I'm new to all of this and I am really looking forward to walking/running/crawling in the 1/2 marathon at WDW in 2007.
Just curious - when it gets a little closer to the marathon, does everyone order special WISH or some other type of t-shirts?

Last year, we had shirts specific to the 2006 marathon. This year, I think LizDotCom is working on a generic shirt that can be worn anytime. Last I knew we were waiting for approval to use some Penguin stuff. (waddle on, etc..)

Carrie,
I am pretty sure Liz posted that she had to back off from organizing the shirts. I don't think anyone has stepped up and volunteered.

Carrie,
I am pretty sure Liz posted that she had to back off from organizing the shirts. I don't think anyone has stepped up and volunteered. Hi Pat: Funny you should mention that - I sent a PM to Liz this weekend asking her if she would mind if I take over the shirts. I didn't want to step on her toes at all, and she said that would be fine. So I'll take over organizing the shirts. I figure I can do the shirts and socks both.

Wow Dave! you are a glutton for punishment! ;) Juts kidding. EVeryone was wonderful last year with the shirts! I have info on where we got them last year. PM me when you're ready for that.

Yay! Dave, you are great for doing this. I understand that THE Penguin himself is ok with using the stuff as long as no profit is made from it. So we should be good to go with whatever we decide.
.
.
.
Note to whomever: As for design, I might like to humbly sugest that we put more than DIS WISH on the shirst since many asked me if it was "Make a Wish" that I was representing. I think somewhere it might be good to put DISboards.com on our stuff maybe? Otherwise, it would be OUR stuff; we know who we are and can do what we want. I enjoyed many conversations b/c of our shirts for sure explaining who/what we are.
I actually think the 2006 design was great! We could see ourselves from quite a distance for sure. ;)

Dave,
Awesome!! Just a suggestion....while I am a huge MFM fan and love my Penguin/courage-to-start shirt from Columbus, there is a sizeable group of WISHers who don't follow John Bingham's training program and might prefer a shirt without a penguin reference. Lord knows I will never be more than a penguin, but there are a whole lot of you are. What does everyone think?
And I am with Lily about a reference to the dis boards. I really like the DFL>DNF>>DNS that someone posted earlier, that would be really cool on a shirt.
Just let me know the details - I can't wait!!

Claire- Dead friggin last beats out Did not finish and both greatly trump Did Not Start. It's a common sentiment on a triathlon board I frequent. It's another way of phrasing "the courage to start..."

I agree with Lily that it needs to be clearly different than "make a wish".
If you need any design assistance, I'd be happy to help. I was a graphic designer in a previous life... (I also did the design last year).
Personally, I would like the official WISH T-shirt for marathon weekend to not have any obvious reference to penguins or waddle on, but a subtle (like the feather last year) would be great. JMO

I hear you all about the penguin references on the t-shirt. Who has the marathon shirt design from last year? Sunny do you have it? If so, can you send it to me. From the pictures I've seen, I really like the design from last year. It seemed simple and elegant.

Just a thought....
using Sunny's design -
on the front of the shirt, in place of the year, could we have disboards.com? I know I would like to have the shirt for Chicago in August, DL in Sept, and WDW in Jan (if I ever make up my mind what I am doing in Jan), so any mention of the year would limit the shirt. Like I said, just a thought!

I'm doing the DL 1/2 in September, and it would be great to have a DIS shirt to wear.....I still wear my "We will not be swept" from the Wishwalkers 2005 1/2 marathon at WDW.

Dave- Thank you so much for taking this on. Sunny is the bomb when it comes to designs. She should definitely be involved in the design. I recommend coming up with 2 or 3 different designs and letting everyone comment on them. The green shirts last year were very bright. We got them from alertshirts.com. I wonder if we could go with a white shirt with bright lime green letters instead of the lime green shirt. Just a thought.

I like the idea of adding disboards.com to the shirt. I would like to keep the year as well. We'll get brainstorming on designs soon. We may be able to do both white and safety yellow (lime greenish). I loved the neon yellow. I can't tell you how many people commented on my "bright" shirt. The CMs gave me a hard time in the parks which was fun, too! I got a lot of "could you turn that down???" :rotfl2:
We also need to start thinking about the back. What words really capture "us"? Maybe we should have a thread just for brainstorming ideas? This thread might get a bit cluttered with all shirt details. Just a thought :)

Hey guys, I know we were thinking of starting a new thread for the T-Shirt wording but I wanted to say that ....I really love what W.I.S.H. stands for.
Something like "We're Inspired" or playing on that. I just love the whole inspiration theme of Wish Boards. Just my 2 cents LOL!

