There are nine weeks until summer :sunny: , and we know what that means...bathing suits :scared1: !!! I was wondering if anyone wanted to join me for a summer weight loss challenge...I know for me, these challenges are very motivating, so I thought maybe I would try to head one.

Summer is June 21st, so that will be the end of our challenge.

You can weigh in whatever day you normally would, and I will keep everyone's totals updated.

Here is how I will keep track of weight loss...

.1-2.5lbs = dark orchid
2.6-5lbs = magenta
5.1-7.5lbs = yellow
7.6-10lbs = dark orange
10.1-12.5lbs = deep sky blue
12.6-15lbs = red
15.1-17.5 = yellow green
17.6-20lbs = plum
over 20lbs = teal
Those Reaching GOAL = lime


Anyway, I would like to lose 20lbs before the first day of summer...

Who would like to join???

I've been a member of the disboards since Nov. 2005 but have just decided to jump in and start participating. I started the W.I.S.H. program today and would love to join in the summer challenge. I have 50 lbs. to lose total but will love to have 20ish lbs off by summer!!!! Good Luck to everyone!!!!

go to www.tickerfactory.com You can make up a ticker there...then come back to the disboards and click user CP at the top of the screen..there you click on edit signature and then copy and paste the http from tickerfactory in the space..that should work for you...if you need any other help let us know!! :)

I would love to lose 20ish as well....more would be better but I would be thrilled with 20. I have already lost 20 since Jan 1st so another 20 by the end of june would be great.....then I still have 20 to go....but 1 pound at a time.

I'm in! These challenges really help keep me motivated! We go on vacation on June 1st, so that's what I'm going to count as my "summer" day--I'd like to lose another 10 pounds by then, and everything else until the real summer starts will be gravy (or some other non-food related thing! :lmao: )

Thanks for starting this challenge! :thumbsup2 I can't wait to see the clippie for this one--I'm such a dork, I love the clippies! :rolleyes:

Well I didnt make my easter challenge..but I'm ready to give it a try for the summer challenge.....what is the finish date anyway..june ???

Hello All :wave:

We leave for our WDW vacation on June 5th and I would Love to lose more weight by then. I am waiting until the last minute to go and buy myself new "smaller sizes" of summer clothes and the dreaded "bathing suit". :rolleyes: I am in the lose 5 for April challenge and I have not weighed yet since I signed up. The day I had signed up I had lost 7 pounds but did not want to count those pounds on that. I can already get into 2 sizes smaller in shirts that I have tried on at home. :cheer2: I am so happy about that.

I will shoot for losing 20 pounds by the time we leave for vacation on June 5th. That might be a stretch but with all your support I know I can do it!! :woohoo:

I will be weighing tomorrow morning when i work out at the gym. I normally weigh in on Tuesdays but I had a massive migraine yesterday and was very sick again today. I did manage to get out and walk 5 miles tonight with my daughter. :yay:

You all are amazing and keep me motivated. Thanks for being so supportive of everyone. :love:

My son and I are going to WDW this June.

I hope to lose at least 20 pounds by June 28.

I need to lose much more than 20 pounds, but I'll work with that for now.

Count me in. I am hoping to lose 15 pounds. I am on steroids currently so I am not sure how realistic this is, but I am to start reducing the dose soon.

I'm in! I"ll go by today's weight even tho it jumped 8 pounds between Monday night and Tuesday Morning. Today was 185.9. My last WW WI before FL will be on 7/3 and my goal is to lose 17 pounds by then. It is likely a virtual impossibility for me as I've only lost 8.8 since late January and gained 8 overnight, but I will try.

Well I'm new to WISH but I'm always up for a challenge so I'm in. I want to lose 22lbs total but think that's a bit much for me to lose by June so I'll set my goal at 10lbs.

I got weighed at a health clinic work did Wednesday so I'll buy a scale(no I don't own one) this weekend and check myself on Wednesdays.

