View Full Version : How Many Cross Stitchers Here?

04-12-2006, 08:42 PM
I just found this board and figured I'd be the only cross stitcher here. I opened this forum up to see several threads on the first page with xs in the title. I'm so excited, how many of us stitchers are out there?

I've been stitching for around 20 years I reckon now.

Add me!
I've been a cross stitcher for many years now, probably over 25 for sure! I have been doing needlework of all kinds since I was a teenager. And I even "taught" needlework at home parties a long time ago! Cross stitch is my favorite!

I taught myself how to cross stitch when I was 12 and have loved it ever since. 25 years later. Unfortunately, I have less time nowadays to sit and stitch due to a hectic job. But, its just like riding a bike, right?

I love to cross stitch...I've completed & professionally framed about 30 pieces.

I don't do it anymore because I would want to frame each & every piece & there is just nowhere to put them anymore. We have some hanging at home, but I don't want them everywhere.

We have framed pieces stacked up in our closet against a wall. DH has even taken some to his frame shop to sell. (I've never asked him if they sold or not, hmmmm).

So, I loved doing it...just haven't done it in a while.
The last piece I stitched was DD11's birthrecord when she was born.

My first 3 pieces or so were stamped cross stitch.
Then I began counted cross stitch...I liked that much better!

Count me in!

I cross stitch, too .... my current project is the Cinderella Castle w/Tink. I've been working on it (off and on) for over 5 years, LOL!! I'm determined to finish it this time and I'm sooooo close I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's the biggest project I've ever done and I can hardly wait to frame and hang it! ;)

I have been cross-stitching since I was eight years old. I love watching my pieces slowly come to life and I love looking at my many, many colors of floss, beads, and shiny threads. It is like looking at a treasure box. :) Right now I am in love with patterns by Mirabilia, but I also like Theresa Wentzler's fantasy patterns. Currently I am working on "The Pecking Order" by Marjolin Bastin.

me me me! I taught myself to cross stitch in college. I had done stamped cross stitch before then, but IMHO, stamped is MUCH harder than counted.

Right now I'm almost finished with a Suzy Zoo birth announcement for my neighbor's baby. :)

Here's a couple of things I recently finished that I had uploaded to photobucket for various reasons....

And here is a picture of Scoopie (our cruise group mascot) working on the Suzy Zoo piece--although it's MUCH more done than the picture shows!

Me - I need more time and stronger glasses, but I really enjoy it.

I'm a cross stitcher too. I just started a Disney pattern I made myself. I have a program where you can insert a picture and it will turn it into a counted cross stitch pattern. I am really excited, but it's pretty big so it will probably take me a long time. It's nice to see that there are a lot of cross stitchers on here.

My grandmother taught me to cross stitch when I was about eight. I don't know how many pieces I have done over the years, I keep giving them all away! I swore when we bought our last house that I would stitch only for me for five years...I haven't finished much since then. Evidently, I need the motivation of gift giving to be productive!

Me too! I've been stitching around 25 years! Just wish I had more time.

It was just a pattern. The buttons for the hats/stars/hearts/noses came in a button kit from my XS store.

You can get more info on it here....just scroll part way down the page.

I love to cross stich, I just wish I had more time to do it. :hourglass

I made a large one of a Precious Moments Bride and Groom when I got married 10 years ago and it still hangs in my hallway.

I have made various blankets for my 3 sons, wall hangings for friends and relatives. But now with all 3 of my boys keeping me busy with other things, I haven't been able to finish a few that I've started. :sad2:

I've been stitching 25+ years. I saw a friend doing it, thought I might like it. I loved it! I also thought it would help me lose weight - I couldn't nibble when I was stitching. Yeah, right! :rotfl2:
I'm now obsessed. If I do 6 projects a year, my wish list will only take me 24 years :hyper:

05-12-2006, 05:06 AM
Add me to the list!!!! I am addicted to counted cross stitch!! I have been stitching for about 20 yrs(grandma taught me when I was 13) My favorite thing right now is making my own patterns, it's almost as addicting as actually stitching!!! :woohoo:

05-12-2006, 05:06 PM
Me too! :teeth:

I love to cross-stitch, unfortunately I just don't have enough time to do it much. :sad2: I have been doing cross-stitching since I was young about 8 or so with stamped kits. My Aunt also taught me how to do embroidery, but I am not real good at embroidery work, so cross-stitching it is! :)

Hi :wave2: my name is Cherie' and i am addicted to cross stitch. I have been stitching for about 16 yrs now. I am currently working on L&L 'Angel of Grace' on rose colored linen and a santa who looks realistic. He's almost finished.

I just started a new cross stitch group at msn called 'SEW What Cafe?". We are only about 5 - 6 weeks old. I LOVE to talk and share ideas. You all are welcome to come and check it out if you like. The more the merrier!! (Address to web site is at bottom)

Currently we have approx. 30 active members. The group is starting a new floss swap, sign up starts June 1. Bookmark swap to follow soon. Possibly other swaps and exchanges in the future. I am always looking for new ideas if you have any you may post them on the suggestions board. We have 2 game areas with many games to play, and many more to come. We share cross stitch helpful hints...plus so much more. Do you like to talk and make new friends, there are various message boards, I am always on and LOVE to talk and start new messages and reply to messages. Soon I will be adding a new recipe message board where members may share their favorite recipe. Hopefully as soon as I can get more help running and organizing the group I will have chat schedules as well. Its just that I only have one assistant manager and I am in dire need of more. I just cannot be on 24 / 7. We also have a photo gallery that you may share your photos of your family and cross stitch work. I think I am currently the only one with photos right now.

You must become a member to join the group and participate.

Hey...I just tried to give you my web site address and it will not let me so I will write it this way in case anyone is interested...you have to fill in the parenthesis= groups (dot) msn (dot) com (forward slash) sewwhatcafe
There are NO w's in front of groups.

Well, I hope to see you there and make some new friends....I'll be around on these boards here at DIS. Bye for now...Cherie'
