Flying and meds Q.....

when flying within Canada (Toronto to Calgary and back again) do I need to have a letter from our dr about ds' Concerta - meds for ADHD in labelled rx bottle? Do I need one for the 2 epi pens for little ds as the new epi cases don't have a prescription label on them - he wears one and I carry one.

I know I had letters when we flew to Florida last time and was not asked for them.... don't want to make that trip to wait 3 hrs to see the dr just for that if I don't have to. The letter about the epi's is no big deal to get as we are at the allergist for more testing in 2 weeks!

Hmmm interesting question......I'm a diabetic who takes various meds plus insulin and I take my meds,needles etc on board without a problem but I would think you would be better asking your Dr. or email or phone the airlines to see what they might suggest.Good luck! :)

My kids are diabetic and we carry lots of medical supplies when we travel. We do have letters from the doctor but we have never been asked for them or questioned about anything. I think as long as there is a prescription label on the medication it is fine. As far as the epi pens, again as long as the medication is with the pen (of course) it is OK. We have been told that syringes are fine as long as the safety caps are in place and the medication to be used with the syringes (insulin) is packed with them.
