Here I am again...back to where I started. What a difference a few months makes! I'll go through all of the introduction for any of you who may not have been with me on my last journey. I am a 31-year-old mom of 2. Jack is 7 and Katelyn is 6. My family just relocated to Iowa from South Carolina when my husband's job with the Army transferred us here. (Yes, we got transferred to IOWA!!) We left ALL of our family in South Carolina and I had a really hard time with that. It took my a long time to adjust, but things are getting better. I am attending college and the kids are doing well in school. My son, Jack, is autistic and had a REALLY hard adjustment period, but he is doing great now. We have had some setbacks, but things are looking up.

I lost about 35 pounds with Weight Watchers a few years ago and have gained back about 10 of that. I don't like the way that I feel right now, so I am going back to Weight Watchers meetings starting tomorrow night. I'll post my "official" weight after my weigh-in tomorrow. I had major surgery about 6 weeks ago, and I am struggling to recover from that. The weight has been creeping up for some time now, and it's time to take action.

I'll appreciate all of the support that any of you can give. It's hard doing things alone, but I'm going to give it another shot!!

Welcome back!!!!!!! I was wondering what happened to you!

Sorry to hear about the surgery, hopefully you will start feeling better soon. I'm glad Jack is settling in and doing better and that you are more comfortable in your new location. Yay!

As you can see from my journal, I am in the same exact place I was when you left! :sad2: I have finally gotten it through my thick skull that I am probably never going to get to the weight I want, so I have shifted my focus on getting the body I want, and whatever weight goes with that is fine with me.

When you had your laproscopic surgery, did you have a lot of bloating/swelling afterwards? I have a "blubber ring" around my midsection that was definitely NOT THERE before and I've heard it can take up to 10 weeks to go away (it's been 4 weeks)! I'm curious as to what your experience was...

It's great to have you back! :cheer2:

Welcome back Karyn! I took over six months off from WISH and just started back too. I wondered where you were. Hope you are recovering from your surgery. I am glad to see life in Iowa is really going well and that your kids are doing so well too. Good luck at WW tomorrow (started that AGAIN myself) and let us know how it goes.

Well, the scale was not very nice to me last night, but I am on the way to being thinner!! My official start weight for Weight Watchers is 136.6 pounds. That is 14 pounds more than what I weighed when I stopped going to WW a few years ago. I bought the 10 week pass so that I will at least go for that long! I hate to waste money. I have had a really good day today with my eating. DH is gone all weekend, so I won't be cooking a lot. Maybe I can keep from cheating!!

Breakfast-shredded hash browns (3 pts)
2 pcs of 2% sliced cheese (2 pts)
ketchup (1 pt)

Lunch-1 tsp peanut butter (2.5 pts)
1 tsp jelly (1 pt)
2 pcs bread (3 pts)
15 pretzels (2 pts)

Dinner-Healthy Choice dinner (4 pts)
1/2 cup butter beans (2 pts)

Total...20.5 pts

I am getting ready for a yard sale, so I spent a lot of time dragging things up from the basement. I count that for my exercise for today!!

Amy...I had lots of swelling after the laparoscopy. It took me a while to get over that tiny procedure!! It was probably about a week before I felt like doing anything. I don't know how long it took for the swelling to go down because I have had 2 previous c-sections. I keep a tummy pouch all of the time! I do remember that I wore sweat pants for a good month after the procedure, though. What we women go through...men should appreciate us SOOOOO much more!!! :sunny:

Glad you're back and doing well, Karyn!

How are things in IOWA??

Yep, I still miss it!

There's another new Wisher from the Ia City area ....can't remember the name.

Hope you have a GREAT WEEKEND!!

Well, I guess I'll get all of my flex points out of the way early this week! I am amazed at how little willpower I have. Last night around 7:30 I was starving...I could have eaten my shoes. I had a bowl of cereal and milk. That put me over about 6 points. Not too bad.

Today was a different story...

Breakfast-Schwan's pancakes (6 pts)
syrup (1 pt)

Lunch-taco salad from Taco John's (13 pts)...and worth EVERY POINT

Dinner-rice 1 cup (4 pts)
butter beans 1 cup (4 pts)

Total...28 pts

I bought some WW dinners this evening (got some really great coupons at the meeting) and I hope to be able to stick with it better this week. :sunny:

Breakfast-rice cooked with chicken broth (4 pts)

Lunch-WW dinner...Swedish Meatballs (5 pts)

snack-WW chocolate cake...yummy (3 pts)

Dinner-1/2 frozen pizza (7 pts)

Total...19 pts...hopefully I can keep from eating again before bedtime!! :sunny:

Pretty good day today...I went over in points a little, but not enough to hurt me too badly! The weather is absolutely beautiful, but I haven't had a chance to get out and enjoy it. I want to get out and walk some, but my classes take up most of my time this semester. By the time evening rolls around, I'm too tired!!