I pulled out my summer clothes on Tuesday and they're uncomfortably snug. That's it, I'm going to get fit! Count me in to lose 10 pounds by summer. My goal is to lose 19 lbs. total, so this would get me halfway there! And to celebrate, I bought a new scale that won't lie to me like my old one did (although I like it's numbers better!).

Ok, I want to join. Saddly bathing suit season is upon us here lol, it was 87 degrees yesterday, only 78 today, but 88 tomorrow :rolleyes: . I just need to trim those pounds in the rear a bit more before exposing myself lol :rotfl: . Please put me down for 8, I know it's not much, but I'm close to goal and I must stay at a healthy weight. lovethattink & LBAK, I just need a goal of how many pounds you want to lose by summer.

I am sorry to report that I stayed exactly the same this week, I guess that is a good thing because I didn't do to well with Easter, but I did log in 23 miles of walking, so hopefully next week it will show on the scale...wasn't how I wanted to start the challenge, but that is still OK cause I will just work my butt of this week.

CONGRATS to Hrj01 & Hockeychic on their losses this week...keep up the good work.

Since I am restricted on activity, I would like to join the challenge and shoot for 10 lbs. I need to get motivated and stop eating the junk. I will wiehg in tomorrow and use that as my starting weight.

Thanks for doing this. I have tried the exercise challenges but have not tried the weight loss ones.

ok, i'm more or less reporting on the losing for the end of june but disneyfanz is right the dates are nearly the same. i'm leaving for vacatio June 23 and I want to be 10 lbs thinner when i go. I actually started last monday so i'll go by that as my start point, ok? that was a real fluffy weight the day after Easter but i'll take the easy 1-2 lbs loss at the beginning as means to motivate! love the clippie btw!

:welcome: I am so glad you decided to join...I hope you have as much fun as I do with these challenges. You do not have to set a 20lb goal for yourself, it can be anything that you are comfortable with. There are people shooting for 8, 10, 15lbs...so you choose what you think you can do. I mean hey if you want to shoot for 20lbs, then go for it!!!

Also, I will be in WDW from May5th-7th. We are having a DIS meet at EOS on Saturday May 6th, if you can stop by that would be cool!!! I think it is at 4:30. Anyway, have a great time, and don't fforget to post your progress on here!!! :goodvibes

We're going to Indiana in 30 days; my 45th B/D is in 90 days, I really do need to lose 49.5 lbs by the end of the summer to fit in my sexy cocktail dress for our 20th Wedding Anniversary Trip to WL in Nov. 06. :banana:

I was going to WW meetings, but I'm doing WW e-tools, but my challenge to myself for the next 30 days is: 30 days cheat free on WW & to continue my exercise :yay: :banana: :yay: & :surfweb: journal, :surfweb: journal, and :surfweb: journal.

So, now I can have someone to be accountable to w/out going to the WW meetings. Gotta save that money for our Disney trip in Nov. 06 and that child of ours, and he anin't cheap :rotfl2: .

Great Idea!!! I HATE fruit, but since starting WW I have added apples, grapes, and oranges to my diet. I usually just eat 5 servings of veggies a day, but this week I will try and go for 2 fruits and 3 veggies. Good luck to everyone.

So far no weight loss. Yesterday was our Easter, so I think I undid everything I did this week. I had a BIG steak and apple cobbler. Well, thankfully Easter only comes twice a year for me. LOL!!

I did a weigh-in this morning and I've lost 3.5 lbs. since last week! Even better, my fancy-schmancy scale tells me that I drop my BF% by 3 percentage points!

I'm up for adding more fruits & veggies to my diet. I usually get 3 a day but I certainly need to up that amount. Any good sources of Vitamin K? I seem to be lacking it in my diet. I take a multivitamin everyday but it doesn't contain Vit. K.

It's a Tanita BF-681W. I bought it at Bed Bath & Beyond last week to inspire me. The old scale was over 20 years old and lied to me, so it had to go. It's programmable for up to 4 people and also has a "guest" function. You enter your height, gender, activity level and age. It stores those facts for each person.