I know when I was running races about 10 years ago you just blend in with the crowd if you wear white. There are so many people wearing white shirts. I always tried to wear a bright and different color so my DW could see me and pick me out of the crowd. I really would like to get the lime green shirts so we stand out, and our cheering sections can see us coming.

I like the lime green. In 2005 my shirt was white and DH had trouble picking me out.
The lime green is easy to pick out in the photos (the professional photos taken on mass at the start, finish and inbetween) as well.

Here's photos of my shirt from 2006. Carrie came up with the saying for the back, then Sunny designed the logos and Carrie ordered the shirts. We had short sleeve and tank top options and I believe they're some derivative of coolmax. I also like the neon for the precise reasons that Rachael mentioned...it's also easy to find each other during the race, which makes it nice when you're starting to hit the wall. Cam pointed out that there were a couple other teams with the neon green last year, so maybe we need some obnoxious orange color ;)

Dave, thats an excellent idea. Is it Pete we should ask? I'm not sure....
I was also thinking about what someone said about using "Waddle on". As much as I love JB, I suppose that was right, that not all people are following his training plans, so maybe we shouldn't use it. :confused3
Also, I have to say, I am getting to really love DFL>>DNF>>DNS. Anyone else want that on the shirts? Although...fat chance of this, but I wouldn't want to be mistaken to a tri-athelete, now would I? :lmao:

When we did the DIS-CON events a couple of years ago, we did have to get permission to use the DIS logo. I believe it was from Pete.
As for the DFL>DNF>>DNS, that is so appropriate for me! I love it! Makes me feel a lot better about my own pace. :cheer2:

I think the later should definitely be on the back. I also want to brainstorm a way to put a hidden mickey on the shirt. We know we're not allowed to use any Disney trademark but hidden mickeys could go undetected ;)

OK, I need to express something. While I really like the DFL>>DNF>>DNS, I have trouble putting DFL on the shirt. Here's why, and I know I'm going to sound like a prude. I don't know how to explain DFL to my princesses, DD8 princess: and DD5 princess:, in a non-censored way. I know I can say dead friggin' last or dead freaking last, but we all know what that is referring to really. You mean DFL is NOT dead freaking' last :scared1: ...oh my, I guess I am showing my age! Umm, could we just have DL>DNF>>DNS?
And a question about having Disney characters on the shirt...the design forum has all types of Disney stuff on their shirts. I read somewhere that was ok as long as they didn't make money on the shirts they made. Is it because we want to have an outside source produce the shirts that we can't have any official Disney designs? The disboard.com logo has a nice hidden mickey. Would that work?

I thought of using DSL, meaning Dead Stinkin' Last which definitely loses the "f" connotation. However.....then it looks like it has something to do with computer dial up :rotfl: . So that won't work ;).

I like DSL or just DL. Agree with Dave on that whole issue. I'd have to tell my mom what it meant and I don't want to go there either. Yes, I am grown up 30+ YO, but still don't want to go there. ;-)
I would rather stay away from dropping WISH and going with DISboards. WISH team is incredibly special and different from many other places on the boards. If it weren't for WISH, I would never have attempted a marathon, let alone finished. I know WISH would not exist w/o DIS, but I've seen pettiness on the other boards that I like to keep separate in my brain from this wonderful and supportive place. JMO.
I do agree that I was a little embarrassed when people assumed we were M-A-Wish, though.
Late night, couldn't sleep brainstorming, so take I havv no idea how these will sound when I'm fully awake, but maybe they will get some creative juices flowing in others.
Team WIM - Standing for WISHers Inspiring Marathoners
I know, still not as cool as WISH, but we'd know what it stood for.
I deas for the back, although I do love DSL>DNF>>DNS
Stepping our way through the World (Paying homage to our wonderful Ms. Lily and her reminding us to put in the steps)
That could be under the math equation too.
I'll keep thinking. Everyone else do the same. You just never know what idea may strike others as great.
Last note: ALthough otehrs wore lime, it was NOT the safety lime we had. Going through the pics, I'd know our lime. It was unmistakeable. (I think that's becausee it was from a safety supply house.) So, although I could do orange or anythign else bright, I think we stood out fairly well in the green we had.

