Corded remote or not?

I am looking to get a remote for my Canon 20D. I know that a corded remote is good if you are going to be behind or close to the camera and the cordfree is good for long distance. If you could get only one to be used for general family photos and still photos which would you get? Has anyone used either of these with this camera? TIA

Corded. You can still use the 10-sec timer to run before the shutter kicks in. With cordless you'll always have to ensure nothing is blocking the IR sensor... and you'll need to feed it with a battery or two. Usually the thin expensive ones.

Corded, you can also get extention cables if you need to be much farther away from the camera. I picked up an Adidt with a 3 meter cable off ebay for about $15 with shipping, just the basic release. Works exactly like the Canon on the 20D, just less expensive, plus it is a little smaller in size (which I liked better)

There are also other models available including ones with built in timers as well.

I have the cordless and am NOT too crazy about it. Taking pictures from behind the camera is a real pain with it.