When you step on the electrodes on the base, it weighs you and then calculates your % body fat based on electrical impedence (fat is harder for the current to flow thru than other tissue). The current used is very small (the thing runs on 4 AA batteries) and you don't feel it. The scale also calculates your Total Body Water and the number of daily calories necessary for you to maintain that weight. Any number of calories that you consume below that number (supposedly) will result in a loss of weight.

For me, it was worth the money spent (even without a coupon) to see those numbers changing in a downward mode. I hope that as I continue to exercise, my Body Fat % will continue to fall, even if I don't see a change in my weight.

Thanks for the great explaination of the scale! This would be a great addition to my family since there are 4 of us trying to lose weight (plus one "guest"......daughter's boyfriend). I'm sure you will continue to see progress. Good Luck.

Awesome job AKA!!! Makes it totally worth the money you spent on it, doesn't it??? I hated my scale when I bought it, or I should say I hated see the number that was on the scale, but now since joining WW I do not even get on the scale...I hold out until Sat. when I get WI.

It looks like most of us are off to a good start. Keep up the good work. Don't forget.......try to add more fruit this week.

I came home from work yesterday and I was completely exhausted. While dinner was cooking, I decided to put in a DVD that I bought about 3 months ago, but never opened. It was one of those "walking" dvds.

Well, I'm proud to tell you that I did the 30 minute exercise (most of it, anyway). I haven't exercised in about a year, so this was a big deal for me.

The exercise was great and it gave me the energy to finish cooking, clean up, go shopping at Costco and (most importantly) stay awake to watch "24"!

My muscles hurt today (that's a good thing), so I am very proud of myself.

I am unfortunately up 1lb. Although my mom did point out that I'm using a different scale this week and it's my girl time. (Sorry if that's TMI!) So she says I should really use that as my starting point.

My stomach had been so upset I slacked off on my exercising for a few days but hopefully I'll be able to turn that around now. I'm not letting this get me down.

poppinspal...don't worry aboyut a gain...you can fluctuate 4-7lbs when you have your TOM, so next week you will see a difference. Always try and weigh yourself on the same scale too, becuase all scales are different!!!

Yes, everyone is doing a great job (I'm not weighing in until the weekend).

I do about 3-6 servings a day of fruit/veggies. I always have fruit with lunch because it helps fill me up (I'm ALWAYS hungry!).

It's not so bad to have those Oreo crisps once in a while, you can't deny yourself of everything.

disneyfanz -- wanted to answer your question on how i lost 4 lbs this week? no clue -- i guess since it was my first week totally and completely 100% back to journaling everything i eat and stopping when my points are up -- still doing WW online. also the week before was Easter and then TOM (poppinspal that's our WISH code for Time of Month :teeth: ) so my weight the week b4 was on the high range i believe. i fluctuate 4 lbs usually. two days later i was back up 2-3 lbs so now i'm clinging to staying OP (on plan) to reclaim that number again next week. i won't be surprised if i'm up a pound, but i'm working the plan and then plan WORKS!

also, i'm trying to mix up my workouts, i started going to a cardio/yoga mix class once and week and did kickboxing and then step aerobics for the first time in years. i felt like my body had become acclamated to the exercise routine i was in. also, i'm incorporting more pilates in my week and just restarted my twice a week nightly walks with my neighbor -- leisurely but its moving

and water water water water water water water..............................

it's great to read all the losing reports this week - let's keep 'em coming!

I do not know if there is a different way, but I always just go back and redo my ticker every week.

Great job everyone! I'm down another 1.8 lbs. I thought it would be more since I've been steadily increasing my exercise but a loss is a loss! Here's hoping that it will be even more next week when that TOM has moved on.

