-353-4800.

I am going to WDW this weekend 5/11 - 15) - arriving at 7PM on Thursday and leaving 7AM on Monday - I had booked the Poly for Friday and Saturday night (my first deluxe !!!) and was planning on using my marriott points and staying at the Courtyard near the airport on Thursday and Sunday night. The points needed were pretty high but the cheapest rate I could find was >$110 in the area.
Thanks to this suggestion I got AS-Music for Thursday night and AS-Sports for Sunday night both at $36.
The odd thing was I bid on Monday night and nothing came up; the same bid won on Tuesday night

Congrats, Robin - what a fun trip that will be for you! You won't have to leave Disney property, bell services can transfer your bags between all the resorts, and you could use M.E. if you want for the whole trip too!
Good to know people are still getting these rates too. When you say nothing came up on Monday night, do you mean you placed your bid on Monday night (May 1) or you were trying to bid on a Monday night? It came up with no Disney hotel, or no hotel at all available? And then you tried again on Tuesday?
Just curious as this trip was my first Priceline experience as well & I'm enjoying trying to figure out how it all works. Thanks!

Glad it worked!

I placed a bid for the same price $36 on Monday night and no hotels were found @ that rate. I figured it wouldn't hurt to try again on Tuesday as well. Also FYI - both times they offered to add an additional night.
I can't wait, work is going to be very difficult tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion about having the bell service move my 'stuff' - I am going from work to WDW back to home so I will have two laptops w/ me.
Thanks to the OP for posting this thread and for creating such a detailed list!! :thumbsup2
I usually pride myself on being "in the know" with everything Disney, but I'm only finding out about the All Star Resorts being accepted on priceline until today! Our trip isn't until September, so I'll continue to watch what people are getting. I'm a long time priceline user, so I know the risks. Congrats to all of you for getting such great deals!!! :sunny:

I just got an email from someone who experienced the same thing - bid and nothing was available, then tried a couple days later and got an All Star. Maybe I'm just being too hopeful, but I think it may be a good sign if Disney is still loading rooms into the Priceline system.

looking for a one night stay before our vacation starts on Aug 19th at CBR. We would come in late and probably check in at 10pm, so even if we got stuck with the Nikki, it wouldn't be a big deal, just need a place to crash and then leave first thing in the morning. is it really that terrible? we won't be there but from like 10 or 11pm-8am and probably sleeping the majority of that time. we will have our own car. if we get it, we'll just deal with it- that's the risk. if we get an all star, super!
but- question- is it better to wait until closer to our date (August) to put in our bid? Or do you think Disney would have released rooms this far out in advance-? my guess would be that they release more rooms closer to the date to get rid of them? anyone have a suggestion- should I give it a shot now or wait another month or so? I know I can always find something last minute if I have to. i saw the one poster got the nikki for 8/19 (we want 8/18). so recommendations?
first time to use PL, but we will take the risk for one night of simple sleeping cheaply! :)

You can try now or wait. The room availability changes frequently.. you never know what will come up or when. Who knows with Disney, maybe by Aug, they will not be releasing rooms for PL to auction off for them.. or they may be releasing moderate resort rooms..you just do not know. I have to admit, when I saw that Disney had released rooms to PL, I was shocked... happy :cool1: but shocked :cloud9:

PLs Disney inventory seems to be within 45 days of check in. I wouldn't expect Disney to be adding PL inventory during the free dining promotion until the date to book free dining has passed. Most of us were surprised to see Disney start putting rooms on PL. I have no idea if it will continue but I'd think the free dining promotion should be enough to fill a lot of Disney's inventory and I don't know how many (few) rooms they'll put on PL.
Bidding, until you see others succeed for your dates, is taking a big chance.

for the people who didn't get All Stars there are reviews on the Orlando board on this site.
Please read my thread "Nikki Bird disaster!" It's been moved to the Orlando board but I think it's very important for anyone who booked this hotel through Priceline. The Nikki Bird no longer exists and you need to make other plans right away.

It sounds like you did something wrong. Did you do the name your own price? A couple of things.
1. Scroll back through here and somewhere there is a post where a very nice Dis member has set up a calendar showing dates bid and results. (I really need to bookmark that thing) Look at that calendar and see what's been going on for your dates
2. When are your dates? I think the latest I have seen is mid June for the All Stars. THere is no gurantee Disney will continue after then
3. Go to www.biddingfortravel.com and click on the Orlando board. Look at the hotels in the Disney area. If your vacation will be ruined by ANY of them (which may include the Nikki Bird until PL gets its act in gear) do NOT bid....
Remeber PL is final and there are NO refunds!

I followed the directions to use Priceline for that $36 rate in Disney area. Dates were May 31- June 2 and it said no hotels available. Tried this last week. I just figured no one was getting any all-stars. I have a reservation already for May 31- June 6 had an off-site hotel. Feeling a little leary of the place due to the recent bad reviews. I thought I would try the Priceline, but it said nothing available then.

