I have a couple questions regarding the photopass. I saw that people have asked for the Tink picture??? What is that? I also saw a pictue of a family just pointing to the ground and Stitch is coming up from the street... Do you have to specifically ask for these kinds of photos? If so what varities are there? We are going May 18th and I want as many photos as I can get...
Also, where do you get the photopass? We are going to WDW our first day..
Thanks,
beattyfamily

They usuallly take those 'special' pictures at the entrance to MK and at MGM. I've only seen the Tink and Stitch ones. I've also seen the Stitch one where they have you hold a hat with Stitch coming out of it.
The photographer might suggest it or you could ask if they do not.
We had the Tink one at MK entrance. It was cute.
The first time one of the photographers take your picture they'll give you the Photopass card. Then you can use that card for the rest of your trip but if you forget that card in your room, they'll just give you another one and then you'll have two cards.

Just so you guys know if you get the photo pass CD which is awesome then they will go through and put all the borders and special effects like stitch and characters signitures, the date and anything you want and they will give you both set of pictures on the same cd, one folder will be enhanced photos and the other are the regular ones. it is awesome

How much are the CD's?
I'd like to add that to my budget so I can get one. Next time, it will be our first onsite trip and just the 3 of us without the WHOLE family (grandparents, aunts, cousins, etc).

It's $99 for up to 300 photos. Then you can print them wherever you want to.

Thanks. I can print them at home so that's perfect for me, plus store them on my computer.
Gee, something else to add to the budget...oh well, it will be a great memorabilia.

How do you order the CD? I am checking on the Photopass site and can't find it - I would love to have that option! Thanks!

We didn't have a clue why the CM was telling the girls to hold their hands together like that. Then we get home and check the pictures online and there's Tink in their little cupped hands! The funny thing is DD6 was wearing her Tinkerbell gloves and when she saw it she said "It must have been my gloves that did that!"

You can only order the cd at locations at disney im not sure the exact locations. I got mine at epcot but you have to do it before you leave disney. One more thing about photo pass. Bring a sticker or something to mark your card. I had a cast member 5 days into my vaction, put it in his pocket with the rest by accident and we went through for hours and couldnt find it. luckily my family goes there alot and they called us when we first got it and they wanted the number to see the pics online. I was so so mad thinking he lost all of my pictures and he didnt care one bit.

Well, I will have to budget another 100 dollars into the Disney account. I will have to get one of these cds for our first trip to disney. Does anyone know exactly where you can purchase them? Does everyone usually use all 300 pictures? Is the places marked on the map where they do the pictures?

Hi, I'm lost. I'm a frequent visitor to Disneyland (which doesn't have photopass) but we are planning our first trip to WDW. What is photopass? How do you use it? Do they put your photos on the CD's and enhance them with the characters, are these from the photographers around the parks?
Can someone point me to where this is all explained? A link to a post or website would be very helpful!
Thanks :)

If I'm at Disney, would I be able to call my mom, give her my pass ID # and allow her to view some photos online awhile?
Not really to order but since we're going for 2 weeks, she could see some of our pictures of fun times awhile just to view...

Photopass is this: Now the photos taken throughout the park are put onto a Photopass card and instead of having to buy the photos before you leave the park, you can buy them from the comfort of your home. You can put all your pictures on it. This feature is no extra charge. If you forget your photopass card in your room, you just get another one and now you have two Photopass cards and you can combine them to view them when you get home. The price for the photos is the same online as at the park.
THEN there is now a Photopass CD for $99 and it can fit up to 300 photos. Once you buy it you can take it home and print the photos where ever you want to. This is a great deal if you have ALOT of Photopass photos taken. For us it's not really worth it. Last trip we had 58 and many were duplicates and not that great. I ended up only buying 3 of them.
You can buy the Photopass CD at the end of your stay at Toontown, Epcot and GF. Or you can now buy it online from home but I don't have the link. If I find it, I'll post it here.
I hope this helps.

any disney photographers that you see will most lke ly have the photopass camera. Definalety at all the park entrances and sometimes where the characters are located, not always though. Just ask the first photographer that you see for the photopass.