I had a disappointing weight loss of only 1lb :sad2: I thought it was going to be more, but any loss is good....right? :confused3

It's okay! I only have lost 1 lb this week. It does stink a little, but it is a LOSS! Just celebrate that and keep working hard! You can do it! :thumbsup2

PLEASE add me to the challange. I need to lose 15 lbs by June 21st.

We leave for vacation shortly after that. DH has a back country permit for a night below the rim of the Grand Canyon. Our campsite is Horseshoe Mesa which is 3 miles, 31 switchbacks & 2500 vertical feet below the rim.
At my current weight & in my current condition, I will be stuck in a hotel on the rim while DH & 2 DSs hike below the rim.

I need to get moving! Anyone know a good Drill Sargent?

well all i have to report that i'm back up 2 lbs -- not surprising after a 4 lb loss last week - BUT it's a total 2 lbs loss in 2 weeks so this GOOD! that is what i'm focusing on that 2 lbs are gone FOREVER and that closer to my first mini-goal.

I hope it's not to late to sign on to this challenge. I went back to WW meetings on 4/18, so that will be my starting date and weight. I am in for 10 pounds (I am trying to be reasonable and figure 5 pounds per month makes sense). The first couple weeks are are bigger losses, of course, but I am hoping to be able to average 1.25-1.5/week.

Hello everybody! Everyone is doing so good. Keep up the good work. As for me I have been busy at work and unable to weigh in last week. This week I have been eating good (I thought) and walking every day. I just got back from weigh in and I'm UP .5 lbs :confused3 . It is that TOM, and I guess even though I have been eating better foods, I'm still not eating enough. Hopefully, I can break this plateau and start losing this week. Wish me luck. Thanks, Michelle

May I join too??? I was doing so well, and then my grandma died in February, the week after my brother discovered his wife was cheating on him, and now an ugly divorce is in process. This is the brother who's wedding I met my Dfiance' at - my DB's "wife" is Dfiance's cousin...... luckily Dfiance' is completely and totally on my brother's side, but it's still a little awkward at family gatherings.....

But I digress...... I would love to join and have some motivation to get back on track. Can I put in for 7 lbs by summer?? :thumbsup2

Ok, I weighed again today, and although it is TOM, I have lost 7.5 pounds since I started this. I don't really know how that happened, except I upped my exercise, so that might be it. Right now, I am 7.5/10. I hope to lose maybe more than the 10 I set for goal before we leave for WDW on 6/1.

Right now I am just able to walk, and although I am doing it a lot now (daily at least 3.75 miles), its slow going and right now I just have to concentrate on getting strong again, and losing back the 5 lbs I gained not exercising. So to take pressure off myself, I am cancelling my challenges for now, but will definitely be back in there soon. Wish me luck guys!

Finally....I am down 4 pounds. My weight fluctuates quite a bit within a 3 pound range, but I finally made it over that hump.

Put me down for 4/15.

I hope I can keep it up. My stress level has been off the charts and that is a big binge eating trigger for me. Bring on the gum and rice cakes.

I too have gotten shin splints since I've started jogging. My father was a marathon runner once upon a time and he said to alternate distance and effort in my runs for awhile to condition my body. Also during warm up stretches and cool down to roll my ankles ten times to the left and ten to the right. I tried what he said and within 2 days the shin splints were gone!! Hopefully this helps :thumbsup2

Well guys sorry it has been a couple days since I posted...I was in WDW for the MINNIE marathon!!! I did finish, and couldn't be happier!!! Anyway, before I left on Friday, I went to WW and WI and I was shocked to know that I lost 3.6 this week :eek: !!!! I couldn't believe it!!!

Anyway, it looks like everyone had a pretty good week last week.

bnhasak ...great job on the 4lbs. Keep it up, and don't let the stress get to you. You can do it!!! :cheer2:

Well, I'm not happy with this week's weight. I'm up 0.8 lbs. from last week! But the good news is that my % body fat dropped, which means that I actually lost fat and gained muscle. We'll see what the next week brings. I've increased the resisitence on the elliptical trainer again and my legs felt the burn today.