UPDATE!!!!!!
The Nikki Bird site has been removed, no longer exist! Priceline sent me a phone number which I called a few minutes ago. After waiting on hold for 5 minutes I was told they would contact the hotel and send me an Email within 2 days. I will let everyone know how well they handle this. I am disappointed that neither the Holiday Inn nor Priceline let me know, I had to find out here!

A few people have reported that they also got that there was nothing available and tried a day or two later and bid exactly the same and ended up in the All-Stars. It's a little tougher to "guess" whether or not there is inventory at certain hotels now than a few weeks ago when dozens of people per day were bidding but . But hotels are constantly changing their inventory in Priceline's system, so you may have luck trying again. I haven't seen anyone try for your dates for awhile, but that doesn't mean you can't get lucky!

Ok, I feel like a total idiot. Tried Priceline again and got All-Star Music for May 31 and June 1. But could not add days due to no availability. So I tried again and got Amerisuites for June 2. Then I tried again and got All-Star Sports on June 4. I messed up and tried to add a day to sports. Wouldn't let me do that. So I put in again for June 5 and got Amerisuites again. I feel like a total idiot. So now we are going to be changing hotels throughout our trip. Could not find anything for Sat June 3. The total for 6 nights is less than $300 and that is great. But we will be changing hotels......a lot.....lol.

For future bids... when you can't add days it's probably not a good sign on your bid for the same day. If you notice on both of your attempts after the denail on the add days you got the Amerisuites.
However, you got some great rates! Have a good trip!

After four contacts with Priceline and asking for a manager I got a refund for the economy long term stay hotel Holiday Inn Nikki bird turned into!
They were to Email me within 48 hours after I spoke to them. When they didn't I called and the rep told me I had a reservation at Home Sweet Home. Just like that. When I opened the confirmation Email they had sent me a few weeks ago miraculously it said Home Sweet Home. I couldn't believe it. As I told the manager the idea they never called and told me that my hotel was switched to a boarding house with weekly cleaning is what burns me up. I have never used Priceline before and never will again. Fool me once shame on you..... :furious:

Has anyone gotten an All Star hotel for a stay later than June yet? Just curious, thanks!
Other than the few people who tried when this all started, I haven't seen anyone attempt to bid for anything past mid-June lately so it's hard to tell if Disney has anything available.
Just thought I'd post a short review of AS mUsic and Amerisuites. We stayed at ASM on Tuesday and Wednesday in bldg 7 all the way in the back, despite being told we were in Calypso when I called in. We enjoyed the big pool, the game room, and enjoyed having a car so we could go places quickly because it was so HOT and I felt sorry for all of the people I saw waiting in the bus lines. Food court was always packed, channel 96 was great for cartoons, Stacy channel wasn't working, and there was no smell of smoke in the air. All in all we enjoyed the hotel as usual.
We stayed at the Amerisuites last night (Thursday) and I have some advice - check out your room before you bring up your luggage. We were first given a room directly accross from the elevator. NOT COOL! There are 6 floors, rooms from 01 to 30 something. rooms in the center (I.E. 215, 216, 217, 218) are right across or next to the elvevator. Rooms 101, 301, and 501 are next to the stair case and the ice machine. We were first offered a room on the 4th floor by the elevator and I passed, then we were given 201, and I won't stay next to the emergency stairs on a low floor because of the banging sounds all night, then I said don't you have a room ending in 08 or 26 and I got 608. We had a great view of the pools and it was relatively quiet. No power flushes, just a high pitched whine occasionally. Of course, the AC sound drowned it all out!
Be aware that some of the rooms have the room number written on the wall instad of on a plaque, the beds are very hard and thin, the air conditioning units are really really loud, and you will need dish soap if you plan on using the dishes in the suite. I thought the free breakfast was ok - hours were from 7 am to 10 am and people were all over it. The bagel was good. There was coffee, milk, juices, yogurt, 3 cereals, bagels, toast, english muffins, and waffles and french toast all for the toaster or microwave. All in all the place needs some help in renovation and repair, but it was clean and full of people.
I don't think I'd stay here again on purpose but my DS5 loved it - the pool area was great with live music and there is a pool bar and it was zero depth entry with a water slide, and we played minature golf twice. Paying the $47 on priceline was a good price I guess.
Just a heads up, they are totally packed on the weekends in the near future, and the elevators get filled up realy quickly in the morning with people going to get the food. If you have a bunch of luggage you may want to take the up elevator and take a trip instead of waiting forever on your floor.

I am new to this web page and finding it very interesting, I went on to "biddingfortravel" as suggested but got the feeling that I cant bid if not American ( I am English) is this correct?
I have 14 weeks till my next trip which will be my 12th visit to Orlando, tried California and Paris but they dont compare, the magic is missing for me.

If you are intent on staying in a Disney resort, I'm afraid priceline is unlikely to bring success---these resorts have not shown up on priceline for quite some time now.
If you could accept an offsite stay, though, priceline can give you some very good deals. I'm not sure what the residency requirements are.