A lot of my photopass pics are here (http://community.webshots.com/album/549287050CKFdbM)
We had 2 different Stitch pics (ground & hat), Simba, a couple of Tinks and a whole lot of other pics taken during the week. The photopass photographer also took several pics of my nephew's band in the parade and put them on my card. IMO, the CD is a fantastic deal. My CD had about 250 pics on it (some were the modified images). I cant think of any other vacation where we have this many picrtutes of us together.
you can get the CD done at Epcot, the store in ToonTown and at the Grand Floridian's gift shop.

Here is the link that beattyfamily was speaking about to order the Photopass CD from home.... http://www.register123.com/event/profile/form/index.cfm?PKformID=0x177271abcd
Was wondering if anybody had purchased it this way rather than at the parks yet..... Thinking it would be easier and less time consuming to wait when we get home rather than standing in line and viewing at the park. I understand that you are not able to add borders are extras to the pictures from the CD so if you want that stuff added you need to do it at the park before having the photos burned to the CD. Looking for confirmation on that information as well.

Thought that I had this CD picture thingie all figured out but now am confused? :confused3 I thought that you could not get pictures added to the CD. :confused3 The borders and other things have to be done at WDW? If we have ride pictures, can these be added to the CD? :confused3 Guess I don't know as much as I thought!!! Any help would be appreciated!!! :wizard:

The CD you buy at the park will have all the original Photopass images in one folder. In another folder, there will be several modified images (cropped, borders, autogrpahs, etc).
The CD you buy online will only have the original images. I *think this includes holding characters since they posed you that way.
Neither CD includes the ride pics.

We just got back and we purchased the CD, I think that it is great, lots of people in line certainly didn't agree with the price.
I know you can buy the CD at the Camera Shop at the exit of Epcot, the Grand Floridian Hotel and then at the camera place in Toon Town at MK...I swear he mentioned that you could do it too at the scrapbooking store at DD.
Just a little hint...we had about 120 pictures taken in four days at WDW...it takes time to add the enhancements that you want, so make sure you give yourself time!! Do NOT wait till the park is closing on your last day to go in and do it. I went in at about 7 and waited in line for a good hour to get help (and there were only 3 people in front of me) and then by the time I left the line was almost out the door...those people were going to be waiting a LONG time!
You can go in throughout your trip and do the enhancements so then the day that you make the disk you can quickly go in do the enhancements on your last pics and be out...that is what we did...helped out a lot.

I noticed that the website for the PhotoPass said this:
"Note that images that have been purged from our database will not be included on your CD and that photo processing is not included with purchase. "
Does this mean that the enhanced pix like Tink in your hands, gets removed? So now I'm sitting here with an empty hand? I'm so confused on this PhotoPass thing!

I think what they mean is the Photopass pictures are only available for a limited time so if you wait too long, they will get purged from their database so then they cannot be included on the CD.

I too am interested in where one would get the cd's of the photopass pictures. I loved using the photopass for our honeymoon in Oct '05. It was great being able to get both of us in a picture of some of the "special spots" We will be there in two weeks and want to get some more pics, they seem to change frequently. We got one in Animal Kingdom with Simba in it.
Does the pass expire? I can't imagine getting 300 pictures in one trip? Just curious.
Thanks for any info!!! :eeyore:

