Prima Flowers Swap--POST HERE WHEN RECEIVED!!

Hi Ladies, :wave2:

With the great success of the first Prima Swap I hosted, and lots of requests for another one, I've decided to go for Round II !! :cool1:

This is a Prima Flowers Swap, it's pretty easy to do, so anyone can participate! The rules are really simple:

You pick your color and give each person a certain amount of petals. All you have to do is put each person's share in a small baggie and write color, group number and your user name on the outside. That is it!

Because there are different sizes of flowers, we've come up with a "scale" of sorts. 30 Small, 20 Medium or 10 Large. I have no problem with mixing and matching sizes, just make sure it is pretty much equal so it's fair for everyone.

Because each bottle contains several colors, when you sign up, you can use very generic colors, and just give a few of each to each person. If you have to order them and are unsure of your colors yet, just sign up and let me know later on which color you've chosen.

I found this as a reference of how many flowers are in the Milk Bottle style flowers, so hopefully it will give you guys an idea:

small--about 400 to a bottle
medium--about 320 to a bottle
large--about 200 to a bottle

I'l start out with a group of 10, and add another group if there's more interested. I'll try to keep the list updated frequently. You can join more than one group if you'd like. Just sign up for a different color so people in mulitple groups don't get the same flowers.

Due Date is June 1st. If I get everyone's before, I'll send them out!

Yes, the brads are sold seperately.

How I'm imagining it is, let's say I was doing Tropical, which is pink, purple and orange. And I send 20 flowers to each person. I'd send 20 flowers plus 20 brads in pink, purple, yellow whatever color I'd use in the center of my particular flowers that would make them look good. They don't have to be the same color as the flowers, they just have to match.

Okay I've got my colors for my other 2 groups. My LSS doesn't label them with titles, but I searched online and I'm 99% sure I've got the right names: Fall 3 Large (Pinks, light greens) and Forever Flowers Wildflowers Passion Large (pinks and grays). And my black/white/gray is actually called Winter 1.

Notice I said in my post this morning that I'd go to the store "this week"? It only took me about 4 hours to hop on the highway. Everything else in my life I procrastinate like crazy but anything related to scrapping I'm like super on top of things. ;)

OK, here's an update:

Group D now has 11 people in it. If anyone in group D is opposed to giving and getting an extra set, speak up and we'll see if anyone wants to drop out. Otherwise, Group D people, send 11 sets! :cool1:

I'm sure a mixture will be fine. They are all so pretty, I know I don't even care what colors I get! I'm not really a stickler with the colors, it's more of a guide so we don't sent out 10 packets of pink flowers and get 10 packets of pink back.

Depends on the size of your flowers. For the bigger ones, daisies and hydrangeas, I've used the regular sized ones, for the littler ones I've used the minis. Whatever you think looks best will be fine, I'm sure. Can you tell I'm a pretty easy going person?

I think even 8 large + 4 medium is fine. The scale we used last time was 10 large, but the hydrangeas are even larger than the large flowers. And don't worry about poking the brads through the flowers, just putting them all together in a baggie will work just fine!

Yes this is one can. There are about 55 extra large and 88 large in the can. One could put the large one on top of the extra large and it looks beautifu.

I think 5 extra large and 8 large is definitely equivalent, and probably more so! I honestly didn't know how many different types of flowers there were until I hosted the last swap!

Just so everyone knows, please don't think the #s outlined in the OP is a strict rule, it's just a guideline. Some of the flowers (like the hydrangeas and daisies) are much bigger than the milk bottle type, so just go with your instinct and send whatever you think is good enough.

Thank you Diana Lyn! None of the LSS in my area carry prima flowers so my only experiance with them is looking at them online. Its really difficult to judge size on the internet. Sorry for being a pain in the mouse! :rolleyes1

I just mailed my flowers. The lady at the USPS insisted on putting my stamps on the return envelpe, even when I objected. So to send it was 87 cents and the return I put on $1.11 to cover the next ounce.

Diana Lyn can tell you, I've been stressing :blush: about counts and sizes too. This should be put in the "sticky" Swap guidlines post too. Such a great visual!!!

So, I can now say that I am sending a mix of large and medium sizes, that is what is in the summer 1&2 bottles. I'm assuming the Easter colors will be the same.

I got my flowers in the mail yesterday and they're just as lovely in person as they are online. It was a little sad to have to open the bottle. They looked so pretty.

As far as I can tell, I got mediums. I compared them to some primas that I'd received in the 39 cent swap and the certainly weren't as large as some of those. I was a little cdonfused though because there were a little over 200 in the bottle. I used just about all of them when bagging them up for people. I thought that medium ran closer to 300 in the bottle? Did I really have large flowers? I packaged them at 20 for each person. If they turn out to have been the large ones, then there's a little xtra for everyone along the way.