Breakfast-WW potatoes and cheese with broccoli (4 pts)...I eat strange things for breakfast!!

Lunch-Peanut butter and jelly sandwich (6.5 pts)
11 Doritoes (3 pts)

Dinner-3 thin boneless pork chops with Shake 'n' Bake (6 pts)
3 or 4 small potatoes (2 pts)

Total...21.5 points...not as bad as I thought!! Notice NO SNACKS TODAY!!! :cheer2:

I didn't get a chance to journal last night, but I will catch it all up this morning. I feel badly :guilty: not getting to all of your journals when you have been so kind to view mine and comment. I hope to get to some of yours this weekend. I'm not ignoring you!! We have just been really busy.

Here is my eating for yesterday...

Breakfast-bread (3 pts)
ham (1 pt)
mayo (1 pt)

Lunch-WW dinner (6 pts)
WW chocolate cake (3 pts)

Dinner-cereal with milk (5 pts)

snack-carrots (0 pts) and light ranch dressing (2 pts)

Total...21 pts...not bad at all...the scale is going down a little everyday and I LIKE IT!!!

I did not have a good eating day today, but I had a lot going on!! It wasn't that I ate too much, I actually didn't eat enough!

Breakfast-none...the kids had a dentist appointment and I didn't get back until late morning.

Lunch-shredded hash browns (3 pts)
2 pcs 2% cheese (2 pts)

Dinner-small boneless skinless pc of chicken (3 pts)
stuffing with a little gravy (6 pts)

Total...14 pts...I did just have a glass of milk so I can add 2 pts to that total...still puts me only at 16 pts. I won't get to weigh in tomorrow night because Katelyn has a music program, so I won't know my progress for another week! :sunny:

Well I guess eating less points is better than eating more, right? I wouldn't worry about it too much, you can get back into your point range today!

I had a free-for-all yesterday, so I am going to do better today! I pretty much used up all of my weekly flex points in one day. :rolleyes1 I don't want to really get in to all that I did eat, but it started with a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit from Hardee's and went downhill from there. I will do better today. I will, I will, I will!!

Put that bad day behind you. You can't change it, but you CAN change your actions today! Get some exercise in and stay within your points. You can do it! :cheer2:

Not as bad today...I am still having trouble with portion sizes and getting into the habit of weighing and measuring. I need to work on that this week.

Breakfast-2 biscuits with spray butter (8 pts)

Lunch-I started out with a WW chicken enchilada and it was NASTY! :crazy2: I only ate a few bites of it. I counted (4 pts)

Lunch (take 2)-cereal with milk (6 pts)...I had to get that taste out of my mouth!!

Dinner-Kraft mac and cheese...didn't measure (6 pts)

Total...24 pts...still too much, but if the lunch thing had worked out right, I would have been okay!

Measuring and weighing is a pain, but sometimes it is the only way you can get the portion sizes under control! That stinks that your lunch was gross. I guess you'll know not to try that one again!

Keep it up, you'll get back into your points range in no time! :cheer2:

I have been so busy, that I haven't had time to sit down at the computer until just now. My eating has been erratic over the last few days. I have been trying not to eat out, and I think that has made a difference.

Today's damage...

Breakfast-Schwan's pancakes (6 pts)
spray butter and a very small amount of syrup

Lunch-french fries in the oven (8 pts)

Dinner-2 pcs of bologna (4 pts)
2 pcs of 2% cheese (2 pts)

Total...20 points...right on target!! I know...I didn't get the vegetables in...there is always something to work on!

Hi Karyn,

You are doing great....don't worry about the veggies...they will come!!! I keep trying to tell myself that and well it's not happening :)

Great job staying within your points! Get those fruits and veggies in! I don't do WW, but aren't veggies 0 points? Just think of all the stuff you could be eating! There has to be something out there that you like, just keep trying.

I lost 3 pounds last week! :woohoo: That was very exciting for me. I just keep thinking now about how much I could lose if I QUIT CHEATING!! :rolleyes1 I hope to do better this week. I went to the grocery store a little while ago and got some healthier foods. I am enjoying the WW dinners. I haven't posted my eating for the last few days because it was really ugly! :sad2:

So far today I have had scrambled eggs (5 pts) and a taco salad (10 pts).

Hi Karyn!!!!!! Welcome back to the journals. I've found coming back has been to keep on track as well. So I started out this week by just writing my food down. Next week I'll start calculating it all - too much stress to start it all again in one week.

Glad to hear things are going well with the kids. That was awesome to read.

Nice weight loss this week!!!!! Good luck with the next one. You can do it. Just don't look too far back on those points where you struggled - look to the future and what good you can do! :)