I just want to share a little of my experience....
You can NOT NOT NOT get a CD from a photopass card at Exposition Hall in MK (nobody here has said you can, I just want to make that clear since we were told you could by SEVERAL people)...............as already stated CDs from photopasses can be burned at Toontown in MK, Epcot to the right of "the big ball" Spaceship Earth, and Mickey's Mercantile in Grand Floridian Hotel. We first went to Grand Floridian and they were nice but they only have one viewing screen so timing is everything......also communication with the technician is difficult because you are looking at the screen but they are behind it so the ones I was trying to buy hard copies of kept going away (he could bring them back up, but it was frustrating). A new location has been opened in Downtown Disney Marketplace but I don't know the exact location or the hours.
ALSO, and this may be obvious to everybody but me, the CDs from Photopass cards are only burned at locations the have the technology to view photos from all of the parks at once (you can ONLY view MK pics at Exposition Hall, BUT you can view all of the parks back in ToonTown in MK).
Part of what people are paying the $99 for is that you can then print them legally, make gifts, e-mail the pics, etc............I think people who think the $99 is a lot haven't thought things through...........For example, your first 5X7 print is $12.95 and your additional ones (at the same time) are $9.95 (this is at the parks, I don't think you get the price breaks online but I could be wrong)...........so if you are going to buy 9 pics down there, you are better off getting the CD burned so the pics are more useable......i.e. Mother's Day gifts, birthdays, combine several photopass cards so the whole extended family can end up with a complete CD of all the areas the gang ran off to. (Granted if you print them, you pay for paper, ink, and time so that comes into play, I am just dumping out my thoughts).
A different area and I will then shut my fingers up........FROM HERE DOWN, THIS IS ABOUT MEMORY STICKS AND MEMORY CARDS NOT PHOTOPASS........In ExpoHall in MK, there are two different ways to get CDs from your memory card........one way is using two self-service machines..........the advantage to those machines is that you can get thumbnail prints of your memory media, you can choose what pics you want to copy and which ones not to copy, you can modify your pics (eliminate red eye and stuff like that).....the disadvantage of those machines is that they will only put about 100 to 120 pics on a CD and they take FOREVER. Also, if there are ANY movies anywhere on the memory, the Kodak machines will not work at all. The other method of getting CDs from your memory card is for a Disney Castmember to burn it for you (as opposed to a Kodak employee--but you can't tell them apart unless you ask)...........The advantage to this method is the speed and the fact that you can get 702 MB on each CD. The disadvantage to this method is no thumbnails, no picking and choosing which pics (all or nothing), and no modifications to pics.
Both methods are $11.99 per CD ($12.77 with tax I think)........NEITHER METHOD will erase your card!! It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to clear off your personal memory card and Disney and Kodak would be crazy to accept that liability so they do NOT erase the card...............READ THE DIRECTIONS FOR YOUR CAMERA BEFORE YOU GO so you can find the "delete all" button or whatever it is............I witnessed somebody having a hateful hissy fit about this today and it was all I could do not to walk up and say, "Does being ugly to these people busting their tails for minimum wage enhance your anatomy or something?".........I was just grateful that it wasn't anybody in my family showing their tails for once. :rotfl:
The moral of this story is 1 gig of memory for a Disney trip just isn't enough :rotfl2:
And I totally agree with the person who said DO NOT WAIT until the last night--too much can go wrong.
WOW--guess this all touched a nerve with me..........sorry for the long read. Hope you find something useful in here.

Okay...I'm confused. If you decide to get the $99 CD, doesn't it include all the photos that you've had taken during the time you are there (up to 300)? What enhancements are you doing as you go throughout the trip? And why do you have to look at them on a screen and select them (is that only if you want actual prints rather than the CD)?
Also, I remember another thread where someone said they had a photo taken at DTD...does anyone know where?

salandjeff,
The enhancements that you can add are borders, the year, what park, character signitures, stich or tinkerbell. YOu can not add them when you get home so if you want to have these you have to do it before you leave. on your cd you will get one folder with regular pictures and one folder with enhanced photos. It helps if you go every few days and add the enhancements so it doesnt take a few hours the day you leave or the day before. I just read on the website for photo pass if you order the cd online you will not get the enhancements.