I haven't checked in here for awhile. Works been a little stressful so I've been slacking off on my workouts. I had been up three pounds but I've taken it off. So I guess I've remained the same weight. Although over this past weekend a friend of a friend asked if I've been losing weight. So maybe even if the numbers haven't gone down yet I'm starting to look more in shape.

I need to find my motivation to workout again.

I've really done well with my exercising, just have to get my portions under control!

I am new to the thread, so it may be too late to join the challenge! I follow WW (mostly, but I don't go to meetings), and I work out a lot. I started March 3, 2006, with 23 lbs to lose. As of last Friday (I only weigh on Fridays), I have lost 10 lbs, 13 to go. I want to lose 10 more before our WDW trip at the end of July. By June 21, I'd like to have lost 7 lbs.

I tried lifting a 25 lb bag of fertilizer and a 10 lb bag of fertilizer the other day, just to see what it felt like to carry that sort of weight around. Gotta say I'm glad to be rid of it!

I've GOT to get rid of this weight, but I keep falling off. My biggest problems are soda (pepsi) and carbs. (rice)

I'm not giving up yet, but this has to be the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

I'm happy to report that I lost 2 lbs. this week! That brings me to 8.2/10. I think that I may actually make my summer goal by June (keeping fingers crossed). I'd still like to lose an additional 9 lbs. after that but I'm so happy to be at this point. I've got more energy and everything is tightening up from all the exercise. I'm eating the healthiest diet I've ever had in my life, taking a multivitamin and drinking at least 2 liters of water daily. I just want to say thank you to everyone for being so supportive of each other. It really motivates me to read your encouraging words.

disneyjunkie, I'm with you when it comes to complex carbs. I love...no make that LOVE...homemade breads, pasta, rice and potatoes. I'm still eating them, but in moderation. Atkins and South Beach just weren't for me. It was really hard the first couple of weeks that I cut back on my favorites, but I've adjusted. I still crave them on occaision but I'm learning to work thru the cravings. You can do it, too! Just take one day at a time and don't beat yourself up over the times that you lapse. Good luck.

I do not have a loss to report, I had a bad week and stayed the same, but I am back on track and I hope to have a 3 lb loss this week...I know a little much, but it is a personal goal, so WOSH me luck!!!

Today was my weigh-in day. I am down another 3.5 pounds from last week (I increased my exercise to get ready for WDW). That puts me at 13/10. I made it to 10! Now, if I can just get a couple more off before WDW to give me a little "cushion" for that dining plan thing! :rolleyes:

I hope it's not to late to sign on to this challenge. I went back to WW meetings on 4/18, so that will be my starting date and weight. I am in for 10 pounds (I am trying to be reasonable and figure 5 pounds per month makes sense). The first couple weeks are are bigger losses, of course, but I am hoping to be able to average 1.25-1.5/week.

I am now at 4.2/10. Can you say "tortoise"? ;)

Cam I am even slower. I am the same weight as when I started this challenge. Maybe it will change with the other challenge we are doing.

I'm finally down another pound. That puts me at 6.5/18. I highly doubt if I will make 18 by Summer, but hey, it's better than nothing!

I am happy to report a loss of 1.6 this week!!! I was totally shocked, but very HAPPY!!!

disneyjunkie, I'm with you when it comes to complex carbs. I love...no make that LOVE...homemade breads, pasta, rice and potatoes. I'm still eating them, but in moderation. Atkins and South Beach just weren't for me. It was really hard the first couple of weeks that I cut back on my favorites, but I've adjusted. I still crave them on occaision but I'm learning to work thru the cravings. You can do it, too! Just take one day at a time and don't beat yourself up over the times that you lapse. Good luck.

Finally..I budge in the scale. I've been good for weeks...jogging and I was food conscience. Ehh..I guess that wasn't good enough since last week I actually GAINED! So I started using my WW online tools to record instead of mentally and now I'm down 5 lbs from last week!!!!