Hi Carrie, I didn't think we were suggesting dropping WISH for DISboards. If that's the case, I agree with you as well. I would never, ever want to suggest dropping WISH from the T-shirt. That's how I identify myself and this team too. I was thinking that DISboards would be in addition to WISH to try to clarify who we are a little better. Maybe underneath WISH or on the back or something.

from the shirt, a question...
mp3 players are not allowed? that's nuts.
When we designed the shirts, headphones were listed as prohibited. Once we all got our packets in Nov, the official marathon info said they were only discouraged, but we'd already ordered the shirts by then. Interestingly, the info for the Minnie currently says prohibited.
I love the differential equation that we're considering ;). My vote is for
DL>DNF>>DNS
I think that adequately gets the message across without offending everyone, especially since DD13 wants to do the half in 2007. :thumbsup2
And we could spell it out on the back, kinda like last year's shirts...
DL>DNF>>DNS
Dead Last is better than
Did Not Finish which greatly trumps
Did Not Start
Then just revise last year's marathon weekend logo with 2007 and the new dates.

Dave, I like the idea of the logo. If we can't get the ok from whomever it is we need (Pete?) to use the logo, at least the DISboards.com at that place would certainly work for me.

It looks like they actually did some designs for Liz.
I think Sunny did an awesome job for us last year, though.
Do you screen print? One of the printing issues was the fact that wicking material must be screen printed. If that's something you can do, that'd be great. WIll you ship them out to everyone too? That's a somewhat large job (not that I'm complainign in any way shape or form). ;) To ship them from the source to you and then from you to Dave would be costly.
Not trying to be negative. It would be great if you could do it for us. Just want to be sure you know what could be involved.

Last year's vendor worked out really well and the shirts were great material, color, quality, etc. I'd say we go with them again this year. Plus we worked out all the kinks of getting the digital artwork to them last year so they know what to do.

I have received the ok from Pete to use the DISboards logo. As long as everything is sold at cost, he is fine with it.
My comment about the CDL last thing would be: would our WISH Team be ok with wearing the shirts at races held off Disney properties? I would wear mine but thought I should ask.

I like the CDL. I like Lily, would wear it to other non disney races. I could also go with the DLF. So I am no help!

Good point Lily. I think part od our problem is that some of us want special shirts for WDW marathon and part of us want shirts we can wear at all races. Or maybe many of us want both options and just love to buy stuff. ;)
I have no problem with DLF if we want these to be worn everywhere (or even if we don't) Are we going to date them again or leave them generic?

Good morning all!
I love all these ideas! For me - I would prefer a shirt I can wear at DL and WDW (if I ever decide what I am doing), so that would mean no specific reference to dates. But I will do whatever the group decides.

Actually. I wasn't even thinking about the type of material for the shirts. I was for some reason thinking T-shirt type material. So, you're right that wouldn't be something I could do. What are Disney's rules as far as printing
"Disney logos" on the shirts? Or is it just the screen printers that don't want to do it? I think I like the DLF over the CDL, just because I think it would be easier to explain.

OK, here's an idea I had for the front of the shirt. I know we would need to get approval to use the DISboards logo, but I just through it on there as an idea. I was thinking we could have Sunny's runners in the space between the WISH and feather and date. Again, this is just a quick first stab at a shirt idea, and I want this to be a group/team effort so any and all comments are appreciated.
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f135/dparfitt1/WISHshirtdesign.gif I just wanted to repost this as the first stab of the design we were thinking of because I think some people haven't seen it. Sunny, do you think you could put the runners in the space between the WISH and feather/date?

I know I am coming late to this party, sorry!
I like Dave's proposed design.
I like the lime green, but we have to anticipate that at least the stroke association will be in the same color. Also, lime green is very very "in" this year and I saw MANY runners this past weekend in green or white with green (I thought only WISHers should have been allowed to wear green! ;) ), so we may anticipate there being even more by January, or perhaps the running companies will have moved on to another color.
I prefer "DLF" for the flow and also for the easier explanation, and also the contingency that chip and dale might not run the final finisher over the finish line.
I definitely prefer the wicking material because I have the WISH shirt in cotton and in wicking and there IS a difference in comfort for the race.
Thanks again, Dave, for all your hard work on this!

