Can I rent a Mini-Van through EC?**Update**

I thought I read a thread where someone reserved a van through EC. I don't know how it works, is a seperate membership from EI required? I would love to bypass the counter if possible. Any info appreciated!!! :)

**I made a reservation on the internet(Yipee), and I got a rate of $610. It would not let me use the DC coupon, said it could not find it? I did put EC in,(had no idea what some of the other blank spots needed to fill them in) but it doesn't say anything about that on the confrimation. Do I just go straight to the Mini-Van isle and they check the print out on the way out? Lot's of ?'s but I am a nervous ninny!! :)

If you have an Emerald Club card, you can reserve a mini-van using the Emerald Choice option. Emerald Choice allows you to skip the counter and go straight to the mini-van aisle. Unlike Emerald Aisle, you will be guaranteed a mini-van and you will also be paying the mini-van rate.

Do I need to call a different # for EC because I mentioned this when I reserved through the EI # and they said I would have to stop at the counter if I reserved a van. Thanks Again!

If you reserve online and click on minvan as vehicle, the next box, "level of service" will show the default, which is "counter". Click on counter and a second option will appear, "emerald choice". When you book anything other than intermediate/fullsize, you can use emerald choice to pick your own vehicle within that class.:)

plus, you will get your "choice" of minivans. Pick whichever one on the minivan aisle you'd like.

I am gonna have to try and book on-line!! I am such a fraidy cat, but with the excellent info Pluto has provided(you to pbhunt) I should take the plunge. I am sure I can get a better rate. :)

Thanks, you certainly can get a better rate when you book online. Plus you can check out different coupon and contract codes to get the best possible rate without having to call anyone!:)

This may not be important, but the Emearld Choice program is not at all airpots. It is in Orlando, but if you are picking up someplace else you could be out of luck.

Good to know, but it will be in Orlando. That $610 price tag is killing me though, it is my only option since extended family are going with us. :)

Just wondering how many days your minivan rental is. We have a minivan reserved for $310.00(taxes and fees included) for eight days in November through Dollar. Your $610 rate seems really high, unless you're renting for a considerably longer time. Just thought I'd ask. :)

My dates are 12-20 to 12-29, could it be because of the holiday? My DH will not to rent anywhere else we have been renting from them for the last 11 years LOL! The regular rate I got was $228 for the isle. My only problem is I have to get 8 people to the Hoop-de Doo, and we will probably drive to AK for an early breakfast, including my DS with special needs otherwise I could get the car. I have a towncar reserved as well so the ride from the airport is not a problem since we are all at the same resort. You should have seen my rate before I took all that insurance off LOL! :)

The only Disc. I could get was $56.00 that is where you got me :( . Can I use the DC coupons for a min-van rental? The only one I have is from DC flyer with a contract I.D. # that begins with 5 and expires 12-31, I did look up the one you mentioned on another thread but it said it was not for a mini-van????? I am very confused. Thanks for taking the time to help me!!

Gee whiz Pluto, you're awesome! That should certainly help LvsTnk. I, on the other hand, appreciate you including all of the contract verbage regarding young drivers. It's probably on our contract too, but I have never read it because I am an OLD driver. It also states that EC additional drivers are no charge. Thanks for including it, very interesting reading.:)