(Quoted from SalandJeff)..."Also, I remember another thread where someone said they had a photo taken at DTD...does anyone know where?"
I was in Downtown Disney last night so I went on a snooping mission (I am SO NOSEY when at Disney these days)..........
The DD Photopass location is in the Wonderful World of Memories. That is the scrapbook/frame store. It is attached to Art of Disney (the fancy art/collectibles store) and it is to the right of Rainforest Cafe (look for the volcano). It is behind the big Christmas store---far right, rear of the Marketplace area.
They have two screens for viewing there. They are opened from 9:30 in the morning to 11:00 at night (11:30 on weekend nights). That location was actually put there for people to buy pics from the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique (BBB) thingy that has opened in World of Disney...............SO...........during the day, they are pretty busy Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutiqueing BUT they told me that from 6:45 to close, they are fairly quiet right now (people don't know they are there yet). They are also a location that can view photopass pics from every park so they can build the CDs.
Another thing I learned is that there is a "portrait screen" at that location---I don't know the real name of those screens...........but they shoot pictures of the princesses in front of it once they are all fluffed up. Those pics just go onto a Photopass card and if the person wants to buy hard copies they are sold at the same price as the park shots (~$12.95 for 1st 5x7, ~$9.95 for additionals; ~$16.95 for 1st 8x10, ~$12.95 for additionals).......where else are you going to get a portrait for that price? There is NO SITTING FEE and no appointments needed and they said they would take pictures of ANYBODY, not just BBB princesses and divas. The screen is fairly pastel colored but I don't think it would be that noticeable if there were multiple people in the shot...............I think about 5 people could cluster for a portrait and they may be able to fit in more but it isn't a giant area. The framed samples they had there looked really good.
(unrelated note/random thought---during the BBB thing there is a Photopass photographer shooting pics during the whole process and adding them the the Photopass cards of the princesses and divas so that is another photo op if that is up your alley)
One more little tidbit---when purchasing the cd from the photopass card, you can NOT add in your personal pictures to that CD.............ONLY the photopass shots go onto your $99 CD and 300 shots is the limit and you can't get 600 shots on two CDs for $99---I can't imagine hanging out with photopass photogs that much anyway (most of them are nice but go away and let some other people get pics).
I figure that someday they will move that system closer to World of Disney HOWEVER it does channel people through most of the Marketplace so maybe it will stay in the back-----------just check before you go I guess.
Once again I have blabbed and blabbed.....sorry.

Actually, in my case the guy at the Grand Floridian did the enhancements for me. I didnt know I had the option to do them myself. Had I done them myself, I would have done a few of them differently, but for the most part the ones I got were fine

No, Photopass is not part of the restaurants or rides. Chef Mickey's does take pictures but they are not part of Photopass.

Of course, you have to buy them from their website and they mail them to you.
So you can either buy them like you used to at the park before you head home or you can buy them from the comfort of your home.
Or if you have a lot of pictures taken you could buy the CD for $99 and then you can print them at home.

I'm new to the whole idea of Photopass (they weren't around during my last WDW trip), so I have a couple of questions:
1. Where can I get a photopass from? I'll be visiting Epcot first and then MK during my trip.
2. If I bring my photopass home (and NOT get the CD at WDW), then will I be able to view my pictures at home or do I still need to order them from Disney? I have all the necessary software & printers so I can print them at home.
3. Is the photopass like a memory card or not?

I'm new to the whole idea of Photopass (they weren't around during my last WDW trip), so I have a couple of questions:
1. Where can I get a photopass from? I'll be visiting Epcot first and then MK during my trip.
2. If I bring my photopass home (and NOT get the CD at WDW), then will I be able to view my pictures at home or do I still need to order them from Disney? I have all the necessary software & printers so I can print them at home.
3. Is the photopass like a memory card or not?
Thanks!
The Photopass card is like a room key and when you first get your picture taken from a Photopass photographer they'll swipe the card and give it to you. Then you can use that same card for the rest of the trip.
Then you can either buy your photos before you leave Disney or buy them from the comfort of your home. They're $12.95 each.
The Photopass card has a number on the back that you would enter when you go to the Photopass website.
Then you can buy the ones you want to.