Looks great Dave!
Someone mentioned the date...would having 2007 on the shirt be weird for those doing the DL half this year?
What if the front said W.I.S.H. racing team with the logo Dave designed below it?
I like DLF. I liked having a really bright obnoxious color...makes it really easy for folks to find each other during the races ;) Cam has a good point, though, there are other teams in lime green. Alert shirt also has a bright orange...don't think I saw much of that color during the half.

I love Mel's idea of having the front say W.I.S.H. Racing Team. That sounds so cool. We are a team!
I am fine sticking with the lime green. Believe me, our lime green was so bright last year that it was hard to miss. Lime green is the official color of the DISboards.
I vote for Dead Last Finish (DLF) or Dead Last (DL) and putting the equation, along with the text of the equation on the back.
There's my $.02 for the night.

Wow! We are a creative bunch....lots of great ideas. I like W.I.S.H. Would it still be as readable? Just a thought!

I like W.I.S.H. raceing team, too. I think we may be able to get two designs for nearly the price of one. If we ask the printer to set up the shirt with the year and do a run and then mask out the year I bet he wouldn't charge us for two set ups.
As for the color. The "Safety yellow" as it really is has been a giant success in my opinion. As you can see from my latest post, I wear my shirt to my races and to the gym and constantly get compiments on what a cool shirt it is. Not to mention comments on how bright it is (and its been washed many times). I would love to go with the same shirt, hopefully the same printer now that he knows us.
I currently have two new computers one at work and one at home and neither of them have my grahics software on them. I'll get busy soon.
Dave I could certainly add the runners but I'm not sure your design is in the final form yet. I love the feather, the DIS logo (although I have reservationsa bout the mickey head for Disney logo purposes) but I'm not sold on the W.I.S.H. as it sits right now, the type face/spacing isn't quite what I would like, but if everyone else is sold, then count me in, too ;)
I promise I will move on this soon. You can't begin to imagine how life has been going here :furious:
As for Disney logos, its Disney that will break the back of any printer who dares tread on their turf. And all printers know that.

I'm supposedly out of commision for a long time, so I'll keep brainstorming :)
I also agree with Pat and Lily that the success of last year's shirt was how noticiable it was from a distance. With that in mind, we might want to move teh feather to the back and keep the front as streamlined as possible.
Also keep in mind that the front design needs to sit high and not be obscured by the bib.

Sunny - Love the new designs! When I asked last year, it was another ~$25 to set up a second desgn. SPLitting that among whoever anted what deisng, is not ahuge deal, but the price breaks fo volume might apply to each design, not total order. It'd have to be looked into.
Lily - Yes, I think the mickey head makes it a Disney question, not a DIS question.
To help a bit, I e-mailed my contact and he e-mailed his printer to see if the printer would print that logo. he's checking. Keep in mind that we're starting to fill up the front of the shirt. We need to make sure there's still room for our bibs without hiding anything.
Last point - If we want these in Sept. (DL), we need to act VERY soon! Figure at least 1 month at the printer, leave time for shipping to you and from you to the others. Time for people to place orders (as not every is here every week), time for payments, etc....
I ordered them in October? and got them early Dec. This should not be as bad, because it's not Christmas, but if opeople want to try them in training runs, we need to act fairly soon.
Dave - I have cost spreadsheets to figure costs (with shipping and setup splite by peoerson and # of shirts ordered) and e-mail info and website address that I would be happy to help you out with, too.

Sunny - awesome designs! For the front I think I like the one with the runners best, even if it does have 2007 in it (I am planning on wearing the shirt in DL in Sept). Hopefully the printer will be ok with the disboards.com logo - maybe he won't notice the "hidden" mickey!
For the back I think I would prefer DLF>DNF>DNS, but I love "Wish gave me the courage to start" because that is SO true.

