Hey ya'll!~
Has anyone here ever timed the drive from Summer Bay to WDW? It looks like around 20 mins. or so, and I might need to look for something else so that we can have an afternoon break before going back to the parks. I don't want to be too far out and spend a lot on gas.

Nevermind...
I found this out by doing a search on Summer BAy. The times are posted in another thread.

We went out there for a timeshare presentation on a Saturday morning two weeks ago. The traffic on the way out was fine. However, the traffic on the way back (about 10:30) was horrible. It took us about 20 minutes to get back to I-4. There are some back ways into disney (Sherbeth Road I believe), but the traffic on 192 can be pretty bad. The resort is nice though. But it is a bit far out.

Is there any construction going on at that end of 192 right now that would make the drive slow? I'm wondering if I took the Black Lake Rd. turn by OLCC to Sherberth Rd. if that cuts off the times that are posted for travel (around 14 mins. to the parks).
What did you think of the resort itself? Did you find it worth the drive?

We used Black Lake to Sherbeth Rd everytime we went to Disney when we stayed at SB last July. No lights and the road happened to be pretty empty when we were on it. 192 was never really that bad for us either during the week but there are several traffic lights that can slow you down.
I think the times you have are pretty accurate. MK is always the longest trip no matter where you stay.
We liked Summer Bay but we got a great deal through Skyauction and we knew ahead of time it was a little further out than we have stayed on previous trips.

Thanks!
It looks like (from the website pictures) that it's a really nice resort. The waterpark-like feature looks fun for kids. Did ya'll do any of the activities there? I've read there's an ice cream social and a few other things. Was the beach area similar to the Disney resort beaches? That part looks nice too.

There is a some construction around I-4 and another major road they are building near Summer Bay. But it seemed that there was just heavy traffic and that combined with many lights made it bad. There is alot of retail businesses along most of this stretch. The bad traffic did not seem to be mostly caused by construction. My guess is it depends on the time of day.
The resort was nice. It is pretty spread out. If you get a really good deal, I think it would be worth the drive, especially if you use the back ways the other posters list.