To get your pass, just go to a photographer in a PhotoPass vest and ask them for one. You can combine multiples cards on a cd as well. Photographers will also take pictures with your camera if you ask them to.
The photopass pics cannot be printed from home unless you buy the cd in the parks. IMO, the photopass is worth it, especially after I saw the pics taken with my camera where my hand wasn't quite steady. Without photopass, I would have lost some of my favorite pics and memories from the trip. I can't go back and recapture those moments now, but thanks to photopass the moments are preserved. Furthermore, my memory card ran low while on the trip, so it was nice to know that I had the photopass to take park landmark pictures and my personal camera to capture the impromptu moments at shows and meals.
In Toon Town and EPCOT, the CM let us choose the borders and add on features. They were very helpful because they cropped some pics and played with the placement to get a picture to fit within the border. I know you can order the CD from home, but the add-ons and borders available in the parks are nicer than the ones on the web. Make time to take advantage of this service. They let us do quite a few enhancement pics.

My question is can you personally print pictures off the photopass website at home or do you have to order them?
actually, there is a way to print them without purchasing, if you have a program such as paint

I'm just back from WDW and I did CD at Scrapbook store. I'd say word is getting out as I saw many people in there few nights I went to scope it out, do things to pics. I actually ended up doing my CD here just because I was DTD and I had MAXED a CD by disney standards. I was told by a disney photopass person working cd burner that 400 pics is really the most they like to put on CD. I had 416 on mine after enhancing and they did all mine on one cd.

I printed a picture just by clicking Print while I was on that screen. It prints out the other stuff on the page too. It doesn't come out too well. I did it on one that we ended up buying anyway.

I do know that Disney has disabled the ability to right click on the picture and then save it to your hard drive. I have had some issues with Costco cutting off borders on the modified images, but it may be my fault. I'll have to check it out when I get home.

When I told my DH I wanted to look into buying the Photopass CD, he said "$99??!! I don't think so!" I was prepared to fight, but laid low awhile. Then last week he went out and paid more for my son's dirt bike than I approved of, so I said, "Guess what I am getting at WDW? A Photopass CD...and anything else I want!" It was agreed all around that there will be no more arguments. :rolleyes1

Another tip....hand your personal camera to the photopass photographer and ask very nicely if they can take a picture with yours too. They will do it. We ended up buying a couple of photopass pictures though anyway. We have one of stitch coming out of a hat that DD is holding. It's very cute!

If you are a person like me who normally purchases the park pictures...the CD is well worth the money. Our trips are usually about 10 days long and I always buy the bare minimum of 4 pictures.....one each of my family in front of each park icon. So the little extra that I have to shell out of my pocket to receive ALL of the photos taken during our trip really isn't much more. The other great thing about his CD is that I am normally the one taking our photos, therefore really the only pictures I'm in are the ones that the PhotoPass photographers take!!!! It's kind of nice being able to have some memories captured with myself in them!

I also love how PhotoPass will take a picture with your camera. Now we have pictures of everyone and they were taken by a professional photographer. Sometimes an unsteady hand causes what would have been a great picture to be fuzzy. I had enough of those from my own hand on the trip. Because of PhotoPass, those shots were not lost, so to speak, plus they often turned out better than my own. My brother spent the whole week complaining about how stupid it was and how much better his camera was. Well, after he saw the pictures, he started complaining about how they didn't make them large enough to print a poster of the pictures.(You win arguments with him when he has to change what he's arguing about).
I also found a photographer near the statue of Roy and Minnie, and she was kind enough to take our picture there while she waited for the character she was assigned to to return. She even did a great pic that looks like Roy is talking to me while Minnie looks up at Roy.
My memory card also started to run low. Because of PhotoPass, I didn't have to panic. I saved my camera for those impromptu moments at meals and such and used the PhotoPass to capture those family shots in front of park icons and such.
One more tip for those who buy the cd. I uploaded and cropped, but the crop didn't work right and the printed version was incorrectly cropped. I went back to Costco, explained what happened and they helped me fix it without a problem. You're better off uploading the pic in the store and cropping it there. Ask an employee for help too as they'll show you what to do in order to get everything in the picture right. One of the employees is going to WDW soon, so I explained how the PhotoPass works and what you have to do to get those special borders.

