USB Port on Digital Camera Broke

Okay, I have a Fuji FinePix2650. The USB port on the side of the camera broke. It shakes free in the camera now. I use the camera primairly for ebay photo's. I cannot afford a new digital right now. Is there anyway to upload the pictures right onto my computer w/ just the memory card (it takes an XD card)? Like when you go to Walmart (or a developer) you take the card and pop it into there machine and the pictures pop up. Just wondering if there's an inexpensive way to do that on my computer. Thank you!!! :)

I was looking on ebay. It looks like a card reader might be the answer....is this true? I could use something like this:

Tell me if I'm understanding this right. I can use my camera to take the pictures. Pop the memory card out. Insert the memory card into the card reader, which then inserts right into a USB port on my computer to upload my photo's. In the end bypassing the broken USB port on my camera????? I feel technologically backwards on this one. But I need a cheap fix so I can keep listing. TIA!!

Yes you can get a USB adapter that takes just the XD or get a multi that takes most (that way if you get a different one ).They are avail at most camera and places like wal-mart and bestbuy.

This will do the same thing as wal=mart machines.


Yes that will work I sometimes just use my slot on my computer for my memory stix rather then hooking up the camera.

not only will that work, but I highly recommend it as the only way to upload your pictures to your pc, it saves wear and tear on your camera.

I have never connected either of my digitals to a computer, a card reader is a much better method..

Things may have changed, but when I started in digital I uploaded using the camera. When I switched to using a reader I found it was faster.

My camera uses an SD card and I just found out that my new computer has a slot for it. Also, I can use the slots on my printer as well.

I can transfer a gig of photo's off my CF card using my little handy dandy Sandisk multi-card reader in under two minutes. To do so directly from the camera takes 15 minutes. That in itself is a reason to use a card reader.

I got a card reader when I got my new camera. It is the best thing ever. I no longer have to remember where the cord is!!! My desktop PC has a slot for the card as well, but not my laptop. I did not know they exisited and wished I would have invested sooner!

card readers are a great investment,, a few months ago one of the local office supply places had card readers on sale for 10 bucks with a 10 dollar mail in rebate, I bought several, since they were basically free..

I keep one in my bag, ,one on my pc desk at home and one on my desk at work....
