I am looking for some guidance from the FW experts on timing and transportation. We will be coming from VWL and are hoping to do pony rides, dinner at Trails End, and then the campfire (it will be 7:00 when we go).

I guess my two options are drive/bus over to OUtpost then take internal transpo from there, or to boat over. It seems like starting at Outpost makes most sense b/c that is where the ponies are, is this right? This should make for longer transpo returning the hotel, but less time on the front end when we are trying to squeeze everything in.

Can anyone verify the best way to get from VWL to FW, and then what buses I'd need to take once I am there? Also, what time do you think I need to leave WL, then leave ponies and leave dinner to make it by 7:00 to the campfire. I am thinking pretty early.

THanks in advance for your help! JJ

Are you thinking of Pony rides or Trail ride, the Trail ride would be by Outpost and Pony rides would be closer to the Trails End Buffet. IT would probably be easier to take the boat from WL to FW do Pony ride, trails end and on to Campfire by internal bus which again stops close to pony rides. Also the trail ride takes about a hour.

Sorry, I am thinking of the pony rides. For some reason I was thinking they were by the Outpost but I guess that is the horses. If everything is on the settlement side, then the boat is probably fastest. Any idea how much time to leave from VWL to the ponies by boat?

It only takes a few minutes by boat, but the big problem is the timing of boats, they run about every 10-15 minutes so if you miss one it would take a little longer. FW is only about a mile walk by the walk path between VWL and FW. It is not lighted at night.

I'm not sure about other times of year, but when we stayed at FW a couple weeks ago the pony rides ended at 5:00. I know this well because we just missed a ferry from the MK and had to wait over 20 minutes for another one; then the ferry went first to WL and didn't get to FW until 4:55. DD, 6, who wanted desperately to get in one more pony ride, ran at top speed from the boat dock to the ponies and fortunately made it on time. The boat ride from WL to FW took less than 10 minutes, but I'm not sure how much time there typically is in between ferries. The ponies are definitely on the Settlement end. Trail's End is taking reservations now, but I've always found them to be slow in getting you seated, so probably the earlier the better for dinner there. Then you'll want to get the internal FW bus (I'd take Outpost Yellow) to the campfire. Those buses usually run every 10 minutes or so, so to be on the safe side I'd leave 20 minutes to get from Trail's End to the campfire (although I don't think it'll actually take that long).

Thanks for the info! How long to you think the pony rides take?

Assuming we leave WL at 4, we should be there by 4:30. Is 1/2 hour enough for the ponies? We could then have ressies at 5:15-5:30 for Trails End and be done in time to get to the campfire by 7.

Does that seem to work? I guess it just depends on how long the pony rides are. JJ

Anyone have a link to a map that shows where all these things are?

Thanks!