Carrie-- I totally agree about not filling up the front for bib room. The last design with the WISH having a star (like the DISlogo) would definitely leave room for a bib. The printer might not notice the mickey head as much if you send the entire design of approval.
Pat-- the back design includes botht he DNS... and the WISH gave me the courage to start and the WDW weekend blurb. That's all one design. Remember the back doesn't need room for a bib. Backs of racing shirts are always busy, so if we like it, I'd say its not too much. For the printer, would he reduce the setup if we had one with the 2007 and one with it masked out? Its really not two entirely different setups. I'd still like to throw out some more ideas and then maybe set up an anon voting poll so everyone can feel comfortable in expressing their likes/dislikes and DISlikes :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Lily,
As a moderator, would you check with the powers that be if they would create a URL for www.DISboards.com/WISH that would point to the WISH main board? Its easy to do, its just a matter of whether or not they want to do it.
I think if we have the "WISH gave me the courage to start" on the back, then at the bottom a www.DISboards.com/WISH line would be so nice for anyone who might be inspired by us. Of course the DISboards.com will get them part way, but its not that easy to find WISh from the main forum page.

Sunny- thanks for all your hard work on the shirt design, but, more importantly, take care of yourself and get better. I think the shirts are really coming along nicely. I like the front and really like Chip and Dale on the back. I had a couple of thoughts too. 1.) I liked the periods in W.I.S.H. because it is another way to set us apart from Make-A-WISH. 2.) Hi Everyone: Here's my modification of Sunny's design for the front of the shirt. I apologize the image doesn't look as nice as Sunny's, but I was hoping you could get the general idea. If people like the idea, maybe Sunny could come up with an image for us to vote on with her graphic design software. Basically, my idea was to use the feather as the "I" in WISH, and use the star above Sunny's "I" as the periods between the letters. Again, like Sunny was saying, the star is meant to reflect the star in "DISboards.com". I took off "We're Inspired to Stay Healthy", and I thought we could put that on the back of the shirt. Let me know what you think.

Dave,
Nice job!
I really like the stars as periods. They are very dynamic and bold. This design is also much "shorter" and will not be cramped with a bib pinned underneath.
I will "clean up" your design by getting everything green that should be. That will give us a better sense of what we're looking at. I'm not sure the feather holds up as the "I". We'll have a better feel for it with the lime green filled in. Maybe we should try your design both with the feather for the I and with a standard I and the feather worked in elsewhere. One thing about graphic design is; the more brainstorming you do upfront, the happier you are in the end. Typically, its not wise to give the "client" too many options (keep most of the brainstorming to yourself) but since we're all the client and the artists, I say flood the boards! :rotfl2: :lmao: :thumbsup2 We've got bandwidth to spare :teeth:

Here is your last design all "greened up". The resolution seems to get dimished with each go around. How are you creating your images? I use PaintShop Pro.
The feather is shown here in black and white. The actual feather image is ~20 colors of grays and blues which would not be the case on the shirt. I'm sticking on two other feather options, one is the one I used last year and the other is one I just found. They are both truly black and white so there'd be no surprizes on the shirt.

Hi All: OK, you guys are going to shoot me, or kick me off the team. I had a couple of thoughts about the most recent design. I would rather not have the words "We're Inspired to Stay Healthy" on the front. I think they would be fine moved to the back and make the front less wordy. I also thought the feather off to the side looked a little out of place. It didn't quite look like it was incorporated into the image to me. I put the feather under the runners. My idea was that the feather is an important part of our image - believing in ourselves and all - plus a 2nd idea is the runners are running on a feather. Our footfalls are as light as a feather, or like landing on a soft, fluffy thing (which would be good as far as my shins are concerned).
Here are the images. Of course, I'm not offended at all if people don't like these ideas and want to go with one of the others. I definitely want the words "We're Inspired to Stay Healthy" on the shirt, but I thought moving them from the front to the back would 1.) make them more visible because they could be larger, 2.) make our image/logo more streamlined and 3.) leave more room for our bibs. Let me know what you think.

Great ideas so far! Thanks for all the time you guys are spending to get them just right! It means a lot. I know that the moment I put on this shirt will be when I finally believe that I've become an athlete. It's going to be such an emotional moment for me!
Just my thoughts...
1. I really would like to keep the We're Inspired to Stay Healthy on the front. That way it works directly with the periods to distinguish us from Make-a-Wish.
2. Also, I don't know what to do with the feather thing. It seems awkward. Maybe I need to rewatch Dumbo to get it, but I personally haven't found it inspiring during my training. But by all means let's keep it if it's a WISH tradition. I think it would look really cute on the sleeves of the shirt, if that's possible. Or maybe a small one up above the H in W.I.S.H.