I love the thought that you can use your camera for impromtu photos...I am pretty new to the digital scene-I still love film best but BF doesnt want to take the film camera with us (which sucks b/c I now have a 70-300 zoom that I want to use and he just wants to take the little camera)
BUT I am having a huge issue with storage space...I told him I wanted a 2gig card and he looked at me like I had 2 heads!
If I increase the resolution on my 256mb card I only get 24 shots!
and just to give you a hint of how many photos we take...we took 25 rolls of film with us to disney last time and came home with 23 used!
Photopass sounds like a good way to go...

I just want to thank everyone for the tips regarding Photopass. I've copied them and will print them out to take with me to the World this October.
My question~besides the front of the parks, is there some sort of list of where the photopass photogs are?? This will be my 2nd trip to the "world" and I'd kinda like to have an idea of where to look for the photographers. I plan on filling that CD up!
Thanks!

I made a movie/slide show that was offered on the photo pass page and loved it! You can use any of your photo pass pics as well as downloading your own pics to add to it. I love showing it to my friends and class. Everyone thinks it's very cool. Definitely worth the $50. I will definitely have more photo pass pics taken next time.

Some that I remember
MK:
walking all over Main Street....have them snap one of you waiting on the curb for the parade
near the rose garden between the hub and Tomorrowland....hreat shots of you with the castle and very few people behind you
with most characters that are signing autographs....Mickey in the Judge's Tent, near the Dole Whip stand, outside the entrance to the park, just inside the entrance, in Tomorrowland near the Buzz ride
Epcot:
front entrance
behind Spaceship Earth, almost near the lagoon (great pic, less crowd)
with the chatacters....in England with Pooh & friends, in Character Connection (or wahtever it's called), with Belle in France, with Aladdin & friends in Morocco
MGM
entrance
walking toward ToT
character areas....in the courtyard around the hat, with Chicken Little after the animation tour, Mickey theater, with Mike & Sully, with whatever characters are in the trailers near the Mickey theater,
AK
entrance
on the bridge heading toward Africa
character areas....Pooh & friends greeting area, outside the entrance, Camp Minnie Mickey
it's hard to miss them, they usually wear tan vests that say photopass on the back

A lot of my photopass pics are here (http://community.webshots.com/album/549287050CKFdbM)
We had 2 different Stitch pics (ground & hat), Simba, a couple of Tinks and a whole lot of other pics taken during the week. The photopass photographer also took several pics of my nephew's band in the parade and put them on my card. .
Did you have to arrange for this? My children will be marching, and I would love if the Photopass Photographer took lots of pictures of them - but would I have to arrange this in advance? CAN I arrange this in advance?

nope, I dont think you can arrange anything like this. We were sitting on the curb watching the other bands and I noticed the photogs getting in there and taking pics. I stopped one of them and asked her if I pointed out my nephew would she put a few pics of him marching on my card. I gave her my card just as we saw his band coming around the corner and all the pics she snapped of his band were on my card.
I do know that several photogs take lots of band pics and they have them all available to look at like you would any other picture. I dont know if you can have those pics added to your card if they werent coded to your card in the first place.
In a nutshell, your best bet is to befreind a photog just before the parade and ask them to get a few pics for you.

Befriending a PhotoPass photographer is a great thing to do. I did it one night as people were lining up for Wishes, and when my some of my family came to join me, Frank kindly agreed to wait a couple more minutes even though they called him in and took a beautiful picture of us in front of the castle at night. You can clearly see the colors on the castle.
I also wanted to add that we never saw any PhotoPass photographers in World Showcase. I looked for them in France when we saw Aurora and Belle, but they weren't there. I think in some of those places, they're not necessarily there all the time. I think the Tink pics must be taken on Main Street. It has something to do with the fact that Kodak photographers are the ones who do the Tink pics and they're on Main Street.
Also remember that MGM and AK pics take longer to get into the system. For MK and EPCOT, it's usually minutes. For MGM & AK, it can be hours. Keep this in mind and try to do those pics before the last day of your trip.