I got my hydrangeas in the mail. My tin didn't have as many as someone who posted earlier. Only about 56 ex large and 87 large. Being in group D with 11 it turns out to be 3 extra large and 7 large. They are really pretty! and I did find matching brads, so they will be in the mail Mon. or Tues.

I'm sure everything that everyone is sending is going to be fine. I know I'm looking for the number or color variations more than the number of actual flowers I get.

I'm actually finding in this last batch that I just bought the amount of flowers in the bottle varies greatly. I bought a set of 4 bottles of No. 6 hydrangeas. Every bottle had a different number of flowers in it, there were between 60 and 80 flowers. That to me is a big difference, considering they were all the same price. :confused3 I'm thinking these things are hand packed and the packers just grab a handful and shove them in the bottle, however big that persons hand is, you get that number of flowers! :lmao:

I'll be on the lookout for the new packages!

I think you've got it right with the cutting back on the number in each bottle as they are getting more and more popular. I'm hearing more and more about huge discrepancies in the number of flowers in each bottle. :sad2: Before everyone goes crazy trying to get more, I think as long as you divide the bottles you already have evenly, there isn't going to be any hard feelings from anybody. Because essentially, we've each bought 1 bottle for each group, so it's pretty fair. I don't think anyone should have to pay twice as much money to get the same amount of flowers and someone else.

I ordered my Easter Primas from Bargain Pack, too, for my Group B selection. Since I did not receive a confirmation or any communication from them for over a week after I placed the order, I started e-mailing them. After three e-mails, I got a response from the owner stating (as you were told) that they were on back order. She said she expected them by May 6. Though the owner was very nice, I was worried and canceled my order since I wanted to make sure I had mine in time.

I ordered from Allyscraps.com and received them a week later. I just checked their website and now they are out of stock on those right now, too.
The way I found that Allyscraps.com had the Easter Primas was to do a web search using the words Easter and Prima Flowers, so, if you really want the Easter Primas, you might want to try that if you don't hear back from Bargain Pack.

I bagged flowers for 3 of my 4 groups last night. You guys are right about there being a inconsistancy in the number of flowers in each containers. I was able to get 6 large and 6 extra large white flowers out of my tin. But only 5 large and 5 extra large flowers per person out of the rose and yellow tins. Go figure. :confused3

I am still looking for the perfect brads for group 4, but I promise I will have everything in before D-day! :)

All of my groups were mixtures of small, medium, and large and the bottles ranged from 135 to around 170 flowers, so I just divided them equally between colors and sizes with each mixture.

Gayle had e-mailed me saying the Prima's would be in about two weeks from when I place my order (which should have been a week or two ago), I told her to keep the rest of my order and send everything at once. I called 2 LSS's near me and they have some in. One said she got in a case with velvet flowers that is new, but I am not sure what they are like. So I will try to go there and get a color that wasn't picked in my group if that is OK. Both stores are out of the milk bottle flowers.

At this point I do not want to take the chance, as talking to the owners of 2 LSS near me, they have been waiting for the same flowers from Prima for a while now too. So I went out today and got lavendar hydrangeas and beige flowers. I have them packed up and will get to the post office tomorrow.

As some of you know, I have been teaching at an alternative high school. The last day for our ninth graders was Tuesday. Tuesday night 3 of our students--9th graders--were in a bad single car accident and one girl died from her injuries. The driver is still in the hospital, the other girl has been released. Reports are that the driver was changing lanes, swerving from one to another. Then he lost control, hit a culvert and a light pole (knocked out power to over 3100 homes for several hours). The pictures of the car are awful and they had to use the jaws of life to get two of them out.

So . . needless to say the last two days at school--and personally--have not gone as planned. Many of us did not know until Wednesday morning when we got to school.

Please keep the two kids who survived and the family of the one who did not in your prayers. The funeral is Saturday.

WOW! I recieved my flowers in the mail today, the post office must have been on thier toes this weekend! I was amazed at all of the different kinds of flowers, just beautiful! One thing I thought I would mention, it would have been really great if everyone would have atleast put the color of flowers on the bags. WOW! I recieved my flowers in the mail today, the post office must have been on thier toes this weekend! I was amazed at all of the different kinds of flowers, just beautiful! One thing I thought I would mention, it would have been really great if everyone would have atleast put the color of flowers on the bags. Neither of mine had the color name on it. They just came in a plastic box with the Prima company label on them. I had called my LSS ahead to be sure they had some before driving all the way there, and she listed off the colors she had. When I got there I realized she just named them as she looked at them.

And from what I've noticed, even some online stores call them different things---some say summer 1, some say pastel mix. If these are as popular they need to start being a little more consistent!! :lmao:

I can tell you for my Group A it was called "Hot Tropix" and for my Group B it was called "Luscious". My Group D was a mix of the 4 different No. 6 hydrangeas (the ones with the copper tops).

I just got back from WDW and received my package. I love all the flowers and can't wait to use them on my tons of Epcot Flower and Garden Festival shots! I think I could make an entire scrapbook with just those pics!