I really like this design but without the feather. I would not mind the feather on the back of the shirt, but I don't see the need to have it on the front. It seems out of place to me too. I also like not having the year on the front.
We are going to have trouble with Chip & Dale on the back since they are Disney licensed characters. Lesser known or not, we do not want our printer to get in trouble. As some of you will recall, we went with WDW Marathon Weekend last year instead of Walt Disney World because of concern over the use of the full name. While I love C&D, we better leave their image off the shirt for legal reasons.
I am not an artist by any stretch of the imagination, but what I suggest for the back is similar to last year's design with the following words centered:
DLF > DNF > DNS
Dead Last Finish is better than
Did Not Finish, which is better than
Did Not Start
I probably have the meaning of the equation wrong, but you get the idea. Then, maybe we could go with the phrase "W.I.S.H. gave me the courage to start" and we could have the feather near that.
If we want to use the shirt for events other than just the WDW marathon, I recommend that we leave reference to that event off the back of the shirt.
Okay, that's my $.02. I will now leave the designing to the experts. Great work so far guys! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2
I totally agree with you, Heather. I find the feather on the front to be sort of "forced in" whereas it can be worked into the back much more easily.
I suppose you are right about C&D :sad2: We don't want to get anyone in trouble by sneaking around.
I really like how you made the DNS... thing work. I'll work on that today if I can.
To put a feather on the sleeve would be an extra setup fee and increase the printing cost. We could maybe find out how much that would be and see how many people want to go that route. Personally, I'm going for the sleeveless shirt again this year (if its a choice) so I wouldn't get a feather on the sleeve.
As for the "WDW Marathon Weekend", I'd like to find out from the printer if that could be masked off of some of the shirts without a second setup fee. Carrie??? Are you willing to talk with our buddy the printer? :teeth: If it wasn't too expensive, I'd like one shirt with the WDW Marathon and one without.
And in the words of a great space encyclopedia, "Don't Panic"! We'll work out all the kinks and get some really cool shirts made :thumbsup2

If we go with the same printer, we could all make our own choice as to sleeves or sleeveless or long sleeve or any combo, as long as they have it available. It wuold be an additional ~$25 IIRC for another setup (feather on sleeve). While I think it's very cool, I'lll likely just go sleeveless again.
Love the new front! Feather would probably look better on back, though. Along the legal/non leagal issues, is "Courage to Start" copyrighted?

Carrie, I think our posts bumped in cyberspace :rotfl2: :rotfl2: The first draft of the back I've done has "WISH (in logo form) gave me the courage to start" which is by no means copyrighted ;) And I doubt JB is nearly as aggresive with copyrighting as Disney!

The Columbus shirts had "I had the courage to start" on the back, and John Bingham was fine with that, in fact we gave him a shirt and he loved it. I would like to see that on the back of the shirt, and I think it ties in nicely with the DLF>DNF>>DNS equation.

I've done two backs. I'm not clear on how the DLF>DNF>DNS should go. If it really is an equation, then it should go as that. However, if its more of a saying, then the English flow makes more sense as DNS>>DNF>>DLF.

Would you prefer "I had the courage to start" or "WISH gave me the courage to start"? In my case, WISH definitely is where I got my courage.

I like the >>, it won't kill any art! I am so in agreement with you about WISH giving me the courage. I was signed up as one of the '05 half walkers but wasn't able to go due to a family situation. I love the back design but I'm thinking that the wording is too much. Can we just say Dead Last Finish > Did Not Finish > Did Not Start?? We could put it under the DLF>DNF>DNS. Also, could we maybe come up with a whole math theme for the back? Maybe WISH + Courage to Start = WDW Marathon Weekend 2007 or something like that?
Sorry, just trying to brainstorm on some ideas...

My only suggestion would be to space it as above (thanks Scott)....but use the wording

Did Not Start
The best part of this is that it all ties together when you add...
W.I.S.H gave me the courage to start!

I LOVE the front as it is with the logo and the runners and no feather, and then have the equation, the explanation and WISH gave me the courage to start with the feather. I absolutely feel I never would have made it through a month of training to train last year much less actually training and making it to the start line without all the great WISHers who pushed me, prodded me, held me up and cheered me on. No one in the world has ever had as much blind faith in me as my WISH buddies did through 2005 and right up through marathon weekend.

Lynne can verify, but this is pretty close to her original wording (the only change being the DLF instead of DFL.
I love the designs, guys! I'm thinking about 2 shirts this year too...a tank for next year's Minnie and a sleeve of some sort. I just love this whole concept of having WISH racing team shirts at events all over the country (and possibly a couple other countries now as well)
For me, the feather symbolizes the whole courage to start thing 'because it took the feather for Dumbo to believe he could fly. Sunny came up with the Dumbo feather tie-in last year so we'd have our Disney connection without disturbing any copyright gurus. The feather is actually the reason I have the R. Kelly song, "I believe I Can Fly" in my training mix.
Add me to the list of people who 'never woulda'...I never woulda conceived of doing any kind of race if I hadn't found the 2005 team just a few weeks before they did the half. And I doubt I woulda had the courage to show up without the support of the 2006 team...I have to say that's one of the scariest things I've ever done.

Yep, I have to agree with those posting that WISH gave me the courage to start....my short story is that I was looking for something to accomplish in my life and at the same time I decided that I needed to be a healthier person. I was coming off of a great trip to WDW for which the DIS boards helped me so much and I discovered the WISH board. At the time, many people were returning from the WDW marathon weekend 2005 and I was very inspired by what they were able to accomplish. I instantly knew that running in the WDW marathon was what my goal needed to be. I had NEVER been a runner before so the sense of accomplishment would be huge...plus I was bound to be healthier along the way. So anyway, there you have it....that is why I am here....and why WISH gave me the courage to start :)
Love the shirts and love the idea of having a shirt to wear year 'round and a shirt specifically designed for the marathon weekend, with only the back changed.

Scott, I couldn't have said this any better myself. You really described my experience too. I was coming off a trip to WDW over Labor Day 2005 and trying to figure out how to get back. Along that same time I decided that I needed to start getting some exercise. I used to be a runner and decided that I wanted to get back to that. I stumbled upon this group. Lily invited me to join, and they've really kept me going for 4 months now. That's the longest I've run or exercised consistently in about 8-10 years. And in a couple of hours I'm going to run in a 10k. Yes, Sunny I'm getting emotional over these shirts too. WISH definitely gave me the courage to start, but also the courage to sustain it.

I had one suggestion as I was mulling over the design of the back. Can we make the font size smaller as we go from Dead Last Finish to Did Not Finish to Did Not Start? Right now the biggest words are Did Not Start, and I don't think we want to emphasize that.
Dead Last Finish
is greater than
Did Not Finish
Which Greatly Trumps
Did Not Start
Would it also be possible to get some more images on the back? I'm a very visual person. I thought maybe we could have a runner crossing the finish line next to Dead Last Finish, a runner running or with hands on hips for Did Not Finish, and someone sitting on the couch for Did Not Start.
Just an idea.

The price of Sunny's feather can come out of the shirts and should be minimal. We may not notice it on the board, but everything else is so clean, that we may notice on the shirts.

I knew my post wouldn't come out right. :guilty: I knew what you meant, just somehow wanted to relay that Sunny and I had just discussed it and adding it to the shirt cost was no big deal. Of course, lazy me tried to express that in the shortest way possible.

OK, anal me started looking at deadlines and thinking about those of you doing DL (pout, pout). So, I talked about it with Sunny and she agrees that we are ready for order taking. So, here's the thread
WISH Team Shirt Orders (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1121477)
Orders need to be in by June 11 to get them in time for DL'ers to do some training in them.

Hey Carrie! Your shirt order thread has a deadline of June 30th. I'm good with the earlier deadline (you'll be hearing from me soon) but it might create some confusion.

I was out of town for a couple of days, so I couldn't get back to you. However, no worries from me about setting this up at all. I basically said I would do the shirts just to get the ball rolling. Once that ball was rolling though it just took off, which is great. I'm glad people will get their shirts in time for the DL Half.

DH saw me looking over the WISH Racing Team shirts this weekend and he wanted to know if he could get one. At first I told him no, since he's not on the boards. But then I felt bad since he's been so supportive and he is doing the Half with me. So what's the consensus on "non DisBoarding spouses"??? :confused3

A. My dh does not participate here, but he still would not be doing the marathon if I weren't and I would not be if it weren't for WISh, so.... Oh yeah, he gleans advice from here too!
B. Support team get them too! That way r/w/woggers will know when they r/w/wog by!
There's more on this on the order thread too.
